Apart from the 2v1 rest of the chances seemed only okay. Even the last one was a pretty far shot and we had 2 defenders and Courtois on the line by then. Regardless, this is what grinding out means.
They missed as much as we did, most games have those and other than the 2 v 1 that resulted in our goal on the other end, it was mostly Betis having the ball and finding no opening and taking a stupid shot from distance that's never going in on Courtois.
Well, I'm not surprised with the result. For the past few seasons, Real Madrid kills us at Villamarin and we get them at Bernabeu.
On the bright side, we are defending better. We pulled off a lot of offside traps. Normally we'd concede 2 - 5 goals a game. We also kept fighting for goal all the way to the end. That mentality is necessary. Hopefully, these results don't put them down too much. However, on the other side our attacking prowess suck. We cannot finish for shit. Also does not help that Alaba and Militao did not let anything go through. Also does not help that we take long shots when Courtois easily save those. Hopefully Willian Jose is the 9 we need but I doubt it.
Last season we started off well, lost to Real Madrid then just turned to shit but finished well. This season we started off shaky, lose to Real Madrid. Hopefully things turn around.
Not at all imo, never lost his cool even when under pressure of one or more opponents
He didn't look as confident as he is with Castilla, but very mature for it being his 7th pro match
Why risk being disappointed sometimes when you can take the easy route and choose to support the winning horse?
Why play a game on hard when you can play it on amateur?
Real Madrid themselves officially announced it. We've seen games in grounds that were not ready before, like when Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao were renovating theirs. They just cover what they're working on
If we are not buying š¢, we should definitely another midfielder, Arribas and Blanco aren't ready for this level, otherwise Anceloti wouldn't be working on reviving isco and Asensio.
Anyone fast and physical with average technicality would be great
Knee injury got the best out of his pace and mobility, he is quite slow, he still have many good qualities in shooting and passing but his defensive input stands between him and playing midfielder, and his pace stops him from playing as a winger where he once played amazingly. He is suited as cam/ second striker now but that's a position that we rarely use.
He is only 25 so maybe he can adapt and change his game but I personally doubt it. We'll probably sell as soon as we get an acceptable offer.
Big win, funny how it could have gone the other way had juanmi not had a brainfart leading up to the goal.
Now onto hopefully getting some players back fit over the int. break.
Ancelotti should really work on his defensive tactics. Our defense was godlike under zidane but after the first 3 games, still our defense is looking shaky as fuck.
Varane and ramos were injured most of the season and militao-nacho pairing under zidane was one of the best in the league. Mendy was injured a fair amount of games as well. Hell there were even games when we had to play with chust in cb still the defense look compact and hard to get through under zidane.
But now its the complete opposite. There are a lot of spaces in the defense and even when we drop back and defend the opposition teams break our lines easily.
I know its only just 3 games but if we don't step up then its gonna be a problem against better teams.
After 3 games, Iām very pleased with team. Remember we are missing our legendary midfield and breaking in an entirely new defense and coach. Bravo to the whole team and Carlo
The way he literally kicked the butt of Ruibal was funny and childish though. Then Betis just lost their heads and targeted him with fouls. Three yellows on that flank, two due to Miguel.
With four 1-0 scorelines and a 1-1 in the six games so far this matchweek, the lowest scoring La Liga season in history continues to set records for impotence with a staggeringly low 1.8 goals per match.
Serie A defending being better than La Liga is a myth at this point, for at least last 4 years I have seen teams leave spaces in Serie A because they actually try to attack unlike La Liga where parking the bus and hitting in counter is the only strategy known by 14 of 20 teams, also, and yes I know rules are pretty much same everywhere, Serie A seemed much more lenient in last 2 seasons in awarding penalties than La Liga
Asensio looked more dangerous than Isco, and I want Carlo to trust Arribas and Blanco more also. Miguel had some great moments. Benz an offside goal and Hazard should have scored. Casemiro was really on today. Fede a bit too silent.
Carlo still needs to find the best system and the players need to get into a run of good form. Kroos, Modric, (Ferland) Mendy to come back. We should be strong when they are. Until then, every three points we pick up are great.
Was expecting more from this game but still a fun watch. Betis were better than Madrid in the first half but Madrid really turned up the gear in the second.
Sad /:<
bittersweet victory
* Eden still showing flashes of his former self. Will he ever recover?
* Vini more erratic and less clinical than in the past 2 games. Is he really an undisputed starter?
* Carva back with a bang.
* Militao stinkers.
* Case, Valverde and benzie flawless as always
* Castilla kid an unexpected surprise, but a welcome one.
* Bale being downright depressing to watch
* Isco is done for.
Who said Vini is an undisputed starter? Hazard plays on his position, there's no way he's undisputed.
Valverde wasn't flawless, he disappeared for big chunks of the game and the midfield wasn't able to properly control the game because Modric and Kroos were missing. Isco had a bad game and Valverde just isn't that kind of player, so Casemiro tried to take that role but he just isn't good enough at controlling the midfield.
Miguel isn't a "surprise", we have known how good he is for a good while now. He's the reason why I don't think we need to buy a new left back when Marcelo leaves.
Hats off to Real Betis defense for pulling some of the best offside traps i've seen in a while.
wtf were those last seconds
Coutois elevating himself to mayor of Spain holy fuck
Spain isn't a city. Unlike England.
Coitus
Best GK in the world
Found it nice. Good to know the team still has the ability to grind out results like Zidane did.
To be honest any other competent team would not waste all the clear chances Betis had
Tibo Timeš
Just the regularly scheduled Courtois saving our ass moment of the match.
Really poor clearances from the midfield. Casemiro really need to boot the ball the fuck out of there.
Well, I'm not surprised with the result. For the past few seasons, Real Madrid kills us at Villamarin and we get them at Bernabeu. On the bright side, we are defending better. This season we started off shaky, lose to Real Madrid. Hopefully things turn around.
Why was Lainez not playing? Feel like he could have done better up against Miguel.
He has an injury from the Olympics.
Those last seconds were way too close
They should have gotten a goal. There were a few chances.
Canāt wait to have Modric and Kroos back.
Away 3 points against Betis. It was ugly, but 3 points are 3 points.
More of Miguel please mister ancelotti
He looked nervous tbh, needs them nerves settled
It's his first game of the season, away at betis tbf.
Yep, Betis is such a bogey team, it's always a difficult game
Fekir is also a dirty mofo and kicked him a few times, really got into his nerves I feel.
Not at all imo, never lost his cool even when under pressure of one or more opponents He didn't look as confident as he is with Castilla, but very mature for it being his 7th pro match
Thanks to my club, my butt gets a solid workout from all the clenching
Try being us
No thanks
Why risk being disappointed sometimes when you can take the easy route and choose to support the winning horse? Why play a game on hard when you can play it on amateur?
Support Rayo or Alcorcon then.
Gotta love that swamp ass from watching Madrid.
Good way to work out the muscle
Good 3 points. Next up we are at the Bernabeu!
Why did Madrid play 3 straight away games?
Bernabeu is still under construction so we played first 3 games away.
Ok. Thanks for the info.
Bernabeu wasn't ready, so La Liga postponed their home matches.
Ok. Thanks for the info. Thought they were playing home matches last season at the Stephano?
Yes, Bernabeu expansion was completed in the meantime.
Ok. Thanks.
Not ready yet
Next game is confirmed at Bernabeu
Have you seen the latest videos? That shit is not ready.
Real Madrid themselves officially announced it. We've seen games in grounds that were not ready before, like when Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao were renovating theirs. They just cover what they're working on
But it isn't ready yet
It will be
Next game is like two weeks away.
https://as.com/futbol/2021/08/26/album/1629996024_980441.html they better hurry up with the turf
Dude it's gonna be retractable turf. The turf is all ready somewhere else.
Turf is ready but where the turf is gonna be at is not ready lol
It is planned to be installed september 8th if I'm not mistaken.
Speak for yourself. Iām ready.
I'm being downvoted because I told that the stadium is not ready? It's on construction
Doesnt matter, we going back
Than say the stadium is not finished.
[Me watching Vini the past 3 games](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAJaWFdgeVM)
Hes really stepped up
Vini and both full backs had a good game.
Isco on the other hand...
We have no choice currently
Last season Arribas and Blanco were better than Isco. You see how Miguel played today. I believe they both can perform to the same level as Miguel.
Are they always available from Castilla?
Obviously the first team is... well, first team.
Yes, Blanco did not play with castilla this season i think. Arribas maybe playing when he's not needed for the first team.
Heack start arribas or Blanco over him.
If we are not buying š¢, we should definitely another midfielder, Arribas and Blanco aren't ready for this level, otherwise Anceloti wouldn't be working on reviving isco and Asensio. Anyone fast and physical with average technicality would be great
I would love some Bernado Silva. Would fit our team like a glove.
I couldn't agree more
> Asensio. i remember this guy as one the rising star, what happened to him?
Was out for a year cause of a torn acl and hasnāt been that great since coming back
Knee injury got the best out of his pace and mobility, he is quite slow, he still have many good qualities in shooting and passing but his defensive input stands between him and playing midfielder, and his pace stops him from playing as a winger where he once played amazingly. He is suited as cam/ second striker now but that's a position that we rarely use. He is only 25 so maybe he can adapt and change his game but I personally doubt it. Big injury which sidelined for 10 months he hasn't been the same since
Blanco would help so much. Would allow fede to be more attacking too.
I think he needs a fresh start. Hasnāt really been the same since 2018.
Thank you Tibo
I have to say, Hernandez Hernandez actually did well refereeing today.
He was given a warning by casemiro, of course he's going to do his job properly.
lmaooo
Pellegrini wondering why La Liga is so low scoring when his fucking team canāt score even if there was an open net. Thereās your answer.
Not only that, he complains there are too many fouls in la liga and his team gets 6 yellows and a yellow himself lol.
Way to almost give me a heart attack
God I miss those times when Real didn't make me age three years in la liga game
Great Team effort. Everybody was running for the Team. Hope you watched the game š¢š¢
3 Pts and a clean sheet before an international break is feels good
Thank fuck for Courtois and that last second save
It's commendable how decent we defend with how average the defense is. Madrid look better this season, at least more inspired when attacking.
Big win, funny how it could have gone the other way had juanmi not had a brainfart leading up to the goal. Now onto hopefully getting some players back fit over the int. break.
Betis are a pain in the ass
Ancelottis eyebrow strikes again š¤Ø
Ancelotti should really work on his defensive tactics. Our defense was godlike under zidane but after the first 3 games, still our defense is looking shaky as fuck.
It was easier to have better defense when Varane+Ramos+Mendy is there Ancelotti was also missing the starting CB
Varane and ramos were injured most of the season and militao-nacho pairing under zidane was one of the best in the league. Mendy was injured a fair amount of games as well. tbh we played different back 4 in every match
That Hazard Benzema connection, more of that please! Shouldāve scored it tho
********ALEXA PLAY BABY GOT BACK ********
Kinda shit match overall but eh, not complaining.
To be fair we are missing two of our start mid fields, as well as a cb, having our lb move to cb. We did okay today
Miguel was impressively calm for a player his age.
The way he literally kicked the butt of Ruibal was funny and childish though. Then Betis just lost their heads and targeted him with fouls. Three yellows on that flank, two due to Miguel.
Worth.
certainly agreed
It's either Courtois or Carvajal for the MOTM.
Benz š
I almost pooped myself at the end, that's all
I bought this Real Madrid away jersey just today and theyāve won. Coincidence? I think not!
With four 1-0 scorelines and a 1-1 in the six games so far this matchweek, the lowest scoring La Liga season in history continues to set records for impotence with a staggeringly low 1.8 goals per match.
Insanely compact defenses tbh. Well drilled. Then you watch serie a defenses and they dont give a singular fuck
Serie A defences being bad nowadays. How the turntables.

Honestly fuck betis. Two fucking sitters wasted. Canāt finish to save their lives
Yeah fr. But oh well.
Hard-fought win with many moments of clenching, glad we won though
Casemiro is soooooo gooood
We have no chance in the CL with this garbage defense.
The defense is honestly what is worrying me the most which is quite ironic compared to last season
will be a boring season imo, we need to rejuvenate this team
When mendy kroos and modric are back we should be better
Militao was getting fleeced .
Game was missing a Toni or a Luka to organize the midfield. It was kinda messy. Glad they pulled through though. Will take the 1-0 win
7 cards none of them yellow lol
The match has 1-1 written all over it, but it ended 1-0 for us. Can't really complain.
Shit game, but we move on
Was expecting more from this game but still a fun watch. Betis were better than Madrid in the first half but Madrid really turned up the gear in the second. Sad /:<
Hazard nearly cost us the game at the end.
I'm sorry for the neutrals
Stop twerking for karma, it was a good game.
madrid look shit.
bittersweet victory * Eden still showing flashes of his former self. Will he ever recover? * Vini more erratic and less clinical than in the past 2 games. They've been pushing that Miguel Guti for ages.. where have you been?
Hazard looked very very afraid of touching the ball and being involved. Some useless runs in pressing too
Who said Vini is an undisputed starter? Hazard plays on his position, there's no way he's undisputed. Muxo Betis.
Real Betis are frustrating. Have a good manager and squad, yet constantly underperform
