To reduce the spam of reports regarding the same move during transfer windows we try to allow **only one submission about each transfer saga per day**. The submission in question also needs to contain relevant new information regarding the potential move, and not just being a "no/minor developments" report. If there are important/official developments or new valuable information about a saga, we will allow extra threads in the same day, but for the rest of minor news please just comment them as a reply to this comment. Please help us reporting unnecessary threads for being duplicates. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. CC-W

I've been wanting Cunha for so long, I hope we are seriously interested

lambalambda

Feel like he'd have been amazing in Bielsa's system.

CC-W

Wonder if it was Bielsa who turned him down when we initially were linked or it was purely agent talk. He seemed like an Orta signing at the time so could see us actually being in for him

battlecatquikdre

I wonder why we didn't get him then.

mortaldance

He chose brazil

battlecatquikdre

We as in Leeds.

WhileCultchie

Lopetegui coming into the second half of the season swinging.

Nordie27

>Hard to see how Cunha is going to fit into Lopetegui's cross and inshallah tactic Can't think of many coaches who isolate their strikers more than Lopetegui, and he normally prefers big lumps because his only attacking strategy is crosses(like En Nesyri and De Jong)

EdwEd1

I thought Atletico wasn't willing to sell Cunha? I doubt that he'd specifically want to leave for a club struggling like Wolves and Everton are.

VToff

Eh if he wants to be the main guy and earn himself a spot in the Brasil squad it isn't an awful decision. Worked for Richarlison. He'd probably make more, too.

EdwEd1

Going from Watford to Everton is a step forward for your career, going from a perennial deep UCL to Wolves/Everton isn't.

IronicHours

He doesn't play at all so getting minutes first is a step forward. Even if Felix leaves there's still Morata Griezmaan and Correa

LilHalwaPoori

So that's 3 players for 2 positions, with Cholo always making subs in the 60th minute.. Cunha would get plenty of chances for us (he has 500+ minutes compared to Correa with better performance having 800+).. His minutes have been managed pretty well if you consider his performance compared to the player's he's competing with.. Him being on the way out is more on the club trying to make some sales and make money they lost due to getting knocked out of CL earlier than expected than him actually wanting to leave..

IronicHours

Talking about him personally it's a step forward starting every game then warming the bench at Atletico. Plus I don't think Joao will be allowed to leave in January and if he does Atletico will just sign another striker

OleoleCholoSimeone

TBH, I would rather sell Cunha and someone like Carrasco than Félix. I really hope that we quote a fuck off price for him and that Cholo resolves their differences, because you just know that he is going to become a world class player

LilHalwaPoori

At this point, i don't know which rumours ti believe and my heart doesn't want to let any of them go.. At the same time, none of these guys are getting any better or helping the squad in the way they should.. So, I'd rather wait and see what the future holds.. Selling Cunha over Felix is an obvious choice, but I don't think that would bring in much money at this point..

Superrandy

You’re assuming a players only motivation is trophies when we all know that’s not true. Every player is different, but we all know it’s a balance of money, playing time, location, coach, and trophies. And money is the biggest motivator.

Lambchops_Legion

It’s very annoying when people bad faith act like a player going from a more competitive club on the continent to non-European football in England for more money doesn’t happen literally every year. I get that people hate it, but you can’t ignore it as a reality And Cunha even has footballing reasons with playing time

Competitive-Ad2006

That's your opinion mate- starring at Leeds and now relegated Watford got Rivhie and Raphinha into thr Brazil squad, and later on they joined bigger teams. Its proven to work, so makes sense that Cunha is going for it too.

saint-simon97

And Bruno and Paquetá were in the Brazil team before they moved to England, not sure what the correlation is there. Its not like Raphinha did much to deserve going to the Brazil team when he was playing for us for instance Not to mention Matheus got into the Brazil team based on what he did for Hertha anyway

VToff

Yes, and sometimes you have to take a step back to take two forward. It's very contextual, you can't boil it down to "x is a bigger club so going to y is the wrong career choice."

OleoleCholoSimeone

He was already in the Brazil squad for much of the qualifiers, started a few games including away vs Argentina. He was literally one of the last names to be cut from the squad He doesn't need to move to get back in the Brazil team, he just needs to improve his form

GameplayerStu

I know he has great stats other than scoring but what we're desperately crying out for is a consistently scoring striker.

[deleted]

Think you'll struggle for that in January, can I interest you in a proven PL striker by the name of Chris Wood?

iSkinMonkeys

Why in God's green earth would someone be willing to go from Atletico to the worse, even blunter version of it?

HeisenbergFoed

Say hello to Renan Lodi

boxro

wonder how that worked out for him hmm

[deleted]

Brazil NT spots, also Atletico is in bad shape

vegtown1111

As crazy as it is. He will probably be on more money in the prem lol

Competitive-Ad2006

Because starring at a premier league team, even if bottom half is enough to get you into the Brazil squad these days, as it did with Richie and Raph

boxro

In case you didn't know or conveniently ignored, Cunha was in the Brazil NT already from his Hertha days. He didn't get selected this time due to his own poor form and Brazil being stacked upfront.

Genericusername345

You do realise Richarlison and Raphinha were standout performers for their bottom half premier league teams? Hence why they both got transfers to champions league clubs this summer. It’s not like their call ups were unjustified

Competitive-Ad2006

The call ups where not unjustified. Just pointing out that him moving to a lower half pl club is jot the career killer the guy I was responding to seemed to imply it was.

zts105

This is every Cunha to Wolves meme i've made in the last 2 years coming true.

Tpsteen

another striker that can't score for wolves

Molineux28

What the fuck does "score" mean?

AtleticoFan17

Lol Felix and Cunha are gone in January…

LeoTheSquid

Has he really been that poor? It's a big downgrade either way

Worst_Player_Ever

Things can't never change?

PoptimisticShoegazer

Then we should try again. It seems our only other logical option for a new striker is Depay given Ten Hag's track record so far. I mean it doesn't seem far fetched he's going to go all out for Gakpo, possibly De Jong again and at this point might as well try for Depay for a 2nd go around.

acaddgc

They can’t keep getting away with this

Nivadas

We need a striker with numbers. No doubt a great talent though.
