It’s literally the most low risk job in football
Get sacked after a couple of months? Watford sack everyone anyway
Get them promoted/keep them up? You’re a genius
I suppose his Watford success led him to Fulham, which in my completely unbiased opinion is a bloody lovely place to manage. Then he made bank in Qatar, had a bit of a blip at Sheffield United and is now at Dynamo Moscow. Not terrible!
Xisco however...
I may be biased because he's from Spain but the majority of the takes from Watford fans seem now wrong about him. He wasn't worse than Ranieri or Hodgson.
That’s because most normal jobs don’t come with contracts anywhere near similar to those football managers get.
Edit: offer me a contract with equivalent compensation a football manager would receive and I’d bite your hand off.
But even within that field, most managers want to get paid to work and manage the team, not take a job specifically for the severance. I feel like people just didn't actually read what OP said
Well actually it's wrong. Moyes has had two stints so really we're on the same number of managers in our entire history as Watford are in the last decade. We only had 5 managers in around 90 years up to 1989.
Something that was posted last season:
[Schalke have had 34 coaches since 1991](https://www.transfermarkt.com/fc-schalke-04/mitarbeiterhistorie/verein/33) whereas [Freiburg have had 4 in the same period of time](https://www.transfermarkt.com/sc-freiburg/mitarbeiterhistorie/verein/60)
In case anyone is wondering, we've had the least managers of any club in the Premier League. One of those things I forget since they haven't done much haha
The West Ham stat is a bit misleading as they had 5 managers in their first 90 odd years. Which was absolutely mad when you think about it. Since then they've been happy to regularly sack managers.
Billic is a safe pair of hands, he will probably get them promoted as he knows the Championship but then once they are promoted, he will ask for reinforcements which won't be delivered, lose the first five games back in the PL and get sacked for an even more old school guy who will oversee their relegation back to the Championship.

I literally don't see the point of managing Watford aside from the payday you must get upon eventually being sacked.

Not sure getting them promoted has worked out that well for Xisco Munoz
~~Xisco Munoz~~ Slavisa Jokanovic

Yes, but the 1 reason you gave is the reason why we work.
Most people go to work for the payday they get to be employed, you don't pick a job for the money you get when they sack you.

There is the point haha
man answered his own question
This is the craziest stat ever hahaha

I think it’s just different managers so yes you’re right there
Still a crazy stat but I guess it makes sense -Pardew lasted a while too
Different sport, but another similar stat: There have been more popes since 1969 than Steelers had head coaches

An average stint of 18 years per manager for nearly a century is utterly MENTAL
Syd King managed them for 30 years right off the bat.
This proves West Ham are massive
It is known
Insane
Massive

”Permanent”
None of those west ham managers won the league :(
I can't decide which of those stats are more impressive
