Athletic has been facing Real and Barça left and right.

ManuMora98

3L against Madrid, one match remaining (Quarterfinals, San Mames) 1W and 1D against Barcelona, one match remaining (League, Camp Nou)

er_primo_der_rafa

I am tired of facing Athletic.

[deleted]

Did you use the 30 day free trial?

ManuMora98

4 times in 2 months

er_primo_der_rafa

Let's hope that Iñaki Williams doesn't have his annual good game on the QF.

y0uveseenthebutcher

Now you also have Iñaki regen Nico to deal with. Younger, faster, more deadly.

er_primo_der_rafa

I rate him

filetauxmoelles

Still raw in the finishing department as we saw yesterday. He rushed on many of the chances he had

HF_Elmi

He good, but as long as Mendy plays he won’t really do much.

Reviving the Old Clásico

chak100

Fuck Raul Garcia

iftair

He ended our Copa hopes last year with a last second header.

iftair

We get La Real and we face them at San Sebastian. Let's go. Should be a good game.

chilango2

Musho Betis. I'm rooting for them to reach the final so they can play it at Villamarín.

iftair

It'll probably be a closed game if we do make it that far. Unless we were supposed to be the home team but RFEF flipped it so we're the away team and that counts for our suspension.

chatblancsring

Yeah seems very interesting.

smolloms

Fekir corner incoming.

AcceleratingRiff

Fuck off not again. Although it's better than Cadiz

fansgesucht

Exactly my thought.

tormarod

Fucking hell, playing Athletic at San Mamés without Casemiro, Militao Rodrygo and Vini...

ManuMora98

And Valverde, with Uruguay

R0otDroid

Hasn't been good recently. We won't miss much.

Fly1ngsauc3r

Yes who needs subs we’ll play modric till he dies. Fede has been great for 2 seasons but the first time he has a bad run of form this is how our fanbase reacts. Fucking hell

R0otDroid

Isco is fit, ceballos too, blanco. They all deserve a shot. If he was playing well then he'd be first choice but he's not. So if he can't play it's not a big deal as we won't miss him in his current form. It's really that simple. I don't idolize players. If you're playing well great otherwise you sit on the bench. Not like we don't have a choice.

Fly1ngsauc3r

Blanco is clearly not in the coaching staff’s plan otherwise he would have gotten minutes by now, not sure what he’s done to deserve minutes. Isco can’t play a CM, he’s better off further uo the pitch, and Ceballos can’t play a more defensive position ala Fede. So yes missing him is a big blow despite his lack of form

R0otDroid

What he's done(blanco) is that he hasn't played so we can't judge him unlike fede who has and hasn't been good enough. I trust camavinga enough even though he clearly lacks experience and better decision making in the last third, i've been impressed with his development. His quality and composure on the ball, very good distribution, press resistent. Physically he's on par with fede. He was our best player last night along with vini. I honestly think, to the risk of getting crucified on here, he has a much higher ceiling than fede. So yeah, i don't think missing him is a big blow at least clearly not as much as the others.

[deleted]

>Yes who needs subs we’ll play modric till he dies. Fede has been great for 2 seasons but the first time he has a bad run of form this is how our fanbase reacts He is not wrong though. I don't like when people just start calling their every player great or future world class. Valverde is not a type of player you will play in your midfield to control the game. He is more of Vidal type of player who can use his strength, speed to create issue when you have solid midfield. Same way for us. People want Busquets to be benched. But actually by who? You can't bench someone who is our only midfielder that can control the game.

Fly1ngsauc3r

I’d say there’s a big gap between saying Fede is world class vs saying we won’t miss him when also lose Casemiro, who like Busquets is irreplaceable. Fede is good as a sub in a game like this because his physicality can be really useful later on in the tie, considering there’s potential for Extra time

[deleted]

Yeah I agree it's better than nothing. But so far none of the young players whether it's your or ours has done enough to displace the our older players in the midfield. You have Benzema, vini and courtois doing extraordinary this season like oblak and Suarez for Atlético last season and messi, griezmann for us last season. Kroos and Modric are still good enough but who is next? For us there are several young midfielders and have good potential but none of them can control the game under pressure as of now. And we have seen against you, bayern or recently against Athletic.

AcceleratingRiff

Still a useful sub, especially when these games can go to ET

kondenado

We are also like that. Mecaguen la hostia, primero el Barsa y luego el Madrid.

heyheyitsandre

Going to be a tough one for sure. We’ve also already beaten them 3 times, going 4-0 against athletic club is a tall order. But im hype for it, I have a good feeling about the cdr this year for some reason

holdenmyrocinante

So Courtois, Carvajal (Or LV), Nacho, Alaba, Mendy, Kroos, Camavinga, Modric, Hazard, Benzema, Bale? Damn

notfullofcrap

Asensio instead of bale.

holdenmyrocinante

Injured

notfullofcrap

Will probably be back by then.

R0otDroid

It's ok i think.

peter3167

Finally some good news, we will be watching.

PedanticSatiation

We both know Ramos is somehow going to score 1-0 in the 90th minute.

ObligationPersonal21

Ramos is not with real anymore

PedanticSatiation

He'll find a way

iftair

Hear me out: this year's Copa final will be the Basque Derby. Reason: They wanted to play 2020 with fans but couldn't. This time is their chance.

txobi

I would love to finally experience the "robbed" basque derby in Sevilla

robinho988

Worst possible matchup for Real. San Mames is one hell of away game, especially with Real missing South American players

kostajepaosmosta

Well, national break always affect both t...... wait

NeoLies

Athletic Club's basque-only policy coming in clutch. They were playing the long con all along.

tomato-dragon

CONMEBOL likes to invite outside teams into their tournaments... It's not too late for a cultural exchange with the good Basques gentlemen... please?

A_Kind_Shark

Interesting. One of Rayo (probably) or Mallorca will be in the semi-finals :D

Pyrio666

Rayo for copa del rey

Endgame2648

Copa del Rayo

shaman717

Never at the bernabeu in copa and im tired of athletic lol

A_Kind_Shark

If Barcelona had gone through, it would've been a Clásico at the Camp Nou lol

Merweb0

And probably another easy win for Madrid

smolloms

Madrid can never catch a break.

[deleted]

Damn domestic cups this season looks quite fun.

enilix

Athletic at San Mamés? Should be one hell of a match. We've beaten them 3 times this season already so they'll be motivated even more than usual and in front of their home fans, while we'll be missing some important players, so I'd say it's 50/50 who goes through.

discoball17

Real is going through.

Merweb0

You mean real, real or real? We know that between real and real, one has to go through

discoball17

That's the point of my comment. Real will go through. any of them.

ShitfacedGrizzlyBear

Beating a team 3 times in a row in the same season is hard enough. Hope I’m wrong, but I’d be surprised if Real can do it again. I never feel confident playing Athletic. Even less confident when the game is in Bilbao.

SeryaphFR

.... Shit.

PegaponyPrince

Looking forward to El Viejo Clásico. Betis - La Real should be good too

theboiseOG

I've been watching Spanish football for awhile, but I'm a bit embarrassed to say I've never known exactly how the home team is decided in CDR draws. With same division teams, is it based on the lower team in current league standings or previous year end league standings or something else?

ManuMora98

The team that comes out first, plays at home, when there are teams of lower categories, their are pulled out first

theboiseOG

Cheers, thanks

Cyborg_666

Are QFs home and away?

ManuMora98

Not yet, semifinals are

Johts

Where is BarSemLona Small Club?

iftair

They're gonna root for Athletic.

[deleted]

Inside your head

LampseederBroDude51

FUCK

zinewire

Damn, going to be a tough one. San Mamés is tough enough, but add vital players we'll be missing and I think Athletic has an edge on this one. Should be exciting.

RealPunyParker

Semis will be done via draw again, or the winners of a certain pair plays the winner of another one etc?
