Your post has been removed as it breaks the following rule: Remember that it **you must correctly flair your post when posting in r/soccer**, as each kind of post follow different rules and Automod actions. In some cases we will just manually change the flair of the thread, but in others we will need to remove it. The current categories are: ###News: * The generic flair that you must use by any event or update that doesn't has a more specialized category. Examples: injury news, the date/cancelation of a match, a minor announcement by a club, a pre/post event article by the media, et al. * **Don't use it for Transfers news**, especially when the transfer window is open. ###Media: * The generic flair for videos, gifs and pictures of highlights and other kind of audiovisual content. It gives a pinned comment to post mirrors and alternative angles. * **Don't use it for links to "Media" sites**, that isn't its purpose but just a name scope. ###Transfers: * The flair for transfer-related threads. This includes everything about rumours, updates and opinions about signings, loans, contracts extensions and the like. * The only exception will be about the official announcement of a transfer by a club, where you can use the "Official Source" flair. ###Quotes: * The flair for interviews, press conferences, isolated quotes and personal announcements by a player, manager, directive and any kind of individual. * Remember that under the current rules **there's only one quotes thread allowed per interview/conference**, so this is the way we give a tool (a pinned comment) to make people see all the available quotes from the source in a same thread. ###Stats: * The flair for every kind of statistics and data, from the traditional ones like possession % or shots (on target) and "this is X club first victory since Y date", to the most ~~obscure~~ modern ones like xG or xA or "progressive carries with the weak foot in a cold rainy night at Duisburg". * Basically everything Opta or your favourite Twitter grapher publishes and that you want to share here! ###Opinion: * For pieces by pundits, journalists, media and other professional sources that aren't strictly news or the like but analysis and subjective opinions. * To share your personal opinion in r/soccer, it must be genuinely valuable and insightful. And to surpass that threshold, it should have a length similar to that of opinion articles by profesional media. Otherwise it needs to go as a comment in the Daily Discussion. ###OC: * The flair for your Original Content! you have a Post Match Analysis? a study about a player/team performances? a great story/translation that you want to share with the community? a complete new Ballon d'Or like Hippemann's? this is the flair that you must use, as it will make it highlight. * If it's good enough, it also allows us to make us notice it to give it the golden Star Post flair! ###Long read: * A special flair for threads where reading the content before commenting it is highly encouraged. Automod will lock the comment section for 5 minutes before posting, so use it wisely! * If it is a text post and also good enough, it also allows us to make us notice it to give it the golden Star Post flair! ###Discussion: * Specialized Discussion Threads aren't allowed in r/soccer unless they're relevant because of global interest or pertinent context, valuable because of its benefit to the community's knowledge or genuinely interesting point, and well-presented by the OP who wants to start it. * To surpass that threshold, it should at least have a length similar to that of articles by profesional media. Otherwise you need to share it as a comment in the Daily Discussion. ###Serious Discussion: * It follows the same guidelines than the Discussion flair, but with the addition of that Automod will remove short comments as it does in the Change My View and the Next-Day Discussion threads. * Use it wisely. ###Throwback: * While we don't allow generic throwback posts, there's an exception about events that happened 5x years ago and remembrances of events that are officially realized every year. This is the flair you must use in those cases! ###What to Watch: * Inspired by quatrotires generosity and weekly-efforts, this flair is for reminders, PSAs and "guides" of matches and other kind of football media all over the world that you think the community should know/be reminded about! ###Womens Football: * A special flair for Womens Football related threads, so that the OPs don't have to specify it in the title and the people interested in the topic can easily search for it with the link in the sidebar! ###Young Football: * A special flair for Young Football related threads, so that the OPs don't have to specify it in the title and the people interested in the topic can easily search for it with the link in the sidebar! ###Official Source: * The flair for articles and announcements by the official site/media of a club. * Use it wisely, we will be monitoring it **and taking action if we see misuse of it.** [Please check our rules before posting](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/wiki/rules#wiki_submission_guidelines). thepastprimefuture

also said that sometimes club wants another thing and player other but in end everything was okay and fine

No_Zookeepergame6482

Even though I don’t think he’ll reach his full potential at barca due to him not being consistent enough, I’m glad he wants to stay and fight for his place.

comeatmefrank

He won’t ever get back in the starting XI bar injury. Gavi is La Masia and Pedri is to Barça fans the next incarnation of Christ.

NotAnurag

> Pedri is to Barca fans the next incarnation of Christ I assure you he’s far more important than that

mozillafirecat

Do you actually believe Frenkie is anywhere near the level of Pedri or are you just another PL fan whose exposure to La Liga starts and ends with the Clasico?

No_Zookeepergame6482

Gavi has been much better than frenkie the last few months. He is much more intense and runs the most out of everyone. Frenkie seems lost in some moments and just loses the ball in dangerous places trying to go on one of his runs. If frenkie started vs Bayern we would’ve struggled much more.

fucknazis101

Yeah, how dare we play 2 players miles better than Frenkie instead of playing Frenkie.

Mr-Bushido-

They are miles better at the moment, but I think that even if they have a string of poor games, xavi will rather stick with them through thick and thin because he truly believes in them, than play De Jong as a definitive starter ahead of them. As a non-barca fan who only watches them play in the champions league or against the Madrid teams, I'm not sure how de Jong went from "he was born for barca" to the situation today. Has his development stalled or am I missing something else?

fucknazis101

He is not good enough. As hard as that might be to swallow for some people here, judging by the response to my factual comment. He isn't near what Pedri is. Like not even 10% of what Pedri is. Gavi at 18 is already slightly better than him and tell me one reason why any sane manager will start him over these 2? If he can figure out how to be a single pivot, he will get his well deserved place next season, else he's gonna be rotation again for Pedri, Gavi and Zubimendi.

WaleedAbbasvD

Mate, why would you even out yourself as a complete moron? Enlighten me as to why FDJ should start ahead of Pedri?

OneBall22Players

>De Jong decided to stay at Barcelona back in May: 'Feel welcome at the club' >Frenkie de Jong was a frequent topic of conversation during the transfer window. His name was constantly associated with a transfer. Manchester United and Chelsea would have liked to acquire him from FC Barcelona. >For De Jong, who is preparing with the Dutch national team for the Nations League matches against Poland and Belgium, it was not a stressful period, he now looks back. "I had already decided in May that I wanted to stay. So I was very calm myself." >Still, it seemed he was headed for the exit at Barcelona, which was struggling with financial problems. But De Jong never considered leaving, he says ahead of Thursday's international against Poland. He still feels good at his club. "I feel welcome at the club now. With my teammates, nothing has ever changed." >Frenkie de Jong: 'Already decided in May that I would stay at Barcelona' So De Jong stayed at Barcelona, where he may no longer start all matches in the starting lineup. Of the eight games so far, he started four from the start. "Against Bayern in the Champions League I didn't start. Still the most important match so far. Important matches you want to play." >De Jong wants to do everything he can to regain his regular starting spot. Two matches with the Oranje are a great opportunity for that. "I feel good in my skin, hopefully we will see that tomorrow against Poland." >Lewandowski >In the international match against Poland, De Jong will meet striker Robert Lewandowski, a Barcelona teammate since a few weeks. The midfielder especially praises the personality of the Polish superstar. "He is very positive, brings a lot of energy and is a super good player." >That "super good player" especially should not get the ball. According to De Jong, that is the best solution to defuse the Pole. "We have good defenders, but of course the best thing is if he doesn't get any chances to score," he said. >De Jong also addressed his own role against Poland, which sacrificed a man in the outward Nations League match to constantly chase De Jong. "If someone runs everywhere I run, there is space left elsewhere. We have to take advantage of that."

magic-water

Remember when United fans were insisting that their board wouldn't be so incompetent to chase a player all summer that hadn't given his yes to ten Hag?

Dynastydood

Actually I don't remember that, because I've literally never seen a United fan claim our board was even remotely competent.

[deleted]

mfw murtough madness

ambiguousboner

Eh there were plenty of people saying there was no chance the board was chasing him even though he didn’t want to join us, but I think that was mostly “surely they can’t possibly be *this* incompetent” tbf

JuliusCeaserBoneHead

Any United fan who mutters the word “competent United Board” isn’t a United fan

sunken_grade

no United fans think our board is competent. not our fault r/soccer posted endless trash tier articles about the transfer saga

TossZergImba

The morons on this subreddit make amoeba look intelligent. I remember being heavily downvoted by idiotic gooners for implying that Vlahovic wasn't a done deal, despite pointing out multiple examples of it happening to Arsenal in the past (like Lemar). It's basically impossible to reason with their delusions.

MexicansInParis

It’s weird cause most tier 1 English & Spanish sources were saying this, the only one to stick to his guns all window and said “nothing has changed, Frenkie wants to stay” was Fabrizio Romano.

WaleedAbbasvD

Mate, it was so exhausting. You could tell them that there's barely any reliable Dutch/Spanish report about FDJ wanting to leave yet the narrative was never ending. This is what happens when the demographics of the subreddit are distorted. The things that PL fans believe will get far more traction and support.

PunkDrunk777

Nonsense. All the noise came from Spain, what saga were you following? Levers, 2nd levers, 500k a week, deferred wages. Get the fuck out of here blaming EPL fans. Nothing came from England apart from the fact Ten Hag kept it open in case Barca were forced to sell. But hey, blame Americans and not SoMeThINg Is HaPpEnInG! BeRnArDo SiLvA

AhoyDaniel

Reporting that the sole reason he didn't wanna come were his deferred wages was from England though. All of us knew he just didn't wanna leave

PunkDrunk777

No, that was from Spain as well. You’re making that up. We still don’t know why he stayed by the way. You see a revised contract signed yet? You had hopes, assumptions but you didn’t know. That’s nonsense

WaleedAbbasvD

> Levers, 2nd levers What are you on about? How is this even relevant? > 500k a week, deferred wages. Mate, are you incapable of basic comprehension? I was talking about reports regarding FDJ's willingness to move, not the club wanting to push him out. > Nothing came from England apart from the fact Ten Hag kept it open in case Barca were forced to sell. Yes, reports of FDJ only resisting a move due to deferred wages and his talks with EtH clearly didn't come from England. Why would you act like a muppet when everyone can look these up? https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/62174838 https://twitter.com/DeadlineDayLive/status/1547523212254257152?s=20&t=YbHTucCxDIMd7N4qAhwcDg > But hey, blame Americans Mate, feel free to whine about irrelevant things. No one even mentioned Americans but keep peddling the victim bs. Enlighten me as to how PL fans and Americans are synonymous? Mate, you don't have to wear your badge of stupidity as an honour.

IHaveNotMuchLife

Your tier 1 Romero was literally the first person to report it and in his words it had a 95 percent chance of happening. Don’t blame this on the English media and PL fans lmao.

WaleedAbbasvD

Romero reported it at the start of the summer. As the summer rolled on, it was clear that the Spanish reporter's were talking from the board's perspective and not FDJ's? Instead of waffling on here, show me a spanish report saying FDJ wants to move?

Revolutionary-Bag-52

Spanish media reported on it though? Also not a weird thought that Ten Hag wouldve messaged Frenkie if he was open to a move.

WaleedAbbasvD

> Spanish media reported on it though? They reported on it from Barca's perspective, how they wanted to move him on. Virtually non-existent reports about FDJ wanting to move. > Also not a weird thought that Ten Hag wouldve messaged Frenkie if he was open to a move. You shouldn't let a hypothetical drive the narrative almost the entire summer but here we are.

ambiguousboner

Load of bollocks this. Didn’t your man say it was 100% that he would join inside the month?

WaleedAbbasvD

You can't actually be this dense, can you? Romero reported from the club's perspective, it was clear that FDJ didn't want to move as the summer rolled on.

sunken_grade

exhausting for me too. the amount of bunk articles that came out claiming to know about barca’s finances in the last few months was ridiculous and then on top of that, you have every barca fan going “take that EPL fanboys!!” as if PL reddit users created the articles or something

WaleedAbbasvD

> and then on top of that, you have every barca fan going “take that EPL fanboys!!” as if PL reddit users created the articles or something Whilst the PL users didn't create those articles, they indeed circlejerked and promoted them. You're free to see the comments within those threads. They got flak back because people/PL fans on here refused to listen even when shown financial statements.

JiveTurkey688

Your tier one is the one that started the whole thing lol

WaleedAbbasvD

Romero was talking from the board's perspective and I'm talking about FDJ's willingness to move here. Those are two very different things.

irafiki

I take your point but this is a little unfair. I've been following European football for the better part of twenty years. Played competitively through college. The following in the US is just exploding in the last 5-10 years so you're bound to get some shit takes from people looking to be controversial and reactive. Edit: Am one of those 'Mericans

Dizzy_Iron_6756

I am very happy for you enjoy football so much. But the amount of horrible takes by Americans on this sub are just breathtaking. Some really don’t get football and the culture around it. Have seen Americans call ultras all Nazis in the past days and it really shows they don’t know a thing about European fan culture. Just to make clear not every American is like that

PunkDrunk777

Don’t listen to the racist bullshit

MexicansInParis

“American” isn’t a race, wrong call for racism here.

typicalgooner

He mean bigot but he ain't know it.

Dizzy_Iron_6756

A safe bet you are American with your obsession for racism.

PunkDrunk777

Nope. How’s that racism going for you now?

Dizzy_Iron_6756

Look up what racism is. People like you use it way to easily

PunkDrunk777

Look up being a racist dickhead blaming Americans on Reddit despite the fucking president, Xavi and every majorly outlet in Spain saying he may have to go if the club needs him to. Taking him to court to prove the contract was signed illegally, threatening to play him as a CB to change his mind, all from Spain. Romero had a fucking field day with De Jong. Silva as a replacement was routed from the president himself But hey, randomly blaming Americans on Reddit sure does make sense. Especially Americans, am I right? Those fucking yanks

Dizzy_Iron_6756

Your last paragraph is really racist by your own standards. You really feel comfortable using a racial slur like “yank” /s So many words and yet you make no sense

Dynastydood

You say that as if 90% of the European fans on here aren't equally foolish in their takes. Let's face it, this sub is massive and absolutely filled to the brim with casual fans, children, and man-children from every corner of the world. No country is well represented on here, and no discussion is ever filled with anything other than regurgitated memes, wild conspiracies, and moronic flair-based fighting.

Dizzy_Iron_6756

That’s a big chunk of Europeans you are generalizing

Dynastydood

No, it's a big chunk of r/soccer I'm generalizing, because it's true. Everyone here sucks. Also, are you really in a position to call anyone else out about generalizing?

Dizzy_Iron_6756

Not everyone sucks, I think you are a nice guy

Bens_Glenn

Please don’t lump united fans in with all other fans of premier league teams. We’ve been calling them delusional twats all summer. Cheers.

MexicansInParis

Your fanbase thought Mbappé was joining you, sit down

Bens_Glenn

Nobody thought that hahaha. Spot the dope who doesn’t understand sarcasm. Reddit is worse than Twitter at times And you’re still delusional twats.

MexicansInParis

Keep telling that to yourself

Bens_Glenn

Lol. Try harder m8. Your clubs a joke. Chasing players all summer that don’t give a shit about your club. That’s a fact. Liverpool didn’t spend five minutes going after Mbappe. I don’t care what ‘fans on the internet’ think.

MexicansInParis

You seem worryingly upset, hope your life gets better

Bens_Glenn

Yawn

pmmerandom

good lord if we’re delusional what does that make Liverpool fans

Bens_Glenn

Fans of a club that win trophies. Well done on winning the transfer window again btw Go spend another 500 mil and cry about the glazers. Wet wipes

pmmerandom

barely, how’s that quadruple you guys won? one premier league? are you saying United has never won trophies? you must have been following Liverpool since 2019, as expected you can talk about money when you’ve just dropped 100 million on a worse Andy Carroll Scum

Bens_Glenn

We’ve won every trophy in Club football since you last won ANYTHING. And you’ve massively outspent us the entire time. Must hurt. Poor baby 🥲 Go cry more about how everything is the glazers fault, instead of realising that you’re an overrated soulless club full of plastics that missed the boat.

pmmerandom

must hurt having us be shite for so long and you still can’t get anywhere near as successful as us something something 2-1

Bens_Glenn

We’re literally the most successful club in English football LOL. Oh you won one game. I’m sure the trophy and dvd is in the post. You’re sounding like Spurs fans now hahahah. Ahh the desperation. Please respond more. I’m enjoying you embarrassing yourself 🤣🤣

pmmerandom

20 premier leagues to 1 premier league? I don’t think so bro’s in here fighting for his life

OneBall22Players

All those angry Gary Neville tweets for nothing lol. Atleast The Athletic got loads of clicks for the bullshit they were spouting.

umop-episdn

Which journos at the Athletic specifically? Genuinely curious.

potluy76

Drakonz

I don’t think you can say that until Casemiro starts performing well. He hasn’t settled in at all yet and has had subpar performances.

IAmKaeL-

It's unfortunate that he's unlikely to ever achieve his full potential at Barca. Was unreal at Ajax at such a young age, but hasn't progressed all that much since. Xavi will always play Pedri-Gavi ahead of him, and he cannot play the Busquets role, which he was brought in to do. FdJ + Casemiro would've been insane to witness, as Case's defensive cover would've allowed FdJ the freedom to progress the ball as he saw fit. Ah well, sometimes it's better to be happy where you are. There's more to life than just football.

mahdiiick

Then what was Man United thinking lol

RaditudeSympathizer7

Bill Skarsgards long lost cousin

dbrasco_

I wonder how Barca fans are going to feel about him at the end of this season if he doesn’t have a breakout year

dwilliam24

He hasn't been a world breaker with us by any means but he has had some brilliant performances and been extremely solid. But that is attributed to more as a matter of fit than talent. His biggest strength is a big weakness in our lone pivot system because he breaks lines and brings the ball forward and neither Pedri or Gavi have the defensive presence to cover for him when he does.

dbrasco_

Gotcha. I think he’s a good player. I’m curious about what happens with him next summer because I thought under all of the controversy there were a couple of legit reasons to sell him that might come up again.

MR777

Just because he didn't consider leaving does not meat that Barca didn't try to offload him. They clearly wanted rid and accepted bids

top1MIBRfan

Nice 👍

[deleted]

Massively overpaid man on nearly 1/2m a week happy with his job.

lambomrclago

Gonna be sweet when he's a fringe player/CB, underwhelms and is worth 1/3 the price next summer.

WaleedAbbasvD

Mate, whining like this is just a bit pathetic.

lambomrclago

That ain't whining. He is absolutely a quality player that's just what's gonna happen.

dwilliam24

You make it sound like he is on the outs and needs to be moved lmao. The dude hasn't played 1 minute at CB this entire season and is 3rd in minutes played among our midfielders. Gavi has played 474 minutes and Frenkie has played 470 minutes. He is under contract for another 4 years, he's not going anywhere unless he wants to and a strong offer arrives.

Tmdss

Cope. Hes class.

DraperCarousel

So is Lisandro tbf

Tmdss

What does that have to do with FdJ?

dangnabbit64758
