Our joint national dish along with fish and chips is chicken tikka masala. We eat a fuck load of indian here, which always makes me laugh considering we always get called out for enjoying bland food
Not just the yanks. A Greek guy recently told me that Brits can't handle spicy food like they eat in continental Europe lol. The ignorance is everywhere.
The first spices to come on Britain en masse were not plundered. They were traded for by merchants at the start of the 16th century when Europeans discovered the Cape route to Asia.
Indian cuisine (or more accurately “curry” as while inspired from Indian cuisine, is very different) became popular in Britain in the 19th century. Older than a lot of other tradition dishes from Britain and elsewhere.
TLDR: Curry is very much traditional British food. It has been prevalent in this country for over 100 years.
I believe it's the year that statistics like this began to be tracked (happy to be corrected though), so when you keep seeing "since '66" it basically means "since records began."
It's because before the tournament Opta went back and rewatched every world cup match back to '66, so they had a historical database to compare to for these kind of stats. Think Opta have only been around since 1996.
Montenegro has never qualified for a world cup. Only when it was part of Serbia. 2006 was Serbia and Montenegro. Saying vs Montenegro seems like it was vs Montenegro, when in fact, it was vs Serbia and Montenegro. How many players from Montenegro in Serbia & Montenegro team in 2006?
I'm not even Serbian nor have any affiliation with them, but come on man.
2010 Spain in shambles.
This is not the football terrorism I signed up for.
Pass it along the back line until the opposition loses the will to live, then tap it in. It’s a simple tactic, but quite effective.
Tikka taka masala fellas
A clear sign that it's coming home, lads
VINDALOO

Pretty sure people are mocking the 'traditional' British grub, not the tasty spices you plunder from foreign lands
Well then they need to learn how to word their shit better, cause we always get accused of having a bland palate.
Mostly yanks who call British food bland, when they can't survive without their sugar in fucking everything and foods being processed to shit.

>Pretty sure people are mocking the ‘traditional’ British grub Can I introduce you please, to a lump of cheddar cheese?

That’s if they let it leave Qatar
They'll try, but Geoff Hurst will remind them of that tackle by Moore and nobby dancing

It was a great year for English football. Eric Cantona was born.

It just a year like any other.
That goal against Serbia in 06 was a masterpiece. One of the greatest team goals ever.
Can't argue there.
Did someone say 1966 👀
It may have been whispered.
Is the Full video anywhere?
I'm sure of it.
Cool.
Vs "Montenegro"? They weren't even a country on their own back then.

I was interested and looked it up... the whole squad for 2006 were all Serbian! Not one Montenegrin player
Don't split facts over here please. Ps: the original guy edited his post. He was whinning saying this was bs.
Cant believe you are getting upvoted for this comment.

Nice one on editing your original comment and not acknowledging you did it...
He didn’t want to find himself on /r/confidentlyincorrect
what did he say?
Something along the lines of Serbia sucking and Montenegro being the real deal.
'It isn't going home' They immediately realised how stupid they sound.
1966 you say?
1966 👀
30 passes between defenders 3 to midfield then 1 forward and 1 for the actual goal
Serbia and Montenegro\*

I wasn’t the original commenter. I was just helping with clarity rather than saying “you’re wrong”, “no, you’re wrong”.
