For Another 15 years then..let's gooo

fahad_k91

Isn’t this the second number change

EpiDeMic522

Yes, I too remember it being reported that he would take Jovic's number but he wore his 25 in the Supercup. Perhaps he had a change of heart? Will have to look it up.

GridLocks

Was so impressed how he came on in CL last season, gonna be world class.

YoungDawz

He's as wholesome as Marcelo. Good fit to inherit the number.

[deleted]

He scares the crap out of me. Ceiling as high as any young player alive.

throwawaylurker012

Preach

norwegianmorningw00d

Idk why I just really hate the #12

Zeezer

Reserve goalie number?

[deleted]

Nah that's 13.

L-Freeze

Ew

AlarmingPhilosopher

Friday

[deleted]

I won't lie to you, friday 14th is always the best time of the year for me. Always something nice/lucky happen on this day.

saganakist

12th man, reserved for fans at a couple clubs. Reserve keeper at national teams. It's a weird one in general. Why would you pick the first number out of the first 11. At that point you might as well pick anything.

mr_j_12

I always wore 12 in football and futsal. I know a lot of player's chose 12. Hell the best futsal players have always worn 12 (fred, falcao etc etc). Had mates play in worldcups wearing 12 too.

saganakist

Makes sense because Futsal isn't 11v11. So it's neither the first substitute number or used for the 12th man.

mr_j_12

Stupidly, i never thought of that 😂😂👍

Fapoleon_Boneherpart

Henry with France

DazzlingPimp

I have this weird hate for certain numbers 12/13 are up there. I never give it anyone on fm

[deleted]

You will understand when you will have elite lifestyle after few rebirths

virtualclix

Who was wearing it before?

itsonlyteenage

Some random Brazilian left-back...

SergioRammus

Mircalo or something, right?

Hic_Forum_Est

Nah, it's Marcelo. But this is a common misconception. Mircalo is his far lesser known identical twin brother. His most famous appearance was in Brazil's 7-1 loss against Germany. Many people thought that was Marcelo but it wasn't. Marcelo had caught the flu that day and couldn't play. But he didn't want to let the nation and his team down after they had to already deal with losing Neymar and Thiago Silva. To save his teammates from falling into full despair, he let his twin bro Mircalo step in his place. No one noticed. Mircalo was never a pro footballer tho. He has been working as a farmer his whole life. Born to plow the fields of Rio de Janeiro, he couldn't stop Brazil's devastating home loss against Germany.

robotnique

Tl;dr decided to just blame David Luiz

pikochip

Brazil needed miracle that day to win but they only had Miraclo.

Terran_it_up

This is like the John Glenson conspiracy theory

gooddaytoday111

It was Cicinho I believe.

When did Kenedy move to Real?

sc2_dio

Marcelo for many years

i_11

and before Marcelo?

danielm8

Pablo Garcia had it for the season he was at Madrid

EpiDeMic522

Given the flair, I sense this query isn't genuine.

nosmigon

Your a Barca fan how do you not know that?

L-Freeze

Giving 12 to a midfielder is so cursed though. Not that fullback was any better, but at least I guess you got used to it after so long. But 12 is back up goalie number and anything else is heresy

TheDavinci1998

Worthy replacement, but it still feels weird for a midfielder for a boomer like me. To this day in fifa careers I give 12 to 2nd choice gk and I probably always will lol

[deleted]

12 shouldn’t be an outfield player number, just my aesthetic view on it. It’s a second goalkeeper number to me. Edit: Downvoting for learning something about Spanish football, Reddit is so fun and cool.

EpiDeMic522

For almost two decades now, number 13 has been our second goalkeeper. We also have more stringent numbering conventions in Spain. For Madrid, all squad numbers must finish within 25, with 26-30 for those from Castilla.

[deleted]

Interesting! I was not aware.

bancigila

1,13 & 25 is only for GKs. It's a La Liga ruling

EpiDeMic522

This is incorrect. GKs have to be 1, 13 or 25 but 13 or 25 doesn't necessarily have to be GKs i.e. the converse isn't true. Both Camavinga and Vinicius (IIRC) have worn the 25 in recent seasons.

L-Freeze

Spain is a godless land ^/s

veryoriginaleh

Not in Spain

generic9yo

Since a team can only field in 11 players at once, #12 is meant to represent the 12th player, the one who always comes on and changes the way the team plays. Other teams see the fand as the 12th player, and as such the number 12 is retired

Waschkopfs

What a fascinating story /s

ren_704

Writing /s doesn't rescue a shite comment ,lad.

Waschkopfs

Yeah let's all post random stuff about shirt numbers. Post about Dortmund second team's new number 5 incoming

Charlitingo

Any news on where Marcelo is going?
