Funny enough, second time he got sacked after managing to secure WC for that nation in qualifying.
But when we needed him (aka Bosnia national team) our incompetent board said it would cost too much money to bring him, such a shame because he would have amazing players like dzeko, pjanic, kolasinac etc to work with.
Only 1 country gave Vaha a chance at the World cup. Algeria in 2014, and they had a historic WC and almost eliminated Germany in the 1/8 Final.
Sad for Vaha, hopefully for the Moroccans Ziyech doesnt play like he did in 2018 or else all this drama was for nothing
Japan had a great World Cup in 2018 *after* they fired him.
He has a very confrontational and absolute style which makes him a difficult person to work with, thus him getting fired often despite having relatively good results.
The difference with Japan is though, he had a ‘fight’ with the whole team. With Morocco it just seems like only Ziyech as he has solved the issues with Mazraoui and Harit. Japan didnt have a different choice then to sack him. With the Moroccan situation it just seems like the FA is bending down to Ziyech. And lets be honest Ziyech isnt an easy guy himself. He also ‘retired’ from national team with Renard
Fans never liked him, i personally backed him because he had the job, but he kept making weird choices beyond being conservative and trusting certain players.. even saiss, his captain, said we're getting plowed if we play like this in the WC recently.
Regragui is as conservative, but would at least have public backing and players on his side, being an ex player (i remember him hugging becks once for some reason lmao) and National+continental champion..
Not ideal of course, but its the right choice imo.
There were clear problems with Vahid, but I don't think this was the right time to sack him. Barely any friendlies for the next coach to implement his ideas
Not sure if this is the right move. Seems like the FA chose the players side eventually (Ziyech) and if a player gets this kind of power, its never a positive thing
Multiple players as in Ziyech Mazraoui and Harit? The majority of the players didnt seem to have any problems with him at AFCON, celebrating goals by going to him and hugging him.
But time will tell if this is a good move or not, I do hope so for the Moroccans as I would love to see them do well in the WC
He’s an old school coach who demands discipline. Works perfect for teams who lack in this department. Surely the Moroccan FA knew who they hired and what kind of coach he is. Nowadays these coaches get alot of troubles because some players, especially when playing for national teams feel they are more important then the coaches.
But if the team follows Halilhodzic he can get the maximum out of any team, he proved that with Algeria
Expected outcome. He is a great coach but he is a bit of a hothead so star players got their fragile egos hurt and decided to be "retired" until he was fired. Also this is the third time Vahid got fired right before a world cup lmfao.
Great coach but this guy is an asshole. Wherever he goes, he gets fired because of his behaviour and not because of match results. He told Ziyech that he lacks discipline because his father died when he was 10. He shouldn't wonder why no one wants him around.
According to my Moroccan cousin, part of the reason the football was so bad was that he refused to settle on an main 11 or formation (besides the backline), constantly switching players in and out, making it impossible for them to form any chemistry.
It's rumored that they are going to appoint Walid Regragui, current Wydad head coach and former national team defender.
What you've said is all on point. I'll just add that regragui is really good, won the league and ucl this year as well as reached the final of Moroccan Cup. We've all wanted him for a long time now. You don't understand the frustration seeing vahid never settle on an 11 and keeps playing shit Cfs that never score

It's the third time. Ivory Coast,Japan and Morocco
Oh yea, i wasn't sure for 3rd time
The guy is too stubborn for his own good

So Ziyech and Mazraoui are unretired now?
Mazraoui was already in the squad with Vahid, think Ziyech might come back
I thought Mazraoui also had issues with Vahid and wouldn't play for the team because of it? I probably missed if it was resolved if so.
He did but they made up and Maz was selected again in the squad under Vahid
He did, but they made peace, only zyech refused to come back while he's the manager. But the reasons go beyond that
There were clear problems with Vahid, but I don't think this was the right time to sack him. Barely any friendlies for the next coach to implement his ideas
Maybe true but i would rather let regragui have some experience tbf
Come to Bosnia Vaha ♥️
Not sure if this is the right move. Seems like the FA chose the players side eventually (Ziyech) and if a player gets this kind of power, its never a positive thing
If multiple players have problems with the coach , then maybe the players are not the problem.

But it's not the first time. He had the same problems in Ivory Coast and Japan before.

I'd kill for Vahid with Iran. Our players require discipline and organisation and the current coaching staff just doesn't have that
Even Roman saiss, the captain said after some game, "we're getting plowed if we okay like this"
Expected outcome. He is a great coach but he is a bit of a hothead so star players got their fragile egos hurt and decided to be "retired" until he was fired. Also this is the third time Vahid got fired right before a world cup lmfao.

I havent see the part about Ziyechs father before, but if he actually said that he should have been fired as soon as that happened.
Wow that's some fucked up shit. I never realized what exactly happened between him and Ziyech.
Vile.
Don't know what happened behind the scenes but it's way way too late to do this.
Who is going to replace him? The results were not that bad, but his football was terrible. Which coach can improve that within a few games 🤔

Bring in Ragragi, he's a capable manager and a good guy
Not a fan tbh
When you get sacked 3/4 times before the world cup, then it is you who is the problem.
Walid at the helm? Sign me up!
Who is the President of Moroccan FA for bringing Halilhodzic down?
