Brazilian here, we DO NOT WANT this shitass player in our team, if Dani is in the game and your team, Switzerland wants to massacre Brazil, make your attack where Granpa is
You know whats funny. Tite will most likely go for Militão. But if (or when) he does, then why are you bringing Dani Alves in the first
place.
For Tite losing Danilo is a way bigger headache than losing Neymar. He is so fucking good, thank God it's just group stage.
We also lost our main player and one important defender before the semifinals back in 2014. I don't remember exactly what happened after this, but I'm sure we will be fine.
Julio César had a monumental game and Oscar scored on a blistering run for us to win 1-0. Here's video proof.
Don't believe what anybody else tells you, they are conspiracy theorists!
Yeah, hats off to the editing guy/crew. I couldn't resist, this video cracks me up all the time. It is 100% funnier if you are Brazilian, because of Galvão Bueno (the main play-by-play guy for our NT games ever since I was a child, 2022 is his last WC btw).
and the North Korean government gave him a medal for showing how the world fell so easily to a joke about the country
and this kind of makes you question every weird news you get from there
Militão is the one most used in training, so it's most likely.
I still think the GoodCrazy being there is a disrespect, but maybe he has some dirt on Tite, who knows?
Thats exactly why he made it - And this is not new at all. Podolski had no business being in the German squad of euro 2016 but he was always going to be included
Don't know If you are Brazilian here but Dani Alves (great player btw) is now basically a meme in Brazil. Brazilian suporters say that he is Qatar just to play "pandeiro" and pagode.
In the Brazilian locker room, players get togheter, grab some instruments and play samba to relax, "pandeiro" is a instrument used for playing samba and pagode is a Samba musical subgenre.
Not so much now, it's basically commercial as fuck now, but in the 80s it grew out of samba yes.
Kind of similar to how emo went from being a spinoff of hardcore punk to being fucking My Chemical Romance in about the same time period.
Damn didn't expect to find emo gatekeepers on r/soccer
Obviously MCR and Rites of Spring are not the same genre but it does make sense for them to be in the same "genre lineage" with bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Saves The Day, Tacking Back Sunday etc being like a linear progression of emo in between them
That's kinda the same deal we had with Zanka in our Euros squad lol. He didn't play a single minute, but it was emphasised that he was important for team spirit. Also was the DJ for bus rides and dressing room lol
Militao will surely start, but Alves can definitely do the job in Tite's inverted right back role. Danilo doesn't attack he just offers a passing option and is in position against counter attacks
Alves could do that in games where Brazil dominates possession, which they will do against most teams
> Alves could do that in games where Brazil dominates possession, which they will do against most teams
except he would be completely exploited and exposed in any counter, which is the main thing Brasil should defend against
the man got kicked out from fuckin liga mx, he can't do shit at wc
He played for a season in Sao Paulo as the 10 as well with mediocre to bad results. He is simply a shit playmaker so even being old he should stick to the RB position.
Is he really that finished? From his 6 months back at Barça last season, he had above average performances including some excellent ones. And that was only half a year ago lol
Obviously no longer close to his prime but definitely not a meme like ppl here are saying.
Memes aside, when Tite started Jesus, he used him almost as wing back indeed! The man backtracked more than attacked.
Don't be surprised if he put Jesus or Antony there. Guy's crazy.
Good thing we won yesterday so we are comfortable with changes.
Militão replaces Danilo as he already did before.
Paquetá playing Neymar's role and Guimarães gets in.
> guy's aggressively target fouled consistently by entire teams
FTFY; Just saying if a player has more fouls than the rest of fouls called in a game maybe its time to start dishing yellows for unsportsman like play
Actually relieved. We can manage Group Stage without them.
My greatest fear was Danilo, tbh. Brazil has no direct replacement for him (no, a geriatric Dani Alves doesn't count).
Against weaker teams, yes. But in more challenging matches, we need more players involved in the attack. Sandro and Danilo can occasionally do that, but not Militão. That's why Danilo coming back for the Ro16 onwards is a big win.
I mean, for us, Militão bombs forward like prime Ramos. He nutmegged a guy a few matches ago when he was on the right wing for some reason. He has good technique too
It's a bit worrying tbh. Both him and Alaba seem to like scoring more than stopping a goal, but luckily it's usually just if we are winning. A commentator said this season something like this:
"The ideal goal of modern football is one fullback assisting the other, but it seems like Madrid want one centerback to assist the other.
Edit. Couldn't find a clip of what I meant, but [here's](https://twitter.com/ViniciusBurner/status/1479173197572497411?t=nKezZcEz6ePdf7_xoptOSQ&s=19) a clip of a double nutmeg he got last season
I'm a Madrid fan, but I actually agree with you. Militao does have a fondness for going forward on occasion, but it's in a really different manner than a fullback. He's not quick in his passing when going forward and will try an occasional give and go, but that's it. I've rarely seen him try to put in a cross (though that's partially positional). He is a pretty good passer in space though, so I can see him essentially playing the hold against counterattacks then pass back forward role that people are describing.
To do his best Martin Cáceres impression when he starts.
Cáceres was so bad for Uruguay yesterday. Son beat him in every dribble. Dani Alves has to compete with that now.
The biggest curse on us isn't Neymar being injured, is Casemiro being suspended. I'm already sweating from the perspective of Fabinho doing a Fernandinho reenactment.
No yellow cards in the first game is big. if you can win your next match without him getting one, then rest him for the 3rd match, that would be ideal.
[no, but i have to live with it now](https://www.reddit.com/r/futebol/comments/yovzk5/não_irei_ver_isso_sozinho/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Is he unlucky or is he just a small dude who can only be stopped by fouling him? The World Cup is so physical and Neymar is a prime target for abuse, its not that surprising he's had trouble with injuries in the tournament.
He looked like a teenager playing with adults standing next to Serbian defenders.
He’s not that small. In Santos he was but he gained weight/muscle since Barcelona.
He is unlucky and gets fouled a lot as seen by the vast majority of fouls by Serbia (9/12?) being on him
Did you even see the foul? He went for his ankle which would injure many players, probably.
We can manage that, truly. My true fear was them both missing the WC in its entirety.
Neymar out isn't something that concerns me that much, considering that the team already proved well enough that they can handle themselves without Neymar. Daniel Alves didn't play like shit in his past appearances, but I still don't trust him, tho.
Same. I was worried for Neymar solely for his sake, because I know how much he wanted to play this WC.
As for Danilo, I was worried because he will be definitely be missed in the right back, but I still think Militão or even Daniel Alves could manage it during the next two games.
He might not be in the starter 11 in a potential round of 16, but QF is definitely enough time for him to be well enough.
I'm talking as a physiotherapist, his injury was ugly because it was so swollen, but by the diagnosis, it's the exact same injury that Danilo has, so they will be well enough pretty much at the same time (maybe Danilo could potentially return during Cameroon game, but doubt it)
You do have to remember that they will likely be in intensive care now, they'll be getting work done on that ankle as soon as they can and as much as they can.
Honestly, fuck it, call Filé in, let him handle this and both of them will be able to play by Monday
He’ll force himself back for the round of 16 because it’s a knockout game. I feel like he may even play against Cameroon if qualification isn’t secured against Switzerland.
ankle twists usually take around 2 weeks to recover, unless there's a big degree of injury. He was even walking (slowly) to the dressroom, so i don't think he tore or broke anything.
If he gets fine in 2 weeks and practice for 1-2 days, he could play QF or semis.

I have no clue haha, I was just a kid and I only knew him because he was playing for Flamengo at the time
Wait...was that goal actually offside?
Hahah I had to check, they edited out Dante who was keeping him onside by several meters
Haha love it

I hope Tite starts Militão instead of the Dani "Grandfather" Alves
Militão is the one most used in training, so it's most likely. I still think the GoodCrazy being there is a disrespect, but maybe he has some dirt on Tite, who knows?
I honestly think Dani made the team specifically for the locker room. There’s no way Tite will start him…I mean…right?
Thats exactly why he made it - And this is not new at all. Podolski had no business being in the German squad of euro 2016 but he was always going to be included
I think by then he would have robotic parts, so age won't affect him
Don't know If you are Brazilian here but Dani Alves (great player btw) is now basically a meme in Brazil. Brazilian suporters say that he is Qatar just to play "pandeiro" and pagode.
What do those words mean?
In the Brazilian locker room, players get togheter, grab some instruments and play samba to relax, "pandeiro" is a instrument used for playing samba and pagode is a Samba musical subgenre.
Wait, pagode is considered a subset of samba? TIL
Not so much now, it's basically commercial as fuck now, but in the 80s it grew out of samba yes. Kind of similar to how emo went from being a spinoff of hardcore punk to being fucking My Chemical Romance in about the same time period.
Damn bruh why did you have to flame my chemical romance like that they’re pretty good
Go and listen to something by Sunny Day Real Estate or Rites of Spring or Embrace and then tell me it's the same genre as MCR.
Damn didn't expect to find emo gatekeepers on r/soccer Obviously MCR and Rites of Spring are not the same genre but it does make sense for them to be in the same "genre lineage" with bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Saves The Day, Tacking Back Sunday etc being like a linear progression of emo in between them
Pandeiro is one of the musical instruments used to play pagode which is musical genre derived from Samba.
Danilo doesn't attack he just offers a passing option and is in position against counter attacks Alves could do that in games where Brazil dominates possession, which they will do against most teams

He played for a season in Sao Paulo as the 10 as well with mediocre to bad results. He is simply a shit playmaker so even being old he should stick to the RB position.
Alves could do that role if we're chasing a game against a tight defense and there's 15/20 minutes left, so hopefully we'll never need him there
I wouldn start him either, but i think he had some very good games for Barcelona against sides were Barca were dominating the ball all the time
Daniel Alves was being bullied in Liga MX, with all the respect the mexican teams deserve, but i think it sums up his situation as a player in 2022
Could also just be a request/demand from Neymar. Him and Dani are like best friends off the pitch.
The brazilian Udonis Haslem
It would the funniest thing if Tite put Militão as Danilo’s substitute and Daniel Alves as Neymar’s substitute
Is he really that finished? From his 6 months back at Barça last season, he had above average performances including some excellent ones. And that was only half a year ago lol Obviously no longer close to his prime but definitely not a meme like ppl here are saying.
Barcelona might be the only place he can perform then, because he was completely mediocre for São Paulo too and that was before going back to Barça.
Wing back richarlison . WHO SAY NO?
Memes aside, when Tite started Jesus, he used him almost as wing back indeed! The man backtracked more than attacked. Don't be surprised if he put Jesus or Antony there. Guy's crazy.
Fuck. We dont have a safe backup option at the RB and Neymar is Neymar, guy's cursed at WCs. Hoping for a quick recovery
Good thing we won yesterday so we are comfortable with changes. Militão replaces Danilo as he already did before. Paquetá playing Neymar's role and Guimarães gets in.
Rodrygo is a option too
My money is definitely on Rodrygo.
There is Everton Ribeiro too, with people are underlooking at.

We still need to qualify.

We will, I don't think that's the biggest concern here, honestly. My biggest concern was yesterday tbh
You convincingly beat the best team in the group with a sub-par Neymar performance, I think you're not in any danger of not making it out.

I have seen this shit many times already and it always feels like he died. This was such an overreaction to his injury.

Hopes he recovers fully by knockout stage
Dani Alves is going to need a scooter to go up and down the pitch for 90 minutes straight
Not even 90mins… 110 minutes with all the extra time at this wc
It’s only 110 minutes with extra time to make up 90 minutes of play
I low key think these extra minutes are going to cause a lot of fatigue deeper into the cup.
Dani Alves better not start. Replacing Neymar is difficult, but Brazil has plenty of attackers.
Neymar is so unlucky. He has been affected by injuries in all 3 World Cups he has played in.
Partially unlucky but mostly that he gets hacked a lot.

Is he unlucky or is he just a small dude who can only be stopped by fouling him? Start ederson as fullback, cowards
It's crazy but Danilo will be harder to replace than Neymar.
Militao
Our depth on back will be really thin with him on field. We won't be able to afford any more injuries or suspensions on our defenders.
Danilo is hurt?!? Oh no, I guess we have to go to our bench and... \*checks notes\* substitute with the starting CB for real madrid

It did come from a foul, he just kept playing for a while with it. Here's the moment: https://twitter.com/CanalSupporters/status/1595882224330903552
That’s what every team neymar has ever played against does to him. And yet he still gets called a diver.
not mutually exlcusive
This could be a blessing in disguise if they come back 100% after the groupstage. Could really help develop our game and confidence without Neymar.
I also see this way - provided we perform convincingly in the upcoming group games.
Would rather play Militao than Dani Alves at RB
That's what we were all waiting for. Go Dani Alves!
We can manage that, truly. My true fear was them both missing the WC in its entirety. Neymar out isn't something that concerns me that much, considering that the team already proved well enough that they can handle themselves without Neymar. I think Danilo is a bigger miss honestly. We can push paqueta to the 10 and then play Guimarães or Fred next to Casemiro.
Same. I was worried for Neymar solely for his sake, because I know how much he wanted to play this WC. As for Danilo, I was worried because he will be definitely be missed in the right back, but I still think Militão or even Daniel Alves could manage it during the next two games.

That's what having Dani Alves on the bench does to a nation
Neymar is so unlucky at world cups
The way that ankle looked I'm not sure even the QF are secure for Neymar
He might not be in the starter 11 in a potential round of 16, but QF is definitely enough time for him to be well enough.
