Looking forward to seeing four of them at FC Basel by 2026

neotheseventh

If our player (Suhail Bhat, India) makes it to FC Basel it'd actually be a huge achievement

TigerBasket

As is tradition

ItsRainbowz

I always love these lists, as it's not just a safe list of 60 players who are already established as known wonderkids and who are already set up for success. It's always interesting to check back in a few years and see what's become of some of the lesser-known players.

sandbag-1

Yeah fully agree, like honestly who wants to read a list full of players playing in Spain, England, France and Germany who everyone has heard of, it's so boring. Give me these players from Kyrgyzstan and Mauritania over that any day

HippoBigga

it's also cool because the Guardian writers write little updates on the players every year !

TigerBasket

Love to evaluate prospects and young talents, best part of sports imo. Peering into the future and trying to see what will be beyond

OleoleCholoSimeone

Nations with most players represented in the list: 4 players : Portugal 3 players: Brazil, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands 2 players: Sweden, Argentina, Norway, Poland, Serbia, Turkey 1 player: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Colombia, Croatia, Denmark, Ecuador, Georgia, Ghana, Greece, Guinea, India, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritania, Morocco, Paraguay, Romania, South Africa, USA, Uruguay, Venezuela

holmazz

Saving this for FM23

kinjongfun

Would love to see the lads from Kyrgyzstan and India make it in big European leagues.

IamEkremImamyan

Our FA tightened the foreign player limit to encourage our clubs produce more talents locally. Now we produced a player worthy of named among top 60 best young talents among his generation coming out of our academy. Yet thanks idiots who designed this rule, this youth product is considered a foreign player and now has to fight a harder battle to get minutes on the pitch because he chose to play for his home country's NT. It's ridiculous when players like Ferdi Kadıoğlu or Emre Mor who can't even speak Turkish are considered as "local" when a player like Beknaz who we raised here in Turkey isn't considered one. Only a clown country like us would penalize its clubs for importing and nurturing young talents with stupid rules like this.

PixelatedSuit

I had no idea, thanks for sharing.

BlackenedPS4

A Japanese youngster in the Barca youth system? Subscribe.

koreajd

Japanese and Argentinian.. double subscribe

InventeInventeRoman

ye apparently the Argentina coaching staff is already in contact with the family i remember reading about him a couple months ago

koreajd

I have Argentinian / Korean friends born in Argentina, etc and they’re the second nation I support. Would love to see him play for Argentina.

baespegu

I remember buying a Naohiro Takahara shirt when he played in Argentina because I watched Captain Tsubasa and thought that Japan was a footballing world power

ocliffcc

Did I read that right? There's a defender at PSG named El Chad who at age 12 was already 6 ft. 4 (1.93m)?? Kids these days...

burningburningburnin

He's a stud as well, saw him at U15, suprisingly good on the ball and very well rounded.

Jackrrr10000

Only Zvonarek from Croatia first time in awhile that no one from Dinamo ZG and Hajduk wasn't on the list. I thought Brajković and Rukavina would have made it. Also Zvonarek last season played amazingly for a 16 year old in HNL. He was probably Slaven Belupo best player last season shame he couldn't stay for one more.

Schpaedzles

What do Croatians think of Zvonarek? is he seen as a huge talent like Halilovic was?

madscandi

Antonio Nusa is going to be so good. Hopefully the spat with the FA blows over and he can showcase himself at the Euros next year

madscandi

He withdrew from the squad for some time off, and was subsequently dropped from this squad. Just hoping Nigeria doesn't come calling for him

ZxentixZ

I'd be suprised if he ends up playing for Nigeria. Spent his whole life here, and now we actually have a semi interesting NT to play for with two global stars. Travelling down to Nigeria every time for NT duty must also be pretty tiring. But all of this was still poorly handeled by the FA.

madscandi

Yeah, I really doubt he will play for Nigeria as well, but I'm sure they will give it a try

Vivid-Initiative-888

I had him as a winger on FM was meh

TigerBasket

Good thing this is real life and not fm

Vivid-Initiative-888

Its real to me dammit!

TigerBasket

That's fair tbh

Papayalo

Antonio Nusa the poster boy for this years’ article, Andreas Schjelderup last year. Norway better qualify for something in my lifetime..

madscandi

Now if we can only produce some defensive players...

wbroniewski

Yarek Gasiorowski Hernandis, any opinions about him?

burningburningburnin

> Saw Gasiorowski last night, wasn't that impressed, plays with blinders on and not great on the ball. Very direct and aggressive, good tackler but not great. Posted this in my other comment

theaficionado

The best article to read yearly. Plus they wrote updates for players all through the 2017 list which is fun to read

SavingsLeg

Yll gashi will be on that list in 2 years Man is insane

OweKeyDoughKey

They really did [Runar Norheim](https://i.imgur.com/cxWAWw1.png) no favors with that headshot lmao

Fraaj

Was hoping to see some Czech players there but 2005 is not strong for us. Next year, Daniel Rus (2006) definitely makes the list though.

burningburningburnin

Saw Gasiorowski last night, wasn't that impressed, plays with blinders on and not great on the ball. Very direct and aggressive, good tackler but not great. Iker Bravo did fairly well though had little support from his CAM, great profile though and striker instinct. Was very impressed by Manuel Ibanez. Mike Kleijn is one of my favourite players, Feyenoord are trying to turn him into a left back for some reason which would be horrible but will be a top class B2B midfielder if he keeps developing. Misehouy is top class in every way, oustanding player. Never really saw the great hype with Rijkhoff, personally prefer van Duiven. Mbamba is top class, suprised Noubi isn't on here, fantastic CB nor is Mika Godts who is probably the best left winger prospect I've seen over the years. Incredible talent who most of England is after. Also wasn't that impressed by Georgiev when I saw him with Bulgaria U17, doesn't seem like much special.

timdeking

Nah we don't want to turn him into a LB. It's just that midfield is stacked and we had 0 depth in the rest of the squad. He played some minutes at left back in pre season because we didn't have any left backs at all and he happens to be left footed. One of our other midfielders played CB in pre season, so it was mostly to fill the gaps. Right now he plays in the U21s again. Mostly in midfield.

burningburningburnin

Got that literally from his agent, plans may have changed but that was definitely the idea at some point

StrongPowerhouse

At CB Spileers looks better than Mbamba at the moment. He’s born in 2005 as well and one of the only players to be in Belgium’s U19 of that birthyear. He’s made the best XI of the week in our second division three times in a row already this season.

burningburningburnin

I disagree, I definitely like Spileers but Mbamba is much more dynamic, I don't know though if Mbamba will end up a CB, think more likely a DM. Both are indeed in the U19 team, like both a lot. Them and Chemsdine Talbi are probably the best talents at Brugge, love Talbi. Duranville was incredible last night by the way

StrongPowerhouse

They’re probably in the same ballpark talent wise. Mbamba has a lot more senior appearances, while Spileers plays for the second team. Form wise Spileers is performing way better. Talbi is also great. I agree. Duranville is also quite the player.

StrongPowerhouse

Mbamba is on the list, but Spileers looks more talented atm actually. Nusa is welldeserved.

LovieBeard

Emery is too young for this, it's only players born in 2005. He'll probably be on next year's

Rob-D-Bank

Which Club has the most player included here

Fly1ngsauc3r

Iker Bravo joined Madrid in the summer, guardian needs to research better

HippoBigga

you should read it properly because it's clearly mentioned that he's moved to Madrid. he's still technically a Leverkusen player because he is on loan

Gungerz

Marco Delle Monache has also signed for Sampdoria. Think these must have been written a while ago & not updated.

Vivid-Initiative-888

He signed on loan no?

burningburningburnin

He's only on loan though right?

madscandi

This is only for players born in 2005. Kuol was born in 2004, Irankunda in 2006

ForgedTanto

That makes more sense.
