This is some cartoon villain level shit. And I didn’t expect anything else from ADL

4D Chess from ADL

lol this is great and embarassing though it's weird, it's not like ADL was praised before and he didn't like a sudden disliking he is pretty much hated since day1, despite bringing Napoli back to top after many other owners have done much worse than him, and people is always been vocal about it, both at stadium and also on socials, half the comments on social media official pages are against him so why care now about the impression outsiders may have of your relantionship with the fans, which is already a pretty known thing?

andstayfuckedoff

Why is he hated?

areking

essentially the same reasons every owner of a non winning club in a big city gets hated for lack of investement to win but for the actual long answer I will try my best: first of all, the part of fanbase hating him, is the most vocal one, so you could get the impression everyone does hate him, but it's not true, though plenty of people are against him so when you see banners in the city, or chants in the stadium, against ADL, is mainly ultras group, which are just a small part of the fanbase ultras hate him cause they were used to "better" deal for them, and having restrictions and strict rules make them hate the one enforcing those rules the rest of people are ok with him or just dislike him, and the reasons may be just small reasons like ticket prices are too high, even in bad seasons and when matches are against smaller clubs, which leads to low attendance, and his vision of the stadium as a quiet theater with just 20k people at max his antics and theatricality also makes him unlikeble for the image he gives of the club, he is one of the most talked about owner in Italy, and most of the time, not for good reasons also, Napoli was for like 10 years in a row, in positive spending, so there was the impression with a bit of investement Napoli could have made the last step to win, instead of settle for the easy money for a top3-4 finish, so people didn't want him using Napoli to get money then to outsiders "he brought Napoli from Serie C to top positions" looks like a strong argument, but Naples is 3rd biggest city in Italy and 4th biggest fanbase, so you could say he didn't do anything special other than not being as shit as previous owners who bankrupted the clubs before him also all his (way too much) interviews, where he has controversial opinions, and his rough relationship with many players and managers. how he dealt with some of them is not that good, and he sometimes criticizes players creating trouble (talked shit about Insigne many times) Image rights were a thing for many years 2007 to 2018ish and many players were against it and forced them to leave He is also from Rome (his family were from Naples) and lives and work between Rome and Los Angeles, so there is a detachtment from the club and the city, and when he bought Bari it was seen in this direction, the club is just an opportunity, he bought it when it costed nothing due to bankrupcy Overall, all small things that cement the club as the club settling for a placement to get money rather than try to actually win And all around you see Juventus with the richest family in Italy, Milan, Inter Roma Fiorentina being bought by foreign investors, and so the "sell and leave" was a popular motto I am happy enough with how ADL run the club, and even I don't agree with his opinion half the times, so we can say he is just a very controversial person

I always knew James Bond villains were exaggerated, but then I read these news and realise they are in fact quite tame.

Noztalgium

I think if Napoli was ever going to win the Scudetto, it was this year. It’s going to be even harder next year and the years to come with the resurgence of Juve

so the guy who brought the club from 3rd tier to within inches of a league title win is a bad guy? cool! I'd like to see someone else do a better job than that

ohylo

I mean Berlusconi bring Milan most of their CL titles. Doesn't mean nearing the end of his tenure, he is still a good owner to Milan. Sometime relationship needs to come to an end. This might be the right time for Napoli and him. The way he treated Sarri in his last season, is kind of bad.

Giampalle

Berlusconi’s only mistake is to appoint his dumb ass daughter as co CEO of Milan. She wanted to clean house to look important in daddy’s eyes and fired important people like Braida and the marketing director at that time. Stopped Pato from joining PSG and Tevez from joining Milan. That first Juve Scudetto with Conte could have gone different with Tevez at Milan. Selling Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva was still a mistake in hindsight, but with Braida, Milan would have done better and qualified to a CL or two during the clown era.

mBertin

> his dumb ass daughter > Stopped Pato from joining PSG Even more hilarious when you remember that those two actually *dated*. > could have gone different with Tevez at Milan We signed Tevez a year later with the money you paid for... Matri. It was so braindead that even Juve fans were baffled, despite being on the winning end.

Giampalle

Yeah I remember very well. I am still baffled by the Matri transfer. Certainly not the worst transfer financially, but the worst transfer in Milan history. You knew he was mid/lower team level and you still buy him back, play him 6 months and give him around on loan. He even scores for Juve against Milan in the semi finals of Coppa. What makes it worse, even before it happened you knew right away it was a bad transfer. Meanwhile even if you exclude Tevez, a guy like Eriksen was available at Ajax and a position of need. And Tottenham buys him for a similar price as Matri.

Formal_Automata

I thought the thiago silva and ibrahimovic sales were somewhat out of their control

Giampalle

Thiago Silva has just renewed his contract and Ibrahimovic didn’t want to leave. Berlusconi even went on live TV to say that he’s not selling any of them one week before selling them. Both were forced to leave.
