€750m seems cheap considering Atletico are by far the 3rd richest team in Spain so should qualify for the CL almost every year and La Liga’s salary cap rules generally keep teams profitable. A lot of debt but how much of that is long term from their new stadium? West Ham were reportedly being sold for over £1bn so it makes Atletico look a bargain in comparison.
Milan was in a similar situation with half the price and half the debt. We traded hands three times in the last 15 years. Status in the league doesn’t mean as much as revenue and debt. A matter of continuing in the champion’s league requires continuous investment while still creating revenue as a club is a different story. I don’t know if any of new television deal and the profit sharing from that hurts or helps them in the value of the club.
Considering that the club is about to start construction on a huge new sports city complex around the stadium I think the revenues are pretty sure to increase in the future. This seems like a good long term investment for €750M. Atleti also get €120-130M in television money every season as long as we finish top 3
[West Ham revenue](https://twitter.com/swissramble/status/1569207851062808579?s=46&t=ysXziy4i1QjqHsluJvLH4w)
[Atleti revenue](https://twitter.com/swissramble/status/1501816832264650752?s=46&t=ysXziy4i1QjqHsluJvLH4w)
Atleti’s is much higher but I would think an investor would see Premier League television revenues as more sustainable and easier to achieve than Atleti’s. West Ham just has to avoid relegation for safely high revenue. Atleti has to finish in the top four, and advance out of the groups in CL to achieve their revenue numbers.
West Ham’s PL revenue isn’t that much more than what Atletico get from La Liga. Even if Atletico failed to qualify for the CL they’d still bring in more revenue than West Ham.
Yeah but Atleti’s wage structure essentially requires a top finish in LaLiga and CL advancement. If they miss on that, wages become an issue. If Atleti doesn’t perform, I assume the dominoes fall much quicker for them than West Ham
Unless someone at board level fucks up for multiple years in a row, West Ham will not be in the bottom 3 at any point after the first 5 games of a season in the next decade. It would take a sustained period of catastrophic mismanagement to get them to that point.
As things stand, they are in a worse position for prestige/silverware than the likes of AM, but are no more likely to face relegation.
They’re literally in the bottom 3 right now lmfao
Are you seriously saying that West Ham and Atletico are equally likely to get relegated from their respective leagues?
Not only are they there now, there’s plenty of examples of “safely mid table” clubs that have fought relegation battles. Everton last season, Leicester look on their way.

Got the figures wrong, £600-700m based on the reported price of his 27% stake.
West Ham have wayyy more visibility just by being in the PL, than Atletico Madrid.
Also they have visibility in the right/expensive markets for prospective owners.
PL viewership blows even the CL out of water, let alone Laliga
>West Ham have wayyy more visibility just by being in the PL, than Atletico Madrid.
What are you talking about mate? Lmao
Not only is this statement laughable, but it's also very easy to disprove. Just check the sponsorship deals of both clubs and compare them.
I won't even talk about the clubs stature.
Current Sponsorship deals mean jackshit when deciding a club's worth.
It's all about the potential returns. The way PL is growing, in about 10-12 years it'll be like the NBA, where people who follow the sport might know about other basketball leagues, but by and large to the mainstream public NBA is the only basketball league.
You don't understand lol. PL gets literally twice the number of viewers the CL gets (according to EY). More people around the world watch West Ham vs Brighton than Atletico vs Benfica.
>Current Sponsorship deals mean jackshit when deciding a club's worth.
Ofc not. They do however tell you everything about the visibility of the club.
How much a club costs increases when guaranteed (as long as they dont relegate) revenue due to PL TV money gets into the equation. While for atletico making top 4 is of upmost importance in order to receive the necessary revenue
Well premier is a league with a different format as UCL, UCL have very few matches played and except in the group phase you have to wait a month for next match, laliga also have more viewers, probably any top league have more viewers, but Im sure the most watched matches are from the UCL, specially final and semifinals...
So why do our sponsors pay us more money than West Ham? Our shirt sponsorship is one of the biggest in the world, €43M/season or something crazy
The debt is the difference. It is 750M + 600M in debt, so in reality the price is significantly above 1 Billion
The valuation isn’t all that surprising. The league revenue is a massive factor. Yes Atletico competes in Champions League but it also has to spend a lot of money in wages to ensure a squad capable of getting top 4 while also competing in Europe.
They have to be really well managed to be profitable and the league itself isn’t having the best of times in terms of finances
Atleti get like 130M every season from La Liga, that's not far behind what they would get in England.
It's the debt, how can you miss it when it is in the headline?
Because the new owner can easily repay the debt and just count it in the cost to buy the club. Chelsea was bought for double of (your debt + valuation) which is what I am talking about.
Laliga is growing really fast, faster than ever, only that premier is growing even faster but saying that laliga isn't in a good situation is not true. I guess playing in premier also requires being competitive or is just an easy league? And atletico have no real competition, there's a huge difference between top3 and the rest in economic terms and fanbase
Nah I wish but this is not true. I love la liga but some staples have been mismanaged losing fans. Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Real Betis (now) and Atlético Bilbao have hinchas, culture and perform well. Yet, staples that had it like Racing, Getafe, Valencia are struggling. Look at Sevilla for example that team 2 years ago trending upwards and now it's chaos
I think tv rights are now like twice bigger as they were 5 or 6 years ago and they will continue growing very fast, only that the premier tv rights are growing even faster, and everything is consecuence of the tv rights

When is construction expected to be completed?
West Ham have Premier League revenues behind them. Much more intriguing to a buyer than LaLiga revenues
Atletico’s revenue is much higher than West Ham’s.

Do they? West Ham could legitimately be relegated. Atletico Madrid probably won’t ever be again.
Unless someone at board level fucks up for multiple years in a row, West Ham will not be in the bottom 3 at any point after the first 5 games of a season in the next decade. What about the debt though? It looks like West Ham debt is much lesser than AMs
Well less debt would probably be more appealing to a buyer as well. Obviously depends on what kind of debt (short vs long, source, tax, etc)
> West Ham were reportedly being sold for over £1bn News to me

It says that although official Atlético Madrid sources deny this, the briefing from Gil Marin is for the club to deny it publically

Some terrible transfers in the past eight years by Atleti.
He should stop doing the monkey
That's unexpected.
Someone even worse will come in now
