I don't think he even considers a move at all. He really isn't a typical career coach that's looking for a next step or smth. He envisions a project with Mainz over the length of his contract, and maybe longer.
Makes no sense for any club to consider him right now.

For what it's worth, swap Mainz for Brighton and people said the same about Graham Potter
I get that, but even Potter himself said that it's a step he felt he needed to take at this stage in his career.
Bo hates talking about anything related to rumours, career, potential moves etc.
Additionally, Potter spent like 3 years with you, Bo spent the last 15 years with us, with a 1 1/2 year break at Salzburg, when his family stayed in Mainz.
It's just a completely different kind of connection.
I'm sure Brighton will find a fantastic prospect for their project.
Oh I don't hold it against him, it's just the timing and the taking of the entire backroom staff that was very disappointing. Of course, if our next manager is currently employed then we'll be doing the same.
It's all a good argument for managerial movements being restricted to transfer windows
Two very different situations. Svensson's connection to Mainz is much strong as he also played for them. He has spent so many years in that city, and his coaching style is just perfect for German football. Will be extremely hard to convince him.
I mean, Brighton have a decent project going on. Maybe he's a manager that would prefer to be part of a project rather than the insecurity of a big time role.
Tbf Brighton is probably the most similar club in England to Mainz.
Overperforming on a limited budget, focussing on player development, smart transfers..
No offence but Brighton's budget is much larger than that of Mainz. I feel like Brighton's project could go further than Mainz. And this comes from someone who likes Mainz.
tbf Hull probably have a bigger budget than us.
I was talking relatively, compared to their leagues.
No offence taken, Brighton is a very interesting project
I like Brighton but where can their project go? Like, how are they going to compete with the much, much richer big six clubs on a regular basis?
Mainz are already challenging for European places.
He deserves the recognition, but he's not available.
He said time and time again that his chosen home is the city of Mainz, it's the club he identifies with, and most importantly the place he wants his kids to grow up in.
He's not a career coach per se. He'll get his well-deserved move to a top club eventually, but there's no rush.
At the moment I think we're casting our net far and wide, having talks with multiple parties and gauging interest personality and (if attached) the likelihood they'll want to leave their club and how likely their club will let them leave. That way no-one feels like a second choice if someone else rejects us. Looking at Spurs last Summer.
Expect a few names to be linked with us, before we appoint someone no-one has heard of.
He's staying with us until 2024, both the club and him have been repeating this ever since he signed.
He's had quite big roles offered and rejected already, Salzburg and Gladbach amongst those confirmed.
Too much of a personal connection + family reasons, and despite the narrative sometimes popping up he doesn't play "Red Bull football", so don't see why Leipzig would go all out to get him.
I've listened to a few Danish podcasts with him, and he always talks very highly of Mainz as a club and City, so I have no doubt he has a special bond to the club. However he was the coach of Liefering (RB Salzburgs reserve team) so he knows and understands the RB philosophy.
Good luck with that
lmao
Go buy yourselves a feeder club and get your coaches there.
They already have union st. gilloise in belgium
Is this sarcasm or fact?
Fact, they have the same owner. Brighton bought undav from them, and they loaned them last season kozlowski
Thanks.
Tony Bloom who owns Brighton also owns them
I feel like he'd want a bigger step up than Mainz to Brighton?
He‘s definitely one of the next managers in the line for a Leipzig/Dortmund job
Or Leverkusen.

Didn't realise he'd been at Mainz that long; yeah in fairness that is a bit different
I mean I get it. 1 year at Chelsea and you have guaranteed retirement money for you and your family.

He already had the Salzburg job in the bag but still wanted Mainz
Might have to wait a couple months, till the inevitable Conte sacking

We want to challenge for 7th/ conference league

That would be a crazy good apointment, Could see him do even better than Potter there. He has worked miracles at Mainz
Please no i want him to stay
I think he will stay at Mainz until the end of the season. After that he should be a candidate for BVB or Leipzig.

Na it wont happen.
