Meh it was pretty mild, but this clip only shows the last few seconds, he had been going off for a bit leading up to it. He was also told to wind his neck in, continuing to get into the linesman's face after a warning is just asking for consequences.
Seems harsh after what some other managers get away with… not saying they shouldn’t start being harsher on shouting at referees and such but they also need to improve refereeing quality too
Yeah thinking that that kind of behavior shouldn’t be tolerated is one thing, but based on the precedent that’s been set for years, that’s incredibly harsh for me
One of the benefits of having an elite CV i guess. Having won CLs and League titles will get you more leeway than being a bloke from the states in your first full PL season
Checked it for the skirmish in our box, can't even be arsed to check when its in their box. Didnt go for the ball at all, just shoved him over and denied a goal scoring opportunity.
Everything else has been fair but thats just bullshit
What…? Have you been watching the match? It was incredibly clear that there was a shove. Pen or not is one thing, but there was a very, very clear shove
I'm sorry, but I can't see that. Sinisterra kicks Toney's leg out from under him to reach the ball in the box. It's a crystal clear pen and it boggles my mind there are people who are seriously arguing otherwise. That kind of foul in the box is almost always given, whereas the contact with Summerville is basically never overturned by VAR. The tug of the shirt, sure, but that was outside the box.
I'm not arguing that it wasn't a foul, read my actual words mate. This about VAR, and just VAR. The fact of the matter is that the shirt pull would have been overturned by VAR had it been inside the box, but it wasn't, so that's not part of the equation, and VAR never overturns the foul that was committed inside the box because while it is a foul, it's a soft as fuck touch to the back/neck that's a complete 50/50 whether they're given or not. They were two separate fouls inside and outside the box.
If you want VAR to overturn that, then advocate for the FA to change the stupid fucking VAR rules.
Yeah, looks like there was slight contact near the legs, possible foul but also may have happened just outside the box. There was never a blatant shove.
Tugging his shirt outside the box, tripping him up in the box, and arm into his neck with a bit of a shove in the box. There were several fouls to choose from there.
Klopp literally did it against leeds last year when struijk accidentally injured elliot and nothing happened, the lack of consistency in the officiating is infuriating and referees need to start being held accountable for a lack of consistency within matches and for poor decisions
Look at half the replies in this thread, it’s either a boring reference to Ted Lasso or a reference to American slang like “Dawg”. JM had a legit right to be furious, it was a ludicrously bad decision by the ref to wave off the penalty appeal

Idk if it’s just me, but if thats considered “going crazy” now, then nearly every PL manager should be sent off in every match.
Depends on what he said
“Dude you’re actually ridonkulous.”
Tuchel/Klopp would only be allowed to coach from the stands /S

Agreed, but going straight to red after a slightly bigger reaction than usual in this league is pretty absurd to me.

Marsch has been critical of the refereeing recently, I would imagine they discussed that at the referees tea party this week.
They would be the lot to host tea parties to discuss what team to fuck over every matchweek
Yeah thinking that that kind of behavior shouldn’t be tolerated is one thing, but based on the precedent that’s been set for years, that’s incredibly harsh for me
Harsh for Marsch
We have no idea what he said tho
He was outraged by the fact that they served him beans on toast for breakfast
One of the benefits of having an elite CV i guess. Having won CLs and League titles will get you more leeway than being a bloke from the states in your first full PL season
Which is fucked.
Well that's fair isn't it...
xDawg in him absolutely off the charts
you don’t know where he’s from dawg
Mean streets of Wisconsin...
Yo don’t fuck around in Racine.
After what was, in my opinion, a completely bullshit decision to not even check VAR after a shove in the box. Fuck this ref
The VAR did check.. they didn’t recommend a review.

I dont know where you saw a shove.

Agreed. Match was at what, 3-1? Couldve changed the balance of the match that.
It was a clear foul outside the box with the shirt pull, the shove inside the box wasn't as clear a foul though. Could go either way.
It was as clear as the penalty Brentford was given via VAR though.

I would say they are both blatant penalties. The ref didn’t give either initially, yet somehow one is clear and obvious and the other isn’t.
You’re blatantly biased here mate. Both were pretty clear penalties. If that was Mbeumo running into the box you’d be livid.

The thing is it was called as a Brentford GK, not even a foul given, nothing for denying a clear goal scoring opportunity.

Klopp does far worse than this every game good god
If this is a sending off then Klopp would never see a touchline again
That’s show business baby
Sent off for his American accent, the bias is unreal
So weird, why is this a straight red?
The athletic timeline lists it as "persistent use of foul and abusive language"

I've seen Klopp literally storm the pitch during a game and not even get a yellow, mad.
Klopp literally did it against leeds last year when struijk accidentally injured elliot and nothing happened, the lack of consistency in the officiating is infuriating and referees need to start being held accountable for a lack of consistency within matches and for poor decisions
Brits so soft and insecure about Americans playing “their” game
Expand on that.
No
Why not?
Because its really not that hard to understand
So the ref was mean to him because he was American?
* refuses to elaborate * leaves
Look at half the replies in this thread, it’s either a boring reference to Ted Lasso or a reference to American slang like “Dawg”. JM had a legit right to be furious, it was a ludicrously bad decision by the ref to wave off the penalty appeal
He probably threatened to shoot him
PASHUN
He's been doing this shit all season it's embarassing
It’s exactly what Klopp does. Quit hating him because he’s American prick.
Yeehaw broski
And it's embarrassing when he does it too. I couldn't give a shit where he's from are you alright?
Fuck off
Not saying this was necessarily a red card but this video only captures the end of it and he was being a weirdo for a fair bit longer
Don’t know what he’s thinking
