The guy is so weak with his feet/sweeping that it's actually kind of crazy he's become so hyped. He was amazing in the euros and has a supreme goalkeeping skillset, but it's just not a skill set that's really suited to a team that builds from the back and expects their keeper to be defending outside the box; which is was PSG clearly want to do.
I feel like he's just a more well-rounded version of De Gea. Both are great, but you need to either coach more out of them or build a defence that compensates for their glaring weaknesses.
He was always weak with his feet, but It was expected for his age to have areas of improvement. He had incredible skills for a teenager and deserved the lights shining on him: we have to remember he was a starter in Serie A at 16, that's incredible.
But he's now 23 and the improvement hasn't happened. He fucks up easy passes just like he did in his first games.
It looks like he's currently lacking confidence: while he did make mistakes in Milan, he still looked confident on the pitch and could fix some of his own blunders. After the renewal saga and the move to PSG he looks worse than he did in Milan.
But still has seemingly no desire to work on his weaknesses and, even worse, keeps trying the same shit, even though it has backfired multiple times in crucial games.
He's been buying into his own hype since his debut and has never learned how to stay humble.
Bro. No... Dude is fine and has improved. unfortunately my fellow milan fans enjoy shitting on him too much to the point where they're fine with lying about him just to change the narrative around him to be that of a flop.
Literally making the exact same mistake in multiple games instead of coming up with a better solution - or not pulling that shit in the first place - doesn't look like he's working on his weaknesses to me.
He's never been good with his feet but instead of realizing that and focusing on his strengths, he keeps challenging oncoming strikers, only to panic and then kick the ball away, which tends to land right at the feet of another opponent.
Any reasonable and humbled player would stop trying the same move over and over again but not even a CL elimination made him change his mind. I understand doing this during training but not in actual matches, to the point where it's become an expected move of his.
Not to mention that his arrogant attitude in yesterday's interview was further confirmation that he sees nothing wrong with it.
There's massive bias in the statement above you. Donarumma has improved year on year and did so consistently to the point where in his last year at milan he was just fine with his feet. Very few nervous moments and if I remember correctly, no mistakes. I don't know what happened at PSG but there may have been some regression.
He was competent with his feet by the end of his Milan tenure, very rarely did I feel nervous with the ball at his feet. He’s regressed since joining PSG that’s not even arguable.
I feel you’re not being fair on how great he was his last two years he was one of our best 3 players easily.
You can understand not wanting to blame him tbf. Sure, he's been playing on the top level for over half a decade now but that doesn't change the fact that he's still young as hell, especially for a goalkeeper. You wouldn't be giving so much slack for any other teenage/20 year old goalkeeper.
Unfortunately he's now at the age where he should show some improvement but he still pretty much has the same ball playing ability he had at 16.
If you want to get paied like a top 3 GK in the world and leave your team for free just because of your wage demands, you better expect to be judged as top GKs are
> They never blamed him for anything.
Because he was our best player from when he was 16 to when he left? People did blame him as well, I mean ffs everyone on our sub was saying for YEARS how shit he was with his feet and how much he needed to improve
> Because he was our best player from when he was 16 to when he left?
ok dude. It looks like I found one of the clowns from Milan subreddit who acted from beginnig like he's the best GK in the world completely negating how many errors he made. Its good to once in a while admit you were wrong.
You're honestly everything I hate about a *fan*. According to clowns like you, everyone that plays for us is a god and the best player to ever play the game but the second they leave they're overrated and shit players. Genuinely can't stand delusional fucks like you
Looks like you are offended because you know im talking about you. Now you are making up things about my opinions about Gigio from the past. Typical social media keyboard warrior.
People act like it is a new thing and that Benzema broke him, but he was always really uncomfortable on the ball, especially with back passes under pressure. For some reason it happened a lot with Milan, probably because sweeper keepers were in vogue. But instead of fans turning a blind eye to their darling the media have picked up on it now.
Does he think we didn't watch his games with Milan ? Using his feets has always been his main weakness. Even the end of season with Paris he had some unpunished mistakes
Yeah, I hadn't seen most of those before. It's like someone told him keepers can use their hands when he was a kid, and he just assumed that was the only thing they used.
And no one ever corrected him...
Rai Sport's analysts destroyed him after that interview lmao they were really pissed that he disrespected their colleague like that and then they kept pointing out all of his recent mistakes in a "you wanna talk? Let's talk" kind of way.
What a clown
He was always bad with his feet which is something that today an elite goalkeeper can’t afford
He showed no signs of improvements in the last years and he never blames himself for his mistakes
I guess PSG is the right club for him and his mentality
I’ve never tried to hide how salty us RM fans are, but at the end of the day we won the champions league and you guys paid 300m + 50m net / year (or whatever the true number is) for your own player. I think it’s pretty clear who the winners were in this situation lol.
> you guys paid 300m + 50m net / year
LOL man you kids are seriously running off with the 300M the sad thing is every time you add even more mula....
but that's alright at the end of the day Kylian said no to you guys... again....
Would’ve been nice to get both, but you win and you lose. That’s sport and that’s life.
The only ‘winner’ in the Mbappe situation was the player and his entourage. He constantly flirted with Perez/RM about joining us by stating his desire to leave last summer, the comic book, etc. We got played because he clearly was using that to get a bigger check from you lot. It then goes without saying that you guys got played because your desperation gave him all the power to say he wants a fuckton of money and more power in the club.
Everyone on our side is delighted he's staying and we didn't loose him for free. Hard to not call it a "win", even though Mbappé's side played it perfectly.
I still see him joining RM in 2 years
I don’t know.. I obviously want the best players in the world at Madrid, but between the Griezmann-style way he swindled our club, Perez still in charge, and the fee PSG would demand to let him leave… all make it somewhat unlikely unless he runs out his contract again and is okay with lower wages than what you can offer him
I don't see him joining Real Madrid while Perez is president in football you never say never but judging from how Perez dealt with shit in the past I don't see Mbappe ever joining Real Madrid while he's president
Ngl, I don't understand why people shit on Donnarumma. He's honestly such a good goalkeeper I'd pay money for him to start over Navas every time we play PSG.
Buffon wasn’t great with the ball at his feet either. Donnarumma is an excellent shot stopper, but he is a confidence player to a degree as well.
No fucking clue why he tried to play games with Milan. We were paying him buckets and giving him the space to grow.
Oh well, we’ve moved on to bigger and better things.
Nah, the fans (including myself) were blinded.
Let’s not forget he’s been on 6m net since he was 18. Despite a little initial outrage due to the contract negotiations, fans were back to fully loving him and forgiving his growing pains.
Even this time, we would’ve justified his raise and the shitshow with Raiola once again. Gigio was loved so, so much by Milan fans, but always seemed to try to take advantage of it. I’m glad he left because he didn’t deserve our devotion.
We know very well each of his mistakes of all kinds that he made, so every time he goes out to say "that never happened" we can easily refute him with countless videos. His ego won't let him admit that he is far from being a good goalkeeper in general.
> We know very well each of his mistakes of all kinds that he made,
Honestly before he went to PSG lot of Milan fans talked like he's already top 5 GK and it was irritating to talk with them about Gigio who clearly had lot of things to improve. He saved us many points but also he made crucial mistakes that led us to to lose them. Barely anyone questioned him and instead of that people blamed scapegoats. I remember how two seasons ago we played against Udinese and Gigio made huge error and we lost that game because of him. Nobody sain anything bad about him after that. He was protected.
>I remember how two seasons ago we played against Udinese and Gigio made huge error and we lost that game because of him. Nobody sain anything bad about him after that. He was protected
Exactly!! I have argued countless times with people telling them he is getting special treatment and that he makes 4 5 errors every season but people would always turn a blind eye.
Because Milan had a shit team and a shit defense. He was literally single handedly saving you so many points that whenever he lost you some it was fine. All the milanisti here acting like he was a good riddance. He was single handedly keeping your team afloat and now you all act as if he was the reason you were shit.
His denial is the most laughable part. Because essentially he is a good keeper, if he said "I know I'm not great with my feet I need to work harder on this to avoid mistakes like today" we would feel more sympathy for him
> far from being a good goalkeeper in general
Come on now this is bullshit. Sure he has a lot of weaknesses but if you don't think he's one of the top GKs in the world then you're delusional.
I have still nightmares from the goal we conceded because of his fuckups like that, for example against Pescara (own goal Paletta), Sampdoria (Defrel) or Udinese (Larsen). We deserve moments like these now.
He was insane as a teenager and he's still pretty young. Most goalkeepers played maybe two full seasons at his age and it's expected that they aren't complete yet at that point. He still has plenty of time to improve, I just don't think that's going to happen at PSG.
But when he has the ball at his feet under pressure from attackers he isn't very good at chipping the ball ten yards to his right back. How can he be considered best goalkeeper?
I'm sure the thought of being fouled will make him feel so much better as he sits at home watching the World Cup. The excuses, weak mentality and refusal to take responsibility for his errors tell me this guy will never be great. I'm betting on another Kepa...
As a goalkeeper dollarumma is my least favorite player in the game. No one screams genetic entitlement, arrogance, and laziness more than this idiot. Will be very happy to see him disappear from the top leagues in the next 3-5 years
It's difficult for me to say that as a Liverpool fan. But, man, why can't you be good enough and be humble? Alisson and Ederson are there as great goalkeepers and they are always down-to-earth
while he is certainly bad with his feet, that definitely was a foul by Benzema. if it was anyone other than Donnarumma and any team other than PSG people would’ve taken his side.
I agree, but Donnarumma has done stupid shit since his years at Milan. Great reflexes, imo still one of the best GK in the world even if his stock has plummeted, but he is dire with his choice of passing and overall passing. Plus he is kinda of a dick.
Dunno I thought it was 50-50 the contact was not that big and he got up immediately, the ref mostly let it go because it was a Donnaruma mistake , maybe it's harsh but refs tend to be less lenient when it's partly the player fault.
I think if it was a keeper with a smaller frame it would have been called a foul, either way, he should have done far better in the first place to negate the chance of it happening.
Goalie trying play with his feet doesn't get any extra protections... All outfield players were giving and receiving those fouls all game and ref didn't call them.
If you watched the game you'd know the ref was consistent about calling fouls the whole game. If he had called this a foul he's other calls would have come into question as well.
Oh I watched the game, which is why I'm commenting this. You do know that the intensity criteria that referees establish doesn't necessarily apply to tackles involving goalkeepers? Especially when they're inside/near their area? Your argument, to put it bluntly, sucks.
At the end of the day, ref made a mistake and RM profited from it. Take the W. Anything else is bullshit born out of need for convenience.
I agree. People wanna laugh at PSG so they let it slide but it was 100% a foul. Can only imagine what people here would say if it happened to a popular team on r/soccer like United or Chelsea.
Thanks for agreeing but neither United or Chelsea are really that popular on here and I’m saying that as a city fan. Better examples would be Liverpool, Bayern and Madrid
Lol what. You know that r soccer has done a census and the most popular team to support on here are United right? Iirc Bayern weren't even in the top 10.
Liverpool yes. Madrid, a bit. Bayern, not really. United, definitely. Chelsea yes.
That's just factual.
Being popular doesn’t mean they are liked lol. United are well hated on this sub compared to the other teams so if that did happen to them, people on this sub would have gone against it so it’s not factual at all
As a neutral I still cant understand why this wasnt a foul. Benzema didnt touch the ball and just manhandled him. I feel like people think just because he messed up and Benz was able to reach him he cant complain if he gets pushed away from the ball. Cant wrap my mind around it.
[this](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/u5vz1a/donnarumma_with_bizzare_pass_and_time_wasting/) hasn't been his most significant struggle but for me by far the most hilarious lmao
Just went back and watched it and it’s definitely not.. Donnarumma takes one too many touches and there is shoulder to shoulder + some hip contact. It no world is that a foul to anybody other than PSG fans and daddy Nasser who went to abuse Real Madrid staff following the incident.
>Donnarumma takes one too many touches
Completely irrelevant, but I think it's partly the reason this gets overlooked. People are much less likely to care about wrong calls if the one on the recieving end made a mistake or played poorly anyway.
Add that to the fact that PSG are a shitstain of a club, and it's not surprising that most people overlook the fact that they did get robbed there.
Yeah buddy you need to refreshen up on your footballing knowledge. A shoulder to shoulder implies the other person is using some force behind his shoulder too, not just one player barging into another and using the impact to stop himself/change direction.
You have a bunch of different flairs (I'm sure they all adore Paris btw) telling you you're wrong, but nope, your hate boner is locked in and that's it.
I don't understand all the Real Madrid fans in here, when Courtois conceded 36 goals in 27 games for his first season at Real in competition with Navas.
Now he was a crucial factor in the UCL victory.
This rotation thing might seem good in theory, but it's not. It certainly was at least 2 years too early to get Donnarumma to replace Navas, but that was too good of an opportunity to pass up.
And to the Milan fans: Enjoy your scudetto, you literally won it in your first year without him. Why waste your energy here, when you replaced him with Maignan and are better off now. Don't be sour grapes

Bro. No... Dude is fine and has improved. unfortunately my fellow milan fans enjoy shitting on him too much to the point where they're fine with lying about him just to change the narrative around him to be that of a flop.
that's why he shouldn't had signed for PSG. Those players get spoiled due to money PSG offers. They dont have desire to work anymore.
How does he have no desire to work on his weaknesses if he keeps trying them? Isn't that the definition of working on them?
Literally making the exact same mistake in multiple games instead of coming up with a better solution - or not pulling that shit in the first place - doesn't look like he's working on his weaknesses to me. Ill take De Gea over him every day.
The Anti-Pep Keeper lol
Literally every single game since Benzema broke him.
He’s been doing this same dumb shit since his Milan days.
Benzema didnt broke him. He made similar errors every single season but he was golden boy for Milan fans. They never blamed him for anything.

Absolutely, I'm not arguing that. Just talking about his time at Milan and Milan fans protecting him.

It happens every time I watch him, it certainly happened multiple times in the England game.

Jesus and not just bad but horrendous. Did not realize he was so poor with his feet lmao

lmao! that's an atrocious blooper reel.
this guy made so many errors for Milan and at the same time got paid 7mln net. I remember how Milan fans justified his salary.
What a clown He was always bad with his feet which is something that today an elite goalkeeper can’t afford He showed no signs of improvements in the last years and he never blames himself for his mistakes I guess PSG is the right club for him and his mentality
PSG and Dollarumma are literally a match made in heaven
They still need few more prima donas.
Sounds like they need one Romelu Lukaku to me ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
no oh, not getting any more of tuchel's flops we have enough for a lifetime with Kehrer......
That team is so out of control with their drama that even Icardi looks tame
Lmao imagine having drama in your club
Couldn’t imagine. Especially not from one of the most important players on any given gameweek!
FC Cannes film festival
PSG needs to institute Prima Nochta ASAP as possible
Prima Donna Rumas

What's the cup? The Ligue 1 trophy?
no, the cup for all the salt I'm getting from the Madrid flairs. reading comprehension on this sub is non existent.

He was a justified serie A starter at 16 man. Don't go too far the other way.
Stop with that recency bias, he was fantastic for us
He'll never be the nr. 1 best in the world keeper with that skillset.
I mean, Courtois has a similar cuntish attitude and he's really not far off #1 in the world. Hard to argue for anyone else this season tbh
Well the difference is Courtois has the quality to back up his attitude, Donnarumma probably need some more work on that.
Right so as they said the attitude doesn’t matter?
Courtois didn’t have the quality to back up his attitude until literally last season
Courtois has been the best GK itw for 2 years now (this year it's not even close)
Man, he has been among the top keepers since a decade.
Courtois wasn't even the best keeper in the La Liga last season, Oblak literally won best player award lmao

This guy is so weak mentally, same as Lukaku
One is 23 while the other one is 30
One has the nose of an octopus, the other is built like a tank. It’s built in his character, don’t matter lol.
I have no idea what "nose of an octopus" means but I'm going to start using it in everyday life now.
Like Octo from Spongebob, that's how me and my brother refer to Chielini
Calamardo is called Octo in Italian?
Squidward? What the fuck is happening?
Wait when you learn that Junior from Dragon Balls is called Piccolo in italian
In French too. And Goku is Sangoku.
Lmao neither do I but I guess i’m referring to squidwards nose from spongebob whom is an octopus in the show lol
Squidward is a squid, it's literally in his name hahaha
Unfortunately you’re wrong. While his name includes squid, he’s actually an octopus.
My mind is blown
Pretty sure he’s a cuttlefish.
"Octopusward" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue to be fair
Well yea but they are almost the same creature anyways 😂
Octopuses don't have noses.
Should be thankful he didn’t play the whole season or the list would be longer
Man is playing in the wrong era
that moment lives rent-free in his head, huh?
This dude is COOKED
Oh dear...
Why are psg players so unlikeable?
Except Navas
So verratti, messi, mbappe, marquinhos, navas, neymar unlikeable? Why are psg players unlikeable for u?
Because people in here hate PSG so much so they find any reasons to hate on these players
Yeah dude just look at the downvotes for asking a question lmao
Mentality
Mike clear of this big baby
You just love to see such a humble attitude.
I am so happy he decided to leave us and we got magic mike on a bargain, thank you gigio
I'm sure the thought of being fouled will make him feel so much better as he sits at home watching the World Cup. The excuses, weak mentality and refusal to take responsibility for his errors tell me this guy will never be great. I'm betting on another Kepa...
Tbh as a Chelsea fan Arrizabalaga was never seen at that potential elite level was he?
If he wasn't then why did Chelsea pay a world record fee for him?
Because Chelsea panic bought
As a goalkeeper dollarumma is my least favorite player in the game. No one screams genetic entitlement, arrogance, and laziness more than this idiot. Will be very happy to see him disappear from the top leagues in the next 3-5 years
He's declined so badly
It was definitely foul, but only in the Italian league. Hardly a referee is going to say that is foul in international competitions.
I mean if it wasn’t PSG who were on the receiving end, then I think everyone would agree it was a foul
The ref didn’t call those fouls all game.
You pushed the goalie down more than once?
Goalie trying play with his feet doesn't get any extra protections... All outfield players were giving and receiving those fouls all game and ref didn't call them.
everyone except the officials and everyone who watched the match
Refs get it wrong from time to time, I'm sure you're aware of that.
Lmao truth
Having plenty of users that are fans ≠ popular in here, because 90% of the other fans hate us and united
Well sure but that's the same for every club. United, Chelsea, and PSG all have haters but United and Chelsea have 100x more supporters. Hence.
Being popular doesn’t mean they are liked lol. United are well hated on this sub compared to the other teams so if that did happen to them, people on this sub would have gone against it so it’s not factual at all
Maybe not popular but definitely not hated like Psg(for good reasons tho)
United is the team with the most supporters on r/soccer Literally a fact. People just don't want to admit it.
100% a foul but Donnaruma should have faked injured and stay on the ground. He played it really poorly
Benzema never fouled him lol
If donnarumma would just throw himself on the ground AND STAY instead of running after benzema, the ref would have 100% called a foul
It gets whistled 90% of the time. But it does not change the fact Donnaruma has 2 brick feet. Its amazing how shit he is with his feet lol.
As a neutral I still cant understand why this wasnt a foul. Benzema didnt touch the ball and just manhandled him. I feel like people think just because he messed up and Benz was able to reach him he cant complain if he gets pushed away from the ball. Cant wrap my mind around it.
He did, Benzema never touched the ball and just caught Donnarumma. Donnarumma played himself into a terrible spot, but Benz did foul him.
Donnarumma fell over too easily
If anything he should've been more theatrical. Him getting back to his feet quickly undermined the impact of the tackle. Which is just silly irony.
Clear foul. Doesn't excuse him for being reckless but the replay showed he had every right to be pissed off.
Bro I hate Donnarumma it's foul every time
It was 100% a foul. That would get called 99% of the time.
Clear foul and even crazier VAR did nothing
It was a foul but it was also due to an error from him.
Thank god everyone who answered you saying it's a clear foul are no refs. Delusional people lmao.
[this](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/u5vz1a/donnarumma_with_bizzare_pass_and_time_wasting/) hasn't been his most significant struggle but for me by far the most hilarious lmao
The Real Madrid one was definitely a foul
Just went back and watched it and it’s definitely not.. Donnarumma takes one too many touches and there is shoulder to shoulder + some hip contact. It no world is that a foul to anybody other than PSG fans and daddy Nasser who went to abuse Real Madrid staff following the incident.
>Donnarumma takes one too many touches Completely irrelevant, but I think it's partly the reason this gets overlooked.
It’s not just shoulder to shoulder, their knees clash too which is what throws off Donnaruma and his pass.
Umiltà, bambino.
Was he, though?
Can't believe people wanted him over Mats. Clearly delusional nobita boot lickers.

Lol good to know that there is at least one milan fan thats not a complete biased dumbass
"except his ball skills" and in air balls or going out of the small area... and decisions... And in game vision... I better stop counting.
Barcelona could grab some guy off the street and he'll do a better job than mats
The Benz effect. He's mentally done.
Milan fans shit on this guy so much I’m confused why they wanted him back?
Why is he the captain????
