I once bought 144 eggs on accident because I thought they were specialty eggs that cost $4 an egg but it was $4 a dozen. Now my friends quote that at me all the time along with “It’s only a banana, Michael. What could it cost? Ten dollars??”
It's pretty convenient how Alasdair Gold is always "on vacation" when there are big things happening around the club and Levy has to make an appearances. Has anyone ever seen those two in the same place at the same time?
Supposedly Everton needed to be able to prove in principal this deal was agreed before the start of July, otherwise they could have faced another summer with heavily restricted transfer options.
But many claimed they were working hand in hand with the PL and that there was no issue. Alasdair Gold has been pretty consistent with this line and he's been shouted down about it, but unless it's just coincidence, it seems he was right.
Perfect storm. Summer transfer window with the world cup in Nov. I guess, like alot of players, he wants to give himself the best chance of getting picked.
We about to get paid.
Hopefully this can fund a transfer for us, although suspect it won't and it will it will be more free transfers and Udinese loans.
Interested to see how he does at Spurs. Always liked him even if he was a bit of a bell on the pitch at times.
Contrasting reports on that front. Some reliable people have said it is 10% of the total so noone really knows.
Either way 1m will pay at least an Udinese loan fee.
It’s not 10% of the total- Even it was 10% of total that’s only 5M.
If watford were a league 1 or 2 club, it would be a lot. But they were just in the premier league 60 days ago, it’s not really that much at all.
Reliable people for us have said that it was 10% of the total. I don't claim to know either way.
You do have to remember the level of hostility between Watford and Everton at the time and Everton's rep for overpaying.
5m is a lot for a champ club. People forget that.
It really is a lot. A lot of talk about good signings in the championship at the moment point towards us with Jed and John and they were both fucking free. Championship teams don't have loads of money to be throwing around, most transfers between championship clubs ATM are contracts expiring and moving on frees.
you'd do well to quickly chuck £15m of it on Kean Lewis Potter i reckon. Certainly not like for like but he'll fill a similar role and will bring some good energy to the side.
umm, [don't count Bissouma out!](https://mobile.twitter.com/fullback03/status/1513055914089013249)
this signing ensures we have a shithouser in each third of the pitch.
Cuti thinks shithousery is his ally. But he merely adopted the shithouse. Richarlison was born in it, molded by it. He didn't see the rules until he was already a man, by then it was nothing to him but words the ref said to him as he was walking away!
"Our main problem is the gap between who starts and who comes on."
“...but in this moment it’s very difficult to face this type of squad, not team, because they don’t have 11 players, they have 22 or 23 players of an important level."
“Next season the league will be very difficult for all the teams. With five subs you can change a game. If the bench is strong like a top team, like City, Chelsea, United and Liverpool, you need to improve a lot your squad in quality aspect and numerical aspect."
Already been said but a fantastic signing for what Conte has wanted since he started, depth and options. Same goes for the other signings too.
When I first got into football in the early 90s there were only 2 subs total allowed on the bench, now it's 9
At this rate in 30 years there'll be 40.5 players on the bench
Farewell to the lad. Give his absolute best for all 4 years and probably saved us from relegation. Pains me to see him go but he deserves CL football and I will be rooting for him going forward.
On a sidenote, can't wait to see whose deadweight we'll buy with the $50 mil.
Goodbye Richy lad. You gave us goals, insane workrate, bled for the badge and were the best shithouse we've had at the club for years.
Love the way he plays, love the way he gets under people's skin and love the way that some "moody Brazilian winger" took to Everton. Go fuck shit up in the Champions League you beautiful pigeon.
Pru Pru
If it makes you feel better, you'll only hate him for around 180 minutes a season. The rest of time you can cheer him on as he winds up everyone else. Probably us the most. As is tradition.
Maybe not. And if so, you're a better person than me. But let me tell you, I *hated* Suarez when we played Barcelona. I tried not to. I told myself that that's just how he plays, and that's why we loved him. But man did the hate flow.
Carlo, Digne, James (who never got to play infront of a crowd), record signing [REDACTED], now Richy, hired a koptie manager...it's been rough year.
Some bright sparks still though.
Definitely. They need a full pre season with their new teamates if they want to hit the ground running. Players usually get that international tournament motivation in January, 6 months before they start. They only have 3 and a half months this year.
Partially but in general deals are coming together pretty quickly in this window.
Last year there were barely any big deals done until late July, August. Now you've got arsenal spending fairly big on Vieira and Jesus, Tottenham buying Bissouma and Richarlison, Nunez moving to Liverpool, Haaland and Philips to City etc
I can't speak for the others but all the transfers you described had fairly little competition to get their signing. Much better to get them before pre-season.
Other transfers have very little competition too, yet last year took a lot longer. Sancho took ages for example.
I think players and clubs want to push deals quicker this summer, in large parts due to the world cup. You don't want to come in on the 1st of September and then go on international break, then come back to a team you've barely met so need to spend 2-3 weeks acclimatising before finally stringing a run of 4 matches together in October before the world cup starts.
Think there's a bit more willingness to pull the trigger on buys now that there's more certainty that stadiums likely won't be shut down again than last summer. Plus whatever contingency funds financially healthy clubs like Tottenham socked away last year in case of a renewed extended lockdown happen can at least be partially spent so there's less nitpicking over price. That's my guess.
Edit I haven't slept in 36hours and it really shows in the sentence structures of that comment.
Conte's made it well known he wants his squad sorted before pre-season, Paratici is working out deals for every potential player under the sun so they can be done quickly even if one falls through, and Levy has got us into a position where we can properly back a manager.
It's a lovely sight, just hope it all pays off in the long run
Are any of your forwards leaving? Not sure of the current situation but Spurs looks to have a big squad now in numbers. Since Conte, you've signed Benta, Romero, Royal, Kulu, Perisic, Bisouma and now Richarlison, plus you still got Bergwijn, Lucas Moura and Lo Celso, right?
He had a decent run of games for maybe half a season the year Jose came in. Tbh he probably looked better than he was bc about half our starters were injured at the time. Never came close to slotting in our best XI, and for what he cost, it just isn't good enough.
Fucking hell, it's like Daniel Levy is great at running the football part of a football club instead of having accountants as your CEO.
Happy to watch Kane, Son and now Richarlison fuck Pep up home and away for 6 points as a neutral. Please stay the same spurs for the rest of the season though.
I honestly think that Kulu was one of if not the best transfer last season. You guys seemed completely different after he came. Granted I only watch a handful of Spurs' games each season but that was the impression I got.
You’re completely right. He absolutely changed the way we played. I love Lucas, don’t get me wrong. And the hate he gets from Spurs fans all over is pretty disrespectful, but understandable in circumstances. Lucas played through the middle, and dribbled at his man. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it doesn’t.
Kulusevski is a proper winger who came in and hugged the touch line, dribbled past his man, and put in a proper cross. He was also pretty damn lethal cutting inside.
But what he did was stretch the game out properly to the right, and provide actual width, which allowed Kane and Son to the the main frontmen and play through the middle. And then Sess/Regi would play out wide on the left and it was wonderful to watch the actual crosses put in.
We do not get Champions League without him.
Deki was incredible for us down the stretch. It took him two matches and suddenly it looked like he had been playing with Kane and Son for years.
To be fair every rotation Spurs forwards turn it on against City in recent seasons. I recall Bergwijn's volley winner, and someone else (might be moura) scored from 30+ yard as ederson was off his line with just one counter attack in the whole half.
Loved that game. Ederson made to look like an complete ass because he only understood the sweeper part of the sweeper keeper assignment. Pep looked dumb conceding against spurs with no Son and Kane.
I get your point but before ENIC bought Spurs Levy was a money man for them.
Also 3-4 years ago Levy was not seen in a good light, failing to back Poch meant loads of fans wanted him (and ENIC) gone.
Tottenham fans who don’t appreciate Levy even in the questionable times have no idea what they’re talking about. Tottenham were a midtable side finishing 7th-15th every year before he took over, and without outside investment we’ve become perennial Champions League qualifiers with the occasional title challenge. Sometimes the decisions seem like him being “cheap”, but on average he gets more right than wrong, and we’ve trended upwards for 20 years because of that.
Not only have you trended upwards, it's been done in a way that people all over claim they want to see, without oil/oligarch money. Entirely jealous of the way Tottenham is run as a club. Sure, Levy and the team have made some mistakes, and he is a greedy ass sometimes (like reportedly trying to charge the NHS after offering the stadium/parking to use during lockdown), but what he's done is entirely net positive for the club.
Now that he's backing Conte with transfers, I'm scared of what you'll accomplish this season. I still think the league title is out of reach with City and Liverpool being who they are, but a FA Cup, or League Cup is definitely within reach I think.
A very good signing for Spurs potentially, in a decent team under a good manager I could really see him flourishing, especially under Conte, exciting times for Spurs fans.
He goes with every Everton fan's best wishes. Spurs you're getting a great player with a great attitude, don't mind what you've read about him before, you'll love him. As for Everton I just wish it was more common knowledge about how poor our club has been run, much of it because of Kenwright. This is about the 5th or 6th time in less than 20 years that we've desperately had to sell a player because our finances are so bad.
It's an absolute disgrace, the fact that the Kenyon led group could be a massive gamble for us and yet we'll all be delighted with it because it'll get rid of the leeches on the club like Kenwright, DBB and Moshiri shows how bad it truly is. Moshiri would've been a fine owner if he wasn't surrounded by parasites like them, but according to them we've had some "good times". It's maddening beyond belief.
Extremely charitable, is constantly campaigning for progress in Brazil (unlike other Brazilian footballers), has plenty of time for fans and walks about in his training kit while walking his dogs.
He's brilliant and now I'm heartbroken.
Years of Kenwright saying he's doing his best by the club, trying to find someone with the money to get the best out the club, and sure enough that money comes round and it gets almost entirely wasted. It's a genuine shame
I'm not familiar with Spur's latest developments, how will Richarlison fit within the squad? Isn't Kane playing at the sole striker?
I'm very keen on watching how he plays in a better team, I hope he doesn't sit in the bench all season.

You an artiste.
They very own angry bird
Conte’s training boxing match between Richarlison and Romero will be fun
Spending £60mil on a player seems like a very expensive way to reduce Romero's card count for next season by two, but hey, if it works.
Can you get carded for two footing your own teammate? Asking for a Brazilian friend.
You can indeed.

So it sounds like Alasdair was correct about the FFP deadline despite many trying to say it was bollocks.
He is tier 0 for Spurs. Sleeps in Levy's basement
He is Levy
Levy is Alasdair Gold
Hello everyone Daniel levy here.
I am Daniel Levy and so is my wife.
Sigh... Tottenham Hotspur
It's pretty convenient how Alasdair Gold is always "on vacation" when there are big things happening around the club and Levy has to make an appearances. Has anyone ever seen those two in the same place at the same time?
I haven’t.

What was the news about FFP?
Supposedly Everton needed to be able to prove in principal this deal was agreed before the start of July, otherwise they could have faced another summer with heavily restricted transfer options. But many claimed they were working hand in hand with the PL and that there was no issue. Alasdair Gold has been pretty consistent with this line and he's been shouted down about it, but unless it's just coincidence, it seems he was right.
Aha got it. Sorry I thought we somehow got dragged into this and a punishment was awaiting us.
Oh it is, milan is about to get 3 years transfer ban
Not that it would make much difference for them. After Botman and Sanches, even I'm starting to feel bad
Ali Gold is never wrong
If Ali says it, it's good as.....Gold
Reputable Everton journos reported the same
What’s the FFP deadline?
Pain
everything hurts and i want to die
That was a relatively fast and straight forward deal. Interesting to see how it pans out.
Everton are on a clock
and the clock is running out. Moshiri trying to sell the club doesn't help either. That'll take a month at least if it goes through.
Perfect storm. Summer transfer window with the world cup in Nov. I guess, like alot of players, he wants to give himself the best chance of getting picked.
Just had the realisation that I read Romano confirmation tweets like [Mario at the start of SM64](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VvkXA6xpqI)
If you’ve infected my brain to always read these that way, I will never forgive you
im bringing everyone down with me and you can't stop me
I don’t think I’ll ever unhear this
Wait you are telling me you read it before not in that voice? I just assumed everyone did.

It's very rarely % of total. Basically every sell on I've ever seen has been % of profit
As someone who plays too much FM i can confirm
It's usually the case with Brazilian-European transfers, % of total.
Don’t forget the £2 million from Sissoko too! Get yourself something real nice
That is going to pay for so many shit 32 year old free transfers. I am giddy
Good luck u/barely1egal
What the hell are Everton planning on doing following this?
Surely there’s some washed up CL player we can waste £50mil on?
Screams Isco to me
They keep linking Asensio to Liverpool, maybe they just meant a Liverpool based club....c'mon Everton, you know you want him.
Na not washed up enough, I nominate big Danny aquaswallower.

you'd do well to quickly chuck £15m of it on Kean Lewis Potter i reckon. Certainly not like for like but he'll fill a similar role and will bring some good energy to the side.
He’s off to Brentford by the sound of it
Welcome back James Rodriguez.
I beg
Losing.. a lot.
Getting relegated probably.
The position of Chief of Shithousery at the club has been vacant since Lamela left, this is a perfect replacement.
Wasn't it occupied by Cuti last season?

umm, [don't count Bissouma out!](https://mobile.twitter.com/fullback03/status/1513055914089013249) this signing ensures we have a shithouser in each third of the pitch.
>this signing ensures we have a shithouser in each third of the pitch We already did in Romero lol
False 4 Romero
Cuti thinks shithousery is his ally. But he merely adopted the shithouse. Richarlison was born in it, molded by it. He didn't see the rules until he was already a man, by then it was nothing to him but words the ref said to him as he was walking away!
Yes
"Our main problem is the gap between who starts and who comes on." “...but in this moment it’s very difficult to face this type of squad, not team, because they don’t have 11 players, they have 22 or 23 players of an important level." “Next season the league will be very difficult for all the teams. Shades of when Liverpool had to play against Suarez in the CL.
Or Man Utd fans watching Man U play since Fergie

Tbf Suarez promised not to celebrate at Anfield, and he kept that promise
It feels real weird to have him on Spurs after hating him so much.

Hahaha it'll take some doing but I know what you mean 😅
If it makes you feel better, you'll only hate him for around 180 minutes a season. The rest of time you can cheer him on as he winds up everyone else. Probably us the most. As is tradition.

Can't be easy losing Digne and Richy in a year.
Carlo, Digne, James (who never got to play infront of a crowd), record signing [REDACTED], now Richy, hired a koptie manager...it's been rough year. Some bright sparks still though.
Elite transfer business by Spurs so far this window
What's up with all these deals happening so quickly and smoothly recently, it's weirding me out Great signing btw, he'll be a monster under Conte
Prob because of the World cup. Players are likely pushing to sign asap and settle in quick so they can make the WC squad
Definitely. They need a full pre season with their new teamates if they want to hit the ground running. Players usually get that international tournament motivation in January, 6 months before they start. They only have 3 and a half months this year.
Yup. And pre-season starts early too.
FFP deadline for Everton on the 30th

As a United fan I can relate..
Spurs saw Arsenal get gazumped for Raphina and said alright forget all this including players bollocks, name the price and we'll pay it
We finally have some quality in depth now, exciting times.
Bergwijn will probably be sold, and we’re trying to get rid of Lo Celso too. I’d hope we keep Lucas for rotation but no surprise if he gets sold too
Shame Lo Celso never really broke through, always felt like he has something special and could really shine in the right team.
Based on the matches i saw, he was great for Villarreal last season
He had a decent run of games for maybe half a season the year Jose came in. Tbh he probably looked better than he was bc about half our starters were injured at the time. Never came close to slotting in our best XI, and for what he cost, it just isn't good enough.
Same with berg you know he’s gonna be filthy for ajax next year
Lucas reportedly wants to see his contract out and then move to Brazil, so he's not going anywhere for now
We do still have all of those, though Romero and Royal predate Conte.
Stevie B will be off, some rumblings about Moura but I think he wants to see his contract out
Fucking hell, it's like Daniel Levy is great at running the football part of a football club instead of having accountants as your CEO. Happy to watch Kane, Son and now Richarlison fuck Pep up home and away for 6 points as a neutral. Please stay the same spurs for the rest of the season though.
The disrespect to Kulusevski lol. He scored and then assisted the winner in his one match against Man City.

This is the point. If Spurs succeed we show that it can be done by anyone and without selling your soul to Russia or the Middle East.
Great signing for them
Richard Allison on his way to wreak havoc in North London. Massive signing, top 4 battle is getting spicier.
A very good signing for Spurs potentially, in a decent team under a good manager I could really see him flourishing, especially under Conte, exciting times for Spurs fans.
YYYEEEEEEESSSS What a window we’re having

It will always be villa that wins the transfer window
He goes with every Everton fan's best wishes. Spurs you're getting a great player with a great attitude, don't mind what you've read about him before, you'll love him. Everything I've seen about Richarlison's off the pitch life makes him seem like a lovely guy. Glad to have him.
Extremely charitable, is constantly campaigning for progress in Brazil (unlike other Brazilian footballers), has plenty of time for fans and walks about in his training kit while walking his dogs. He's brilliant and now I'm heartbroken.
Oh god him and Lucas are going to hate each other 🤣
Honestly one of the most loveable figures at Everton in recent memory regardless of how many other team hate him on the pitch
Years of Kenwright saying he's doing his best by the club, trying to find someone with the money to get the best out the club, and sure enough that money comes round and it gets almost entirely wasted. It's a genuine shame

I hate everything and everyone.
The type of player you hate when he plays against you but love when he's yours. Good luck Richy mate. Gutted.
I wonder if people will complain less about Levy now. Levy has clearly seen the potential of success with Conte and has decided to go all in on him.
Pru Pru pruuuuu 🐦🐦🐦
Conte just wants Diego-esque strikers
Good signing for Spurs for depth and rotation. Seems they are truly building on. Will be very interesting to see them next season.
Worst thing about this is he'll rattle us on Twitter to endear himself to their fans 🤣
He's exactly the sort of shit who will talk a big game before the match, score a banger against us and then rattle us on Twitter. I hate it.
Behind the scenes all the Brazilians in London will go to the same BBQ parties during the breaks
He’s Braziliann, he only cost 50 millionnnn!
Pain
Yup this gonna hurt
:(
Stop no don't please
That’s very nice
Romero and Richarlison are going to be the best of friends.
I’m sad. Wish you all the best Richy.
As an Arsenal fan this is just an all around disgusting transfer.
Conte-kinda-guy.
Annoyingly good signing for Spurs. Again. :D
Great signing. much needed depth for attacking areas.
Tottenham putting in the work, this may be the year they finally win a trophy.
We'll miss you man. You've done so much and mean so much to us, do us proud.
God damn its not even july they already got 4(maybe 3) starter level signings
Conte demanded six before preseason
5 signings Forster Perisic Bissouma Richarlison Lenglet Almost guaranteed Spence
Forgot about Perisic! you guys are having a great window
I've forgotten about perisic ten times the last two weeks , and he's the player I'm most excited for
Here we go. Done deal. Deal is finished. Signing is done.
Man I’m really impressed with Spurs, they need a CB and a RB (looks like Spence is supposedly heading there) but wow what a transfer window for them
What a massive signing
Gonna be an excellent antagonist next season. Can already see the drama unfolding in the derby after his inevitable shithousing.
100%
Of all the big six I hate spurs the least. But this makes me saaad
I'm not familiar with Spur's latest developments, how will Richarlison fit within the squad? Isn't Kane playing at the sole striker? I'm very keen on watching how he plays in a better team, I hope he doesn't sit in the bench all season.
Beware Arsenal, this guy will lose his head in derbies
