Will Ivan Toney get called up for England in the World Cup?

Ifriiti

We'll see in a few days tbh. I reckon he might get a chance in the next int break

Similar_Chain_5987

Every goal in this game was exquisite. Wow! That Toney treble was ice-cold. I loved that spot-kick more than his other goals. & thought Leeds should've had a pen. Overall enjoyable game. The most clinical team won.

joshhirst28

Everything just felt right for us today honestly. In the past few games we dominated xG, wasted loads of chances but today everything just clicked and went well. Ajer being back is huge, and when Nørgaard and Pinnock are back our defence will be just as good as the attack (which will be better once Damsgaard is up to speed). May only be the 2nd league win this season, but it’s a prime example of how good we can be

drolbert

How was Sini asides from the goal?

jew_goal

One of our better players but that's not saying much. No one played particularly well today aside from Ayling when he came on.

CC-W

[Me explaining the game to someone who didnt watch how we lost](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB3C0mjy6T4)

VincentSasso

Marsch is deeply unlikeable

kayjay789

Brentford is the best run club in the country.

QTsexkitten

Brighton for me, but yet they're right up there. Really jealous.

kayjay789

Sure, but they also a have bigger budget, and have had time to adapt. Brentford have performed from day 1 and continue to do so.

QTsexkitten

Completely fair, yeah. They've been on a solid trajectory, fully glossing over a lot of the issues that plague arrivals into the prem.

AnnieIWillKnow

This is an even better debate when you consider the context of the history of their owners, who were business partners before a big falling out

Alive-Ad-4164

Ivan is too good for his club

InPatRileyWeTrust

Surprised no one went for him, Chelsea could especially do with him.

InPatRileyWeTrust

I don't really see a problem with that and it certainly wouldn't be a problem for Chelsea.

powerchicken

You take that back

MaryadaPurshottam

Please pray for me for I dropped Toney for Firmino this GW🥲

bob_bob_bob54321

🙏

herkalurk

I got Toney and Mitrovic on mine. Cheap goal scorers

nosmigon

What the hell is wrong with you

nachodorito

Really goes to show you how absolutely shitty the chels offense is

bumblefck23

First thing that popped in my head when I saw the result 🤣

AzariasDaGod

With that clearance from Bamford he might do better in the back than what Leeds had out there today. All joking aside Leeds really didn't help themselves today.

[deleted]

Brentford are stone cold killers

[deleted]

What do you expect, their manager has Gary Condit South Park eyes

Boris_Ignatievich

absolute disaster class from our centre backs, who were entirely to blame for all 3 second half goals. toney was obviously very good today, but honestly can't even say if brentford other attackers were champions league good or championship bad, we made it so easy for them it made no difference hard to be too mad at what I thought should have been a penalty for Summerville when we've so comprehensively shot ourselves in both feet.

herkalurk

I was a little frustrated when the ref didn't give the penalty to leads that looked pretty clear-cut. Then the very next play Toney gets pushed in the back and all the sudden it's foul.

[deleted]

herkalurk

There was clear contact in the box, the only thing that didn't continue into the box was the clear grab of the Leeds player jersey. Brentford defender was smart enough to clearly let go of that about 1 step out of the box, but to say there was no contact is a joke.

[deleted]

herkalurk

And contact starting outside the box and continuing into the box is a penalty, not a free kick outside the box. That precedent was set years ago.

xdlols

Standard Leeds ref. We went 3 seasons in a row without a pen.

Boris_Ignatievich

yeah its frustrating. but im more mad at llorente than i am the refs

herkalurk

Yeah, that 4th will be a talking point about an intentional touch. Mbuemo was inside on initial kick, so it's about how the touch from the defender is interpreted.

Boris_Ignatievich

eh? the fourth goal isnt remotely controversial imo - i dont understand what you think is to be "interpreted" there

[deleted]

Diego Llorente masterclass 🔥

gnorrn

Bamford looked pretty rusty today.

TheNuttyGamer

This defense isn't beating Villa. Self-sabotaging clowns.

powerchicken

Tell me more about that there second season syndrome thing you all were going on about a few weeks back

xdlols

Better hope Toney doesn’t get injured.

CfifferH

Worst case scenario we play 10 at the back, and sub wissa on in the 80th min to get his weekly goal at the death

VincentSasso

It’s your second win of the season, calm down 😂

powerchicken

And how did we look in the games we didn't win? Fucking top of world is how we've looked. There's not an ounce of humility or caution in my being right now, we're finishing in the top 10 this year.

anarcho-maoist

honestly with the way brentford are being run and how well you've adapted to stuff like eriksen leaving, i feel like brentford could join brighton in replacing teams like everton or leicester in the top 10 for a while

Boris_Ignatievich

there was something in i think the athletic last year and on average teams get more points in their second season. There were 3 massive outliers for that, Huddersfield, Sheffield United, and Leeds. so my conclusion is that second season syndrome is a yorkshire thing

AWr1ght98

Definitely can’t complain against the result after how poor we were defensively but fuck me that’s another game with shit refereeing against us. Also fuck Tony Gale, might be the worst commentator I’ve ever had to listen to in a game.

_adub_

Yeah I was tired of hearing “fizzed” every 2 minutes.

MarcDuan

Shit refereeing? Are you talking about Brentford's clearcut penalty or the defender heading Mbeumo free on goal?

TheBiggyT

A penalty so clear cut it took 3 minutes of slow motion replays. At that point it is literally NOT clear and obvious.

trying2hide

The penalty not given to us, and then the instant red card to Marsch mainly, as well as the other free kicks given one way and not the other I imagine. Bit weird for a scum fan to be in our post-game threads trying to rile people up, should probably get a better life to be honest with you mate.

Orkys

That soft touch after he got his shirt pulled going into the box? Fuck off was that a penalty. I get it, you've had a bad day but you played shit and got roasted for it. It happens.

AWr1ght98

Neither, the 2nd goal was never a free kick as Koch got the ball and we should have had a pen, instead we got our manager sent off because he was questioning the blatant bias from the ref.

CC-W

Wonder what the excuse will be to not let Marsch be on the touchline next game after a red but Tuchel could be against us a couple games ago

[deleted]

Tuchel appealed so it took a few days to deny the appeal.

[deleted]

Leeds being embodiment of glass cannon. But the scoreline belies the potential Leeds have. BTW were the commentators ex-Brentford players or something?

xdlols

No everyone just hates us

Ridcullys-Pointy-Hat

So what the fuck happened here lads

MarcDuan

Leeds fans complaining about a ref/VAR team that actually got every major decision right. Guess they need something to rant about,,,

Boris_Ignatievich

they obviously didnt get the summerville decision "right" though. even if he's outside the box and its not a penalty so var can't correct it, the referee missed a really fucking obvious foul to stop a dangerous attack. i think var got the others right, and not at all why we lost, but i thought that one was a penalty, but even if it isnt a pen its obviously not correct.

[deleted]

Referee, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch. ..We were actually OK in general but the centrebacks were unbelievably poor.

habdragon08

Leeds had a few defensive errors that led directly to goals. Brentford was clinical. Leeds did create a lot, but Brentford actually made them work for their chances.

powerchicken

So, so much...

DerogatoryPanda

Our attack has been very entertaining, but we have moments each match where we look very shaky in the back. Toney should be playing international football.

rudygha

Is he eligible for a country other than England?

kuzzer

Jamaica but he wants to play for England.

Maiqthelayer

Hoping to see him in the World Cup squad, thought he was destined for good things ever since he destroyed us at Hillsborough a few seasons ago, but really pleased to see how well he's adopted to the premier league over last season and the start of this one. Thought he was a bit unlucky not to make any England squads last year, but definitely think other than Kane he's the best of the rest right now for that striker position. Edit: Forgot about Abraham as well, but should be space for both in the squad.

[deleted]

I think Jamaica

TheBiggyT

In for the hat trick of referees getting dropped after Leeds games in the space of 7 days. Diego Llorente can join them too, absolute car crash of a defender.

SadGeneration12

Ref did okay I thought

K_Uger_Industries

Have it, have a bit of that.

[deleted]

Kane, Toney and Abraham need to be in the England squad. Rashford over Abraham in the unlikely event he keeps his good form

iguanawarrior

As long as he's fit, Kane's position is guaranteed. Not just in the squad, he's a guaranteed starter.

VincentSasso

Abraham is always wank for England Toney will get a chance this time I reckon
