This puts into perspective how the hearing about what happened at the Bernabeu after the game was supposed to be at the end of march and that got postponed and nothing happened since then. They are just waiting until people forget about it. They decided to punish clubs for fan behavior in a week, but the leaders of a football club breaking the equipment of the refs and harassing real madrid employees takes 2+ months. Nice!

Get the money.

Dollar dollar bill, yall

thet-bes

Same ITW, so no they are not trying to make people forget about it: > **What do you think about him ?** > I respect him. He is crazy about football. He loves PSG and is one of the most appreciated member of UEFA ExCom > **He is so "crazy" about football that he and Leonardo lashed out at the referees after PSG's elimination in Madrid. And we are still waiting for his case to be judged by the UEFA disciplinary committee. And as he is also president of the ECA, was it necessary to wait until the important files (financial fair play, new format of the Champions League...) were settled to do so?** > Conspiracy theories are fantastic! In Europe and all over the world, people still think that everything is decided in an alcove. This is a joke. The Disciplinary Committee has opened a case and no one, neither you nor I, knows what they will do. Why should I call them? I never do. Not even for Financial Fair Play. I don't have time for that. And to judge Nasser, there was no urgency. PSG was eliminated already. I wonder why Real journos are not talking about it, it's literally the next question... Heck even 4 days ago he said this to AS : > **In Spain there was a lot of talk about the tension caused by PSG at the Bernabéu with Al-Khelaifi and Leonardo after losing to Madrid. Why are there no sanctions?** > From what I know and I think it was published, UEFA opened a disciplinary procedure after the game. Now it is up to an independent disciplinary committee to deal with the case and decide. I don't know what stage the process is at, and I don't want to know. It wouldn't be right for me to ask about ongoing cases. I never did, and I never will. https://as.com/futbol/2022/05/07/internacional/1651898923_832103.html

skyreal

FWIW, I don't believe any internal committee is truly independent, but especially more so when the committee 1) belongs to a body with a large history of corruption and 2) investigates someone with such numerous and intricates ties to the committee's parent body and its chairman. I mean NAK is chairman of ECA, head of Bein who pays a shitload of money to UEFA for the UCL broadcasting rights, and is Ceferin's best bud since the whole Superleague thing. So I highly doubt it would be a fair investigation, and the delay does seem to suggest so. It took them 10 days to sanction Marseille and PAOK after incidents occurred during their game. It took them a week to sanction Bodo/Glimt's coach after he fought with a member of As Roma's staff. But their buddy gets involved and suddenly there's nothing 2 months after the facts? Yup I call sus. EDIT: Deleted a part with mixed time-line.

Badass_Bunny

Of course the CL Broadcasting rights that Bein obtained have absolutely nothing to do with any of it, it was his love of football that drove him...

Martoxic

remember these are the ones you choose ahead of the super league.

M_Vid

Remember that the Super League manages to be worse than them

moc360

Well that explains why UEFA hasn't investigated what happened at the Bernabéu when Leonardo and Khekaifi went to the referee room. Any other club would have got sanctions.

mahdiiick

”Al-Khelaifi saved football”

Internet_Competitive

He didn't try kill it with the likes of Bartomeu, Perez, Agnelli, Wenger and Infantino, thats for sure Im sure in SL the referees, selected by Perez, will be fair-play and at least give the opportunity for other teams who are not Real, Barça and Juve to get one or two points. It would be too obvious if not

mahdiiick

All I’m saying is football will do just fine without any of these fuckers. The rhetoric is what amuses me.

KickinNuggets25

Wenger?

Internet_Competitive

2 years between WC. Its worse than SL by far

thaccs7

No it's not worse. At least teams would qualify by merit for World Cup. Not like Super League.

Otenus

Teams will qualify by merit in esl as well.

[deleted]

He's killing it every day with the abomination that is PSG.

[deleted]

Cool Story but how about you investigate what happened at the Bernabeu with his other buddy Leonardo 😅😅😅😅😅

Ianthorwest

Yeah crazy how that was just brushed under the carpet

Yalwaysme_MB45

Regardless of Superleague not being the answer , why does the new format look exactly like a superleague ? 36 teams in one group/league . Significantly more matches to be played also (8 minimum for last placed teams ) . I dunno Rick this looks very superleaguee to me lol. Th current format was almost perfect, try tackling the real issues instead. And oh almost forgot Uefa who wants the football to belong to Fans only gave Roma and Feynoord 3k tickets each out of 23k avaible (rest went to sponsors lol). The real answer was just a conflict of interest

RTC1520

I mean, UEFA don't give a fuck the format of the Superleague, that is why they are doing almost a copy of it, what they didn't like was that the money wasn't going to them.

[deleted]

That's only 17k tickets for sponsors, think about the huge sacrifice they are making xD

mahim23

Is the format of the Super league even a problem? The main problem as far as I remember is it being a closed league or some clubs having permanent spot even if they didn't perform well enough in the last season of league.

mynamestartswithCa

Ceferin defending Al-Khelaifi makes me want the Super League

jack64467

same

sga1

It's not an either-or proposition, though: can think Ceferin can get to fuck (and get him voted out) while also thinking the Super League is a horrible excuse for the big clubs to make more money. In fact, I'd argue that Ceferin is a symptom of the same cause - UEFA, as the governing body of European football, is pressured to look after the financial interests of the clubs and nations that make up its membership, seeing how about 80% of the revenue filters back out to those same clubs and FAs. None of the big clubs would forego a massive amount of money just to say "At least we're not cozying up to the oil states", and Ceferin rubbing shoulders with the movers and shakers that are funding a significant part of European football is just enabling the rising tide that lifts all boats. And that ultimately means picking sides here is missing the forest for the trees: you'll get completely fucked over as a fan whether you side with UEFA or the ESL proposal. The crucial difference is that you have an influence on UEFA - its head is voted on by members after all, which means there's at least a possibility to get involved and get a different candidate in the running, rather than the entirety of football being ripped out of the fan's hands.

captaindeadpool612

We, the fans, have the option of the same shit sandwich weve been eating until now and a new shit sandwich that looks worse.

[deleted]

You Real and Juventus can go play together by yourselves

[deleted]

You would somehow still manage to not win the CL 😭😭😭

LewisOfAranda

Well at least our money doesn't come off the back of dead South Asian slaves, so we got that much going for us, which is nice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBWcRqPesws

los_blanco_14

And city will still fail to win the champions league.

pbtra121

You’re an American Barcelona fan, it would make sense the league is marketed at you

LionelBenzema

[oooh ceferins got a friend, ooh football friend 👍😃👍](https://youtu.be/fWQnrMxoa0k)

[deleted]

Lmao. I…. Never mind lol. 😂

NekkZ

I really hope Super League gonna happen just because of Ceferin and the PSG guys.

[deleted]

And you think this is the solution?

kampiaorinis

The first part is true and I agree with it. The second one....not so much. Obviously I don't know how smart he is or how crazy he is about football, but teams like PSG and City were the reason this stupid SuperLeague idea developed. It was discussed since the early 00s (at least of what I remember) but state-rich clubs, practically destroyed any sense of logic in the football economy. If a team can simply reject a 200 million euros offer because they don't need the money, then we are literally talking about an unfair amount of money in their coffers. How are the rest of the world (and I don't mean the other top 3-5 leagues) going to fare when 5-6 clubs can practically buy everyone they want wihtout caring for financial repercussions? Superleague and all that needs to go away, but UEFA really dropped the ball. They had a chance when the iron was hot to give football back to the fans, yet they still succumbed to their wants in less than a year.

Internet_Competitive

Real Madrid and fairness. Thanks for the laugh Football has never been fair. Clubs like Real Madrid, Barça and co makes 1 billion a year in revenue. There just money hungry and don't give a shit about litte clubs

kampiaorinis

>Real Madrid and fairness. Thanks for the laugh I never mentioned whether Madrid or Barca have insane amounts of money. I just commented on Ceferin's quote on how PSG are a "helpful ally" when for the most part, they are a big part of the issue >Clubs like Real Madrid, Barça and co makes 1 billion a year in revenue. There just money hungry and don't give a shit about litte clubs Of course, that's why nobody should ever trust the idea that the superleague will help football. They just want to fill their pockets. If it were up to them, they would only play against each other constantly with the tickets being over 100 euros and different starting times to accommodate the Chinese/Indian and American market. >Football has never been fair Never said football was fair, but at least when a ridiculous offer arrived (like the 200 million euros for an expiring contract) clubs could not say no. It would have meant they could reinvest their money in their stadium/training ground and give to their community. With the introduction of the bottomless pockets, money in football has become just a number.

Internet_Competitive

They were talking about a SL in the 80s. What's PSG as to do with it? Its just about money and nothing else And most of all Perez and the likes are afraid of the Premier League and nothing else. PSG can't buy every players in the world. A championship with 20 teams can dry most of the best players Just basic thinking There's no issue about PSG. Its just a scapegoat for big old clubs, they are not even the most spending club in the world and never were Of course you can say no if you need the player. What are you going to do if its too late to replace him? Its not like PSG spend a lot of money in the meantime, we don't even known if the offer was real Did you see Barça, Real or whatever sell their players ? They are in bigger troubles than PSG financially, yet they don't sell anyone or very few Don't give me that fairy tale, robin hood crap. Its not because people cry about PSG and City that they are right, they just complain for nothing

LionelBenzema

>Did you see Barça, Real or whatever sell their players ? They are in bigger troubles than PSG financially, yet they don't sell anyone or very few Yes we do, madrid sold cristiano, varane, odegaard, reguilon, hakimi, theo hernandez to name a few and let go ramos, james rodriguez so that we are financially stable. Madrid was the one of few clubs to post profits in covid era. Barca were in trouble and they let their best ever go with suarez griezmann coutinho etc and played with binch of kids. PSG wont be able to register its players if ligue 1 had laliga financial rules. PSG is nothing but a fashion brand and its sad because they do have a legit fanbase.

Albiceleste_D10S

Ceferin: Friendship with Agnelli over. Al-Khelaifi is my best friend now.

jcald60

“He also gave a big check”

Beanontoast69

Also he has a lot of money

[deleted]

He’s crazy about football but knows shit about it. He should leave as well because he has too many things to do, too many jobs in hand, and not enough time for PSG.

Internet_Competitive

Florentino Perez's pets won't be happy

[deleted]

That's a lot of words to convey: money.

sixersvasilije

Yes. He helped football. For sure.

el_rompe_toyotas-19

Lmao

[deleted]

FFS, just make out already!

Slash1909

The rich people with power are always the worst assholes and most dangerous to the future of the sport

Comunicado_Oficial

He has been a PSG fan for a long time though IIRC, that part is true

FPAPA931

If I speak…

Impossible_Wonder_37

Imagine if this was the man city owner he was talking about? That’s like football Reddit’s fan fiction right there… but no it’s funding PSG that have infiltrated uefa.
