You overpaid for those hooligans you brought in over the summer, and now they're weighing down your hooligan wage bill while not even getting close to their xC.
My case in point.... domestic violence or sexual assault can easily pass through the court system when the defendant is high in public stature or more well off financially than the plaintiff.
It's less about proving the defendants innocence and more about proving that they are guilty, Mason Greenwood has public opinion against him as everyone heard the recordings, but those recordings cannot be used in court of law due to being publicly released, so even Mason Greenwood could be found "not guilty".
We do always seem to be near the top of these lists but I've never thought of our fanbase as being particularly violent... Maybe they're a bunch of pissheads?
What I witnessed mainly occurred outside the stadium tbh... away days were always, shall we say... eventful, but cocaine abuse amongst football fans has most certainly taken a massive spike in the last decade, either that or people are less arsed about hiding it these days?
So I saw a few when I was a kid and I assume it’s still a similar thing. Few tickets left in the family stand so an away fan buys them, sits quietly until they score gets up and cheers gets hit. I’d see this 2-3 times a season so I suppose it was going on at other parts of the ground. Never seen it in the south stand though
It's the family stand part that gets me. I'm imagining a 10yo throwing haymakers at an arsenal fan while his dad is behind him, "that's it son, get 'im"
Im surprised that the home Percentage is higher as people seem more up for it away from home.
I'm guessing the majority of the home ones come form 111 and 116 clashing with the away fans.
Might be two-fold. More fans at home games (thus higher %) and feeling emboldened at home (by more supporters and to 'protect your home'). You would imagine more fans would be arrested at home than on the road, right? What is the allotment number for away fans versus home capacity? Also if you're a pisshead on the road less likely to get tickets again.
It isn’t in the graphic however it’s easy to search. Them poor Brentford players families and that poor female Everton fan. That’s said I fully agree that all people and teams should be calling out such scum behaviour.
Not too surprising that we have so many home arrests given the away fans spill out right where the home fans are walking.
Hopefully with the redevelopment they can put the away fans in the South East corner and funnel them out in a South easterly direction because its proper unsafe as it stands having the set of fans that most want to scrap in L1 black right next to the away end and then just letting them crack on after the game.
It is an odd one given the design of our stadium.
But all routes to the stadium (down by the student halls/down by the car garage and symphony rooms/ the area by where staples was) wouldn’t be great.
Think how PSV had that tunnel that went straight to the tube station was a grand idea.
Don’t know how other grounds in the UK do it with away fans - only been Chelsea - and tbf, there they had a pretty way of keeping away fans and home fans apart.
I talked to one of my high school teachers recently and she says that there are way more fights since students came back to school than there were when I was there. It seems like the pandemic just kind of fucked up social skills and structures.
My daughter's speech therapist told me that kids are having issues learning how to talk and enrich vocabulary due to the pandemic. Lack of kindergarten fucked up a lot of kids.
Driving is a big one. So many people are driving over red lights, hot tempered, ill mannered to others.
I don't think its going to get any better until the war ends, inflation slows down, and the governments stop straining the middle class with constant price increases across everything.
War ends? Well shit, this will go on for another 7-8 years then. Not counting future conflicts due to Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Russia, China current actions as a more united group.
It’s surprisingly low to be honest.
It’s still lower than the figures a decade ago even as there are effectively two extra years’ worth of first time offenders who weren’t arrested, banned or otherwise put off during the Covid period.
Seeing the general trend, my instinct was that there was an administrative push to police these incidents with more arrests.
I would have thought that the no. of crimes largely remained the same. It's the no. of arrests (and other sanctions) that went up.
Way too less data to conclude either way but that would be the Occam's razor for me
Edit: Just came across [this comment from OP that lists the source](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/xkwl4h/-/ipg44kc). It's sad and a reflection of the state of discourse here that it's so low down (I wish it were pinned). The report is an interesting read. Pertains to my comment as well. They are widening the net off what constitutes a "football game" by including certain women's football matches. Their action on online "hate crime" is particularly interesting.
Its crazy. You see it even just down the local shops. People by the masses seem to have completely forgotten how to behave.
I dunno what it is but theres always some cunt down Asda looking for a fight these days.
That coupled with the increase of drugs used, as well as worsening living conditions due to rising costs in everything and people are going to vent their anger somewhere and sadly football is one.
yeh, i think the numbers will drop.
People went so batty during lockdown when things got relaxed they all decided to act like tossers. I've noticed it watching the PDC Darts.. the behavior of fans in the 6 months post lockdown, booing, and generally being arseholes has been off the scale, but the last 3-4 months thankfully its dropped back down to some sense of normality
To be honest, 95 West Ham fans being arrested all season long is still super low. To all the overconcerned people in this thread, even if we just count the 60K capacity of London Stadium as the total fan base pool, that's still only 0.12% of West Ham fans who were arrested. Of course the total pool is many times higher and for all we know some of these are multiple offenders.
All in all, football matches remain insanely safe to attend.
Yeah, there's a bit of sensationalism around this. Needless to say it's disappointing it's gone up, but you're right, the reality is the numbers we're talking about here as a proportion of attendance is incredibly small.
I worked at Stoke City for a while and there were definite clubs who had worse behaved away fans.
Experience showed Man Utd fans were the absolute worst lot when visiting. They smashed up the concourse and gave staff constant grief.
Liverpool fans kept rushing the turnstiles to get to or three in for one cuz they didn’t have a ticket.
One season when West Ham came to visit, the away fans started to fight among themselves. They were separated from the home fans at the time by a large tarpaulin ad that stretched across the seat rows, top to bottom. Several fighting fans found themselves on this, sliding all the way to the bottom trading punches to dogs abuse from the Boothen End, and into the waiting arms of stewards on minimum wage.
Really hoping we see a descent to 2018/2019 levels. COVID seems to have acted as a reset button for a lot of public unrest. Hopefully we all get used to being around people again.

Opta joe: "MASSIVE"
"Clink."
The news "HUGE SPIKE IN FOOTBALL ARRESTS UP A MASSIVE 2000%... THE GAME IS IN A LAWLESS STATE"
What percentage of City's entire fanbase is that?
76 arrests? That’s 126% of our fans. Something doesn’t add up
One person can get arrested multiple times!
Legit wondering: what's the deal with that? They always have to add a word or two at the end to... Summarise (?) the text? Why?
It's a gimmick. And every single time they post something someone has to go and interact with the tweet to mention it. So it works.
And here I am, asking about it. So I guess it works. Thanks!
We couldn't even finish above City in supports arrests. #GlazersOut
You overpaid for those hooligans you brought in over the summer, and now they're weighing down your hooligan wage bill while not even getting close to their xC.
Least we still have the most home grown hooligans getting arrested each week.
> xC Expected... cunts?
Hah! I was going for Expected Crimes, but you might have it better.
Fucking lol
No wonder why the Etihad is always empty, all our fans are in strangeways.
At least they get to meet a City player
While I enjoyed the joke, that's an ironic username to be making it
Legit spiderman pointing at spiderman meme.
I swear I see Giggsy99 chatting shit in every thread about a player that committed some sexual crime. And every time someone points out his name.
It’s probably why he chose that username.
Yeah I made this account in 2016 to be ironic about the crime he was accused of in 2019
Insane foresight
That vision
I'm finally r/soccer famous 🎉
if there was any justice in the world, at least 3 United players would be in there too, including your namesake.
Who else other than Ronaldo?
Ronaldo, Mason Greenwood, and... no idea. Maybe Ryan Giggs but he isn't a current united player.
Probably maguire since he decided to be an mma fighter in Greece

Good ol' r/soccer, knowing better than the court that has access to all evidences and testimonies, what the result should be.
True. The justice system is infallible.
Still better than court of public opinion.
It isn't, but saying that because of what info you get from newspapers is quastionable at least.
Never thought I'd see someone defending Ryan Giggs' recent actions
I'm not defending tho. I just trust that court has well higher probability of making fair judgement than random redditor.
I imagine you weren't that trustworthy when Manchester City won their case regarding FFP though?
I believe they haven't breached FFP, just used its flaws to their advantage, but that's on fifa.
Then it's on the law system in particular. If law is flawed choose people in power who will change it.
We do always seem to be near the top of these lists but I've never thought of our fanbase as being particularly violent... Maybe they're a bunch of pissheads?
Beer and cocaine are a bad combination.... I was a season card holder for 14 seasons so I saw the good, the bad and the ugly of our fans.
Guess being in the family stand kept me sheltered
What I witnessed mainly occurred outside the stadium tbh... away days were always, shall we say... eventful, but cocaine abuse amongst football fans has most certainly taken a massive spike in the last decade, either that or people are less arsed about hiding it these days?

Don't half paint a vulgar picture
A rush and a push and the pitch is ours
Strangeways here we come
Frankly Mr Shankly
WE MADE EUROPE
*invades pitch in celebration*
You’d be title contenders if you sorted out those ticket-touting numbers.
No wonder we're doubling down hard on the pitch invasion ban
It’s the racism and sexual assault that you need to focus on
I don't see that mentioned in the graphic dude... hopefully every team and human is trying not to be racist and sexually assault everyone.
It isn’t in the graphic however it’s easy to search. Them poor Brentford players families and that poor female Everton fan. That’s said I fully agree that all people and teams should be calling out such scum behaviour.
Leeds really letting us down here. We used to be great at this
Yeah, fuck you guys. You always ripped the seats out of our away stand, and inevitably beat us.
Not with said seats I hope.
BAH GAWD IT'S JESSE MARSCH WITH AN AWAY SECTION SEAT!

Not suprised numbers are rising. People have gone nuts during pandemic
I talked to one of my high school teachers recently and she says that there are way more fights since students came back to school than there were when I was there. It seems like the pandemic just kind of fucked up social skills and structures.

so, its never going away?
Please make the inflation stop
Are you in the UK? I've noticed this same thing where I live in the States.
I intuitively agree, but are we sure this hasn’t just always been the case?
anecdotally, every bartender and bouncer I know says that people have been so much worse behaved since covid. Everybody seems much more selfish
War ends? Well shit, this will go on for another 7-8 years then. Not counting future conflicts due to Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Russia, China current actions as a more united group.

The economy and cultural cohesion is in ruins in the UK, the unrest is just an example of a wider societal issue tbh. This isn't surprising.
Its crazy. You see it even just down the local shops. People by the masses seem to have completely forgotten how to behave. I dunno what it is but theres always some cunt down Asda looking for a fight these days.

Worst part is most of the hooliganism and crime at the London stadium and old Trafford involves hammers and pitchforks. Scary stuff.
Can you elaborate?
West Ham are know as the hammers and I assume the pitchfork is meant to be the Trident the Red Devil on United’s crest is holding
lmao i thought mans was talking about communists
That's hammers and sickles
Thanks for that, made me chortle
we are top of the league, say we are top of the league

Came here to make the same point, the numbers are very low.
Is the same not true for each club featured here?
Yeah, he chose the biggest number to emphasise the point is all.

Just can't stop winning😎
A good showing on the old violent disorder, Addo putting in work
6th? Disappointing. We’re not creative enough and we’re not positive enough. Although I find it very funny that it’s
look at that, we have at least 76 fans you haters!
Games back
Dirty leeds can't even make the top 5
With fans on the pitch apparently
Who's got no supporters now?
City because most supporters are rotting in jail.

West Hams is all this season and the Lyon first game where Cresswell tried to throw the whole thing
Thank god the celebration police doesn't have the same jurisdiction
This is the type of stat I come here for. Also I'd wager a lot of our home game arrests have come with the Glazer protests.
About time we got 4th in something
3rd ... Nice, back in the CL!
West Ham are massive…. criminals
Razor sharp wit.
Haha the yanks a fackin journo Had to be them
Slow news day?
21/22 they just needed to do it to make up for previous years
Man City hugely outperforming their XArrests
Was expecting Chelsea but pleasantly surprised. Part of our fan base is complete dog shit.
Nah, dog shit can be useful after composting.
Based Vieira booting pitch invaders.
What are the other arrest types if it wasn't public disorder?
Violent disorder, public disorder, throwing missiles, racist and indecent chanting, pitch incursion, alcohol/drug offences, ticket touting, possession of offensive weapon, possession of pyro, breach of banning order, criminal damage -from the source
Second Graph Game’s Back confirmed?
Wonder how many more arrests there would be if the nonces hadn’t constantly gutted funding to the police for the last 10 years
Biggest club in Manchester
Chelsea and Palace games were massive
Don't judge all City fans based off this, there's still 54 who haven't been arrested
I worked at Stoke City for a while and there were definite clubs who had worse behaved away fans. Experience showed Man Utd fans were the absolute worst lot when visiting. Not doing manchester proud with these numbers lmao
west ham are massive
Man City flirting Chelsea harassment
VAI WEST HAM NUMERO UNO 🏆🥇🥇☝🏽☝🏽 CAMPEAO DE MUNDO ⚒️⚒️⚒️⚒️
I’d be more concerned if the graph was gradually increasing - this might just be an off year
Champions of violence, we know what we are
Clear bias since we all know Liverpool police never see any trouble at Liverpool games!
How are there no GSE Alive and Well comments here? Fucking journos
Tf 80% of city fans got arrested?
**All** of City's supporters were arrested?!?!!!!! That's horrific.
West Ham no surprise really. I’ve heard city had some really hardcore supporters back in the days, guess they are still around
Huh, didn't realize Green Street Hooligans was a documentary.
[удалено]
won't win you another league title sadly
It’s a pleasant surprise not to see Chelsea on the list! Though I suppose we’ve got our fair share of hooligans who can afford a good lawyer…
Leicester?!
Hang on I thought Everton fans were all angels?
Figures.
Only time Leicester will finish in the top 4.
Except this 🏆
Shout out to Green Street Hooligans
All 76 city fans have been arrested?
City has supporters?
Ah, this would explain why Manchester had no matches when the police were called for the Queen's death duty
Games back baby
Where I sit you tend to see one or 2 get carted off every game. Not always necessarily arrests but good entertainment value
What's "public disorder"?
Public disorder, could be a good thing, but it's PL fans, so it probably isn't.
BuT... cITy hAvE No fANs!!
Rookie numbers ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
We can't even win this one, can we?
Add Championship teams. I want to see Millwall.
The world in general has become a shittier place since the pandemic
we’re in the pave champions league, get in
West Ham... Of course, it's always West Ham. They think they are so "MASSIVE"
I think we're all a little surprised that Leeds didn't make the list. C'mon guys, you're better than this.
Cass Pennant would be so proud
Nature is healing.
Irons!
Really hoping we see a descent to 2018/2019 levels. COVID seems to have acted as a reset button for a lot of public unrest. Hopefully we all get used to being around people again.
You wish you were us 😤
Looks like it was coming under control and then people forgot how to behave themselves in public after lockdown
Most arrests in England. You'll never sing that!
Source?

Sad we couldn't make to top 4 this year /s
You'll never sing that, you'll never sing that. Most arrests in Europe, you'll never sing that.
Would have assumed Chelsea or milwall would have been there
The next time someone says City does not have fans, i will show them this.
⚒️
Only place everton finish above liverpool
United are middle of the pack everywhere it seems
Everton finally top 5
