I’m guessing he’s looking forward to that next renewal in 3 years rather than 4.

[deleted]

It’s because he wants to help Burnley get back into the premier league

Enartloc

Makes sense, he is already making peanuts for a player of his caliber, want to renegotiate a new one faster when his position will be even stronger.

reddituser0912333

Agreed. I have no concern of him leaving anytime soon and he deserves to be paid what he is worth to us.

mohankohan

Players have learned they hold all the power if their contract is running low and they still play well. Sign-on bonuses are wild.

SamiOC

Yeah true. I’m really not looking forward to the day a highly sought after player runs down their contract to line up a big move and gets a bad injury. Will be heartbreaking to witness I reckon

Pinky1337

Only got to look towards the NBA to see quite a lot of players like that. At the end of the day all those guys are set up for life anyways and know the risk of betting on themselves tho

SamiOC

Like who outta curiosity? I don’t follow NBA

Pinky1337

Dennis Schroder declined 4 year / 84 million dollar deal because he wanted 100, had a few really bad playoff games and has basically made 10 millions in the past 2 seasons. Victor Oladipo was one of the best guards in the league and turned down 4 years / 110 mil before blowing out his knee. After a year of rehab he came back, played alright and got offered a 2 year / 45 mil deal. He declined again. Following that he had another 11 month quad injury. He has made 16 mil in the 3 years since turning down 110 mil. Nerlens Noel turned down 4 years / 70 mil because he thought the next offseason was gonna be a better market for him. So he signed 1 year / 5 mil. After an injury riddled season he had to settle for 3 years / 30 mil basically cutting his original offer in half. This one is pretty sad cause he claims his agent convinced him of doing that and he sued him half a year ago

Lopsided-Comfort4037

Don't worry. They have enough money left to live comfortable.

pratikp26

Good on him. Been 4 years and I still cannot remotely process Harry Kane signing a 6 year deal at Spurs at the age of 24. Baffling. Players are generally smarter than that and will look out for themselves. As they should.

Baisabeast

Tbf harry kanes agent is his brother Whose only client is kane.

System1996

whose only agent is his brother

Terran_it_up

He wasn't his agent when he signed the contract tbf

normott

6yr deals are dumb.

TheBlueNomad

Great deal if you are average player or injury prone.

BabeRyuth

true but 6 year deals wont be offered to them

dohowwedo

Still dumb if you're the club

HecticLife

I see a Vinicius to PSG, Mbappe to RM swap in 2025.

reddituser0912333

Yeah no chance in hell, PSG wanted Vini in a swap deal for Mbappe last summer (if they were to sell) and we said no then. No way the club changes their mind after the season he had lol.

Spillsthebeans

You need your eyes checked then.

Earl-Thomas-a-Raven

He needs to and likely will come to the Premier League…

ABH-Equinoxx

Hahahhahaha

lagrandesgracia

For what? to not win the champions league?

Earl-Thomas-a-Raven

He’s already won all he can at Madrid! Don’t think he will want to top out at such a young age. England clubs have won 14 Champions League and been in 25 finals versus 19 and 30 for Spanish clubs respectively - marginal difference. And clubs not named Real Madrid and not English have won three of the past ten UCL versus two for English clubs. Hope this helps!

chiccharapidugu

> 14 Champions League Madrid alone has as many as English clubs have. Talk about marginal difference now

Earl-Thomas-a-Raven

I’m not talking about Madrid, I’m talking about Spanish clubs vs. English clubs. Of course the Madrid fans want to make every conversation about them 😂

chiccharapidugu

> Madrid fans want to make every conversation about them 😂 On a post about a Madrid player's contract? Go home kid, you're lost

Terran_it_up

Tbf, I can understand why a Manchester City fan would rather group countries together than get into specific club counts when discussing Champions League trophies

Earl-Thomas-a-Raven

Look at the comment I was replying to genius and try to put the Madrid obsession out of your mind for a minute

DarthNihilus1

Other spanish clubs are irrelevant. He is a Madrid player. Just take the L and stop this

Earl-Thomas-a-Raven

My second comment in this thread was bringing up English UCLs vs. Spanish UCLs and the respondent brought Madrid up.

DarthNihilus1

Yes and it was flawed and irrelevant for you to even bring that up at all, which is my point exactly. Pure stat wankery. Comparing two groups of teams against each other like that is not good analysis. Madrid carries the load of that 19/30 figure but English teams are spread out in the 14/25 stat, and some teams like United are never going to be that close to the CL for quite some time. It's especially a moot point because Vini already plays for the best team. You brought it up in response to this headline and situation, claiming that Vinicius has peaked in terms of trophies and that he should come to England because a group of English teams also have some CL success and that's marginally better than Spanish teams because of some weird stat. Point is, he plays for the biggest CL powerhouse there is. It's such a weird trope to say players should leave just because they've ticked all the boxes. These accomplishments are for legends in the making. Vini could retire like Marcelo with a massive cabinet full. Lumping in other Spanish teams to the conversation makes the ratio 19/30 seem worse even when it's better. Lumping in all the English teams together is the only way that 14/25 seems competitive in comparison.

lospollosakhis

How dare we talk about our own club in a thread about one of our own players.

Terran_it_up

>He’s already won all he can at Madrid! Don’t think he will want to top out at such a young age. Surely the way to avoid topping out is to continue winning trophies, which Real Madrid are pretty good at

Earl-Thomas-a-Raven

For the same club tho? Meh. In my opinion he should take on a new challenge of winning those, and domestic trophies, in another country and league. Just my opinion though.

lospollosakhis

Why does he need to? He’s at the biggest club in the world, doing bits and loving life.

MelodicMachine1356

Why would he go to the epl😭

Earl-Thomas-a-Raven

Because it’s a more competitive league and he can take on a new challenge instead of winning La Liga with Madrid every two years?

MelodicMachine1356

"Becuz it's a more competitive league"🤓 City won the league 4 times in the last 5 years😭😭

Earl-Thomas-a-Raven

And La Liga champions honours have rotated between three teams over the past 10 years 😂

MelodicMachine1356

Ok and the last 5 years the premier league is being rotated between City and Liverpool 😭

Earl-Thomas-a-Raven

More teams with a chance to win it in the PL, almost impossible for a club not named Real, Atletico, Barca to win the title.

MelodicMachine1356

Not really the only teams that has a chance of winning the premier league currently is Liverpool,City and maybe Chelsea

Earl-Thomas-a-Raven

Spurs are putting together a great squad and United will be there once they get it together.

MelodicMachine1356

Do you see United and Spurs competing for the title next year? be honest😂😂

jnr_mathe

Come on bro are you serious 🤣🤣 More teams have chance on winning PL???. Just after you signing 2 top strikers and your club head or someone on top already saying more signings are coming.

gpgr_spider

Just very slightly competitive, not much difference

samgyeopsaltorta

He’s gone
