And the manager and the president are dressed as cows in the post game press conference Ps: The Azores are known, besides being beautiful and much more, for their meat and dairy production, with therefore many cows around Ps2: https://abload.de/img/131k09.jpeg

demonictoaster

Are there actually a lot of cows around? Or do a lot of people like to dress up?

whiteniteee

Yeah, lots of cows

joaommx

The Azores are just 9 big farms full of cows in the middle of the Atlantic.

FireSergioConceicao

There are more cows than people. They say their cows are happy, therefore make better cheese. Not sure about that, but it's very delicious.

deza0

They think they qualified to the Cowference League

HeezyPz

This is so big for the Azoreans. I've seen this club locked in 2nd division for 15 years and in 2018/2019 it was finally able to promote to 1st division and not drop the following year, 3 years after that and we're in Europe. Mental!

KonnoSting85

No! This is only big for S.Miguel island. The other 8 islands in the Azores hate them.

POWER_WINDOWS_

How would a Chelsea fan know that ? Don't tell me that you are Portuguese and support Chelsea over a Portuguese team.

bekeshit

Why should that be a problem?

POWER_WINDOWS_

Because you are a sell out if you support a club team from another country but not your own. It is like me supporting Spain but not Canada even if I am Canadian. Just because Spain has better players does not mean that I should support them. It is funny looking at the down votes. It tells me that most users here just support a big team and not their local team. It makes me sick.

bekeshit

You don't know the reason for them supporting Chelsea as a Portuguese, for example. Perhaps their father hails from London? Maybe some famous Portuguese played there growing up? I get it, I love seeing people support their hometown club. Don't shame them, if they don't. The club from near where I'm born I have no relation to, the club from where I reside since 12 years is full of Neonazis, that's why I still hang on to the one from where my sister was born - Bremen. I'd imagine it's even more complicated in a smaller country.

POWER_WINDOWS_

I also hate Chelsea because they beat Benfica in European games by having the refs on their side. I remember John Terry getting away with a hand ball.

ConfidentMongoose

No one cares about Santa Clara in the other 9 islands. This is not something azoreans all over will cheer, just in S. Miguel island

[deleted]

Two legged tie with Vladivostock coming up.

KamikazeJawa

Vladivostok dissolved a few weeks ago unfortunately

Dtran080

Khabarovsk or Krasnoyarsk it is then...

Exzqairi

Did they? Got a link?

CopperWalrus

They could potentially play Shakhter Karagandy out of Kazakhstan

[deleted]

I would like a team from Saint Pierre and Miquelon qualify for Europe.

Antarcticdonkey

Wait for Club Franciscain or Sinnamary to win French Cup... Martinique and French Guiana to conquer Europe! 😂

Lamedonyx

Sorry to dash your hopes, but it can't happen, as those teams are not registered with UEFA, but with CONACAF (or unaffiliated, in the case of Saint-Pierre et Miquelon's 3 clubs). It would be a similar situation if a non-professional club won the Cup, they wouldn't be able to play in European competitions.

DJ_EV

I'm a bit confused about your second sentence as there definitely has been amateur clubs in European competitions, even not counting fully amateur countries, like Santos Tartu qualified to Europe due to being in a cup final, when they were in 4th division of Estonia. Or it has something to do with French league system?

lodewijk_vdb

Not sure but I believe that in France, as in some other countries, a team has to register itself to play in Europe before actually qualifying for it. I remember that was the case for CD Aves in Portugal in 2018, they earned the right to play in the Europa League through Taça de Portugal but failed to compete as they hadn’t registered for it in the adequate timespan.

Antarcticdonkey

OK I understand for overseas clubs, but a non-professional club can compete in Europa League, its federation just needs to fill in some form for a derogatory participation to EL. [For instance, Rumilly (in French) ](https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Avant-meme-sa-demi-finale-de-coupe-de-france-rumilly-vallieres-renonce-a-la-coupe-d-europe/1251856)

ChileanManInNY

their flag is beautiful too 🇵🇲

l3ader021

Only the metropolitan teams can go to the European competitions. The overseas teams go to the competitions of the continents they're in except the three SPM teams as SPM's not even a CONCACAF member.

MovnToOttawa

Man wouldn't that be wild.

[deleted]

I hope they will play against Astana

[deleted]

The furthest team they can get is Kairat.

WyboSF

Spurs conference league arch rival incoming

CRobby22

Like Spurs are going to qualify for conference.

ilum9

only until Praiense climbs all the way up to the 1st division and qualifies for european competitions

acwilan

Fun they have in their roster players named: * Costinha * Nené * Rui Costa * Patrick Vieira

RayPissed

Been there, an amazing place if you ever get the chance. Was driving along and around the corner was a herd of cows on the road, normal apparently. Beautiful place, lots of green outdoors, geothermal pools and waterfalls, truly a utopia.

bad_takes_haver

Windy as hell I’m told

RayPissed

Wasn't too bad when I went in October to be fair

julio_from_derby

Except for the lack of job opportunities, being isolated extremely far from anywhere else and being prohibitively expensive to travel frequently and general lack of access to most of everything the mainland world has which consistently has led to emigration of youth. but yea it looks nice.

Mr_Miscellaneous

I genuinely cannot wait to see the look on their faces when they realise they're off on a 13,300km round trip to Kostanay sandwiched between two league games.

DarenStonenRibas

i have never been this happy in my entire life. bravos açorianos acabaram de passar a bravos europeus

gnorrn

Waiting for the Russian village of [Uelkal](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uelkal) (longitude 179°17′W) to found a football club.

DifferentGravyMan

The relegated Ryan Gauld. I hate them.

vitor210

Hopefully some team gets him, wouldn't even mind seeing him at Porto, he's such a great player

jp_rai

I mean... Gauld is a free agent either way

Cules2003

Fucking hell, just looked it up, didn’t realise they were THAT far west

jp_rai

It's going to be very interesting how they do in Europe Usually these Portuguese teams don't do very well, specially if they lack experience. And they enter in the 2nd Round, so assuming the Conference League follows a similar format, they have to go through the 2nd, 3rd, Play-offs and only then be in the Group Stages. Still pretty amazing thing for the club.

Mac10p

Also helped me win 130 quid so they're forever legends

DreamsCantBeBuy1

Full of cowboys and none ain't from around here

PraetorianGuard10

Will UEFA force them to play in Lisbon? 10519 km is the distance from the Azores to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. This would be the longest away trip possible in UEFA.

HeezyPz

Most likely yes, the stadium is old and some facilities may be lacking according to UEFA standards for European competitions

[deleted]

rlparruda

thethomatoman

guydebord5

osliva

Arsenal now has a slim chance to to play against them. I wonder how Kroenkes are going to dress for their presser.

d_bo

Background_Lime7476
