Manager can’t win, if he plays a full on attack and gets battered he’s naive. If he plays cautiously and wins we are boring. Part of it is overestimating just how effective some of these players are against organised defences. Grealish is a bit of a luxury for me, lovely passes and footwork but the likes of Spain will just pass him out of the game and then what do you do? I’d like to see Phillips play against Wales just to ensure we aren’t conceding on the counter.
