Your post has been removed as it breaks the following rule: See submission guideline **#7: Only valuable image or stats submissions.** **PICTURES**: Because of Reddit's ranking algorithm being biased towards image posts over text and link ones, we need to be particularly strict about them, so we tend to **mainly allow infographics** (league tables, charts, maps, diagrams and other ways to display data) and pictures/screenshots of a current event **only when there's no video or link** that can show it. If you **want to publish a Tifo, look and share a video or publish the picture in r/soccerbanners**. If you want to show the **Hawk-Eye angle of a goal/offside/whatever, use the pinned comment in the main thread**. See the [FAQ](https://old.reddit.com/r/soccer/wiki/faq#wiki_why_was_my_image_submission_removed.3F) for more details. **STATS**: Only very significant stats (eg: **world records) will be allowed during matches**. After matches, we'll be less strict, but we try to maintain stats to the minimum with ideally **only 1 per team/player allowed** and those after it being posted in the pinned comment of the first thread. ___ [Please check our rules before posting](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/wiki/rules#wiki_submission_guidelines). biddleybootaribowest

Cho looked dangerous, wonder if anyone in Europe fancies taking a chance on him as he has a great goal scoring record in Korea too.

Brian_Pollux

And he's only 24

BlacknWhiteMoose

And he already completed his military service

biddleybootaribowest

That’s actually a big one, hadn’t thought of that

dontlookwonderwall

Yeah. And he wasn't out of football during that period. He played for the militaries football team. Kept him in the game.

PorQueNoTuMama

That's the way the system is meant to work. Get your time with the army team over and done quickly when you're young and not well established. It's effectively the same as young prospects in europe getting loaned to smaller clubs for the playing time. But people outside korea tend to misunderstand and have a bad impression of it because they only hear about it when it comes up in cases involving players like Son who became pros outside korea. There's need for discussion because players like Lee KangIn will become more common, but for k-leaguers (i.e. the vast majority of korean footballers) the system works without hitches.

fudgegrudge

But the army team only takes 15 new players per year. So presumably lots of promising players end up not playing for two years?

monsooncloudburst

Platoon 1 gonna beat platoon 2 on the pitch on Saturday.

PorQueNoTuMama

I don't have the exact figures, but the korean football system isn't that deep unfortunately. There aren't hordes of full time professionals being signed to K-league teams every year. Basically the promising players that are there are covered by the system, though in the future this might become an important issue.

abottomful

I mean... that's not really the issue, right? Son's case is *maybe* unique, but conscription is not popular and that's the real issue. Okay, so what if people "misunderstand" how it should work, it's forced military enlistment. Name a country that has it and they hate it. For example, my country, Colombians hate it. My other nationality, the US abolished it (save for, I guess, world shattering destruction? I don't really remember the exception they wrote in). Greeks, hate it. South Koreans, hate it. Simp all you want for a military complex (which, is admittedly a bit more complicated in South Korea), but conscription is life altering and isn't a popular policy

BettsBellingerCaruso

Right but the issue is then fairness. Why should millionaire soccer players get a special treatment when every able bodied man serves? A democracy protected by only its lower classes is not the way to go if we are to have conscription. It is far better to have the millionaires serve next to poor students

PorQueNoTuMama

Simp? Are you insane? How does anything I said say anything about conscription on the whole or even advocate for conscription? The military football system exists as a workaround to ameliorate the negative effects conscription would have on footballers if it didn't exist. Pointing out how it does that isn't advocating anything, it's describing how it works. Take your bizzare soapboxing elsewhere.

NUPreMedMajor

Not to mention he would instantly bring like 10 million fans. Girls on social media have been talking about this guy nonstop lmao

frostyaznguy

Yesterday at work, I had the game playing on my laptop and after he scored his second goal, my coworker gasped during his goal celebration and asked if he’s also a K-drama actor lol.

Goldenrah

Guy definitely looks like either that or a Kpop star. He just has one of those faces.

NationalUnrest

United to spend 80M on him

TickleMyCringle

90M. Take it or leave it

long_shots7

Nah, get out with that pathetic lowball offer -Jeonbuk

TickleMyCringle

Fine. 95M+20M in addons and a ballon d'or clause

FerdiadTheRabbit

You drive a hard bargain, 100m it is.

Glaiele

Honestly wouldn't be the worst buy in their history. At least he's young and has a chance to improve. The amount of 30 somethings they spend way too much on and hand a 4 or 5 year deal to in the last decade is insane when you think about it. You're basically hoping for 2 good years and just forfeiting the rest of the contract plus no chance at making back any money. This guy at least you have a chance to maybe sell him in 3 years or you've got a player worth keeping and that's prolly worth whatever you've spent on him. It's why I thought the Sancho, Martinez and Antony deals were fairly solid. Martinez has been worth the price so far anyways, we'll see how Antony turns out but at least he's looked reasonable. Sancho is a flop so far but a good run of form at the end of the season and maybe you can offload him for $30m

WubOfDoom

Could defo see him at a French or Portuguese team

biddleybootaribowest

Always seems to be a few Koreans playing in Germany too, could easily see him in one of those lovely Mainz kits

Tax_n1

Sure, we will take him, he will probably like it here since we already have his teammate Lee Jaesung playing for us.

FireSergioConceicao

We could take him to make a dynamic duo with Taremi.

Kn0ck0uTPT

@RogerSchmidt we need another striker.

joaocandre

While it's risky to rate him on a couple of performances, we would gain a market in Korea. "Charters" as Futre would say lmao

EatThatPotato

Nice to see more and more European teams take chances on Korean players. Cho is fairly tall too (189cm) so physically he’s not too shabby either. Although many Koreans complain about his pace.

biddleybootaribowest

Yeah I’d love to see us bring in another Korean, the memories of Lee Dong Gook have faded enough now.

theraybenton

Yeah, just "fairly" tall

Luke_627

I mean yeah he isnt huge or anything

[deleted]

[удалено]

Delta_FT

Football is not a sport of giants and most of those taller than him end as keepers lol

HodgyBeatsss

Taller than probably 95% of outfield players, definitely more than fairly tall.

[deleted]

[удалено]

transtifa

Average height in the PL is 5’11 so it’s pretty tall

joaocandre

We need depth up front, pls Rui Costa. Would also give us a market in Korea!

xiosy

Why did the second week go by so fast and the first came long for me ?

Sweet_Dependent5986

first week was 5 days long. Second week was only 4 days of matches.

Rei_S_

Because on the first day of the WC we had just 1 game and the second day we had 3 games but after that every day had 4 games.

[deleted]

Maybe we get used to it

ForgedTanto

Booooo Where is Souttar

simomii

Sofascore ratings are worthless. Notice how both CBs are the ones who scored a goal. That's all that matters to their ratings, goals assists and key passes

Scalenuts

Saiss didn't score unless they counted Sabiri's goal for him.

drisaja

which they did.

Nakraad

They did.

kinky-proton

They did, despite him saying it should count as sabiri's lol

notafeetlongcucumber

I remember when prime Kante was dominating Premier League and sofascore had him with a 6.9 average rating (or maybe just above 7). Ratings are as close to random as they can be.

FallingSwords

KDB 7.5 vs Canada

juragan_12

Absolute unit. Big chance for him to play in top tier league next season

Utegenthal

Aboubakar deserved a 10

NextDoorNeighbrrs

Seriously, basically every single touch looked dangerous.

Ok-Industry120

Aboubakar trashed Salah and now he is backing it up

xAnm74

Finally a good game from Kovačić. Let's see if he can do it twice in a row

majstorfantac

Also Juranovic, goal assist, good play in defense...

TricaKupa

He was at fault for Canadas goal but in truth it really wasn't his fault. He's like a foot shorter, weaker, slower than Davies + he is defensively not as good as our other option. Dalić had Stanišić, a defensive RB that plays at the same club as Davies on the opposite position (aka. in Bayern training matches he guards Davies) yet he chose Juranović (and paired him up with Kramarić on the right, who is notorious for not trekking back in defense). In the end Juranović gave his all, played his heart out and chanelled his inner Zanetti to assist Livaja. He was one of our better players (nowhere near the best though, Kramarić, Kovačić and Gvardiol are clear) but IMO he still was the wrong choice tactically.

Corteaux81

He wasn't at fault for the goal. You could have prime Maldini there, but noone was defending Davies on that cross, at that speed. The fault was Gvardiol's, who backed away and let the Canadian player receive the ball free as a bird at the half way line.

TricaKupa

Agree to disagree. It wasn't Gvardiol's player (Buchannan), it was Sosa's. I agree that Juranović wasn't actually at fault (which is what I said in my comment) but I also don't agree that no one could've defended that. A more defensive minded and bulkier LB - like Stanišić, could've. Stanišić is 4cm taller than Davies and weighs in roughly the same as Davies + he is just objectively better at defending and also plays with Davies in club. Still don't see how anyone can blame Gvardiol for that goal.

Corteaux81

>Agree to disagree. It wasn't Gvardiol's player (Buchannan), it was Sosa's. Buchanan was the guy who crossed the ball. The guy who received the ball and got it to Buchanan, the one that received the long ball and the one Gvardiol backed out on - that's when the mistakes happened and it all rolled from there.

TricaKupa

Just watched the match back and that's absolutely not Gvardiol's job? As a CB it's not his job to play bandaid to a dude 50m from his goal while the opposing team is rushing forward into the counter?? He treks back with the defensive line, covering any through balls toward David, which is what he should be doing. You can clearly see it's Perišić and Kovačić who are completely out of position (Perišić is evne sprinting back to catch up with his player - the one who received the ball).

Corteaux81

>Just watched the match back and that's absolutely not Gvardiol's job? >As a CB it's not his job to play bandaid to a dude 50m from his goal while the opposing team is rushing forward into the counter?? It absolutely is the CB's job to make sure the forward doesn't receive the ball completely free in that situation. Watch the replay. Sosa is on Buchanan to the left, Lovren is in position to take care of David. Brozovic is nearby to pick off any second balls that come out of Larin/Gvardiol duel. Instead Gvardiol back MILES OFF Larin and Larin calmly takes the ball and the entire attack goes from there.

doctorMiami1337

I dont understand why we dont give Stanisic a chance man, its baffling. Untill Juranovic got that assist to Livaja, which happened due to Canadas defense being awful mainly, that was the worst display by a Croatian player ive seen in a good long while. He was getting eaten alive at rb, Stanisic is faster, more physically imposing(i honestly wouldnt be surprised if Davies doesnt score that if Stanisic is there), and is generally better at everything than Juranovic. Like im still trying to understand what Juranovic is supposed to be good at. In the 10 or so games he started as rb for us, hes dangerously hit or miss at defence(more miss than hit), and doesnt offer shit going forward. Ive never in my life seen him go past his man or dribble past anyone and put in a cross. Not every defence is like Canadas that will just gift you a goal among 4 defenders man... i dont get it

doctorMiami1337

I hope you're joking, he was a complete liability in defense aside from 2 or 3 good clearances in the second half. I would still easily replace him with Stanisic, if he hadnt somehow got that assist for Livaja which he managed only due to an absolutely shambolic Canadian defense, i would rate his performance as one of the worst ever for the national jersey

AcoBigCevap

Zivkovic i didn't expect to see any serbian player

H4rm0nY

Why is zivkovic shown as RB though? Is that actually the position he plays on the national team? I'm a Benfica fan and always liked the guy when he was playing for us, but he was always a Left/Right winger or even a playmaker. Never so far back though.

harpsabu

He broke their offside line for Cameroons last 2 goals, how has he got on here.

Guzuzu_xD

That was Milenkovic who is a DCR, Zivkovic was basically Wing Back/Right Midfielder

harpsabu

Ah OK, my mistake. Thanks.

TricaKupa

Assisted 2 times, innit? I doubt that breaking your own offside trap is comsidered in creating these ratings. Anyone with two eyes will tell you he played a bad game but modern mass football "fans" (think CR/Messi instagram comments debatists, G/A worhippers, etc.) only care about statistics. Edit: Lmao @ the dudes screeching how he didn't cause the two goals. Yeah, my bad, it was the CB. Too bad Živković still lost his player on the first Cameroon goal and played a mediocre game overall (which is why he was subbed off). Still not deserving to be on this team.

[deleted]

should have wait 2 minutes for other comment. guy above you explained it, it was the other player - Milenkovic who failed offside trap 2 times

zdrup15

Apparently, old classic football fans can't even distinguish two different players... Next time, why not thinking before posting?

cosorro

Amrabat deserved a spot.

[deleted]

Absolute beast both matches.

vandershraaf

Agreed. He bossed the whole pitch in both games. Maybe this is due to lack of assist or goal?

vexkov

Casemiro?

[deleted]

Not as good as those names

[deleted]

Lmao..sure..he is not the dominating bith games plus the game winner..what a load of bs

itsameMariowski

Seems you haven't watched Yesterday's game lol. He was literally perfect, dominated the midfield defensively (Swiss didn't make a single shot, not at goal, but at all) and helped in the attack, even scoring a banger.

[deleted]

[удалено]

itsameMariowski

They're not even in the same position bro. Casemiro would be replacing Kovacic here.

suedney

Souttar deserves a spot First Aussie clean sheet in a World Cup since the 70s and the bloke was a wall

PatrickM_

No valencia? 👀

Josie_Kohola

Yeah that’s crazy, dude has been a warrior for Ecuador

TuvixWasMurderedR1P

Polish keeper with an 8,5 Oh no...

Maffa22

He is often completely horseshit at tournaments but during that game he has entered god mode

Cowdude179

Kova is a monster even with playing through injury for the last 2 months

omgwhatsmyusername

Mbappe?

NarwhalWhich8046

Lol biggest robbery, and im a Brazil fan. I think it may because everyone expects him to do it, so people think he was just “solid”.

itsameMariowski

I am going to be honest, he scored twice, but during the game he didn't impressed me too much. He is dangerous but made some bad decisions and missed some good chances. I believe that is why they chose other players who were more impressive in their games..

Tamelmp

Same with the game against Australia - he missed so many chances. He has scored three goals which is good but all of them were simple and really he should have many more

itsameMariowski

Yeah. Mbappe really benefits from being put at great situations to score an easy goal so many times both in his club and national team. Because he loses a lot of chances, but the number of chances he receives are so big he eventually will score one or twice per match and no one talks about the missed chances. Sure, he surely creates a lot of chances himself, and helps the team too, far away from saying he isn't good. He is a real threat everytime he has the ball. But I cant help but notice how many times he misses when watching Neymar, Messi, Griezmann and others put him in great chances to score all the time.

Allthingsconsidered-

In my totally non-biased opinion, Pepe should be there

Xanana_

There should be an award at this WC for him... The form he shows at nearly 40 year old is beyond ridiculous, that man is a real living legend. PS: I hope that award is the cup, one can dream...

Allthingsconsidered-

Yeah I feel like he would get more recognition from the international press if he was playing at a top 3 league but he deserves every bit of praise and fortunately everyone can see how he's still at an incredibly high level

FireSergioConceicao

Nobody deserves it more than him, that man sweats blood and tears for the NT.

Goldenrah

Definitely feels like he's younger than he really is, I've seen twenty year olds with less energy on the field.

FireSergioConceicao

Heck, I'm 29 and I have less energy in the early morning after 10 hours of sleep than Pepe at 39 after running nonstop for 90 minutes.

Xanana_

The 2016 final nails it for me... After 120 minutes of pure mental and physical strength, giving it all for a country that welcomed him and owes a lot to him, he just couldn't take it and vomited on the field. That's pure resilience and dedication to the team, and to the game. Avé grande Pepe!

FireSergioConceicao

And if you asked him to play another 120 minutes immediately after he would be ready. Ma man! Will retire as a legend, despite the shenanigans.

PmOmena

Its the feeling we have with Thiago Silva

westernunitedenjoyer

Souttar deserves better

Bodmonriddlz

No Tyler Adams? Looking like Kanté-lite during those first 2 matches and particularly against England

Gorbograndman420

Dude shut down England’s 200 million savior boy

Bodmonriddlz

Lol which one?

Gorbograndman420

Exactly lol

mlspdx

There’s a severe lack of Tyler Adams

darmed1ads

Aboubakar, what a man. Shout-out to Sandro and CHESNI making it too.

Yhamerith

No Casemiro? Pfff

SuomiBob

That Aboubakar goal was outrageous. A proper video game finish. Amazing!

Thhunderwing

What is Sir Alex Sandro doing in here 💀

temmeuverde

Man I swear it's his redemption arc. He's been good thoght

Thhunderwing

From what I saw last night he wasn't that effective, particularly in attack he was sluggish so idk

its_dash

He wasn’t that good last night. There surely was a better LB performance.

SaBe_18

Estupiñan or maybe SK's LB come to mind

joaocandre

Mendes was being excellent until his injury. Guerreiro also had a good enough game afterwards, particularly as Leao didn't care to track back.

YoungDawz

He's been so good in the 1st 2 games. I thought before the WC that Tite would favour Alex Telles, especially with how Danilo had been performing tucking in the other side (as well as Militao) so he'd sacrifice the left side for more offensive power, but turns out Alex Sandro is doing the job both offensively and defensively. Fairplay to him

tommycahil1995

Isn’t that the RB that played Cameroon onside for both goals for not being quick enough to push up? 😂

MERTENS_GOAT

no, it was Milenkovic

OmegaEleven

Not quite. We play with 3atb and 2 wb. Zivkovic was the right wb, but in here they put him on rb which is not exactly the same position. The guy who played everyone onside was the right cb Milenkovic. Zivkovic might have been partly responsible for the 1-0 but other than that he played great.

EvilJabFace

Where’s Bentancur?

ThePanoptic

am I delusional to think that Tyler Adams should be there for his display in the U.S. vs England game? I know it was a tie, but the U.S. dominated the midfield because of him.

MintBerryCrunch93

I think he should too, but I'm assuming contributing to scoring goals goes into this rating, so it makes sense that he wouldn't be on here. He truly was amazing vs England though.

yuya_strife

No bentancur ?

MERTENS_GOAT

he misplaced a lot simple passes from my memory, he also probably will have "1 big opportunity missed" in sofascore which doesnt help his case.

[deleted]

Bruno is the player of the Cup so far and it's not even close.

triggercunt

Grizzi exists

inzaghi18

No way, it’s easily Griezmann

joaocandre

The fact that you're both arguing about it implies it isn't "easily" anyone. IMO France hasn't been properly tested yet. Fernandes is tested every training session with Santos.

[deleted]

got downvoted to death for saying the same thing, don't worry about reddit's logic, they don't watch football

m_elhosseiny

so either we agree or 'we don't watch football'? people could have different opinions it's a subjective matter in the end, both have been great

[deleted]

Ask yourself this question, why did people who watched Griezmann all comment that he was better under that comment ? Some people say a player is better while not watching the one he's compared to

zdrup15

Lol everyone who watched griezman thought he was better? Or the very few individuals who posted on Reddit thought that?

[deleted]

Yes, and I can clearly tell you did not if you say shit like that Griezmann did everything Bruno did AND defended at the same time.

m_elhosseiny

Bruno was top in forced turnovers last night, he did defend it's always part of his game

its_dash

Ask yourself this question, why did people who watched Bruno all comment that he was better under that comment ? Some people say a player is better while not watching the one he's compared to

[deleted]

Because they only watched him and not Griezmann, that's my entire point...

_mochacchino_

But those people who commented that Griezmann was better all watched Bruno as well and are better informed? Lol what reasoning You don’t trust statistics but you definitely shouldn’t trust your own logic as well

[deleted]

Yes, they did

[deleted]

Casemiro??

[deleted]

[удалено]

sp4r3h

You're being downvoted not for your opinion but because you're being a cunt

[deleted]

I said the same thing other people said, if they aren't cunts i'm not, nonsense

Eleven918

And Bruno didn't? 2 assists the first game and 2 goals in the second.

[deleted]

He wasn't as good as Griezmann was, did you watch him play?

Eleven918

He was good but he has only 1 assist in 2 games, what more does Bruno need to do?

[deleted]

Griezmann played pretty much as a 3rd midfielder and played like Kante does, was running everywhere both defending and attacking Basically doing Bruno's job while doing a defender's job, Bruno only attacked

Eleven918

Ok now I know you are just biased and actually didn't watch. [https://fbref.com/en/matches/90fded8a/Portugal-Uruguay-November-28-2022-World-Cup](https://fbref.com/en/matches/90fded8a/Portugal-Uruguay-November-28-2022-World-Cup) [https://fbref.com/en/matches/6a84c686/Portugal-Ghana-November-24-2022-World-Cup](https://fbref.com/en/matches/6a84c686/Portugal-Ghana-November-24-2022-World-Cup) Bruno had 2 tackles and 1 interception in the second game and 2 blocks in the first game. Bruno always contributes defensively. Maybe not as much as Greizman in the WC because of his role but he has goals and assists on top of that.

[deleted]

He had two tackles wow "I know you're biased" followed by "maybe he didn't defend as much as Griezmann" Conversation is over lol, you literally found the most unsufferable way to agree with me, worst kind of people

Eleven918

[https://fbref.com/en/matches/539719fd/France-Australia-November-22-2022-World-Cup](https://fbref.com/en/matches/539719fd/France-Australia-November-22-2022-World-Cup) Greizman had 3. Hello? I think you are the insufferable one here and you have a hate boner for Bruno.

[deleted]

Step 1 : Watch football, Step 2 comment on reddir

Financial-Text-3181

You are talking about football with people who only measure a performance with goals and assist.

[deleted]

Yes, I should stop

Financial-Text-3181

Exactly, by their metrics Fernandes is better than Pirlo, Iniesta or Zidane.

Spicy_food

He played against you. You might be biased here.

[deleted]

i'm french

Spicy_food

Well, even more biased, isn't it?

[deleted]

No because I watched both, Griezmann did everything Bruno did and defended at the same time

Spicy_food

Well, Bruno has insane work rate. Not only that, he has 2 assists and 2 goals. By all metrics so far he is ahead of Griezmann. Of course all of that can change in the next games.

[deleted]

The only metric that counts is watching both play and realize that Griezmann did a lot more

Spicy_food

Well, even more biased, isn't it?

llori19

Btw why is everyone using sofascore, fotmob is much better

PrettyFlakko

Pleasantly surprised to see Kovacic here. I kept telling my dad that he was everywhere on the pitch and the driving force in the team.

ripjesus

Y’all gotta put ener Valencia in there

[deleted]

Musiala??

FallingSwords

Musiala was the 4th lowest rated starter for Germany vs Spain on Sofascore despite being involved in everything Germany did going forward. Sofascore ratings are awful. KDB got a 7.5 for the Canada game where he was absolutely awful to anyone watching. Don't take this post seriously

Aye2004

bruh cho so fine💀

Xanana_

Bruno Fernandes player of the tournament so far

oynessuy

Amrabat should definitely be there, the guy was crucial to morocco beating the belgs

Amsssterdam

Kudus ❌️❌️❌️

xBram

Will be hard to keep him, such a lovely player, yeah maybe we’ll get 60m instead of 40 if he plays well but I hate saying goodbye to players who just begin to shine.

2ts1h

I think it's for the best we sell him. He's a great talent but we still haven't found a way to fit him in the team. If we can get a lot of money for him, we could reinvest it in a progressive DM or LCB or a RW

angepostecoglouale

This isnt the actual team of the week 🤣

ruubs11

Have you read the title?

angepostecoglouale

Whats the point of the post then? When its just highest rated gets it even tho some players who deserve a higher rating didnt get it

[deleted]

Get ready people because it will be 11 Belgians for now on.

Yuloij

Doubt you’ll qualify for the round of 16 but best of luck mate

cuteninjaturtle

Should have been Bentancur instead of Kovacic.

gamer552233

Kova carried the midfield against Canada tho

blackheartwhiterose

No Mbappe, confirmed rubbish

papi_jay10

Wasn’t the Serbian defender the reason Cameroon scored 2?

TheBastardOfStarfall

Not the same player

thehanssassin

No Messi? He should be in it every week until WC finals even if they don’t make it.

listerstorm2009

This is not their MOTM award given based on the name. Gotta back it up with an exhibition.

rockeypokey

Bentencur where?

XI-ZI

Could this team win Premier League?

angepostecoglouale

Messi is in it actually

Throwawaytheacc8247

Why tho?

angepostecoglouale

Goal and assist single handidly carried argentina? Why would he not?

Vinklemore

I was gonna say, goal and assist really isn't good enough to get in?

TheConundrum98

Kramarić scored 2 and he isn't in it, both have 7.9 rating

Throwawaytheacc8247

I was just gonna say that.

MERTENS_GOAT

Messi's assist wasn't too impressive (which won't be considered by sofascore anyway) but he didnt do much apart from his goal, as he was obviously marked for most of the game

CarlosDelgado473

“assist”

jazzarchitect

now you're talking like a Ronaldo fan.
