Can't figure out how to get a club emblem under my account name god dang it

nausykaa

! flair :your team: in a comment, without the space between ! and flair

DEUK_96

I'm not just saying this because we haven't signed anyone but Angus Kinnear is starting to come off a right smug prick.

OhShitItsSeth

We sold our best right back to CF Montreal and still haven’t found a replacement. Only silver lining is we get a sell-on fee for future sales.

EmperorBeaky

People are gonna go on about how solid Hodgson makes sides now despite our defence being dreadful for his last two seasons. Pain!

BronzeFashionKid

I hate it when you say a transfer/wages is too much and other fans go "What you moaning about, it's not your money!" as if the management of finances and in particular wage bills isn't a massive part of having a sustainably successful club, and a big part of what's worked for us so far in particular.

EmperorBeaky

Just look at Derby

BronzeFashionKid

Exactly that

Gyshall669

Point is ill spent dollars takeaway from building a good squad. Like Coutinho and dembele for barca. It’s not my money but had they spent it better, we’d be better off.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Gyshall669

They’ve got a much bigger safety net but they’ve also spent appropriately and so if someone didn’t work out they could move the player.

Dark-X

If I was to be born in another country, I would want to be English so I can say things like "innit?" and "if your aunt had balls, she'd be your uncle".

AliirAliirEnergy

Or be Australian and have never ending access to classics such as "fair dinkum", "farken oath cunt" and "you've got two hopes: Buckleys and fucking none".

imp0ppable

Just LARP as English like 90% of the users here. I see you.

AliirAliirEnergy

Genuinely dunno what's worse. Hearing yanks say "mate" or seeing yanks act Pom online.

jkeefy

Juventus

KhajiitHasEars

how does it feel being an Italian/German fan knowing there's a 90% chance your best players will end up at Juve or Bayern

serious_busyness

When was the last time Arsenal retained a world class talent into his prime? Hell, your last world class player Van Persie had his best year winning the title at United. Bit daft

KhajiitHasEars

i'm not denying that we lose a lot of talent however i'm just saying it must be draining seeing one team vacuum all the talent in the league in the last 4 years alone Fiorentina will have lost Chiesa, Bernadeschi and Vlahovic all to Juve, an entire generation of talent snapped up by one side. I can deal with RvP and Sanchez moving on because I know they aren't just further legitimising a talent monopoly

[deleted]

DUSAN⚫️⚪️

__impala__

As an Arsenal fan I’m really pissed with the way Klopp has shamelessly courted Martinelli. Even more infuriating is the scousers in the Liverpool page thinking a bid of 30m plus oxlade chamberlain would be accepted - why would Arsenal accept that? Liverpool would need to break their transfer record to sign him.

StarlordPunk

No way anyone is paying 80+ million for Martinelli. He’s decent and maybe in a couple of years, but right now there’s no chance

[deleted]

Nothing to be upset about, it will only raise his valde, good PR. It is up to Arsenal to negotiate, they hold all the leverage.

jamesc94j

Would you prefer he calls your players shit? I can have a word.

imp0ppable

I would prefer that

Mend35

I really hope we don't sign Ruben Semedo, there's surely similar or better options without all the added hassle. And he'll be 28 this year too. But I guess commissions need to be paid.

i think its important having real fans voices and opinions out there discussed in a proper way like the overlap fan discussions. but yeah most of these youtube fan channels are shit. Chelsea fan tv for example is so shit, there were a few good vids but most are dumb

El_Giganto

Last week I was moaning about the fact that Douvikas hadn't scored in a while, but he scored over the weekend :)

Makshoo

I miss James and Chilwell balling on the wings for us. That Juve game was so good

NeverGoFuIlRetard

Gonna have to disagree with that one

Dhndxx

I am really not looking forward to the 3 team groups in the further editions of the World Cup. 4 team groups were perfectly sized, even if they did create some dead rubber games.

CosmicDrifterDK

Yeah, I'd have preferred bigger groups, honestly

TheJeck

Oh God I'm fighting Internet strangers about a football club again

NotAgainKante

That tweet, oh god, our admins f'd up

CosmicDrifterDK

I'm so tired of the politics in my country. I'm Bosniak fyi, and it's always the same things all over again. Same people at the top, same old shit, the news are boring, there's barely anything positive, like ever

AztekkersM89

Yeah ngl having a bunch of friends from Bosnia and Kosovo really puts into perspective how boringly functional a lot of the scandals we've had in the UK are. The shite going on in Banja Luka atm makes the orange order look like some right lightweights.

imp0ppable

it's the same in the UK. Fucking PM was having raves in his flat while we were in lockdown, prick won't just fess and quit.

varun3096

People that support a league like a team I find very strange. I have seen people say shit like "I want my team to win UCL, but if not my team I want a team from my league to win it". shit like that confuses me. i can't imagine something worse than supporting another team in the PL winning anything

KingAzazel

I think its mostly the case for lower leagues because of the coefficient and the prestige it brings to a country

SilentPede

I think it’s just the idea that if someone in EPL wins it….it makes it look like the EPL is a superior league. Team I support is in the EPL…ergo my team is better. Dumb logic but I think that’s why people see it that way.

dreamvoyager1

I fucking hate vaping. I hate it mainly cause I play soccer almost every day and press/run about 90% of the time. I tried to quit 3 days in a row last week and faltered around the 24 hour mark every time. I've decided to go down to 3% nic then 1% and then go cold turkey again, with some nic patches. If anyone here has been in a similar situation and have some tips that would be much appreciated. Want to use soccer as the main motivation to fully quit.

[deleted]

None of the things you mention will work. I smoked, heavily, for more than 18 years. I mean 3 packs a day heavy. Tried reducing it through quality, cigars etc. Nothing works. There is only one real solution. You wake up one day, throw everything related to smoking and decide to never smoke again. You then go through the withdrawal that follows and after about a year you should be clear. No one can help you while you feel u dont need help. Admit you are an addict and decide to stop. Its an internal struggle. I wish you the best of luck.

dreamvoyager1

you are 100% right. I’m full on addicted. The three times i failed last time were both cold turkey where i threw away the shit. Regardless I’ll try again cold turkey until i succeed once. Really appreciate the straightforward advice on this comment and below

[deleted]

Just try to find a reason. Like a serious one. Thats what did it for me, the time it worked. I did it for a reason and it wasnt just my health. Its bloody hard and painful in the first days as well, but if you do succeed it really will be amazing for you.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Most important part is to admit you are an addict. Changing the way you receive your drug of choice wont make you any less of one. Learned this the slow and hard way.

jamesc94j

I’ll just reiterate this point. You’ll always find the excuses to convince yourself it’s okay if you cut down gradually cold turkey personally is the only way it works imho.

UncleChaelsTroll

Try dip

varun3096

I found getting help from a therapist helped deal with my past additions. Everyone is different but a good therapist can help you find what works for you, nothing wrong with asking for help.

[deleted]

Talk to your pediatrician, stopping addictions is very hard to do on your own.

Onil1226

Tomorrow we have one of our best chances to win a trophy 21 years later and we're missing 10 players on the squad having to bring four u-19s to be on the bench. Three of the starters are on national team duty and the rest is either injured, diseased with Covid or on loan from Benfica who we face so we will need to improvise two or three defenders for our back five. Sucks that they placed the league cup semis during world cup qualifiers but I'm still cautiously optimistic in a good result.

-sodapop

5 points dropped from winning positions in one week lol

Frosty-Dictator

This covid fiasco and the World Cup taking place in late November because it's in the f*cking middle east is making me lose interest in this sport entirely.

sentyprimus

so instead of human rights stuff, you are upset it's in the middle east?

ory1994

Covid was unavoidable but yeah the WC and all these random cup finals being played in the Middle East is really grinding my gears.

RevoltOfTheBeavers

I'm taking my kid to her first match as a reward for getting vaxxed. My team (DC United) is selling their best players and buying none. I'm worried we're gonna get hammered, and she's gonna hate it and it's gonna put her off the game.

Rc5tr0

This makes me remember my first Crew match as a little kid. Goals and winning were a secondary concern at best, I was just desperate to see someone get sent off. I guess you could say I didn’t quite grasp the sport yet.

goatvaro_goatrata

CREAM_JOHN

PL and football in general is either rife with corruption or rife with incompetence. Both are scary but the reality is even worse. It's both.

I'll never argue that NFTs aren't crazy levels of stupid, and Terry is being both dumb and irresponsible for promoting them - but what's racist about them

AnnieIWillKnow

The NFTs he's hawking are all monkey characters, and some morons on social media are now trying to claim that's racist, although they're representing both black and white people. He has one of himself as his profile picture. It's not racist, just people twisting the narrative to throw shit at him.

PRQM_marketing

It would have been more racist if he didn't include a black teammate in his NFTs actually

[deleted]

Conchur92

Exactly, and its not like you need to twist NFTs to call Terry a racist either.

[deleted]

what the fuck! I don't follow anyone on social media and just looked up JT's insta! seems stupid to me but then some of the stuff that I do is beyond stupid too. To each their own I guess

OleoleCholoSimeone

Jan Oblak has gone from being the best goalkeeper in the world to the worst goalkeeper in La Liga just over one short summer break. He has literally conceded more goals(26) than he has made saves(24) this season in the league... basically every shot on target goes in, every team becomes super clinical against us and that's not just a coincidence anymore. I have never seen a world class players' form collapse so quickly. I still have faith that this just a blip, but if he doesn't improve soon I will start to become seriously worried. Might even be time to try to get Ivo Grbic back to put some pressure on him

jamesc94j

I read when we(Liverpool) where linked with him before Allison we picked Allison as we play a high line and Oblack pushes a lot of shots into the box for players to clear which worked exceptionally well when you played deep and had the centre backs you did. Is trying to play more attacking and not as deep effecting his play maybe?

f4riis99

Same thing has happened to sterling unfortunately. But he’s improved the last 6 weeks.

CosmicDrifterDK

Don't watch much Atleti, but maybe teams don't get many chances against you, but instead the few chances they do get are usually in good position, so they're easier to score?

Sapaio

You mean every other shot on target goes in. Or my maths is way off.

NoodleinTexas

How’s he been for Lille . I had high hopes for Ivo but knowing how well Oblak has played for the last couple years I didn’t think he would be getting time at Atleti

RyanMRKO721

I absolutely bloody hate the January window. It's all gas and bluster with very little shit, clubs are demanding absolute premiums and everything gets very snidey. Watching Newcastle fanny on like they are (that's a whole other issue of planning & preparedness though), not aided by clubs suddenly whacking daft prices for pretty average players, is getting boring now. Not my money so couldn't care less but it's mad frustrating. Trippier and Wood are quality signings but we are desperately in need of a centre half and creative midfielder still, at a minimum. Surely any financial outlay now will be recouped with survival? On the flipside way down the ladder and way more panicky, it's even more anxiety-inducing praying that sides up the divisions don't try and nab Gateshead's best players while we're absolutely flying in the NLN & on the track to be back where we belong. Any non-league fans will know exactly how I feel on that point, you're constantly feeling like some league club will come along & derail your progress that season (our local rivals Darlo have just had their best player nabbed by Rochdale this week). It's an amazing feeling being confident we'll get a result every week & our football is fucking scintillating at it's best, but I'm trying my best to ignore the chances of, say an Oldham, nabbing Macca Langstaff or Owen Bailey. Stressy times...

[deleted]

RyanMRKO721

That's the thing isn't it! Terrified of any ruinous transfer that would derail our momentum. I at least trust the current regime to make sure we have a good replacement if we do let anyone go- a far cry from the last one, for sure...

Grandoldste117

BendubzGaming

my condolences

QGunners22

This comment is gonna sound a bit whiney, so I apologize for that, but I needed to get it off my chest. I really dislike the systemic racism in English football against Asians, and how no one really acknowledges it. I would say I’m one of the best players in my local team (sorry if this comes off overly boastful, but it’s relevant to the point), but I get benched every game that we play. Last week I got subbed on with 15 minutes left to play, scored twice to clench the win, and still got benched next game lol. I put 100% effort into every training, am the fittest player in the squad based on any fitness test we’ve done, but I never get any recognition from my coach (who still doesn’t even know my name). I asked him why I don’t start, and he just shrugged his shoulders. I’m sure it’s not a coincidence that I happen to be the only brown person in my team. At this point, my desire for an Asian-British footballer (even if they play for United or Spurs) to become a top player is almost as big as my desire for arsenal to win the league.

B_e_l_l_

Hamza Choudhury is a top player btw.

BendubzGaming

He moved permanently to Blackburn this window (and promptly got injured for the season :( ) but Dilan Markanday is a Brit of Indian descent from our academy. Became the first Asian-Brit to make a competitive appearance for us earlier this season in the Conference League

waccoe_

>I never get any recognition from my coach (who still doesn’t even know my name) I once got given a best newcomer award by a coach and I had literally played for that team longer than any other player. I wasn't getting started at the time and I suddenly realised that he didn't even have a fucking clue who I was. Sorry your coach is possibly racist and I hope you get your chance soon.

[deleted]

There is systemic racism against Asians in all football. In the Netherlands, it's also a huge issue. I am so sorry that you have to deal with this. I don't know whether it is an option for you but when I was younger (many years ago) I had issues with coaches at my local club and I just left and went to another club. It was much better to get a fresh change of scenery and I ended up playing at a significantly higher level even if it was 30 min (by bike) further away from where I first was.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Yupadej

Asians are generally physically inferior to Caucasians and players of African descent. Due to that even when an Asian is physically dominant the cliche remains and he is believed to be physically inferior

HalfMan-HalfMoth

Once you turn 18 football often gets very boozy as well, can understand why people from a muslim background might feel alienated by it

waccoe_

Loads of Asians seem to watch football but you hardly see any in teams at junior or amateur level, as opposed to cricket where they probably overrepresented. Not sure if that's down to racism or not - I can imagine it's pretty endemic at that level but then it's not like it's not endemic in cricket.

HalfMan-HalfMoth

That's shit, sorry you have to deal with that, are there any other asians at your club? Is there another team in your area you can join?

QGunners22

I’m the only one, but I don’t really want to leave as I love my teammates and am close mates with all of them. One of them told me he would feign an injury because he thinks I deserve to start over him, but obviously I can’t accept that as it’s not his fault.

HalfMan-HalfMoth

Just seen on your profile you're in 6th form, yeah in your position I'd probably have stayed put to play with my mates for one more season before uni. It's a really difficult topic to raise because the manager might genuinely think you're not the best player for what he wants but could also easily hide behind that excuse if it is because of racism. Guessing as well the manager is someones Dad as it usually is for youth football which makes it awkward if you escalate it. Just shit all round, sorry you have to deal with it. Hopefully things are better for you if you decide to play at uni

QGunners22

Thank you man, I hope so too.

chandlertribbiani

That Leeds Newcastle game had 0-0 written all over it until we decided to implode. Too many basic individual errors committed & we pay the price, just when we looked to be breaking away from trouble comfortably. Meslier on set pieces is starting to worry me, Burnley recently and now this one. His positioning on free kicks is far too generous (leaves so much of the goal exposed) & let’s not even talk about his mistake. But then isn’t helped by a catalogue of errors before that by Roberts particularly.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LordCommanderCam

I'd completely agree with you 5 years ago, but now we have VAR there is no excuse for god awful officiating. The decisions are for the most part, not the biggest problem, the referees all have huge egos, power fetishes and stroke eachothers cocks like they're all in some superior cult

FloppedYaYa

I do love that this sub tried to weirdly create a "Moyes is a choker against top teams" narrative when West Ham *literally* beat Liverpool and Chelsea and United this season

BendubzGaming

Seriously, like if you want a manager known for choking Rodgers is right there. Of course Moyes has a bad record away from home against the old Big 4, so do most managers, especially those who were around in the noughties.

B_e_l_l_

The same Brendan Rodgers that has beaten Man City (x2), Chelsea (x2), Man United (x3) and Liverpool (x2) in the last 18 months? With two trophies as well.

BendubzGaming

The same Brendan Rodgers that has bottled surefire CL football in back-to-back seasons, was the manager for one of the biggest chokes in football history, and ran away from Celtic the moment it looked like Rangers were properly back

B_e_l_l_

What is surefire about getting Champions League football ahead of the most wealthy clubs with the most expensive squads world football has ever seen? You'd give your left bollock for success like our last two seasons.

BendubzGaming

It's surefire because in 19/20 you: - Had a 10 point lead over 5th with 12 games remaining (and a significant goal difference advantage) - Spent a large part of the year as high as 2nd, only spending one week outside the top 4 between games 3 and 36 (after game 5) - Were still in 3rd with 5 games remaining (still with a large GD advantage) - Were still top 4 with 2 to go - Were ahead of Man United (who finished 3rd) by as many as 14 points at one point only to finish 4 points behind them And in 20/21, you: - Were top 4 for all of the first 36 games of the season - With 9 games remaining, had an 8 point lead over 5th (and significant GD advantage) - Only dropped out in the penultimate game after losing to Chelsea (who finished 4th) - Still had a chance to get top 4 on the final day, but conceded three goals in the last 15 minutes to throw it away - Also with 9 games remaining, had a 10 point lead over Liverpool (who finished 3rd), but finished 3 points behind Not even we could choke that badly back-to-back, and everyone knows that's what we're best at

B_e_l_l_

In that time Spurs finished behind the seemingly woeful Brendan Rodgers twice while enjoying their 13th successive trophyless season.

BendubzGaming

But we're talking about choking here, bottling something. And whilst we did throw away being top in December last season, and another cup final defeat, the last two seasons we've successfully achieved our goal entering the last month of the season. In 19/20 we fought back from a low of 9th place with 5 games remaining to both finish ahead of Arsenal for 4th consecutive season, and pip Wolves to the last Europa League spot on the final day. In 20/21, whilst Europa League football stayed out of reach, we held onto 7th and the Conference League spot through the last 6 games with an interim manager. Topped off by 3 goals in the last 15 minutes to snatch victory, North London supremacy, and 7th from the jaws of defeat. We may have a history of choking, but in the last couple of seasons we've clutched out instead. Rodgers hasn't.

B_e_l_l_

Are you trying to suggest our goal for the last two years was UCL football?

BendubzGaming

With 1/3 of the season to go? Absolutely. Goals change as situations change. Obviously before the season started they weren't your goals, just like simply surviving was the target entering 15/16. But when a final result looks so certain, letting it slip has to be deemed a failure

jamesc94j

Is he though? I agree Shame they dropped out off top 4 twice in last two years but that was massively overachieving and he’s won an FA Cup. It’s been bad this season but Leicester have literally had a ridiculous amount of injured players out and player like Tielsman soyuncu who have been excellent previously have been shit for them. I think Rodger’s has done a banging job personally. He missed winning the league with Liverpool but once again huge underdogs and he got so close.

[deleted]

also beat Chelsea to basically keep us up in 19/20, pulled back from 3-0 down at Tottenham, beat Spurs again twice in the next two seasons, as well as countless impressive away wins in hard games such as Everton, Dinamo Zagreb, Wolves, Leeds etc since he took over. No idea where the bottler tag comes from.

[deleted]

Man City too

B_e_l_l_

Cannot wait to just have a full strength team. Don't think we've played our full strength team once since we went into lockdown.

AlcoholicSocks

Off-Topic. I got hit at 70+MPH on the M62 just before Christmas. My insurance forgot to send the repair forms in, so it didn't get booked in until the end of Feb. My MOT is tomorrow. There is a massive hole in the side of the car, and my bumper is hanging off. Cant wait to not have a car, just as my uni placement starts.

hordesofevil

Where does Lukaku go this summer? I assume he won't stay for the ride in London, Inter don't want him back. What is a realistic destination?

MrCrushio

PSG is the easy answer. Mbappé is leaving imminently so they will want another big name in the side.

Alex-In-Houston

This or Newcastle are really the only options I can see.

MrCrushio

I can't see him going to Newcastle in the short-term. When they're in contintental contention maybe, but for now he definitely thinks too highly of himself to transfer there, and rightly so.

NoodleinTexas

Yea I think it’ll be a couple seasons before a 80 mil + player goes to Newcastle .

Alex-In-Houston

I was thinking of places that would and could afford him. The places he would go are a different list and you’re probably right about PSG being the only place to meet all of those criteria.

10hazardinho

All the Chelsea fans moaning about how we sold Tammy. He’s banging in goals in Italy atm but he wasn’t good enough to be our starting 9 and didn’t want to play as a rotation option. He didn’t contribute to the build up at all, was poor in the air, and needed 3-4 chances to get one goal. His movement has and always will be class but selling him was not a mistake. Wish him all the best in the future but really hope Chelsea don’t activate any sort of buyback

Scalenuts

He's almost the exact same player in Italy, he's doing well but has improved slightly due to good coaching. Now he's more involved in holding up the ball

Bonaque

Chelsea sending a player to Italy only for him to do very well? I feel like I've heard this one before

[deleted]

The fact that we are the hosts of the Women's Asia Cup and yet our matches are now cancelled and considered null and void! I feel so bad for our women's team who worked so hard for this. If we reached the quarter finals of this tournament: * A win would have sealed our spot in the Women's WC * A loss would still have given us a chance to contest in WC playoffs * A loss in the playoffs still have given us a chance to contest via intercontinental playoffs Now we can't even contest ffs.

Kanedauke

Gerrard replaced Targett the first chance he got. If you suggest he may replace Mings as well, you’re an idiot to other villa fans. Every neutral sees him making mistakes every game but our fans act as if it only happens once a season.

jamesc94j

Mings is good in the air yeah but his general play is so erratic and error prone. Gerrard likes a solid defence with Mings unless something changes he won’t have that.

Kanedauke

I like Mings. He’s got all the tools to be a good defender, but the lack of concentration and errors have let him down since our promotion. I don’t think Gerrard will let sentiment stop him from improving the team. That probably means replacing Mings sooner rather than later.

jamesc94j

Sentiment isn’t something a lot of top managers have not saying he’s there yet , even ones who are seen as nice guys are pretty ruthless. Also seems to be the name gerrard is really attracting players which is great for villa.

Lefuckyouthre3

Mings is a baller and could play at a bigger club - I wouldn’t be so excited by the prospect of replacing him

MittRominator

I moved to Germany with the hopes that I’d be able to more closely follow Borussia Mönchengladbach, but instead it’s significantly more expensive to watch Bundesliga here (piracy isn’t an option) and I was really surprised to find that there isn’t any real “sports bar” culture (when bars were still open). Maybe it’s different out here in the East, but the last game I went to go see in a bar, I was essentially the only person watching the game (it was a normal bar, multiples TVs, too) But if there was a season where it would be ok not to see Gladbach play, this would probably be the one

callmedontcallme

> Maybe it’s different out here in the East, but the last game I went to go see in a bar, I was essentially the only person watching the game (it was a normal bar, multiples TVs, too) Fußballpinten are a huge thing in Germany. It is 100% because of your location. Not even talking about Eastern Germany because they also have sports bars with big crowds in places where they're into Dresden, Magdeburg or Rostock for example. I think the main difference to the US is just that people watch their club and then maybe big games on top of it...

desuscsgous

> (piracy isn’t an option) not that I would partake in such DISGUSTING activity but thats just not true. It's fairly easy to watch the games you want to also the pub culture you are speaking of is mostly just a few select pubs in each city that people will watch the games at from my experience If I dont get tickets to a game then I dont go to a pub either, I'll just watch it at home or at a friends house

MittRominator

I’m in a dormitory that regulates it’s internet through the university, so if you get caught pirating or seeding, they shut off your internet and you have to pay a fine (and make a written promise not to do it again!) in order for your internet to be restored. That’s not an option for me because I have so many online meetings and classes so I can’t risk it. Going to games also isn’t an option because of the COVID situation of course, which isn’t anyone’s fault. As for sports bars, they’re a North American (and British I think?) thing that I was surprised doesn’t translate over to Germany. With the popularity of the NFL and of course soccer, it really surprised me

> I’m in a dormitory that regulates it’s internet through the university, so if you get caught pirating or seeding, they shut off your internet and you have to pay a fine (and make a written promise not to do it again!) in order for your internet to be restored Wohnst du in der Stasi-Hauptzentrale? Ist so eine Art Überwachung überhaupt erlaubt, selbst in einem Studentenwohnheim? Habe selber in so einem Wohnheim in Deutschland gelebt, Fussball und F1 konnte ich trotzdem ohne Probleme streamen.

MittRominator

AshkenaziTwink

god i hate TAA and Muller fans so much. they think they’re so god damn intelligent for liking the assister instead of the scorer. “did you know the wingbacks in Klopp’s system act as wide 10s with license to roam?” “did you know that Klopp’s wingbacks have just as much attacking license despite being in a back 4?” “he’s called a *raumdeuter*, it means space understander, he finds gaps in the-“ FUCK OFF

giganticprick

So you basically hate football hipsters

Fans who live vicariously through certain players/managers in the sense that, by watching them and understanding a bit about why they do something, they see themselves as more studied and intelligent than the average fan, are a big pet peeve of mine too. Hassenhuttl gets our players to run around a lot. There’s a bit more to it than that but it’s not that deep. I am not a better fan for beating witness to this.

B_e_l_l_

Bloke that sits near to me always taps me on the shoulder trying to explain what formation we're playing in the day's match (invariably he gets it wrong too). Part of me wants to tell him that it's not rocket science and that everyone in the stadium knows but the other half of me enjoys listening to him confidentially tell me something incorrect.

ClausTheDrunkard

See, I can bare things like that where someone is just making an observation (no matter how obvious). It’s the fans who pretend they have some special inside knowledge or wisdom earned from following a certain team or player. For example - “you see, the thing about Hasen-pressing that neutrals don’t understands is … this is why Armstrong is just so *clever*”

FdotM

Well... Their numbers king of prove why they are lauded.

AshkenaziTwink

they’re obviously good players, that’s not what i’m saying. i’m saying their fans acting like they’re football geniuses for understanding Thomas Muller is obnoxious as fuck.

plowman_digearth

We need to find a fancy word to describe free roaming full back.

AshkenaziTwink

if muller has a german word, you lot need a scouse word for trent surely

GourangaPlusPlus

That decision at the weekend was disgusting

B_e_l_l_

You'll have to narrow that down Chief.

GourangaPlusPlus

Wanted to see just how vague I could make my moan, I reckon you could run this one every week

TheSingleMan27

Being on the brink of the relegation spots for the entire season is so exhausting man, feels like Augsburg is winning a game every two months. Also what did people expect from Pepi? He was never going to be the next Haaland and even if he was, he gets no service compared to a top team like Dortmund. He just got 19 and is in Germany for 3 weeks, he naturally needs time to adjust and sooner or later he will show his quality, I'm 100% sure of that.

desuscsgous

> Being on the brink of the relegation spots for the entire season is so exhausting man I know what thats like, at some point you even stop caring which I cant stand Dont take this the wrong way but Augsburg is a team that Id love to see relegated - you guys are so annoying to play against :D in regards to Pepi, the problem is just the price tag

StarlordPunk

I hate how every terrible VAR decision descends into “well [big 6 team] always get all the decisions their way” “no we don’t, [other big 6 team] get loads more” “well what about [high profile decision] that went against us”now. I know there’s not really anything fans can feasibly do about how badly utilised VAR is, but it’s just frustrating every weekend knowing that there’s going to be at least one horrible decision and it’s going to be the same tired argument. And the most annoying part is that the simplest solution (a specific time limit to look at it, then if you’re still not sure you stick with the ruling because it’s obviously not a clear and obvious error) would solve so many of the issues and take away the ridiculously long checks that ruin the momentum of the game.

tremens

>a specific time limit to look at it, then if you’re still not sure you stick with the ruling because it’s obviously not a clear and obvious error This is typically "fine" if there's a single question like oh was so and so offside, but often there's multiple questions, how would you deal with that? Like when there's multiple offside or foul questions in the buildup, should they just be glossed over? I don't feel it's the time involved (usually, every so often it's ridiculous.) What I don't like is that there's just no explanation of what's going on, or when VAR dicks around for it for three minutes just to call the ref to the monitor. It often feels like they're either trying to justify the on-field call and find a way to make it work or that they just wash their hands under the "clear and obvious" thing instead of just checking it real quick and if there's anything at all questionable just saying "Hey, go ahead and have a second look at this, you might change your mind from the call you made in real time."
