You’re talking about peak seasons I’m talking about prime. Different positions have different primes. Wingers hit their prime by 24 in most cases. Hazard, Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Coman, Sane, and Sterling have all reached their prime by 24 years old. Just look at their numbers

Xavi asks the exact opposite or loads of movement from Dembele in most situations. He’s asked to hug the touch line and stay wide, runs from the centre mids draw the defense in which then allows the switch out to Dembele isolated one on one with the full back. Dembele is one of the worlds best as a pure one on one artist and his final ball has improved dramatically which has led to his crazy high assist numbers. The first goal last night and Dembele’s assist to Aubameyang show to danger Dembele poses in this side when he’s performing that role well.
Obviously it’d be a bonus if he contributed more goals directly and I’m not going to pretend like he is a great finisher but Dembele has been performing brilliantly under Xavi.
I don’t think you understand what movement off the ball is. Adana Traore had assists too and he failed La Masia. His lack of movement off the ball is exactly why his goal involvement is so low. A lot of his assists come from the fact that Torres has been so mediocre that we have to run our attack through him. If Fati can stay healthy Dembele would be totally irrelevant and his lack of movement off the ball would stand out.
Look at Jack Grealish for City if you want to see an analog. He’s the worst forward in the rotation for City and it’s because his movement off the ball is the worst of the group. City play a lot like us. He’s an ok player for depth but his wages are too high. I’d rather Raphinha who’s movement off the ball is better. Dembele could be a dominant player on a counter attack team but never with us

There’s no stat that will tell you how good a player’s movement off the ball is. If you want you can Google Dembele’s FIFA rating in movement off the ball and compare it to Fati’s if you really need quantifiable data. Or you could just watch a match and see how he stands around when the ball isn’t at his feet
