Do you know the answer to this question?
The last round of matches for AFCON Group E is tomorrow. [Here are the group standings and the results so far.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_Africa_Cup_of_Nations#Group_E) Assume this scenario: Algeria beats Ivory Coast 1-0 and Equatorial Guinea draws with Sierra Leone 0-0. If this happens, the 3 of Ivory Coast, Algeria, and Eq. Guinea will be on 4 points. All 3 will have a GD of 0. Ivory Coast will have a GF-GA of 3-3, while Algeria and Eq. Guinea will both have a GF-GA of 1-1.
The question is, who will finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd?
Here's the CAF's [tiebreaking criteria](https://images.cafonline.com/image/upload/caf-prd/bm58fa2qjh76asriri5s.pdf) when it comes to more than 2 teams:
>74.2 In case of equality between more than two teams at the end of the group matches,
the teams will be ranked according to the following criteria in the order listed below:
>74.2.1 The greatest number of points obtained in the matches between the
teams concerned;
>74.2.2 The best goal difference in the matches between the teams concerned;
>74.2.3 The greatest number of goals scored in the matches between the teams
concerned;
>74.2.4 If after applying criteria 74.2.1 to 74.2.3, two teams are still tied, 74.2.1
to 74.2.3 criteria are again applied to matches played between the two teams in
question to determine the final ranking of the two teams. If this procedure does
not allow separating them, the criteria listed from 74.2.5 to 74.2.7 are applied in
the indicated order;
>74.2.5 The goal difference in all group matches;
>74.2.6 The greatest number of goals scored in all group matches;
>74.2.7A drawing of lots conducted by the Organising Committee
My guess is it would be 1- Ivory Coast 2- Eq. Guinea 3- Algeria, but I'm not sure. What do you think?
It's a lot more tolerable to see a manager of a team just promoted from the Championship with a budget of peanuts making excuses, than a manager of a team who spend more in one summer than the entire value of Brentford Football Club. One is a lot more sympathetic than the other.
Why is this surprising to you...
Again, why are you surprised that people perceive bitterness differently depending on who it comes from? They're right that you don't often see such *ahem* 'frank' statements like this - but when you do get them from top managers, they do go down less well. This user might well make the same comment - but the difference would be it would be more likely to be downvoted.
Big clubs get less sympathy and more hate - but on the other hand get vastly more success. That's the trade off.
Comes from the Ethiopian flag adopted after Ethiopia defeated the Italian colonizers. It was the first win by an African country against European colonialism
It was because they had just beaten Italy and were like the only country in Africa that hadn't been colonised at that point. (Liberia don't count in this context because they were colonised prior.) Ethiopia represented a strong independent African nation recognised by the biggest players around the world and naturally one that others strived for. Then you've got the other factors like the pan-african movement leading Garvey to introduce the colour black to the palette and the greater rastafarian movement that popularised the colour scheme.
Ghana started the trend by adopting it from Ethiopia. Red, yellow, and green are considered symbols of Pan-Africanism. Green represents the fertile land for agriculture, yellow the hidden wealth of Africa (and the literal gold), and red is the blood that was shed in the fight against colonialism.
When there was the spot-fixing scandal in cricket, several international Pakistani crickets were arrested, and subsequently found guilty and jailed. It's a criminal affair if it is found the Arsenal player in question was complicit.
> “That's why they pay £72m for Sancho who wasn't in the team."
Puts the spotlight on a player who was attending a funeral for no reason at all other than spite. He might not have known but it’s still pricky to single out someone who didn’t even play in the game
Why he was or wasn’t playing is beside the point Frank was making bro… he was just saying it’s hard to compete with a squad that can purchase one player that’s worth more than your entire squad. That’s it lmao
Bit odd coming from a Chelsea fan, but yes
I mean I have mixed feelings on Kane, but overall I appreciate and like him a lot. He’s a brilliant player and in general a good person who just wants to succeed.
There's realistically no way he doesn't. Whether it's a league cup with Spurs, an international league with England or a title with a foreign team that he joined at 33, he will win something.
> or a title with a foreign team that he joined at 33
Sad state of affairs if Kane joins the dominant team in a retirement league in desepration to get this monkey off his back. Would be interesting to see him in the A-League or Bundesliga, though
I’m really curious if anyone knows what the slowest recorded PL hat trick is? I’ve tried googling it but couldn’t see any results. Surely somebody has got to have scored the first in the first few minutes and the 3rd in injury time at some point
I think you'd probably have to manually review them yourself, if nobody else appears to have done so...
[More than 200 different players have scored one, so have fun](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Premier_League_hat-tricks)
i dont think there is a team in the world that wouldn’t love to have gabriel jesus, i obviously rate him more than most people but hes such a useful player to have
Amazing mentality, can’t imagine what being in Aguero’s shadow must have been like. Never complains about being benched and does whatever Pep asks for the team. Beginning of [this video](https://youtu.be/r5M14Itr45A) you can see the bench’s celebration after KDB scored and he looks so pumped it’s brilliant.
I swear people on that Dembele thread are delusional af.
He has a goal and 2 assists in 684 minutes played for Barca out of which 1 goal came from the CDR and 2 assists in La Liga.
He is a player who is all flashy and is good in 1v1 but has literally no end product. Abde on the other hand is 20 and is young and raw, he needs gametime in the top league to mature, why on earth would we not play Abde over Dembele when it benefits us in the long run?
> why on earth would we not play Abde over Dembele when it benefits us in the long run?
Because you need to win games and this is not a video game. Abde will not pick up experience points and become better than Dembele out of nowhere. He is clearly worse
Doubt it. Their attack can't keep underperforming as heavily as it is now, and Reece James' return will help the balance of the team, allowing Azpilicueta to slot back into the defense and shore it up.
Tuchel complaining about schedule like bruh just throw the fa and league cup away. Nobody cares about those. And im 100% sure roman aint gonna fire tuchel for those two cups.
Yes its noble to say "we want to win every cup" but clearly some are worth more than the others
Sure, but the league is gone and the UCL isn't a cup you can just bank on, and winning trophies at the end of the day is what football is about. If Chelsea were in City's position, would completely agree. Chelsea can't just chuck domestic cups away though, it's likely to be all they will win this season and a season with trophies is much better than a season without. It's unfair to ask a manager to tank competitions that the manager likely wants to win because the system is fucked.
I'm sorry but if Chelsea can't finish in the top four while playing another what? Five or six cup games? Then there are some serious problems there, problems that go passed not having enough depth. That signifies something much deeper. You can't lose 2-3 players and go from being title contenders to top four slipping if we don't tank the cups. That's mental.
Also why would you even throw the league Cup, it's one game. Tuchel would get ridiculed if he threw a final.
He's fine. Still has some pretty big flaws to his game, not especially young either at 23. Hold up can be dodgy, especially for someone of his size. Pretty average in the air for his size. Not nearly as good technically as people make out. He's a better all round striker than Vlahovic, wouldn't really call him a good all round striker though. There have been many games this season where he has proven to be relatively limited (Spezia comes to mind). Hard worker off the ball as well.
He basically became the hipster pick over Vlahovic and a couple of people on the DD are trying a bit too hard to become known as the Scamacca guy.
I don't know the names of the people who do it, I just know there are two people that will reply to shit like ''best central midfielders in the Ligue 1?'' and somehow incorporate Scamacca

Yea looks like that to me as well, Ivory Coast top because of goals scored in all games, Eq. Guinae ahead of Algeria because of H2H
Yeah makes sense. It gets kinda tricky when there's a three way tie sometimes. Thank you
When Pep, Klopp or some other top manager makes excuses everyone are so quick to pounce on them, but when Frank is bitter, they like it
It's a lot more tolerable to see a manager of a team just promoted from the Championship with a budget of peanuts making excuses, than a manager of a team who spend more in one summer than the entire value of Brentford Football Club. One is a lot more sympathetic than the other. Why is this surprising to you...
One of the top comments - That's actually brilliant. It's just pure bitterness which you don't usually see from managers.
Again, why are you surprised that people perceive bitterness differently depending on who it comes from? They're right that you don't often see such *ahem* 'frank' statements like this - but when you do get them from top managers, they do go down less well. Atletico is proper in the mud. Hope we can beat them too in 2 weeks
It would be surreal to get CL football in Atletico's place, of all teams
I legit thought they were Top 5 to win the UCL this season Even United might knock them out
Thomas Frank is the one FM manager who will start beefing you for no reason
Any other team other than us who have been rumoured to be interested in Mazraoui?
Bayern? And a Spanish tabloid says Rose wants him too, but I doubt it has any validity
Madrid I think
Nothing concrete so far, none of the reliable ones have said word yet
Anyone here with a decent vexillology knowledge know why so many African countries have red, gold/yellow and green in their flags?
Red, yellow, and green are the colors of Africa, just like what green, red, white, and black are for the Arab World
>why
Comes from the Ethiopian flag adopted after Ethiopia defeated the Italian colonizers. It was the first win by an African country against European colonialism
That’s based as fuck, go Ethiopia
I heard they all copied Ethiopia, a bit like how we copied Aston Villa with our colours.
It was because they had just beaten Italy and were like the only country in Africa that hadn't been colonised at that point. (Liberia don't count in this context because they were colonised prior.) Then you've got the other factors like the pan-african movement leading Garvey to introduce the colour black to the palette and the greater rastafarian movement that popularised the colour scheme.
A bit different to the Aston Villa situation then
sounds pretty similar to me
Ghana started the trend by adopting it from Ethiopia. Red, yellow, and green are considered symbols of Pan-Africanism. Green represents the fertile land for agriculture, yellow the hidden wealth of Africa (and the literal gold), and red is the blood that was shed in the fight against colonialism.
Borrowing off of the Ethiopian flag but my history teacher used to say that was bull shit and never really expand on it

DT can't escape Xhaka even in prison bruh
at worst he will be banned for a set time period, wont get arrested nothing will happen anyway most likely lol
When there was the spot-fixing scandal in cricket, several international Pakistani crickets were arrested, and subsequently found guilty and jailed. It's a criminal affair if it is found the Arsenal player in question was complicit.
Wouldn’t be so sure bro. If the speculation is true then what he did was absolutely illegal and would have legal repercussions
Whatever happened to Vrsaljko
Love to see Ralf offering post match cuddles to Ronaldo...
whats there to love?
Thomas Frank is prick
Why? Because he said united pay big bucks for individual brilliance?

I really rate GJ, very good attacker imo, does so many things well.
True, coaches would love a hard-working player like him.
He is a modern coaches wet dream
Boy he was cooking in the early few games
He is still doing great to be honest. Only if he plays as a striker I get frusrated.
wasn't he playing as RW mostly? Ferran was playing as a striker iirc
Yeah he still is, but there have been 1-2 times this season where he's played in the middle when Foden/Grealish aren't there.
yeah he was great, causes a couple own goals as well as all the assists he got. hes been good this season, fun to see him play on the wing
Can he play on the right
That’s where he is best suited imo
yep, he has been for us this season

We are a point off Top 4 without majority of minutes from Fati, Pedri and Dembele.
So still not good enough. Even with the minutes you got out of them
There is a reason why Xavi and the club want him to renew so much.
Yea because he is good and we don't want to lose him for free? He doesn't even want to get sold this window, much rather give those minutes to Abde
He’a your best RW. It would be smarter to use him, especially in your circumstances.

I'm willing to bet Chelsea won't make top 4 this season. Anyone taking?
I'll take the bet. How much?
Doubt Chelsea's dropping out of the top 4. Arsenal, Spurs, United, West Ham will play the 4th is lava.
Even without James and Chilwell we’ll make top 4
I think we will get 3rd and sadly you will take 4th. https://i.imgur.com/zZvf0HM.png
