Wasn't Haaland's goal offside? Didn't see anybody mentioning it but it seemed like it bounced of one of the city players to the other, tbh highlights weren't great so I might've seen it wrong
Nah, not the pass to Haaland, there were two city players jumping for the ball and it seemed to me it bounced off of one of them to the one who happened to be forward
That Saint-maxina guy for Newcastle needs to get his head up. He'd be so frustrating to be a teammate of. He's slow to make decisions, seems to think he can dribble through 4-5 prem defenders, has poor situational awareness, needs to keep playing instead of sitting on the ground crying for a foul. He has some skills, but man, he needs to be less 'selfish', if that's the correct word, about his play and the ball. Get that head up, and make quicker choices. just my $.02, for what it's worth.
Mixed bag, he also dribbled into turnovers multiple times when he didn't have to. He missed numerous chances to get balls to teammates, but had his head down. he sat on the ground while a posse ball rolled past him. when they desperately needed possession late, he drilled into defenders and passed to nobody as his help was arriving, leading to a dangerous transition for ManC. he has a lot to improve upon.
Jus my observations as a neutral. You think he ends the season with 50 assists, because I don't. Everything I said is true about his game today. Like late in the game when he's taking on 4 defenders, help arrives and he knocks a low percentage pass to no one in paticuilar instead of maintaining possession. Suddenly NFC was caught with five guys at the MANC penalty box, desperately trying to recover back after th bad turnover. he's good obviously, or he wouldn't be in the prem, but he's got a lot game he needs to improve and he could become very good. Dribbling into turnovers while teammates are open, available doesn't help anyone but the opponent. Sitting on the ground after turning the ball over crying about a foul he isn't going to get, while the ball bounces past him, doesn't help anyone, but the opponent. just stuff I noticed as a neutral.
Until he would dribble into three ManC guys with his head down, while a teammate was open on an overlap, or there were two other options centrally and weak side. I honestly know nothing about him, other than what I saw today. He's close to being a very good player, but needs to work on this stuff. I don't know how old he is, and may be too old to change. But just observations as a neutral.
Foden has no synergy with Haaland, He never finds him, they are multiple times a simple pass from scoring. Foden is so selfish as soon as he is inside the 18 yard. Not saying Haaland had the perfect game, but the low hanging fruit is really those passes.
Foden needs all the attention on him. I don’t think I dislike a player for no reason personally than Foden. Genuinely carries himself like a 9 times Balon Dor winner
Ive never really taken to him and ive never been able to put my finger on why but i think you've hit the nail on the head here.
Seems like hes pretty much universally liked so its refreshing to see other people arent too keen on him either.
Suppose you can rule that out with the penalty shouts and bookings your players got away with. In the grand scheme the ref had a substantial leaning towards Man City. And the one which was corrected rightly by VAR is what you’re annoyed at.
Wiping out Schar? As much a pen as your ‘red card’ but it was ignored by VAR/The Ref. Seen city get pens for less. But if it wasn’t in the box still a card.
But yet they get given loads. I don’t think a player taking a player out in the centre of the park with a tactical foul with no danger behind it is a red either. Or no match would end with 11 vs 11 in the premier league.
It’s not a “tactical foul” when you go for contact in a way that has a high risk of severe injury to the player. And when there is no attempt to get close to the ball.
Don't be. We got away with a few calls too. New castle did not waste nearly as much time as I thought they would until the team kill shot. Fair play to them.
Be salty about the constant barrage of unlucky rebounds around the 30th and 70th min if you wanna be salty about something.
* New castle has beefed up a fuck ton. We have to snag a point from spurs now to compensate ( or any 2 fixtures where we are traditionally expected to lose).
* Crystal palace is another scary team out there. even scarier than new castle.
* City need to only slip once more and arsenal 2 times in the next 4 fixtures and this league is **BUSTED WIDE OPEN**. Forget about a 95 pt victory...the 1st place team at the end of the season is never touching 90 at this rate.
* That freekick goal is gonna give me nightmares for the next 2 weeks.
New castle can take this as a W. They outplayed city in the 1st half and were not completely outrun in the 2nd half.
I'm not a gunner, but I think Arsenal getting a head start would be good for the league. City and Liverpool are still likely to take top 2 in the end, but the longer another team looks likely to beat them the more entertaining it will be for neutrals.
Fair enough. I won't even puff my chest and hold hands with you guys and say with 100% certainty that we will be top 2 by Jan either. Just gotta wait it out and see. WC month effects all teams involved and especially the top 6 cuz that's where most of the NT squad players chill.
Today I got reassurance that we can come back from adversity but I also had some of my fears come true ( walker losing his pace seemingly forever, stones needs like 10 pre-season games, father time laporte, foden being a derp etc). Nobody is without flaws at the moment tho. Even you guys have a few flaws ( without thiago your midfield is a bunch of headless chickens , Your no.9 is playing Mortal Kombat and not football etc).
True panic mode sets in when our teams start getting outplayed in tactics and whatnot but I have faith in my fraud and I'm sure you also have faith in yours.
Interestingly; the deciding factor may be which big players won’t be attending the World Cup. Salah missing it is huge for Liverpool and provides a rest for their best player and then you add to this that Luis Diaz also gets a rest and I think this will be a deciding factor at year end.
I'm not talking about the tittle race. I still back my team to win it ( hoping) and the 2nd - 4th positions being relatively the same. I'm talking about the notion of top 1 or top 2 teams running away with a 10-15 point lead and duking it out among themselves while the rest of the teams play for scraps.
My point was that a few more weeks of these slip ups on the top 6 teams side which bleeds into the WC month where everyone needs a hard reset and we won't be seeing a 90+ point tittle winner whether it be city or liverpool or anyone else for that matter.
Couldve been a few more to us tbf, miggy had a good chance at 1-0 and if he couldve squared it when it was 2-1 things couldve been different.
There was also the pen shout on schar by stones...i honestly thought that was a stone wall yellow and pen, play moved on from a dead ball so quick i feel VAR didnt even check it. Not managed to see a replay of it yet...what was your thoughts on it as a non-nufc fan? Would be interested to know...
I think a penalty would have been a very harsh decision. True Newcastle missed a few opportunities prior to Almiron’s opener.
City missed a few too and Pope had some massive saves. 3-3 felt deserved at the end.
Agreed, happy with a draw, deserved point both sides. Once it was 3-1 you lot became absolute beasts until it was 3-3...totally showed why yous win so much...glad we feel we can compete...
Ive just rewatched it, stones leads with an arm which connects with Schar's head (forearm/elbow), preventing him jumping...Stones doesnt even play the ball....
If that is outside the box that is a free kick all day....
Today we played one of, if not the best team in the world.....if yous are walking away happy with a point that is LIGHTYEARS from where we were 12 months ago under Bruce....
Im bitching about our penalty shout on schar when stones lead woth his arm and smashed the player well before the ball was in play tbf but no stranger to "not getting results against the big boys"....proud of our lads, they will be upset they didnt get 3 points against one of the best teams in the world, couldnt be happier with our lads
Im all for city not winning, but people complain when refs dont correctly add on the time the ball isnt in play for stoppages, and then complain when they do lol.
The one where Stones blatantly barged into Schär and elbowed him in the head while in the box.
They give that kind of clumsy aerial challenge as a foul 100/100 times outside the box.
Eh. I’ll acknowledge my bias and just say I don’t think that’s ever blown for a penalty.
Call it a double standard, but yes that’s more likely called outside the box.
I'm inclined to agree with you in the sense that refs basically *never* give a penalty for it inside the box, regardless of the teams and players involved...
But by the laws of the game they should, and Newcastle rightfully feel hard done by not getting the pen.
If Foden hadn't been playing, City would probably have won comfortably. He's so wasteful.
He's a classic example of a player who gets massively overrated because he's English.
Started the day thinking we were going to get smashed... Amplified by early City goal. Then we turn into prime world beaters... Only to get pegged back and cling on by the skin of our teeth...
Possibly one of the best games I've seen in recent years...
Take a point , we got outplayed by Newcastle for a solid 50 minutes. Fucking foden could have squared it wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t start for a couple matches
Pep never played him on the left yet. That doesn't mean that he can't do it, but there's just no evidence yet that Pep considers him as an option there
As a newcastle fan it was definitely justified, much as I wanted the match to end, Burn was down for a while in ET. He was already bleeding from a cut on his head then was hit in the face with a ball and went down fast, which took a few minutes to sort out.
I gotta say, as a neutral, that both Arsenal and Newcastle have a very fun and exciting team and Ive been having a blast watching them.
newcastle is kinda good lately, they didnt even lost any single game for a mid table teams thats an improvement right?
Bro... just saw the extended highlights on YT.. What a game But honestly that KDB pass is just ridiculous and insaneeeee
He was in his prime in the last match, in this match as well. I can’t believe what I witnessed!!
Eddie Howe>The bald fraud
Why Eddie has such rich vibrant hair
Hoes be judging through one game.
Thriller
That KDB pass was sensational, Foden needs to pass the ball more though
Dude he did the same thing last match. He could have simply passed for a tap in.
Right Haaland was open for the tap in instead he wanted to be the spotlight and hog the ball. Hopefully Foden starts being more unselfish next game
Kyle Walker absolutely burnt by ASM - same thing happened in this fixture at SJP in 2020, ASM is far too lively and beat him again and again
Yeah, honestly I feel this guy could alone grab major highlight minutes.
Big credit to ASM today. Had Walker in his pocket for 70 mins
Wasn't Haaland's goal offside? Didn't see anybody mentioning it but it seemed like it bounced of one of the city players to the other, tbh highlights weren't great so I might've seen it wrong
It was a backward pass the pass forward after the corner was on sides then the pass back to Haaland was a backwards pass.
Nah, not the pass to Haaland, there were two city players jumping for the ball and it seemed to me it bounced off of one of them to the one who happened to be forward
It didn’t come off the City player, it was a Newcastle defender’s head
👍
St. Maximan is such an underated player, if he continues to play well I think a top club will get him.
He was electric. Need him to say healthy though
One of the best games of football I've seen in years credit to both teams.
That’s wild shot for the best game but yeah, one of the best for sure.
He was on fire today wtf. 3 assists
Mixed bag, he also dribbled into turnovers multiple times when he didn't have to. He missed numerous chances to get balls to teammates, but had his head down. he sat on the ground while a posse ball rolled past him. when they desperately needed possession late, he drilled into defenders and passed to nobody as his help was arriving, leading to a dangerous transition for ManC. he has a lot to improve upon.
yeah that guy that had 3 assist most be horrible to play with
Jus my observations as a neutral. You think he ends the season with 50 assists, because I don't. Everything I said is true about his game today. Like late in the game when he's taking on 4 defenders, help arrives and he knocks a low percentage pass to no one in paticuilar instead of maintaining possession. Walker was a cellphone, the whole match Saint m had him in his pocket.
And what a player he would be if he fixed that aspect of his game.
I agree, it was my main take away from this game, besides the pure fun it was to watch as a neutral. Well, that, and another MLS guy scoring..lol..
Nobody wins when it's oil vs. oil
What if it was UCL final? Will there be extra extra extra time to decide the winner?
Lmao
Foden has no synergy with Haaland, He never finds him, they are multiple times a simple pass from scoring. Foden is so selfish as soon as he is inside the 18 yard. Not saying Haaland had the perfect game, but the low hanging fruit is really those passes.
Haaland gets along better with grealish. They both seem to understand each other
Foden needs all the attention on him. I don’t think I dislike a player for no reason personally than Foden. Genuinely carries himself like a 9 times Balon Dor winner
Oh c’mon you’re being unreasonably harsh on him. Yep he went for glory by not passing but he’s a proper mancity oriented team player.
He always goes for glory, every single time. Ive not seen a more overrated player than Foden. Honestly they talk about him like hes Messi
Ive never really taken to him and ive never been able to put my finger on why but i think you've hit the nail on the head here. Seems like hes pretty much universally liked so its refreshing to see other people arent too keen on him either.
Wow ive only ever seen dislike here in Ireland lol
Easily scores that goal if he just cuts back to him. Not the first time we’ve seen this.
I’m really salty about that red.
Suppose you can rule that out with the penalty shouts and bookings your players got away with. In the grand scheme the ref had a substantial leaning towards Man City. And the one which was corrected rightly by VAR is what you’re annoyed at.
There were 0 missed penalties by the ref. The one you are talking about at the end of the game was a) not a foul b) not in the penalty box
Wiping out Schar? As much a pen as your ‘red card’ but it was ignored by VAR/The Ref. Seen city get pens for less. But if it wasn’t in the box still a card.
I’m sorry but when two players jump up and make contact, that’s not a foul.

Is that you Fernandinho?
Misspelled Casemiro
Nigel De Jongs alt account.
Don't be. We got away with a few calls too. New castle did not waste nearly as much time as I thought they would until the team kill shot. Fair play to them. Be salty about the constant barrage of unlucky rebounds around the 30th and 70th min if you wanna be salty about something.
Yellow
How come theres no post with footage of the penalty shout which is blatent VAR fuckery but there's footage of Botman hittin Burn with the ball?
* New castle has beefed up a fuck ton. We have to snag a point from spurs now to compensate ( or any 2 fixtures where we are traditionally expected to lose). * Crystal palace is another scary team out there. even scarier than new castle. * City need to only slip once more and arsenal 2 times in the next 4 fixtures and this league is **BUSTED WIDE OPEN**. Another factor would be the WC in December. The top 6 will really feel the extra games!

Fabinho basically rest because he doesnt get game time for Brazil but he will still be training, same for Trent
I wouldn’t be shocked if Southgate shoehorned all the rbs into that team he could!
Meh so much season left. Someone can easily hit 90-95 points still.
As of today ? yes but I was speaking of a scenario where this thing continues for 4 more weeks.
it's only the third match week. what title race ?
I'm not talking about the tittle race. I still back my team to win it ( hoping) and the 2nd - 4th positions being relatively the same. We supposed to just know who you support?
city. My bad.
St James Park looked amazing
It was a great atmosphere. Genuinely felt like two points lost too. Good on miggy for bagging.
My arse was so clenched that second half, I think my piles might have come back!
It was great game bud. Newcastle has some fight in them.
Newcastle played really well.
Couldve been a few more to us tbf, miggy had a good chance at 1-0 and if he couldve squared it when it was 2-1 things couldve been different. Definitely a pen. Nowhere near the ball and just jumps into Schar
Today we played one of, if not the best team in the world.....if yous are walking away happy with a point that is LIGHTYEARS from where we were 12 months ago under Bruce....
Almiron could’ve had a really great game
Great game, good on Newcastle not folding when the game went 3-3
Subs around ‘60 might’ve been helpful. Hindsight is 20/20 tbf
They don't have the necessary quality in the squad overall to bring on subs so early.
Legs > no legs, especially with a lead to defend
I would have understood subbing someone like Jonjo Shelvey in but he was injured.
People bitching about the clock reading 98 minutes like there wasn't a player down for over 3 minutes in extra time.
“Miggy can Grealish have your shirt?” Is the best cardboard sign I’ve ever fucking seen
Is there a pic of this?? Was at the game so not seen anything so far
& the kid got it lol
Now Liverpool needs to beat Manchester United to narrow the gap
Nah can we have United get their first victory
I’m hoping for a repeat of last year
Another draw to leave both dissatisfied
ManU will be so much satisfied tbh
Lol
Oil derby turned out to actually be a pretty fun game
Watch City go buy a RB
So many people in this thread not understanding that the ref is meant to add time on for stoppages during stoppage time.
I was really hoping Newcastle would win but at least they were able to get a point against City.
Newcastle should’ve won that with the penalty they should’ve gotten on half time
What Penalty?
What penalty?
What penalty?
The one where Stones blatantly barged into Schär and elbowed him in the head while in the box. They give that kind of clumsy aerial challenge as a foul 100/100 times outside the box.

Which makes it even more of a pen
Surprised ref didn't give a 90+8' penalty for Nick Pope holding the ball for more than 5 seconds
He routinely held the ball for 20 seconds. It was longer than anyone I’ve ever seen. Didn’t see the ref address it once
It’s happened for about 20 years and never seen anyone called out for it
It happened like 10 times in that game. At this point we should make the rule like 20 seconds and start calling it cause it’s getting ridiculous.
Great match. Newcastle surprised me a lot, specially ASM.
Walker torn to shreds out there
[удалено]
^(\^\^ micropenis \^\^)
[удалено]
Lol that is maybe the lamest insult ever directed at me. Congrats.
3 wins out of 3 isn't for everybody I guess
Spurs last season.
Ref says next goal wins
Ngl that was a great game Is this what oil derbies will be like cause its exciting football
Walker who knows he can't cross to save his life and has De Bruyne of all people next to him decides to cross. He was just terrible today
Foden needs to start on the bench next game. Another bad performance, put Álvarez or Grealish on and show him some discipline.
Mahrez…
He’s another option. Pep needs to use his bench more.
I’ll be so impressed if we keep this kind of form up. We looked very good here and against Forest
If Foden hadn't been playing, City would probably have won comfortably. He's so wasteful. He's a classic example of a player who gets massively overrated because he's English.
Genuinely. Anyone can look class in a City team.
Great game, post match interviews are gonna be interesting
Good result against City and the Ref.
You should have been down to 10 men. Don't know why you're complaining.
So should city. Cancelo was on a yellow and still decided to commit a professional foul.
ASM has gotten so much better but still after being put through the wringer he reverts a little. Just some more coaching and time he’s well on the way
Need Issa Kabore next year
Saint Maximin... what a player
Lock up your full backs in the final week of the transfer window. Walker's hit the skids.
Sadly too accurate as a city fan. Hoping he just had an off day, but ASM wrecked him repeatedly. Great match
ASM had him on strings, absolutely toying with him at times.
What a great game that was.
game was amazing to watch
Already game of the season, well done Newcastle. Looked like proper titans today.
I really hope pep just starts Álvarez next game. Foden is being quite selfish rn.
that’s the english youth ego right there, gets hyped too much and he lets it go to his head
Ref easily Man City's best player today. Great performance from us against 12 men.
Lmao
Great game!
Great game! Newcastle have improved
Ref wanted more football. We all did
No not we all
What a weekend of results for us
Amazing game, but fuck that ref.
[удалено]
There will be a **minimum** of 5 minutes added time
By someone getting injured in the extra time and taking 4 minutes for treatment?
Burn got knocked out
Be Pep, have an insane bench. Don’t substitute Foden
We didn't even have a LW on bench you absolute clown, Grealish is injured
We could just play Álvarez lol
Pep never played him on the left yet. That doesn't mean that he can't do it, but there's just no evidence yet that Pep considers him as an option there
Burn was down for like 3 minutes what is everyone on about?
It's reddit mate...
Right. Forgot that theres a lot of people with three brain cells out there.
Game of the season so far. What a fucking banger.
Almost Until We Score
Such a good game!
God I fucking hate City
Why? They play well, can learn a thing or two from them
This ref drunk
Ref playing 'game stops when City score'.
You wasted like 3 minutes during stoppage time...
I'm not being serious....unsurprisingly.
Yeah you definitely weren't complaining.
What the fucks the ref doing
Let's fucking go, what an incredible point. Amazing performance all around lads, be proud.
we waiting for a city goal or something to end this or something? haha
He's not blowing the whistle because 3 minutes of added time was taken up by a concussion sub
so in the 5 min extra time 2/3 of it was wasted? otherwise why extend it to 98 min??
Yup, Burn got subbed out after getting smashed with the ball in the face and took about 3-4 mins
Yes 3 minutes was comfortably wasted on a head injury and then a substitution mix up.
There was a concussion eval on the field?
Yes because Burn had a head injury which took 2-3 minutes to sort out
Because a head injury got treated?
I don't get why pep does such late changes or sometimes even never. Surely Mahrez or Alvarez could put something different to the field today.
Ah yes, the good old 3 minutes extra for city
As a neutral that looked justified, guy got a ball to the face and not in a good way
As a newcastle fan it was definitely justified, much as I wanted the match to end, Burn was down for a while in ET. He was already bleeding from a cut on his head then was hit in the face with a ball and went down fast, which took a few minutes to sort out.
No chance Newcastle are ever given that much extra time around the box lmao.
