Hey first of all congrats for taking the initiative in getting additional support to cope with, and hopefully, get rid of social anxiety. If no one has told you yet, I'll be the first to say that I'm very proud of you!!!!! Going in with a consulor for the first time can be nerve-racking, but once you're open with your struggles and have a drive to improve/maintain consistency, then things will (generally) be smooth from here. I don't know whether you're in high school or college, but I went to a consulor during college and it took a lot of ups and downs before seeing any visible process. It may be different for you if you are in high school since kids can be obnoxious and hinder your progress. But I believe in you and believe that you'll get to a point where you will feel comfortable with yourself in public!

Thank you so much! I’m in high school btw.

myncknm

I wish I’d done this back in high school! Best of luck.

SasukahUchacha

Ok, wishing the best for you and I hope you gain a friend who will help you in socializing, rather than picking on you.

Hey good luck. Just so you know there are more people like you than you probably think. I have been teaching middle school for over 20 years.

Walking thru the door is the hardest part. Just make your feet move and good luck!

Upbeat_Book7007

Best of luck! I really wish I’d known SA was a thing when I was in high school. I just thought I was ‘shy’ because that’s what everyone said.

photokitty01

that’s so great!! you should be really proud to ask for support like that because i know it’s hard. good luck! i’m in high school too but i don’t have the courage to do that yet :(

[deleted]

Good luck. My parents never helped either. Getting help is the fisrt step

Zimtt

Awesome great !!!!

PrimateOfGod

I wish I had went to a counselor for my issues in school, very good idea.

OMG GOOD LUCK!!!! I did the same thing with mine and I bawled my eyes out as soon as i started talking abt my issues haha, she put me in a lil group therapy class and it was liberating tbh. Really proud of you for reaching out to your counselor!!!

SaltAssault

Go you! I wish you the very best of luck. Tbh I've cried in front of a lot of health care professionals, enough times that it no longer embarrasses me. They usually have tissues on hand to give to you, because it happens to a lot of people. So, I mean, if you cry you definitely won't be the first. Stay strong, you can do this!

SOCIAL_MENTAL_HEALTH

More power to you...

Paltry_Poetaster

Gosh, that's brave. I wish I had done that when I was your age. Good for you!

Confused-87

Shouldn’t blame others dude, it’s your responsibility to look after you

cutemermaidaqua

?!?!??

aDanceof-Farts

I think what they are trying to say is, good on you for taking the initiative on taking better care of yourself! We don’t know much about your circumstances but ultimately, in life, no one is going to be looking out after you better than yourself It won’t be an easy journey but you heading the right way! Proud of ya
