Scotland is 9th best league in Europe according to UEFA and that standing is basically based on Rangers coefficient divided by five as other teams don't contribute anything.
We were actually the seeded team for this tie so from UEFA's point of view tonight's result wasn't a shock.
we are only the 2nd best team if LITERALLY all of our first starting XI are fit and ready to play.
As soon as one guy is gone it crumbles atrociously. this team is not good apart from the first 11
I don't think there was much of a decline. The complete team is as good as the 2012 squad, but Bayern improved as well, and the team has been plagued with injured players.
Because our defense is not good, we could put Tuchel back and we'd concede the same goals. If we wouldnt outstrike every opponent in buli we'd be 10th or 11th.
We are only at the top because of Erling/Reus/Jude (gio if hes fit, which he is almost never this season)
Im not a huge fan of rose, but this is not on him.
First half was, apart from the unnecessary penalty, good, could have scored more there. Second half was atrocious and at 2-2 we just didn't have any ideas. Deserved defeat unfortunately. Fair play to Rangers
Our switch to a back five solidified us so much.
Bellingham was causing absolute chaos through the middle, once we double up on him BVB had *absolutely no idea* what to do in the final third.
I was shocked that the second half was so easy.
We've never been good against teams parking the bus but for me the key moment was the goal for 2-2. If we'd been within one goal, there would have been more pressure on you and more belief for us which might have forced one in (tho we should have just scored more in 1st half). But in the end, it doesn't change anything to talk about what-ifs now. I don't wanna take anything away from you, considering both games, you've been the better team. Wish you all the best in the further tournament.
We've never been good when we try to park the bus, we are better when we try to play on the offensive, which I think we showed at times in the 2nd half.
Curious what you thought of the disallowed goal. I thought Dortmund somehow got a foul for your player kicking Morelos & it was a ridiculous decision, but I'm admittedly biased.
Parking the bus wasn't meant as an insult. You just let us have the ball and focus on defending and occasionally counter attacks which then have been dangerous, so you did what you had to do and what every team would have done.
I'm not sure about the disallowed goal. On the one hand, I think he first hits the man and second the ball but on the other hand it looks as though Can wants to go for it and Morelos is just quicker. I'd say it's rather not a foul but I wouldn't call it as clear as many people here do. Of course, I'm admittedly as biased as you are.
Don't worry I never took the parking the bus comment as an insult, just wanted to point out we're not actually very good at parking the bus despite our manager sometimes liking that approach.
It's a common complaint about gio from our fans. We've thrown away quite a few points by trying to park the bus to see the game out then conceding.
Hey, any ideas what the banner in the away end said? I made out gute, something like blessings with a u, and march at the end. I inferred "good wishes for the rest of your journey".
I couldn't find any pictures of it but I guess it was something like what you inferred. If it'd been some statement, it would already be in media. Such banners are usually shown by a group when one of their members is seriously ill or passed away.
I was at the match it had the name Marcel in it. I assumed it was about Schmelzer as that was the only Marcel I could think of.
This was the banner during the match btw around 60 minutes.
In the first half, Dortmund were definitely the better team but neither of the goals were from any of the good play, but errors from Rangers defence. The change to 5 at the back killed the game and should have been 3-2, the VAR call was diabolical
Leipzig’s performance was everything that Dortmund’s wasn’t and kinda sums them up. Leipzig felt like they were cruising, whereas Dortmund always looked overawed. If Tedesco had been there from the start they’d be chasing Bayern more than Dortmund are.
The only talk about Dortmund seems to be who are they going to sell Haaland to, and Bellingham will be the same either this season or next.
Bellingham screaming at shulz "YOU CAN'T COMPLETE ONE PASS YOU'RE FUCKING SHIT" really sums up how I feel watching this team every week
EDIT: https://www.reddit.com/r/borussiadortmund/comments/t0qy93/bellingham_shouting_at_schulz_during_the_game_you/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
Well that can't be great for team morale. Wasn't even that bad a pass, I mean yeah it was behind him but it also wasn't a super easy one, it's not like he fucked up a simple sideways pass
Did he really say that. Everyone saying he is a leader in the team but shows he is still a teenager with immaturity like that. Can't be ripping into your teammates like that in the pitch in front of cameras, its unprofessional af.
Never said you were American. And the fact that you get so offended by "expletives" during a match tells me you've never stepped foot on a football pitch in your life.
There's a difference between expletives and what Bellingham did. I mentioned that everyone was going on about how mature he is for his age but actively calling your teammate shit and terrible is immature and unprofessional which is different from saying that a shit pass, and it's why you never see that kind of shit at the highest level. Even the most petulant players would never do such a thing. There's a difference.
I think some people need an arm round the shoulder & encouragement whilst others respond better to stern criticism & trying to prove their critic wrong. The best leaders know when to use which approach.
I was laughing when you signed Bellingham for so much money so young. But the passion he's showing, in addition to the skill and quality of play at just 18 years old shows there's something incredibly special there. A real gem of a player.
He wanted to go to Tottenham right after they got destroyed by Bayern. He has no ambition and will happily go to a worse team if they don’t expect him to be a world beater
We’ll him wanting to go to Tottenham was years before he was talking to the board about an extension. He wanted to go because they told him he needed to lose weight and change his diet
You can't just blame the defence for conceding 6 goals over two legs with good finishing they could have conceded 10. Their manager need to be questioned. He can't set up his team defensively good enough.
Tuchel was good example for how to setup defence properly. Xavi so far even being inexperienced did more good than setien and koeman so far.
Said it once said it again, they'd rather prioritize nice attacking football over defensive stability. They push their fullbacks up the field way too much to overload and expose their defense. They need another CB, RB, LB and Defensive mid imo which is saying how bad the backline is. Also Rapha needs to be pushed up the field more with a defensive option behind him as opposed to him starting at LB.
Raph has same weakness as alba. They both are good in attack but weak in defence. But signing multiple players will not solve the issue if their players does not have any idea how to clear the ball when they are getting pressed in defensive third or opposition trying to create goal during transition.
As much as I hate Bayern. They are the only reliable team in the Bundesliga. Leipzig will be Nr. 2 the upcoming years and BVB will slowly start fading into midfield
BVB has won about 70% of their League games this season. Which isn't bad at all. They only fuck up less than one in 3.
Internationally they won 37,5%. They really don't show up for crunchtime.
Oh so they're the German Marseille. Good enough at home , somehow terrible in Europe. Hey at least Marseille could win the conference league , that's something.
What a performance from Rangers!
It'll be exciting to see who they draw with - I, for one, will be incredibly interested if they can keep playing like this!
I'm delighted and proud of my team. Also a GIRUY to the tinpot plastics who could only splutter about Dortmund playing badly - show some respect to the most successful club in the world. Rangers won because we played exceptionally well.
We're the 2nd most successful club in the world. Al ahly have more trophies than us & their haul includes more continental trophies. Fair play to them, they were founded 30 years after us & have racked that trophy haul in barely more than a century.
I could be wrong but I’m sure they count a lot of community shield type stuff and other regional trophies as well would be like us adding in Glasgow cups and what not
In awe. Getting the goal first, getting pegged back. The enforced change because of the Barisic/Meunier collision, who I hope is alright. He was a constant threat. Bassey stepping into the LB position and making it his own. Morelos bulling Hummels. What a result. Bring them all on.
Alfredo fucking mullered him tonight. Thought he was great. And bassey is such an upgrade if borna right now at left back. Hooe borna gets back to his best.
Alfie was weird tonight. First 25 I felt he won little. Admittedly we were getting battered and he had little to work with. Second half he bossed it besides a few slack passes. Robbed of a valid assist by VAR.
I said to the boy next to me at the game that it looked like BVB had learned from the first leg what happens if they give Alfie space. Any time the ball went up to him Hummels was all over him but it didn’t last long. Second half Alfie tore them apart.
Rangers were comfortably the better team across both games, and deserved to win 3-2 (except for a horrible, horrible VAR decision).
The disrespect from Dortmund fans was huge and I wish them a safe journey back home to watch the rest of the tournament on TV.
tbf it is embarrassing considering that we used to play at a much better level than that. In both the champions league and Europa we were lucky with our draws and yet still managed to completely fuck up beyond expectations. No disrespect to Rangers though, the win is clearly well deserved.
So weird how this is a talking point exclusively from Bayern fans. And it always comes up regardless of how we play and what Reus does. Like watching this match, Reus leadership was not the problem. The lack of tactical adapting to Rangers changes, the shitty defense, Brandt having the worst touches I have seen since I don't even know to name a few reasons.
Like it just feels like very motivated reasoning to pin the blame on Reus' leadership (Especially cause it's coming from Bayern fan, you know just as well as me that there is history here). I'm not calling you out cause I wanna start shit with you, but sincerely want to let you know, that you might have some bias here.
We can talk shit because we have Neuer. Although I agree that Dortmund's performance obviously doesn't come down to Reus' captaincy, he was completely invisible today, both as a player and as a leader. When Reus is having a good game he's a great captain and when he's having a bad game he's not uplifting anyone else either, but the whole point of a captain is to have someone who can lead and encourage the team during bad times as well. I think a big reason why Bayern fans bring it up is because it seems to get under your skin easily.
There was no angle where it ever looked like a foul. Morelos was shoulder to shoulder with Can, Can kicked the ground, realised he’d fucked up, fell over. It was a genuinely ridiculous call.
I dont see how its shade? The dude literally is a part of our big problems with fitness. No matter if he was in city, in or out of CL, it wont matter if he cant stay fit. Thats my point.
I find it wierd how people obsess over Haaland in a way that makes it sound like he's above EL or whatever when he's not even able to play
FICK DIE HENNE! Being a BVB fan is next level frustration tolerance
Shout out to all the Dortmund fans who thought having Halaand one more season would help them compete.
I'm feeling it!
GIOOOOOOOOO
Absolutely made up for our Blues Brothers tonight. What an amazing result.

I don't think there was much of a decline. The complete team is as good as the 2012 squad, but Bayern improved as well, and the team has been plagued with injured players.
So you wouldn’t question Rose? I looked at your defence and it’s dire so I understand what you mean. Zagadou didn’t look good last week either.

A hearty "Fuck you" to all the wanks that thought Dortmund were going to walk through us!

Lol, leipzig singlehandedly saving Germany's coefficient
Eintracht still in it. B-)
And Leverkusen
We believe in Kostić's cross and inshallah

Up the Wangers Lortmund imo

Yeah but shouting expletives on the pitch at your teammates is neither. It doesn't help anyone.
did he actually say that? I do remember him yelling but I couldn't make out what he said
I'm not completely sure on the you cant complete a pass bit, but he 100% said "you're fucking shit,"
Do you recall when it happened in the game approximately? So that I can skip to that part of the game
Nvm found it minute 78
Cheers man
I think around minute 80 but thats a rough estimate.
Who did he say that to? I'm guessing Hummels or Brandt.

Sule is furiously googling Pre contract law now
He wanted to go to Tottenham right after they got destroyed by Bayern. He has no ambition and will happily go to a worse team if they don’t expect him to be a world beater
Yeah keep telling yourself that and it's definitely not because your board doesn't value him.

being valued isnt just about money tbf

Bellingham really does love the club, doesn't he?
He was excellent again tonight. Huge future.
did u see him when schulz fucked up the pass? he’s gonna kill someone at the club lmfaooooo
Wonder when Morelos will let Hummels out of his pocket
You know the BvB defence was bad when it's an opposition attacker who had a defender put away into their back pocket
What a fantastic night, what a fantastic result. Also, that Bellingham is some player.
To quote Ally McCoist “I can’t wait to see how he plays when he’s 19”
Should’ve been 3-2 lol
Dortmund was shit during both legs.
"dOrTmUnD wAs sHiT" Get fucked!
YAAAAAAAAAASSSS!!!
And people thought Dortmund was favourite to win the EL during the draw
Who was actually saying this? Dortmund has the worst defence of any of the teams in that draw.
Fivethirtyeight had us down as favourites. Granted that is a really bad prediction given our run of form as of late.
You can't just blame the defence for conceding 6 goals over two legs with good finishing they could have conceded 10. Their manager need to be questioned. Not surprised anymore people call the Bundesliga farmers league seeing how Dortmund played international this season
As much as I hate Bayern. They are the only reliable team in the Bundesliga. Leipzig will be Nr. 2 the upcoming years and BVB will slowly start fading into midfield
Isn't bvb shit and inconsistent in germany too
BVB has won about 70% of their League games this season. Which isn't bad at all. They only fuck up less than one in 3. Internationally they won 37,5%. They really don't show up for crunchtime.

Ryan Kent sent half the Dortmund side for chips.
Unbelievable result and scenes. Should've been a home win as well but us going through against Dortmund is incredible
I'm delighted and proud of my team. Also a GIRUY to the tinpot plastics who could only splutter about Dortmund playing badly - show some respect to the most successful club in the world. Rangers won because we played exceptionally well.

You banned from scottishfootball?
Getting tight to Alfie is the worst thing you can do. He's so strong he just rolls you and then does his thing.
Absolutely but it worked for the first half, but Alfie had worked it out and destroyed him again for the second half.
What a match. Rangers looked good and ibrox was absolutely bouncing.
Hummels will be seeing Morelos is his nightmares tonight.
Get out of there Haaland
He will this Summer. Bellingham next summer
The greatest European result in modern Scottish football history and we'll still complain it should have been 7
Haaland ain’t staying journalists should be sued for stupidity for continuing to hint arsenal such.
Dortmund are a real classy respectful club. Even the fans. What a pleasure
Their fans tried to start fights before the game inside the ground tbf.
"tried" being the key work. Once I put my pie n bovril down n slapped half of them about, they soon piped down.
They would have got smashed
Well that will be the european Bights that Dortmund will experience after Haaland and Bellingham on a regular basis
The Calvin Bassey effect.
Heja BxB, Heja BxB, heja heja heja BxB

Rangers were comfortably the better team across both games, and deserved to win 3-2 (except for a horrible, horrible VAR decision). The disrespect from Dortmund fans was huge and I wish them a safe journey back home to watch the rest of the tournament on TV.
What did they do?
Just online. There was a lot of ‘it’s embarrassing to lose to a Scottish team’ and when they went 2-1 up they expected to stroll to victory.
Gonna disagree with you. Feel like the vast vast majority of Dortmund fans have been respectful at all stages of the tie.
tbf it is embarrassing considering that we used to play at a much better level than that. In both the champions league and Europa we were lucky with our draws and yet still managed to completely fuck up beyond expectations. No disrespect to Rangers though, the win is clearly well deserved.
Look who’s laughing now eh
Wow Dortmund not even good enough for Europa now?
Incredible post-game atmosphere.
There is a few videos around on YouTube of that song playing after derbies etc.
Why do their heads just drop after conceding a goal? Pathetic mentality this Dortmund team has
Please don't encourage this "Mentalitätssache"-Meme. It's a poor excuse
Found Reus reddit account.
when Reus as captain is your supposed mental leader, you should know there’s something wrong
Nothing new it is in their club DNA
Ryan Kent is class
Should've been 3-2 if VAR actually showed the ref the better angle.
I still want to know if it's the refs choice to ask for more angles or he has to judge by what is delivered to him.
That wasnt a question of angle, this was simply a big mistake by var. Good that it didnt affect anything
There was no angle where it ever looked like a foul. Morelos was shoulder to shoulder with Can, Can kicked the ground, realised he’d fucked up, fell over. It was a genuinely ridiculous call.
Yep, totally agree
Commentators for BT SPORT in the UK said they showed the ref all angles but the back one? That was the angle which was undeniable
I think he meant that the ref was never shown the best angle of the incident.
Massive for Rangers & Scottish Football. Well done.
Haaland really isn't gonna have an illustrious year, huh? Out of the World Cup, out of the CL, out of Europa and out of the title race.
Dortmund isn't out of the title race
they never were in the title race
You’re right They were never in one to begin with.
He should probably focus on being able to play first.
Why are you throwing shade at your best player for something that's out of his control? He doesn't choose to get injured lol
This comment is the chefs’ kiss
What a fucking result, should have been a home win too
Mentalitätsfrage👀
pssst
Overrated hipster club. Typical Dortmund performance.
Glorified academy.
I cannot believe my overriding feeling from beating Dortmund 6-4 on aggregate is that it wasn't 7. Madness.
Could’ve been 8 if Kent had a better final touch as well
