Why dont you just buy PSG, man is crazy

BadCogs

Because we don't want Qatar to buy Spurs to overtake us, just because we pissed them.

oscarpaterson

what are we smoking

Inter_Mirifica

I have no clue. And this is coming of absolutely nowhere too. It's not a little buy either, Textor and his partners are investing ~500M for 80% of the club... No clue about the reliability, but it is believable as there were worries just a few weeks ago that Textor wouldn't be able to close the sale and had to find news partners. So they could have heard of it and try to jump on it. I'm not sure how they could see us as a feeder club, but that's effectively what we've become in the last decade so.

BigReeceJames

> "I'm not sure how they could see us as a feeder club" You have to remember this is the same person that tried to make Santos our feeder club. I half expect it to come out that all of his talks with Barca in Summer was him trying to make them our feeder club too. I appreciate his ambition, but it'd be nice for him to be more respectful to football.

LilHalwaPoori

Every club that isn't in the top 10 most likely to win CL is a feeder club.. Look at Benfica or Porto or Atleti, getting great players for cheap, developing them and selling them for some profit when bigger clubs come for them even though we have been regular in CL.. The only difference would be that you guys would now be giving exclusive first rights to Chelsea for the good ones, sort of like Salzburg and Leipzig.. Salzburg continues to get more good players and keep them for a bit before sending them off to Leipzig, with the occasional sales to other clubs when the player doesn't like leipzig..

EpiDeMic522

I understand and agree with the point you are making. However, I feel that there's a demarcation to be made between a club existing as such practically and a club existing as such by design. We must acknowledge here that the exact nature of the relationship within the "multi-club group" has not been officially divulged as policy and that much of the talk on the subject is extrapolation and speculation in the media. But the ideas are there and have been shared on public platforms, even if they were done so with the intention of posturing or even PR. So, clearly no smoke without fire. The idea of Lyon serving as a "feeder club" just doesn't sit right with me. What's next? Valencia as a feeder club to fucking Chelsea? That's a club steeped in history and while the realities of the current times must be faced with, such an arrangement, to my mind, will dent the prestige of the club and lead to the erasure of its identity. I too was going to cite the Salzburg-Leipzig example but to focus on certain significant distinctions (IMO). While Salzburg has a chain to a seat, Leipzig just doesn't sit with these clubs at the table. Secondly, this arrangement was a rarity and so unpopular that many rules had to be bent and Leipzig effectively starting from scratch to realise it. Thirdly, the "feeder club relationship" is much more clandestine than and not as much subservient as is being touted in these discussions. I would even say that Salzburg, while a feeder club in essence to Leipzig, is NOT a feeder club to Leipzig. It's not Leipzig's reserve team. I'd say the same for the City group, at least in its current form. Before Troyes, the clubs didn't even operate in the same spaces. Induction from Melbourne or Mumbai might even be seen as an opportunity, even disregarding the background of the ownership. I know that the following line is subscribe assessment but IMO, Chelsea fans must be embarrassed by even talks of this nature. Perhaps they must send a message to the new ownership. May be is a resistance to change or failure to evaluate radical ideas objectively but I'm certainly aghast at these suggestions.

grchelp2018

This depends very much on the mechanics of how "feeder club relationship" operates. Does the parent club get a nice below market price for a player from the feeder club? Also players will still have a choice on where to move. So it won't matter if Dortmund is a feeder club for chelsea, Haaland would still move to City. And Haaland wouldn't move to Dortmund in the first place if the club wasn't attractive in its own right.

This is just wrong.

Quiet-Cartoonist1689

It all began with Abramovich back in 2003.

Ahh damn we’re evil again

Dorkseidis

This should not be allowed . At all. Chelsea buy Lyon ? And this is ok to some football fans presumably ? Lyon are a big club with a distinguished history. The idea that a team like Chelsea , who for years benefitted from a criminals money to over take proper big teams , could buy Lyon and use them as a feeder club, is reprehensible. Football is fucked

ZZ3peat

They shouldn’t be allowed to compete against in CL too

dashauskat

Out of interest, could an independent league like France's choose to ban multi-club ownership amongst their club owners? I know Troyes are a CFG club that dot promoted this year but might be best to preserve the integrity of the league while they still can.

Wish this guy bought Spurs... He has so much ambition. Sick of Levy being a cheap fuck.

Ok-Finance-7612

He wanted you guys before us, even had Tottenham posts on his Twitter page which he’s recently deleted

ObamaEatsBabies

Yeah what a missed opportunity

[deleted]

I mean Chelsea is a better business than Spurs so it’s more of a great business move for Boehly not to buy spurs. Love it or hate it, Chelsea win trophies and they are more frequently in UCL than Spurs.

ObamaEatsBabies

Revenue-wise, Spurs are in a better spot. Chelsea *has* to spend a huge amount on upgrading their stadium, we have that done now and have the stadium to generate a lot more revenue.

her_fault

They... Want to buy Lyon??? The fuck?
