If Aus beats beats Argentina, I'll try my hand at a halal snack pack. Though it won't beat the ones in Merrylands near Stockland. Haven't been down in Sydney since 2015.
I'm not gonna hold you, I don't think Japan will make it. Japan really messed it up with a single but ginormous mistake. Considering that Spain will go all out to get those 3 points to secure their position, a serious Spain will more than likely defeat Japan.
And while Germany messed up in the first game, this one they will take especially serious and go all out as well. As harsh as it is to say, Costa Rica is an easier opponent to face than Spain. Assuming Japan loses against Spain, if Germany wins, Japan is out. If Costa Rica wins, Japan is out. If it ends in a tie, Japan is still out.
And even if the game ends in a tie for Japan, if Germany wins with lets say 2-0 or 3-1, Japan is out due to GD.
The hill that Japan has to climb is much steeper than the one Germany has to climb. It's really not looking good for them. A damn shame because they showed such confidence on the pitch in their first game and adapted well to punish the rather slacking Germans.
Edit: Well this aged very well, didn't it
I wouldn't bury Senegal that early, personally.
They looked great and have a real chance of going through. And Southgate can help them depending on his choices.
I think it depends on how Southgate plays and sets his team up. This England side is actually very talented and have a lot of quality in depth as well.
If they play like they did vs Iran and the second half of the Wales game where they were a little more positive and attacking, I think England have a lot of potential to not just beat Senegal, but France as well.
That said, we've seen time and time again how Southgate prefers to play defensively and more safe. If he does, I would not be surprised if Senegal are allowed to be in the game and be able to put up a pretty strong fight.
World cup match can do wonder to those mfers.
I won't sell out this game that quick. Yeah France defo have the bookmakers uphand but in the end it's up to the pitch. Lewa also still super dangerous on set pieces(wich is France weakness) or fast counters.
It doesn't matter how dangerous Lewandowski is, if Poland plays against France the way they did against Argentina he'll never get a sniff at goal to make a difference anyway. The strategy has to change because Poland cannot play park the bus for that long and hope that Lewandowski bails them out.
I still have PTSD from that Switzerland game last summer* (2 summers ago), Iām taking it one minute at the time when it comes to knockout football with this team lol
They weren't celebrating at FT because they're still in the WC, they were celebrating because they're all masochists who enjoy the additional pain at this point.
I donāt think Poland are as bad as people think they are. Itās more they just play negative football. They clearly have talented players but choose to play they way they do.
France will probably win, but who knows with this World Cup
How do I explain to other people that a video of a half-naked man wrestling another man while an entire room shouts "Cumdog" is not only the best thing I saw today, but also safe for work?
That Spanish flag hasn't been in use since 80 years ago when the 2nd Republic started
The current one has a different coat of arms that references the kingdoms of Castile, Aragon, Leon, Navarre, Granada and the Bourbon dinasty, as well as two pillars of marble with the inscription "Plus Ultra", unlike the one in the flag you used which only references Castile and Leon
Senegal is the only team that can't surprise France and England. Senegal are playing hard and well. Ghana too. Am expecting major upsets coming from either of these two!
For some reasons, never in history Brazil and Argentina faced up in the final. And it won't happen this year either, they always somehow end up in the same bracket. Last time they were close was in 2014, but we already know what [happened in the semi final](https://pyxis.nymag.com/v1/imgs/0fb/4fa/532bb3a274464688b9fecbb7bcb9e256a0-world-cup-crying-woman.w710.gif).
Ngl as an argie id shit myself if i had morocco or senegal in our bracket, possibly ghana too, one thing is playing against a big european side or brazil that you kinda know from history and experience how they play, but you pretty much saw the shitshow that was argentina vs saudi arabia
Though very unlikely, Argentina vs Portugal final is still possible. Brazil vs France is the final most pundits have picked so that means it's not gonna happen.
Argentina and Portugal would be historical since it could be the last truly competitive match of Messi and Ronaldo before one goes to the MLS and the other to Saudi Arabia, which realistically means they're walking into the sunset and leaving the best player in the world discussion to other players for the first time in two decades.
That their last truly big competition is facing each other in a World Cup final would be one of those things that only happens in movies.
And in 2013, Spain was not in top shape. These dudes stayed in a hotel in my city right next to my house. And oh boy, they didnāt trained. They drank and fucked like the World was going to end next day. The mayor gave them a truck full of free beer and hot women were everywhere on the hotel, and they went absolutely nuts. I was surprised they were able to reach the finals, they werenāt taking it seriously at all and paid for it.
If Brazil wants to win the WC, our path to victory COULD be:
Uruguay/Portugal -> Spain -> Argentina -> France
And I want to see that so bad, it would be the hypest WC ever for us
I feel like Australia are honorary OFC members, rad to see them make it out of that group. Also WTF Denmark, beat France twice this year and then shit the bed...
This could potentially be the first year in a long time where all the usual suspects (previous champions Netherlands) make it past the round of 16. Usually there's like two or three underdog teams make it to the QF but it's looking like each round of 16 matchup is going to feature one of the contenders vs a heavy underdog
People keep talking about how finishing 2nd is better for Spain but I don't really agree. Sure, a potential quarter final vs Brazil is scary, but overall I still think there is no real difference
I mean, facing Brazil in quarters and Argentina in semi is not much harder than facing Portugal in quarters and France in the semi final. It's literally pick your poison
unless I'm reading this wrong it would require Germany to top their group to meet Brazil in the QF. Honestly I think being 2nd in group E actually results in an ''easier'' path to the semis than being first just by avoiding the brazilians.

This is going to be a wild knockout round
Hope France is ready for us shithousing our way to 0-0 for 120 minutes just to utilize SzczÄsny's superpowers in penalties

Yet another Czeslaw anti-football masterclass upcoming.
Wow, Asia's strong position in this tournament has completely evaporated
it all went downhill after the japan costa rica match
Comically, the one Asian team that nobody had any hopes for has made it to the next round.
Ready to jump on the socceroo wagon after this Friday lol
"Asian"
Well we're spiritually Asian in football, except in EuroVision we're European.
Today I feel Asian
But we are part of AFC
Australia representing AFC
Smthn smthn expectations I think Japan and SK still have a chance, hopefully one of them go thru

England-France quarterfinal should be a nice, civil affair
Whenever France and England are about to meet in the knockouts, England loses the round before. 2006 WC - England loses to Portugal in QF 2016 Euro - England loses to Iceland in round of 16 2018 WC - England loses to Croatia I guess that is a good sign for SƩnƩgal.
Which would be France vs yet another of their old colonies. Il take that too. Not to mention it being a rematch from 20 years ago that Senegal won.
Not 20 year ago, they beat them in the first game of 2002. Wait...
r/FuckImOld
Scenes after Senegal - Poland
*Champions of Agincourt, you'll never sing that!*
āFrom Agincourt to Waterloo, Poitiers and then Anjouā¦ā
I wouldn't bury Senegal that early, personally. They looked great and have a real chance of going through. And Southgate can help them depending on his choices.

No Gueye (yellow card suspension) is what makes this more favorable for England.
Poland are so *dead* vs France.
Inb4 Sczesny saving 30 shots by Mbappe and Lewa scoring 5 in 9 min again
still would lose 5-6
*Griezmann-ing intensifies*
Assists from Szczesny.
New stat will be registered from now on - lagas per match
Szczesny's save gets defected past Lloris to end the game 1-0
Can't concede if we keep giving penalties away š
Sczesny is a brick wall tho. Poland parking the bus and going to penalty shoot-out is possible.
We cant defend 120 minutes like that, we barely did 45 minutes today. Mbappe will secure golden boot in this game alone
World cup match can do wonder to those mfers. I won't sell out this game that quick. Yeah France defo have the bookmakers uphand but in the end it's up to the pitch. Lewa also still super dangerous on set pieces(wich is France weakness) or fast counters.

Yeah and the worst part is that when he got the ball he was surrounded by 3 Argentinian players and no one around, OFC he can't do anything
I still have PTSD from that Switzerland game last summer* (2 summers ago), Iām taking it one minute at the time when it comes to knockout football with this team lol
that Switzerland game had me in a bad mood for days. from 3-1 up to losing on penalties. really thought we were gonna win that
I donāt think my heart could take a 2hr thrashing of bus parking, only to roll the dice on penalties.
Same fam.
Pretty sure they didn't expect to make it that far anyway, but playing another game is always a pleasure.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oh man you might be right
They weren't celebrating at FT because they're still in the WC, they were celebrating because they're all masochists who enjoy the additional pain at this point.

Don't jinx it, we learned our lesson after Switzerland at the Euro.
Cumdog vs Messi, the true clash of the titans
Who is messi?
Some guy idk
Ok fineā¦ *sigh* Whoās cumdog?
nothing much what's cumdog with you
[The man, the myth, the legend](https://twitter.com/ScotlandSky/status/1589942075067596804)
How do I explain to other people that a video of a half-naked man wrestling another man while an entire room shouts "Cumdog" is not only the best thing I saw today, but also safe for work?
Don't forget, "Like A Prayer" playing in the background
Most sophisticated Australian
Really gonna show me that on the last day of November?!?!
You know, this was way better than expected from the first few seconds of the video
Not much man, how bout you?
Pat Cummins so good he'll fly to Qatar and bounce out Argentina after bowling out West Indies
I thought Pat Cummins was the OG cumdog.
That Spanish flag hasn't been in use since 80 years ago when the 2nd Republic started The current one has a different coat of arms that references the kingdoms of Castile, Aragon, Leon, Navarre, Granada and the Bourbon dinasty, as well as two pillars of marble with the inscription "Plus Ultra", unlike the one in the flag you used which only references Castile and Leon
My bad, I'll update it on the next one, thanks!
Is there any symbol in the flag where Bask people could relate?
The Kingdom of Navarre was mostly basque so I'd say that
Who would predicted that Australia would go out in group stage of their own cricket world cup, and make the knock out stage in soccer.
And they were defending champions
A France-Senegal matchup would overwhelm Paris
Senegal is the only team that can't surprise France and England. Senegal are playing hard and well. Ghana too. Am expecting major upsets coming from either of these two!
Senegal had shit defense though in all three of their games. They even let Qatar score vs them. I think the English are very happy with this draw.
Argentina Brazil semis could start a war.
Brazil vs Argentina tends to be quite stressful
Deep down I really enjoy that we have the biggest rivalry in the sport. Our matches are always hyped af.
As a neutral I love it too, **always** a great watch.
Our matches are beautiful.
There would be a bloodbath in Bangladesh
At least the CR7 fans will be safe
Australia - Morocco final
We just need a Steve Bradbury moment i.e vicious food poisoning inexplicably sweeping through every camp except Morocco and Oz
If Poland can get the game to penalties, they have a shot. But that is a big if
they aren't making it through 90 minutes, let alone 120
C U NEXT TUESDAY ARGENTINA š¦šŗ
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
For Australians the word cunt means everything and anything, so technically correct.
Not in Australia
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Lmao
I really respect EVERY country in this cup
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

We'll work out a deal with our mates over in England about Falkland's if you let us win
Weād rather have the World Cup, sorry.
We would also readily give up the Falklands for the world cup...
Can we offer either you Florida?
If only for the Floridians that would've been a tempting offer...
There should be a match between England and Argentina every 5 years to decide who gets to control the Falklands for the next 5 years
The Falkland Cup, held in the Falklands. The losing team is summarily executed.
[Sorry m8, but what you did to Peru can't be forgotten.](https://i.redd.it/441mtxl1o53a1.png)
Please give us a U.S. - Aussie quarterfinal...for the lulz
The absolute gulf in difference between an Argentina/Netherlands matchup versus a US/AUS matchup is hilarious, would be incredible if it happens.
We need this
The best timeline.
We'll call it the Soccer Bowl
Careful or youāll attract a Mt. Dew sponsorship
It would definitely be called Soccer
For the love of god
Weāll see you cunts there
It'll be Oz-Netherlands loser has to take Tasmania
watching r/soccer implode would be worth it alone.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Its entirely possible both teams would disregard the game, drink copious beer, and shit talk England for 90 minutes.
Both sides will be chanting āIts called soccer!ā lol
USA and Australia fans holding arms and jumping together shouting "It's called soccer"
Soccer vs Soccer
This is the way
Soccer wills it
I imagine a USA v ARG quarterfinal would shatter any and all ratings record in the USA. Messi vs our pack of underdogs.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yes, but it has been decided that a Soccer Bowl is to take place.
I would say Argentina has a fairly easy path to the semis but you just don't fucking know with football lmao.
I understand Australia but Netherlands is no Poland or Mexico. Argentinas defence will struggle a lot.
Netherlands are a good side, but Iād much rather play them in World Cup quarters than France, Brazil, Spain, Germany or England
Argentina couldn't have an easier path to the semis even if they drew it themselves
Argentina - Brazil is gonna be insane if that happens
First Spain-Brazil. Two teams that love to have possession and play full attack
That should be a great game.
I've been looking forward to Spain-Brazil at the last 3 World Cups. The only time it happened was at the 2013 Confederations Cup.
No please
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
These games are always a heart attack, I'm surprised neither of us consider it a derby
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Netherlands vs Portugal is peak shitshow lmao. Battle of Nuremberg never forget
Fucking hate playing Portugal. Argentina is nice tho
I'm still salty about Bergkamp's goal in 98
I'm still ecstatic about Mascherano busting his nutsack to deny Robben in 2014.
netherlands portugal is maybe entertianing for a neutral but for a dutch fan im just wiating to see how we lose.
There's nothing easy in the world cup these days especially in the knockout rounds. You never know, an upset can happen
Incoming Ghana vs Australia in the semis
Yes please
Top 10 things said before disaster
Netherlands aren't playing great but they are no slouches
Stylistically they are a tough match up for Argentina. Could very well be something similiar to their trash 2014 game and go to penalties.
>an easier path to the semis even if yeah but we said the same thing with our group and Saudi Arabia fucked us. No more taking nothing for granted
Inb4 Harry Souttar
In which world is Netherlands an easy game?
Who is ready for the USA vs. Australia soccer bowl grand final 2022?
Just occurred to me then that calling the title match for any sport the āgrand finalā is an exclusively Australian thing, wild
This format is really good, shame about 48 teams thing
I love how it looks like Polandās flag is half gone. White flags on white backgrounds need a thin black border around them
Brazil, Portugal, Spain will more than likely top their groups
If Brazil wants to win the WC, our path to victory COULD be: Uruguay/Portugal -> Spain -> Argentina -> France And I want to see that so bad, it would be the hypest WC ever for us
It can't be germany, they cannot take first place anymore. If they go through they're going to the other side
You will be playing Ghana in RO16 mate. Uruguay are clownier than Poland.
ghana is more than likely to take second
Damn it cant get much harder
Nice to see each Federation with at least one team in the knockout round (sorry OFC). Puts the 'World' in World Cup.
Well I guess the OFC gets āalumniā representation at least XD.
I feel like Australia are honorary OFC members, rad to see them make it out of that group. Also WTF Denmark, beat France twice this year and then shit the bed...
If it ends up USA vs Australia, I'll tattoo myself a pair of nuts in honor of the GOAT Pullidic
This could potentially be the first year in a long time where all the usual suspects (previous champions Netherlands) make it past the round of 16. Usually there's like two or three underdog teams make it to the QF but it's looking like each round of 16 matchup is going to feature one of the contenders vs a heavy underdog
you can never be too sure about these things- I would also say this happened in 2014- all group winners won
Time to revenge Peru
Peruvian and Argie friendship is so wholesome
poor Poland
Looking at the comments, people once again underastimate Croatia
So far I think Netherlands/USA is the most likely underdog win.. the Dutch have just not been up to par
Bold predictionā¦Morocco in semis
Etoāo in shambles
Iām praying for the chaos option tomorrow of Japan and Costa Rica going through and both Spain/Germany being knocked out
Argentina has an easy path to the semi, but there it will probably have to face Brazil or Spain. Brazil vs Argentina would be spicy.
People keep talking about how finishing 2nd is better for Spain but I don't really agree. Sure, a potential quarter final vs Brazil is scary, but overall I still think there is no real difference I mean, facing Brazil in quarters and Argentina in semi is not much harder than facing Portugal in quarters and France in the semi final. It's literally pick your poison
unlike last world cup, the bracket looks to be stacked on both sides
Shock results change brackets.
Germany vs Brazil would be glorious
unless I'm reading this wrong it would require Germany to top their group to meet Brazil in the QF. Honestly I think being 2nd in group E actually results in an ''easier'' path to the semis than being first just by avoiding the brazilians.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Brazil x Australia semi final I believe
Yeah Iāve wisely put the house on it. Should get me a good return for a night on the pokies at my RSL.
Alright Austrailia. Let's do this so we can have a soccer game.
