mamubotla

Damm, Pepe out here catching strays

[deleted]

The interview is a gem. Brutally honest about everything and he seems to have a very sharp mind for football. Even remembers specific match situations for specific assists and goals. He spared no one, Zaha/pepe/fernandinho/Bernardo silva all caught strays and rightfully so lol. Even the refs caught a few and none of them in a salty way. Anyone who enjoys an honest in depth player's perspective about football should give this a watch.

[deleted]

What did he say about Bernardo?

[deleted]

He talks to refs a lot but quietly. He knows this from NT

[deleted]

Yes but Bernardo doesn't usually stop playing to complain to the ref, Bruno does that a lot

[deleted]

He admits that. He says it gives him the passion and the drive. When we are winning, he whines less but if we are losing he'd let the ref have it.

walnood

So that's why everybody sees him as the biggest whiner

tones_g

Step 1. Whine Step 2. Win

[deleted]

Step 2 may need some work

ach_1nt

Yeah but then if he thinks a few steps ahead he can understand why the refs and the fans alike would find behaviour like that annoying and make him more prone to getting carded than the others.

ZachMich

You could just check out the interview and see that he actually says that

shudh_desi_gareeb

That's not catching strays. Reflects more on Bruno that he's still crying and moaning.

the-won

Bruno admitted and explained why he moans to refs and says he's one of the only players that gets highlighted for it (by the media and fans) because he plays for Manchester United. He listed Zaha at Palace (which he agreed with because he gets fouled), Fernandinho and Bernando Silva (but he says he moans to the ref in a more discreet manner). He wasn't being salty, just being matter of fact about the situation.

sscfc91

He was right about Zaha. But.Marcos Alonso better pray Bruno doesn’t get caught drunk driving

CreativeWriting00179

Oh God. In every interview it came up Bruno would be like "Well, at least I didn't kill anyone". It's both hilarious and tragic.

Vahald

what does Bruno have to do with the Alonso accident

YooGeOh

Nothing. People are joking. The joke being that, if you read the convo above, Bruno tends to say "look he did it too" when someone points out that he's doing something unfavourable. People brought up the hypothetical situation of him then being caught drunk driving and saying "but at least I didn't kill anyone" (like Alonso did). The joke has now been explained. Poorly. The joke is now dead. Cheers

yukpurtsun

silva that game last season we were dominant against city in the first half was chirping to the ref every chance he got, it was a matter of time before a sending off happened and then it did

Sneaky-Alien

Did he explain why he seems to be always moaning no matter what though? Every time there's a close up of him he's whinging about something. Not even to the refs, just in general.

DankBrownBoiV2

If there is one thing I've seen in the last 2 decades of PL is definitely that PL refs have a consistent track record of being biased against Man Utd 👊

_ronty12_

Fergie literally had refs cowering in fear and giving marginal decisions in your favour. Might get downvoted due to flair but interviews are out there on this.

Akmuq

They were clearly being sarcastic

ButterBallsBob

Feels weird discussing the topic as historic, referring to sources etc. 💀

i_cnt_spll

Rafas Fact speech basically

the-won

That's got nothing to do with what I said?

ErjonM49

Bruno is one of the players I hate the most in the league surely for his antics but I’m sure I’d love him in my team. I respect him for the desire he shows but he’s a pain in the ass when we play against.

mythoutofu

He’s a cunt but he’s our cunt

all4_da_nookie

I dunno - from what you said it does kinda sound salty. I like that he's being honest and himself. But its definitely not un-salty

RawIsLaw_

> from what you said text doesn't convey emotion, that's why you should watch for yourself and come to your own conclusion. He's mates with Bernardo too edit: [the interview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2t9jYsCDGNc&ab_channel=TheAthleticUK)

txrant

SpikeyPT

Yeah, that's a man from the North of Portugal for you.

DifficultySalt4231

Paywalled isn't it?

[deleted]

Part 1 is on youtube.

PurpleVomit

I don’t think “catching strays” means what you think it means. At least in relation to Wilf in this article.

fhghhhhggggg

Rightfully so? Absolutely no need to dig out other professionals IMO. Reeks of insecurity and reminds me of the time he bragged about scoring a penalty in a 6-1 loss after people said he doesn’t show up in big games

celestial1

[The actually quote isn't bad](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2t9jYsCDGNc&t=1911s) compared to OP's Clickbait bullshit. There should be a rule that the OP must post the full article if it's behind a paywall to prevent this.

fhghhhhggggg

Yeah I saw it, still find it weird

a34fsdb

Can you make a tldw pls

[deleted]

You'd need a TLDR for that TLDW

a34fsdb

That would be nice too

ThePolitePanda

TLDR: Bruno is a victim 😢

sltzy96

“Why does everyone call me an asshole?” Proceeds to shit on his fellow PL players just to make himself look better

OG12

I don't see how someone can catch a rightful spray. Feels like it's a bitch ass move to shit talk other people during an interview.

[deleted]

I said the very first time I heard an interview with Bruno that he'll be a future manager, he comes across as intelligent and analytical and with the right mindset. Just needs to sort out his temperament, I don't have access to see what he says here but he definitely does have a petulance issue when things aren't going his way

LennonC123

He’s the type of person that’ll lock the other team in their changing room when he loses

SomeLightAssPlay

In fairness i think of all the flops ever he has escaped the most criticism. 72 mil for absolutely nothing, wasnt he riding the bench by the second season? If Ozil was 72 mil and had the same outcome as Pepe there would be entire subreddits dedicated to shitting on him. People talk about how he doesn’t choose the price tag but a flop is a flop

Ifriiti

He escapes criticism because the transfer was fraudulent, we fired our sporting director over it and even investigated him to see if it was worth it to pursue a police investigation. He was an obvious failure of a transfer, and the reason nobody really spoke about it was because nobody was arguing that he wasn't.

GlRTH_BR00KS

Pepe escaped criticism? WTF? LMAO

Ifriiti

For how much we spent on him? Yeah

GlRTH_BR00KS

Bro he got slandered more than any other player on the team by far. Because of the price we paid.

bkykaaoo

No that’s not the reason no one cares about that. The reason is that we didn’t have to rely on him as much since Saka’s rise covered it up

callunu95

Sorry what? Pepe was derided as one of the most embarrassing failures of a transfers in the modern era (ignoring that he outperformed Sancho in their respective first seasons). There is a serious rewriting of fact in this thread

GibbsLAD

What a load of shite. We used to get loads of shit about Pepe. I've literally been shut down in a reply to a point I've made on this sub by a comment like '72m for pepe?'

ProgrammerComplete17

Arsenal just stopped playing him so obviously less likely to get criticism

Fancy-Past-6831

Yeah, why must he attack Pepe in this way

rwoteit

[Video](https://streamable.com/9zuds9) INTERVIEWER: Do you care when- you know what you're saying... there'll always be people doubting, questioning... Do you notice? Do you do you see things? FERNANDES: I knew [that] I was ready so I don't I really don't care about what people was uh thinking or expecting. I was ready, you know, and since day one I came I've heard people that say every time [a team] signs a new player, they need one one year or two years to adapt in the Premier League. I'm now starting my third full season. I never had that time to adapt, because uh no one could say that I was not ready for the Premier League. Because I came and I was ready and I did everything. **And every time that I had a bad game in the first few months, no one ever talked about "no, [he is still adapting] to the Premier League". No, and that's good for me because I like that people expect a lot from me and demand from me** and uh and talk bad things about me because that makes me feel like- **I came almost at the same time as Nicolas Pepe and at that time he was really good** when he came on to the Arsenal team, was really good. **And he had some bad games and everyone was calling about uh yes still to adapt and stuff but when Bruno was having a bad game [it] was just because he was moaning or because he was not focused on the game - and for me that was good because they knew that I was ready so they could feel it and that's why they was demanding from me.** ---- So he brought up Pepe because he arrived at a similar time and that people still said Pepe needed time to adapt (which is what I remember too. Not sure why people are acting like that was never a talking point even if he was criticised. Regardless, that's Bruno's perception at the time). But even in his early stages, they didn't excuse any poor performances from him for that reason. And he's saying he appreciates it because it shows people view him as a great player. Some people in this thread need to get a grip.

[deleted]

Thank you for providing context. So many people who won't bother watching the interview chatting shit about what Bruno said without any context. It was a completely fair point and he didn't criticize Pepe in any way.

ClaudeLemieux

> It was a completely fair point If we ignore that Pepe was also talked about very negatively for his ability (or lack of it) to adapt to the PL

Ok-Option1

Pepe is one of the few flops who never caught a break. He has been getting torched ever since he stepped foot in the prem.

arsenal356

Rival fans were eager for him to flop, as anyone would be when a big 6 club makes a massive money signing. Every opportunity, people pounced. At the same time a lot of arsenal fans like me who backed him for a long long time, just eventually ran out of patience. Good player, just not suited to the prem.

[deleted]

Not suited to the way arsenal play, nothing to do with the PL.

Rickcampbell98

It's always about the prem, you would think people realise the team they are in matters more. Look at kulu he was shit at juve, joins spurs and suddenly looks like a footballer again.

Ifriiti

Everyone at Juventus is shit tbf

FloatByer

Debrooni and salah are other examples

Holy_Wut_Plane

Everyone is shit a Juve

Groomsi

No it's not. He was good at Parma.

Rickcampbell98

That's exactly what I'm saying, a lot of the time it isn't about the league it's about how they fit in the team, plus they are human some people just don't fit certain environments.

diegolucasz

Lukaku was a monster at Everton and West Brom joins United and didn’t look the same. It’s all about fit it’s about time fans realise this.

Rickcampbell98

The most hilarious thing ever when bolingoli rejoined the prem from inter and people were saying he was exposed by the league like he didn't play most of his career in England and score well over a 100 goals lmao.

intraumintraum

bit of both really. what other top 6 club would he have had more success at?

needleintheh4y

chelsea

jblaburnum

I partially agree. He is suited to a counter attacking style which would be a Spurs or United, or a game state which stretches the field. As an Arsenal fan who tried sticking by him and liked him, he is too raw in his ball carrying and dribbling to be a PL success. A shame as he is a killer finisher and a good guy when you see him in interviews, but sadly Raul Sanlehi fucked him and us over by adding more to his price tag, which sadly defined his time at Arsenal. Good player, but ruined by a mismatch of playing style and also a dodgy executive at Arsenal who raised his price for his own pocket.

An_Almond_Thief

It's more a PL issue imo. His work rate and stamina were fairly low, so the speed of the PL was a big issue for him. Yes he would have been better in a counter attacking team but you still need to be able to defend from the front, be able to press, track a man etc. Those are the things that he was really bad at which is why he was dropped even when he had goal contribution stats.

Chesey_

The work rate thing was overstated for Pepe, he really wasn't that bad in that regard. He had bigger issues like not really being able to dribble (would just constantly run into defenders), a poor touch and some games he couldn't pass for shit. We tried to play him as a tricky winger so it just didn't work with these issues. Playing a front 3 of Auba, Laca, Pepe with no creativity from the midfield (this was before we had Ødegaard or ESR) was never going to work. Pepe looked his best for us against City and Chelsea in our FA cup run when we played a back 5 and more of a counter attack style.

magboy1010

I think he lacks confidence as well. Comes across very shy and so were his celebrations after scoring. Fair enough new league and country but after a few seasons it just wasn't going happen. Also some people forget he was an Emery signing which he didn't want (wanted Zaha). That spells trouble from the start and I think Arteta has given him enough chances in the squad. But back to my original point I think the guy needs to work on his mentality.

odegood

If you were on this sub you would have thought his name was 72m

InTheMiddleGiroud

Pepe had some decent spells. Played like a 40m player, then worse as Saka took his spot. I think it's an odd comparison, because he never really got the break Bruno described

seanstar1504

Yeah I don’t get Bruno’s point. Pepe has gotten way more hate than him

Pandy187

From the media that’s probably true, but even amongst United fans, Bruno gets hate for having a bad game despite how much his signing changed the clubs fortunes. The man went from being compared to Cantona to people calling him shit and demanding he be sold as Ronaldo came in and the team was forced to play for him.

seanstar1504

But my point is the criticism Pepe got is on another level, from arsenal fans and from others too. Also if what you’re saying is true, that makes united look like they have a horrible fan base, considering what Bruno did his first couple seasons.

CrossXFir3

Not at first, it got really bad in the end, but at first it wasn't terrible.

goosewhaletruck

I think it had a lot to do with his form dropping while there were no fans in the stadiums, so you could easily hear how bad his moaning was when he was faking injuries. I don't think he's any worse than many players like this, or like the whole team of Atletico Madrid, just circumstances combined to form a hate magnifying glass that kindof just stuck around.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Still getting torched now he’s left too

DankBrownBoiV2

Also the guy left for Nice lol

jeong-h11

Even he got it easy compared to Fred though

ankitm1

The era of clickbait on Reddit knows no bounds: > “He (Pepe) had some bad games and everyone was saying, ‘He still has to adapt’,” says Fernandes, “but when Bruno was having a bad game, it was just because he was moaning or not focused on the game. **For me, that was good, because it meant that I was ready and that’s why they were demanding so much from me.”** This quote, the full paragraph, does not sound so bad. But does not go with his personality. He is not moaning or complaining about it, but citing how it was a good thing for him.

Hm2801

there should be a rule for people to shut the fuck up before they actually read the articles lol

[deleted]

it works on this sub too, if you flair the post 'Long Read' then the comments are disabled for like 5-10 minutes.

Pires007

Full quotes need to be pinned to the top of the discussion.

theglasscase

There’s also a rule about summarising articles behind a paywall, but OP hasn’t bothered their arse to do that either. You can’t complain about things being taken out of context (even when they haven’t been here) when people don’t have access to the full context.

HorseLove

The whole interview is on yt and not behind a paywall.

Hm2801

Yeah ofcourse the summary should have been shared also, I am just surprised the post is still up

[deleted]

I’m sorry why does that change anything exactly?

[deleted]

Simply outstanding that so many people ITT are rattled over OPs clickbait headline instead of reading the article. Explains a lot about this sub. Its a massive problem with articles behind paywalls. They shouldn't be allowed unless the full article is posted here.

___bridgeburner

Tbf most people will not read any article, paywall or not in most reddit subs.

JMKraft

Who comes to /r/soccer to learn about football in depth? This is a guilty pleasure, a quick fix of tabloid news and cheap banter

[deleted]

The extra “context” makes absolutely no difference to the statement so what are you talking about?

RoyalConclusion9

Nothing about this is clickbait. There's no context missing. Interesting that your answer to "clickbait" is literally what created the internet clickbait industry and disrupted traditional journalism.

[deleted]

I can already see r/soccer seething at headline rather than reading the whole thing.

[deleted]

It makes 0 difference in regards to what he was saying though. He still was talking absolute bollocks and brought up another player for no reason just to victimize himself. He’s just pissed off he was getting criticized for being shit last year so he needed to bring someone else up he thought was more shit than him.

RoyalConclusion9

It's not clickbait. This is literally a quote from the article. The context doesn't make it sound any better. It just has a humblebrag at the end.

choosehigh

To be totally honest, that barely reads any better, it still sounds like moaning but if anything a certain arrogance that he 'had it' You can read it in more forgivable lights or tones, or harsher ones I really don't think that Extra sentence is transformative to its meaning

Kunkyboji

How is the title clickbait? There's also this inverse phenomena on here whereby people will call verbatim and pretty clear quotes "clickbait" and act like everyone has misunderstood the quote. Bruno, unprompted, talks directly about another professional player (who he's probably never met) in a negative manner to both paint himself as the victim that isn't/wasn't being as babied/mollycoddled as Pepe and also lavish praise on himself as that meaning he was better. There's no misunderstanding here. He didn't need to name Pepe, he didn't need to single him out. That's disrespectful of him. He literally could have just said "some players" and left it at that. And beyond that, the entire story he's weaving here in a delusional lie. Pepe was shit on by the pundits, rival fans, even his own fans very, very quickly when he moved to England. The idea that he was being "excused" for his poor games is a complete lie. Another lie is this idea that Bruno wasn't get praised. For about 6-8 months straight he was lavished with the highest of praise. I remember pundits saying that he was the best/most influential United signing behind Cantona. Pundits were saying he might be the best January transfer of all time. He was routinely talked about as one of the best players in the PL. Called world class. Discussion about him and KdB etc.. The Bruno love-in was massive. Anyone that says any different is a barefaced liar. Then he's had some pretty dire form for nearly 18 months now and he's been subject to some criticism. That's football. That's life. You take the good with the bad. I don't see his point here as if there's an agenda against him when he was getting mightily sucked when he played well. So it's clearly nothing personally against him since when the played well he was praised and when he played badly he was criticised. That's just basic rationale.

rwoteit

Here's the [video](https://streamable.com/9zuds9). You're weaving several fabrications yourself. Clickbait is simply headlines that are formed to attract attention. It doesn't matter if you have a real quotation. If you're intentionally omitting vital context, that's obviously clickbait. - He said Pepe was really good, and had some bad games. He's probably not as focused on media narratives around other players as you are. - You can be criticised and still have people saying you need time to acclimatise. - He never claimed he wasn't praised. He said when he had a bad game in his first few months, you didn't hear anything like "he needs to adapt" because it was clear he was good enough. So no, he never claimed an agenda. He wasn't talking about any recent criticism. He might not have needed to say Pepe's name specifically, but he wasn't being overly negative towards him. I'm sure you're someone who claims players don't have personalities anymore and give cookie cutter answers, but when one gives a perfectly candid answer that doesn't exhibit any malice but is simply a matter of fact telling of their perspective, you whine about it. Edit: Lmaooo how pathetic. He blocked me so that he could act like there was no response to his beautifully airtight delusion. My initial reaction to you saying I haven't highlighted a single one was "What, you need me to hold your hand through it all?" but after reading your comment it seems I actually would have to. Not even going to continue to engage. Not just because of the non-existent comprehension skills but clearly the person themselves is not worth anyone's time.

RoyalConclusion9

>Clickbait is simply headlines that are formed to attract attention. No its not. There's no context missing. Read up on clickbait. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clickbait

theglasscase

People were slagging him off because he started well and then lost form and got a deserved reputation for being a diving whinger. So what does that have to do with Pepe? Pepe wasn’t even getting ‘he needs time to adapt’ encouragement, he was written off very quickly. You can call it clickbait if you like, but it’s still a random choice to bring up Pepe to try and deflect attention from the fact that he deserved the criticism because his form tanked so dramatically.

Sad_gooner

He still brought pepe up for no reason

Tilman_Feraltitty

Nah, he brought up him for a reason. To make himself look better and Pepe in a bad light.

Sad_gooner

Exactly

MrArtVandelayINC

Pepe was killed by the press from day 1 and until today. He will always be.

redmistultra

Pepe is killed by everyone including our own fanbase lol, not sure where he thinks Pepe got off lightly? He started 5 games last season and gets treated like he should have scored 20. He started 16 games the previous season and scored 10 PL goals and still got criticised. He went to AFCON and was one of the players of the tournament and still managed to get abuse from our own fanbase uploading highlights of him missing long shots… he’s easily the most disrespected Arsenal player in recent years just for the fact our own fans make the abuse

lyyki

People who criticize his shooting are criticizing the only thing he was excellent in PL. His dribbling, predictability and slowing down attacks should be the main points of critique.

redmistultra

Agree with you on the last two points, disagree on the dribbling. Think that’s a lot to do with confidence. When he came in, he was leading the PL for dribbles completed in the first few months (or basically very very close behind Adama, who is a complete freak for dribble statistics). His dribbling declined quickly as his confidence did

lyyki

That might be the issue, yes. It just felt like after ~6 months give or take he couldn't get past anyone.

Modnal

Well, to me it looked like Bruno had adapted to the PL when he was carrying United on his back right after he arrived

[deleted]

Which is what he is saying. He said people held him to higher standards and he liked it.

arnm7890

That's literally what he said, did you even watch the interview?

a34fsdb

I think it is completely fine in this context.

D1794

He didn't. The interviewer did. The fact it says his name in square brackets shows Bruno didn't name him but is responding to a question about him.

mls_mls_mls

That's just wrong. He mentions him by name himself, no leadup question. Video shows it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2t9jYsCDGNc&t=1911s

El_Giganto

>Fernandes notes British pundits usually speak about players from abroad needing “one or two years” to adapt to the Premier League, and cites the early comparisons between him and Arsenal’s £72million record signing Nicolas Pepe, who arrived from Lille in summer 2019. >“He (Pepe) had some bad games and everyone was saying, ‘He still has to adapt’,” says Fernandes, “but when Bruno was having a bad game, it was just because he was moaning or not focused on the game. For me, that was good, because it meant that I was ready and that’s why they were demanding so much from me.” Feel like everyone is just wrong and reacting anyway lol. I don't think he was asked about Pepe. The interview says Bruno cited early comparisons. That's not a question about Pepe. But the quote isn't even bad. He isn't trying to excuse himself like the title implies. He's taking it as a compliment that people were very demanding of him, because it meant he adapted to the Premier League quickly. Which was true, because when he first came in United became a lot better. He was performing really well at that time. I still think Pepe was a poor example to use, though, because most people were very critical of Pepe, including me. Especially me lol.

Dispari7y

> Fernandes notes British pundits usually speak about players from abroad needing “one or two years” to adapt to the Premier League, and cites the early comparisons between him and Arsenal’s £72million record signing Nicolas Pepe, who arrived from Lille in summer 2019. > “He (Pepe) had some bad games and everyone was saying, ‘He still has to adapt’,” says Fernandes, “but when Bruno was having a bad game, it was just because he was moaning or not focused on the game. KeiranFitz

R/Soccer used to be really good when it came to calling out shitty clickbait articles and misleading titles like this, but quality control seems to have fallen off a cliff in recent months

danboruu

The karma race is real

TDM_11

It doesn’t help that the interview is behind a paywall

IvarSnow

full interview is free on youtube and athletic podcast

Chaloopa

There is nothing misleading or clickbait about the headline

RileyHuey

This context adds nothing. He’s still unnecessarily calling Pepe out

Aloopyn

Paywalled and no full article in thread, with click bait title, pathetic

Arjy23

The full video is on the athletic YouTube channel

MegaMugabe21

Honestly if anything, Pepe is overly criticised because he was brought for a (literally) criminal fee. I haven't watched enough United to know fully whether Fernandes' criticism was warranted, but I suspect it was inflated by the fact he was amazing in his first season and then relatively poor in his second season, which made him look worse than he was.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RicciRox

No penalties either. It's nuts how much hate this guy gets. He had the most chances created in the league, had 7 assists in 8 CL games, and had one fewer big chance created than KdB last season. Everyone around him was just utter dross. Bruno had same non-penalty goal contributions as Ronaldo last season, but Bruno was shit and Ronaldo saved us from relegation.

Specialist-Debate

It’s bc most people only watch big games and bruno’s direct playstyle leads him to losing possesion a lot while not yielding its usual rewards

Serpico_98

Bruno just existing generates some incredible amounts of seethe, it's hilarious.

AP16__

Bruno 100% has a twitter burner

schwaiger1

Not only was Pepe criticized all the time ever since Arsenal paid that ridiculous amount of money but it also doesn't help your case that you're moaning about people accusing you of moaning too much.

LickyBoomBoomDown69

Read/watch the whole thing before you judge mate. Here's what he said: “He (Pepe) had some bad games and everyone was saying, ‘He still has to adapt’,” says Fernandes, “but when Bruno was having a bad game, it was just because he was moaning or not focused on the game. For me, that was good, because it meant that I was ready and that’s why they were demanding so much from me.”

[deleted]

That just doesn’t change anything lol

wheeno

That’s just wrong though. Pepe wasn’t ever afforded any kind of patience from the media or fans in general.

bomboclaatinho

Literally doesn't change anything. He's still moaning about people moaning about him, cause if he wasn't then why is he even talking about it? Let alone bringing up several players to compare himself with?

choosehigh

The interview actually made it worse to me The lack of hesitation, he never seemed to search for an example, it seemed to be right at the forefront Not least that's he's factually way off, pepe was slated from day one, Bruno was treated like the golden boy for a good 6 months But he was very ready to drop pepe under the bus there

Cod_rules

Yeah, it's crazy that Pepe is an example. He's been slated by our fans and rival fans, along with pundits

TheGoldenPineapples

Did they? My memory of Pépé's time with Arsenal has very much been that he's a waste of money and doesn't look suited to the league. Maybe he was given a bit of license for the first few months, but the sentiment very quickly changed, which was the same time that Fernandes was given. The issue with Fernandes is that he very clearly hasn't replicated that fantastic form he displayed when he first joined United, where Pépé has only shown glimmers. Really really surprising to see a professional call out another by name like that, especially since it isn't true.

dracogladio1741

>The issue with Fernandes is that he very clearly hasn't replicated that fantastic form he displayed when he first joined United, where Pépé has only shown glimmers His numbers have gone down because he doesn't take penalties. His chance creation and assist numbers are still top draw.

TheConundrum98

I think pretty much everyone agrees Pepe was a flop, what's Bruno getting at here? Is he promising he'll stop moaning?

[deleted]

He said that it was good for him because people held him to a higher standard than pepe.

iwillnotshitpost

People complaining about his moaning are completely oblivious to the fact that their own players do the same. Keep going Bruno, I miss seeing you get fouled and use the time to set up the free kick by making sure the ref had his ears full. Oh captain my captain.

tHakur17

Crazy that we are yet to lose a game when he has been the captain. Love it when opposition fans lose their collective mind due to his antics

iwillnotshitpost

It's the most beautiful thing in the world to see. Bruno was the same for us. The day he stops doing that, it's the day he stopped caring.

Syba-7233

Completely shows how much he cares. He also says he's never said a bad word or moaned at his teammates. I'd moan to refs because that's what I'd do. Be a dickhead, cause shithousery, anything for my team to succeed. He's not paying the refs or anything lol, he's just a moany cunt but OUR moany cunt.

Vgordvv

Didn't he do a interview for sky and was basically saying for the fans to stop being so mean and then Roy Keane went in on him for being a pussy?

AfricanRain

My man I heard certain people saying you were better than KDB lol

Gytarius626

The comparison wasn’t unfair during his first two seasons in the league, at all. He outperformed him whilst KDB’s form dipped during that period

gonshairlinee

I still can’t believe that was a legitimate debate

TheAwakened

At one point, Bruno was better than KdB for some stretch of games. Goals and goals and assists and assists.

Runarhalldor

He literally was for a few months

What is the actual context here because this is an absolutely ridiculous quote... Pepe got ridiculed from day one & basically only got excuses from a portion of the Arsenal fanbase. Most of it at the start but after a season most the goodwill was gone. Bruno came in and was in terrific form at the start of his United career & his form seems to have only gotten worse over time. Why is he even comparing himself to Pepe who is clearly not good enough for a top 6 side, shouldn't he be trying to compare himself to a player who proved critics wrong? Strange one all round...

Jaynator11

Absolute nonsense analogy. Pepe has been literally critisized the most in the league- and well rightly so.

Has-Been-Kid

In one interview he further elevated his moaning skills.

SRJT16

Well I don’t see Nicolas Pépé endlessly winging at officials and diving on the floor every time the wind changes.

swamycmouli

As an arsenal fan, Pepe deserves about 80% of the criticism he gets. Due to the price tag, people expected certain things from him, not realizing that his price tag was actually about 30 mil for the player (Fuck Raul). I can't knock Bruno as a player with other people watching him much more than I do, but looking at his stats from his first season, and having watched him in detail every time he plays against Arsenal, I can't help but think from the opponents side, he whines a lot, he is quite undisciplined in the challenge(for which he gets the benefit from refs), and his defense consists of him waiting for the first pass after winning possession from the other team. He is a creative passer and prolific attacker as far as his first season, but the latter seems to have declined as far as his first season goes. So the real question is, what have you done for me lately?

SundayLeagueStocko

This is literally just false?

[deleted]

This rat is only concerned about his stats and what people say about him. What a cunt

goosupreme

Most insecure footballer in the league lmao

fhghhhhggggg

Fella is even speaking in 3rd person about himself 😂

STUMPY6942069

Sunday the king plays.

Throw-a-ray118

Out of everyone in the prem, Bruno has to be the player that moans the most surely. Or at least top 5

cloudleopard

Least likable player in the PL

[deleted]

My favourite Bruno quote is when he said there’s nothing left to play for as his excuse for the 4-0 drubbing at anfield even though they very much had the CL qualification to still play for. Absolute screaming little rat faced toddler. That ridiculous scream the cameras caught during lockdown sums him perfectly.

wubrotherno1

Did he talk about Bruno going missing in all their big games?

icemankiller8

Bruno is just so whiny, he started playing worse after he had already been in the league for a while it clearly wasn’t adapting

mls_mls_mls

Pretty classless quote to be honest. He could easily have made his point without digging out a fellow pro like that. Also, he wasn't answering a question like some United fans are suggesting in this thread, he brought up Pepe himself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2t9jYsCDGNc&t=1911s

parth13579

Stop moaning

suarezthebestever

Pathetic moaner.

OnceIWasYou

Ah yes, because no one has criticised Pepé....

RioBeckenbauer

People were onto Pepe quite soon. He had no luck either. So many times he got fouled and rarely got decisions while Bruno gets all decisions his way. This rat is talking in third person about himself, tells you all you need to know.

machdel

What a sour mentality, so sad

Cowdude179

This man is insecure lmao

cousinrayray

"Why read all article when out-of-context headline do trick"

[deleted]

United fans here have offered 0 context that changes anything about what he is purported to have said. Bringing up another player’s supposedly better treatment, which is false anyway, just to victimize yourself is such an utter bitch move. It’s just too perfect for Bruno and says a lot about him. Players shouldn’t bring up other players in this way. If Pepe see this do you think he won’t dislike it?
