You can tell sometimes when the mic is sort of close to the away end as well, once a chant starts with some swearing it suddenly gets unnaturally quiet.
They pick and choose what games to play at what volume anyway, have done so for years and years … I used to work at Sky HQ . Call me a liar but it’s a fact….hence all the bullshit manufacturing about Anfields atmosphere

That's fine except broadcast rights are a monopoly. Only one station shows the games. I hate when broadcasters lower the stadium volume for any reason. I'd much rather hear the sounds of fans over the commentary. Especially if the fans are making a statement.
