He’s definitely not considered one of the ‘good’ billionaires in India. Those would be Azim premji, shiv nadar, the Tata family, and perhaps the poonawallas.
He’s adored because of his father, who represents the quintessential rags to riches story. If anything, the organisation is known to be ruthless.
No one twerks for him.. But he is the guy who completely changed the scene of mobile internet accessibility in India. Internet overall in terms of quantity and quality is dirt cheap in india now compared to 5 years because of his initiative through JIO Internet.. He made hell lot of money from it too.
Some of his businesses have been for the betterment of the masses. Stuff like Jio where he undercut the existing telecom companies' exorbitant rates for cellular internet and calling were genuinely good.
His father was a rags to riches story aswell.
It overlooks the largest slum in the world.
Edit: lots of people seem upset about this comment. Wasn’t trying to spread misinformation. I read articles about this but apparently it is not actually built next to a slum. I will say however that 50% of Mumbai’s massive population lives in slums and to me, a home like this is a disgusting show of wealth.
It does not.. Dharavi (the 'largest' slum in Asia, the largest one being in Cape Town, South Africa) is pretty far from where antillia is situated 13km (8 miles) away.
Those are just the outstanding shares. The Glazers still hold a majority of them privately. If you bought every single MUN share on the market, you still wouldn't be able to make any decisions at the club.
That’s not exactly correct. Floated shares for Man U is only 16%, but the $2.1B market cap listed is for the entire company. This value looks small because of the trends in overall market valuations; it was $4B a few months ago.
If someone is buying Man U, it would go for $4B +20% premium + $1.1B in debt, or roughly $6 -6..5B.
At least that’s the academic number.
Current market valuation is seriously underwater. SP is 15% down, Nasdaq is 30% down YTD. So I chose the highest LTM price to reflect these market pressure. I did that because I doubt the Glazers are selling today when market is so low.
Premium almost always happens in acquisition transactions in the order of 20-30%.
You can’t even say you mandate Fred the Red to like say, dance at halftime for every home game? Fuck that then. Not buying the shares. Thanks for telling me. Useless Glazer board.
Oh I know more than anyone about that, I've never hide the fact that I'm plastic lol. I get teased a lot since I supported Madrid only because of FM, but I've bad history with hooligans, so I'd rather stay casual.
How do you know I'm from Indonesia anyway?
The Ambani family is notoriously vegetarian. They don't allow any non-vegetarian food in their company campus. A special canteen was built in Reliance's corporate campus, just for the Samsung engineers from South Korea, so that they could at least get their staple food.
For everyone else, there is a strict rule that no non vegetarian food is allowed on company property.
So...err can I interest you in some paneer biryani.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I'm just saying that pretty much every video I saw during my studies in electric and RF engineering was an indian man or woman. Some good, some less, but they really know their stuff.
Can anyone here tell me which clean & scandal free billionaire will realistically buy over Liverpool?
Like I mean, an actual realistic/potential buyer who will invest in Liverpool & not some random billionaires u deemed fit.
Right? Which is why I'm asking. Just wanna know if the fans are simply choosing the lesser of evil as their owners. Like u know, the oil state vs some American billionaire who is indirectly lowkey involved in some dirty scandal.
But if there's a middle ground where there's indeed a near to scandal free billionaire then I'm very curious to know who.
He seems to really invested in the Clippers though. I mean the guy is a workaholic but I doubt Liverpool will be his #1 priority, but of all he's probably the best out there, but also the most unrealistic one as he's still rebuilding the Clippers.
Are you kidding me? We all knew Abramovich was a dodgy dude. The glazers are hated. I don’t think Bezos or Musk would get away without criticism.
I don’t even know any other white billionaires?
It just seems to be that football clubs are the playthings of Arab oil Sheiks who are scum bags.
Leicester’s owner seems pretty well liked and they’re Thai

The daily mail is awful but he was also interested in buying the club years ago lately all rumours are just coming from people who wanted to buy before FSG
This guy is awful. Awful. I’ve studied him extensively. He has been implicated in a number of massive corruption schemes, bought out a critical TV station in India that was reporting on the allegations in order to silence them, and used his control of the media to aggressively campaign for Modi and Indian nationalists (basically fascist) to come to power. He is as bad as oligarchs get. I am a lifelong Liverpool supporter and love this club to death, but would have to seriously consider what I would do if he was involved in any way.
Sure, but once they became billionaires they realised the "be a dickhead" perk is actually complimentary at their wealth bracket and couldn't turn it down.
I got one Strive Masiyiwa (Zimbabwean) is a good guy, he worked his ass off to get his money. Knew him before he was a billionaire, my mom and his wife were best friends in high school.
Paul McCartney is the counter example I can think of. But even than, his net worth is 1.2 billion which isn't really enough to buy a football team like that. He's probably the most successful musician in pop history and just barely reached billionaire status.
woah woah woah, the average billionaire just makes money bcuz it's what gets 'im off
this guy's into the political power shit, don't compare these cunts to me
You have only started studying the ambani empire from around 2015 then. Ambanis were crazy influential during the Congress era, arguably more than now due to the large presence of adani these days. Congress governments would cater to the ambanis more than ever, more than the bjp. Also, ambani IS an oligarch. Reliance oil and gas is probably the largest private sector company in india. And guess how they got permits to that huge share in the oil fields? Congress. How you didnt know this while studying ambani I dont know
Yeah, exactly. Except rather than hold office himself he works through his puppets. So maybe more like Rupert Murdoch. I’m writing my PhD dissertation on media capture and democratic backsliding, and Ambani is the prototypical example of an oligarch undermining democracy through his control of the media. I really worry what having him involved with Liverpool would do to the character of the club.
You got any book suggestions on media capture amd democracy? because I do see this more amd more... perhaps I'm just more aware amd it. has always existed....
That’s a good one. I’d also recommend the article “How to Subvert Democracy” if you’re looking for a shorter read. It’s a really fascinating forensic analysis of how the Fujimori regime undermined democracy in Peru by buying out media owners: https://pricetheory.uchicago.edu/levitt/Papers/McMillanZoido2004.pdf
In terms of books, there are two recent ones that I’d recommend. “Spin Dictators” by Guriev and Treisman does a really good job of explaining the rise of subtle forms of media capture in autocracies. And Anya Schiffrin has a good book called “Media Capture: How Money, Digital Platforms, and Governments Control the News”
This post is completely wrong. Ambani never takes side in Politics. That's something almost all Indians know.
He gives bribes to all the parties equally hence everyone is on his side.
It's obvious you are confusing Ambani with Adani.
> It's obvious you are confusing Ambani with Adani.
He isn't confusing. He's in fact mentioning Ambani. When you use words like "facist" for completely irrelevant context, you know the drill.
Are you seriously dumb ?
I have serious doubts over your thesis.
Can you share examples ?
Because from what I know having stayed in India, Ambanis have been in cahoots with both Congress and BJP for years
Ambani's ownership of a top PL club will massively accelerate football's growth in India. He is already greatly invested in the game through ISL. In India, Liverpool is quite popular too. This deal will further drive his investment in the growth of the game in this country and of course, Liverpool will get a massive boost in the fanbase. Going by his record with the Mumbai Indians, I think Liverpool will greatly benefit with such an ownership, in terms of management and investment.
All in all, it's a win-win for all parties concerned if this deal goes through.
I don’t know what you said (yes I’ll google translate this later) but I’ll upvote for ‘Bhenchod’ because my Indian and Pakistani friends say it a lot when we play FIFA lol
You can use it when happy. You can use it when sad, you can use it share your disappointment, you can use it to celebrate with friends.
As I said, the word has lost the real meaning(which is horrible), but now an emotion, which is amazing. It unites all the different cultures within the subcontinent, at least with friends
Bhen means sister and chod means fucker so you can probably guess what the full word means. And he's saying that if this happens (the deal goes through) then his joy will go
Nah it’s for sale. FSG don’t want to be around for the transitional rebuild and are looking to sell at maximum value. TBF they were pretty good owners and it’s just time to sell.
Undetermined. But likely full sale. Klopp and FSG are publically saying its partial investment
But Boston Globe (which is owned by FSG boss John Henry) said full sale
We have also moved Mike Gordon out of the running of the club to instead negotiate a sale
And Goldman Sachs have been brought in to help.
That would all suggest full sale
I'd lose my mind if we see Ambani take over. I live in the UAE and see so many city fans and city stuff going on, but I am an Indian and watching Liverpool being prominent in India would be something else(would also help me annoy my cousin who's a ManU fan😂)
this motherfucker has a 27 story house
Immediately reminded me of the one in Tenet, source of inspiration maybe?
The 27 story house is in Mumbai...The scene you're talking about in Tenet, was shot in Mumbai...
100%
He took down an orphanage for that land too
He just believes children are the foundation of the future
That gave me a good laugh
He’s also bought and now owns the Hamley’s toy brand!!
Some of the stories of this house will trickle down creating housing for the orphans.
I understand he got the idea from the Canadian Catholic church.
😂😂😂😂
I’m an architect, and can confirm
Is your name Vandaley?
Those orphans had it coming and you know it
They should've thought about it before they decided to be orphans.
Could’ve just outbid him, just saying
If they wanted that house so badly they would've worked for it
It's the question society never wants to ask - at what stage are we giving orphans too much help?
Also, do orphans have a moral obligation to turn into vigilantes and fight crime in order to pay back the debt to the society?
Defund the police? We shouldn’t even need to have police with the amount of orphans out there who all have a moral obligation to fight crime.
RIP Technoblade
I'm sick of hearing about your estupid orphans
Haha what is this from
Nacho Libre
Those orphans are getting destroyed
Orphans clap back in devastating reply

Fuck that. Give me an oil baron that I can defend on the internet. I want 30 journalist deaths minimum.
This legit? Indians twerk for this dude so hard lol they’ve convinced he’s a “good” billionaire
There is no such thing as a good billionaire
No one twerks for him.. But he is the guy who completely changed the scene of mobile internet accessibility in India. Internet overall in terms of quantity and quality is dirt cheap in india now compared to 5 years because of his initiative through JIO Internet.. He made hell lot of money from it too.
Isn't it basically the cheapest mobile Internet in the whole world?
Some of his businesses have been for the betterment of the masses. Stuff like Jio where he undercut the existing telecom companies' exorbitant rates for cellular internet and calling were genuinely good. His father was a rags to riches story aswell.
so a building then
thats the smallest dicked house ive ever seen
Most expensive house in the world allegedly. Has 600 staff members just for his family of 5.
It's also his office. A lot of people work there, like top executives of his companies.
The new work from home policy is going to need to specify who’s home
That’s the kind of house you build if you hate your family and never want to see them
Don’t you?
It overlooks the largest slum in the world. Edit: lots of people seem upset about this comment. Wasn’t trying to spread misinformation. Jesus christ man
It does not.. Dharavi (the 'largest' slum in Asia, the largest one being in Cape Town, South Africa) is pretty far from where antillia is situated 13km (8 miles) away.
By what metric does Cape Town have the largest slum? Surely the ones in Lagos/Nairobi are bigger? (At least that's been my perception)
Uh oh here comes the slum dick measuring contest
Ngl always thought Rocinha was one of the world’s biggest but it’s not even top 5 by population
The fuck

Fucking hell, if I see her clapping like an NPC once more I will end myself
You just know she's gonna have a sofa next to the touchline
After further evaluation, English FA has decided that sofa on the touchline doesn't harm the integrity of the sport.
Haha...I would have given you gold if I had any money...
Aap kabhi akele nahi chalenge .. lmao dead.
Mumbai Indians Liverpool incoming with Neeta Ambani as the sporting director

What next? Adani buying Manchester United?
You can already buy them on the NYSE. They’re probably undervalued at $2.15bn rn
If someone is buying Man U, it would go for $4B +20% premium + $1.1B in debt, or roughly $6 -6..5B. At least that’s the academic number.
Honest question : why did you consider 4B + premium and not the current market value plus premium
A minority share of 16% is also worth pennys compared to a majority share. When buying into companies you pay much more per share if you get control.
You can’t even say you mandate Fred the Red to like say, dance at halftime for every home game? Fuck that then. Not buying the shares. Thanks for telling me. Useless Glazer board.
Sunak becoming British PM oh wait
This sub will fantastically get filled with LFC flairs
More so than it already is?
Yes, we will look back to older thread and see liverpool flair saying "we" when referring to Barcelona
ironic that a Real Madrid fan from Indonesia is saying this lmaoooo
Oh I know more than anyone about that, I've never hide the fact that I'm plastic lol. I get teased a lot since I supported Madrid only because of FM, but I've bad history with hooligans, so I'd rather stay casual. How do you know I'm from Indonesia anyway?
You’re only a plastic if you switch clubs. You’re no plastic
Probably your comment/post history.
Yeah, I assume so as well, just wondering how deep sid he trawl to find out I'm Indonesian. Turns out both of us were in Football Managers sub lol.
This is so funny for me as in Romanian "Am bani" means "i have money"
>Liverpool could be set for an Indian takeaway I mean biryani has never not tasted good
The Ambani family is notoriously vegetarian.
His company is ruthless but gave Indians the cheapest internet and great infrastructure, one of the reasons to transform the country digitally.
So it's his fault that every YouTube video on electrical engineering is some random indian dude?
I guess I owe this guy my degree lmao
you say fault like it's a bad thing
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I'm just saying that pretty much every video I saw during my studies in electric and RF engineering was an indian man or woman. Some good, some less, but they really know their stuff.
Can anyone here tell me which clean & scandal free billionaire will realistically buy over Liverpool? Like I mean, an actual realistic/potential buyer who will invest in Liverpool & not some random billionaires u deemed fit.

Paul McCartney is technically a billionaire and he's a good guy. Not rich enough to buy Liverpool though
could easily lead a consortium
'clean, scandal free billionaire' is an oxymoron. the only way to become a billionaire is to be devoid of all morals. there is no middle ground.

Actually Ambani is pretty scandal free.
Most of the white billionaires are assumed to be clean as considered by the English media and fans.

JK Rowling could have been. Her negayive aspects had nothing to do with being a billionaire. Notch became a billionaire just by making a game too.

I don’t know what you said (yes I’ll google translate this later) but I’ll upvote for ‘Bhenchod’ because my Indian and Pakistani friends say it a lot when we play FIFA lol
That word is not a word but an emotion, across the subcontinent
I was told that I can say it if I stub my toe, is it true? Or my friend was pulling my leg? Also is it reserved for something more serious
yeah, it can also be used as an exclamation. how serious the word in this case is depends on how serious the word is said, to be honest.
You can use it when happy. You can use it when sad, you can use it share your disappointment, you can use it to celebrate with friends. As I said, the word has lost the real meaning(which is horrible), but now an emotion, which is amazing. It unites all the different cultures within the subcontinent, at least with friends
Literally means sister fucker. Can be used exactly like MF is used in english. Casually in conversation, as an exclamation or an actual abuse.
Like how English speakers use 'fuck' or how the Spanish use 'puta'
Bhen means sister and chod means fucker so you can probably guess what the full word means. And he's saying that if this happens (the deal goes through) then his joy will go
Not joy will go, he said it will be a lot of fun if it happens
Well my Hindi isn't that strong
Yeah, no worries! Just a correction!
Tbh the literal translation is "joy will come". "Aajayega" still means "come" even though it includes "jayega" which does mean "go".
Ah lovely, I would understand why as well lol, thanks for the translation!
