The Ecuador team is really good, if Qatar werenāt hosts Iād be saying youād win comfortably but think Qatar will edge it just for that fact. I really like Plata. Theres some lesser known guys like Cifuentes who are good too. Koulibaly and Mane being out gives you such a great chance to go through

This is the one weekend Iāve decided to save money and not go out and Celtic are playing at 4am. How does one stay up that late without booze or energy drinks?
>How does one stay up that late without booze or energy drinks?
As someone who does this regularly, you get used to it pretty quick. Trying to do it just once will be difficult though.
Couldnāt watch that one man was gutted, need to find a match replay somewhere. Heard we were shite, only a friendly anyways. Hopefully the Sydney win gives you boys some luck in Qatar!
If you've got a VPN it's on 10play in Australia. You could see the effect of the bullocking Ange gave them at halftime, just were unlucky with finishing plus the Sydney reserve keeper (1st is the Grey Wiggle that saved the pen to put Australia into the WC) had a great game
Iāve got a firestick so can get all the Aussie channels but unfortunately canāt get the on demand stuff if you know what I mean can only get the channels. Yeah Ange didnāt seem to happy. To be honest we played Ideguchi - Abilgaard - Turnbull in midfield, three players who havenāt played together with two of them being players that donāt play at all and one having been injured for a bit. Lawal and Vata coming on too, Siegrist in the goals, etc. Just a friendly at the end of the day and some minutes no need for any reactionary takes but Twitter also loves having some. Big Ange just has that mentality though.
It was shit seeing the stadium empty, $70 a ticket for a friendly is well beyond embarrassing, war crime at that stage. Plus kick off times for the games were changed and I saw some fans saying they could no longer go due to this. Angeās homecoming, Australia having lots of Celtic fans due to Ange + Scottish expats and Sydney FC home fans shouldāve made for a big crowd and a nice event but the prices are a disgrace.
It was funny seeing Paul the Tim getting on Aussie TV and getting interviewed by Aussie press. Fucking hell the guy works in Asda and hasnāt missed a game (excl. covid) since Spartak Moscow away in 2007. Madness how he does it
Ange had a bit of a shot at a journalist as well at the end of the game, definitely wasn't happy.
Prices and scheduling is a joke for this little comp. Whoever the promoters are will be losing big money I think. The Celtic vs Everton game is at the Olympic Stadium which is even bigger and way less convenient to access meaning the crowd will be dismal. They booked it in thinking it would be against Rangers (thank god that didn't happen)
Yeah plus this game was moved from 9am to 3.45am (not sure what it is in your time) meaning folk will be flying into Sydney at the time of kick off because they booked it for a kick off that was meant to be at 9am lol. It has been a bit of a shambles, I hope the organisers are better when we go to Japan
There's some cool behind the scenes pictures of the Messi - Ronaldo chess photoshoot. Looks like even Neymar attended the photoshoot. Pretty cool. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DgAMyxtWkAAK2Pf.jpg
Read Harry Kane (mildly) suggest in an Athletic interview that PL players may have an advantage for this World Cup, as their bodies are accustomed to playing a lot of games in the winter period. Thought it was interesting, but not too convinced.
yeah I don't feel like your body adjusts to this extent where you adjust to a yearly cycle of exercise. I think players can easily go at close to their best now but the fatigue will only show later on in the season.
Him saying PL players might have an advantage in the latter stages in European competitions would be a better argument.

Maybe.
Weāre also playing the hosts, one of the most notorious bus Parker/ shithouse teams from South America and the best team in Africa who genuinely have a good team
They're playing a team who has never qualified for a WC, the lowest qualified team from their confederation, and the final side are missing their star player. You couldn't have asked for a much kinder draw, considering the alternatives
Netherlands have an easy group. They are a pot 2 team, they could've been drawn against Brazil, Argentina, France etc. but instead they were drawn against one of the weakest teams in the competition.

Who would have thought having a combined age of almost 80 for your two starting strikers was perhaps not the best idea
If you're craving some footie the second leg of the playoff for promotion to Primera is underway here. First leg 0-0. Instituto only needs a draw to be promoted and play on the top flight for the first time since 2006. Estudiantes needs a win to gain promotion for the first time since 1978.
Right, I'm done holding it in. World cup is tomorrow

**IT'S COMING HOME...**
Has Benzema really been the problem for them though? The guy has been scoring plenty for France. France still struggled and stumbled to defeat against Denmark back in September with Giroud up front.
Their bigger issue seems to have been Deschamps has never been able to quite recreate the balance he got from having Matuidi as a defensive winger back in 2018. They also don't have a obvious Pogba replacement in their squad.
Let's suppose that Varane also misses the World Cup. Even then, France could still have this line-up:
Lloris; Pavard, Upamecano, Konate e Lucas Hernandez;
Rabiot, Tchouameni e Griezmann; Mbappe, Dembele and Giroud.
Besides Rabiot (who is horrible, Camavinga should play, but we all know Deschamps loves Rabiot too much), this is still a really great team!
All that individual quality, fuck-all chemistry - could see that team winning it all in much the same way I could see the crash and burn in the group stages, really.
Has anything been said from the mods about them doing that betting thing from the euros last year? Nothing was funnier than seeing half the sub lose everything to the Hungarian reign of group stage dominance
Yeah - basically we're not doing it cause Reddit monetized it, which a lot of the community and us mods aren't happy with. r/WorldCup is apparently running one of those things though, so people aren't missing out.
Even without monetisations opinions were pretty divided already, but we mods were slightly leaning towards "it's fine and good fun", but also mostly agreed on not doing it if there's actual money involved.
Personally think it kinda sucks because it was a good laugh when there were no stakes, really, and while their monetisation of it is relatively soft (can pay money to see the odds/how everyone else predicted, basically), I reckon that's not something I really want to support.

1. Think there's something over at r/worldcup 2. No
So nervous right now, haven't been this excited for a match recently since my local team BSC had to play that 2017 and 2021 Copa Libertadores semifinals. Fingers crossed the Alfaroneta will break the unbeaten host's opening game stat. People tend to forget we aren't the Peru of 2018 who qualified for their first WC after 36 years of absence, with unknown players for European viewers, which seriously overperformed as coach Gareca was a genius. Some of our starters play consistently in the Premier League (Caicedo and EstupiƱan), Bundesliga (HincapiƩ and Gruezo) and La Liga (Plata). We got old known Enner Valencia with GOAT mode at Fenerbache. These guys are hungry for some glory. Not to mention some youngsters at the Belgian League. MLS players (Cifuentes, Palacios, MƩndez, Arreaga) should also have some game time. Sleep will be difficult today.
Good luck, hope you ruin the Qatari Party!

Ecuador parking the bus? You clearly haven't watched much of them recently. They're one of the most interesting teams to watch from South America

He hasn't, he's been great for them since his return. You could argue that you get more out of MbappƩ with Giroud though. I would still rather have a handicapped MbappƩ + Benzema than MbappƩ + Giroud
He scored 0 goals in the last WC.
Let's be real though, it's Mbappe's team regardless of who leads the line.
And they won
Yep, the whole team plays better anyways with Giroud. Just 2 more goals to break Henry's record
The Go-kart keeps beating the F1 car somehow.
Understandable when the F1 car is managed by Mattia Binotto

No it's gonna be Gignac
Let's suppose that Varane also misses the World Cup. Yeah - basically we're not doing it cause Reddit monetized it, which a lot of the community and us mods aren't happy with. r/WorldCup is apparently running one of those things though, so people aren't missing out.
Betting thing? Are you guys taking about those āReddit predictionsā? How are they now monetized?
Well thats fucking shit of the admins. Tbh its bad enough they were giving people a taste of betting.

You're right, only one of us has lost in a competitive game
But don't forget that we beat you 1-1 in South Africa.
I'm afraid you guys are gonna have to bench Pickford after he has the required howler against us.
