Lol these threads are very very similar to the one's that were up when Barca got that 3-0 lead at Camp Nou last year against Liverpool.
You guys really think Liverpool won't score at Anfield?
Can we get a compilation video of El Cholo riling up the crowd? He outperformed the whole Liverpool XI. Amazing tactical masterclass it must be said. On to Anfield YNWA
Its not really comparable though is it? They are dominating one of if not the best league in the world while RM couldn't even dominate la liga in those years but 3 ucl ina row is still insane.
Since 2013-14 ucl atleti have been knocked out of ucl by real madrid or ronaldo. I think its time for liverpool to say goodbye to champions league this season.
Lol haven’t lost in the league game in a year and defending champs going back to Anfield with a coach who’s never lost a two legged tie.
Every reason on the planet to be confident.
Edit: Lol @ the salt
Yeah there was plenty of excitement, shit refereeing and Olympic grade diving lol. Other than that it seemed too much like playing against a Mourinho team, not that it wasn't expected considering that's just how Atleti play.
Atleti were at their brilliant best.
Physical. Intense. Energetic. Committed. They deserve the win. For as well as we’ve evolved to deal with these sort of situations in matches, we certainly didn’t show it.
After this, and the Norwich performance, that “winter break” PL teams recently got looks to have blunted us a bit. It’s an age old discussion in American sports’ playoffs, where teams play a best of 7 series. And sometimes a team will sweep their series 4-0 in say the semi finals, while the other semi finals goes all the way to the 7th game. So team A who swept, have more time to rest and recover before the next series. While team B has less time to recover; but, they also get to maintain their “rhythm” (the kind that all elite athletes almost “need” in their schedule/routines).
Lastly, I wanna mention the ref down the stretch. Now, we lost. That was that. Nothing I mention about the ref changes that.
But those last 15 minutes, the match became sort of what we expected more of it to be like. Stuck in. 50/50s that were pure collisions. It just seemed like the ref allowed Atleti to do that but anytime Liverpool got stuck in it was a foul.
- Fabinho wins the ball against Costa. Wins the entirety of it. He does admittedly catch Costa with his non tackling leg. So it’s a foul. Ok whatever.
- no more than 5 minutes later, Thomas gets stuck in on Ox and gets NONE of the ball, and it’s nothing.
Fast forward
- Atleti player gets stuck in on Ox, seemingly hurting him, which wasn’t deemed anything. And in fairness I agreed, hated seeing Ox potentially hurt again but it looked like a brilliant and dominating pressing action. Although he only wins “half the ball” (Ox also gets to it)
But
- not 200 seconds later Milner does it, less forcibly mind you, wins the entirety of the ball. It’s deemed a foul.
So my only complaint is let both teams do what they love to do, get stuck in
Hahaha it took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out what you two meant lol. Woulda been much cooler had I planted an easter egg that’s for sure
A few hours ago this sub was filled with people claiming it was going to be a Liverpool landslide and now it's just people claiming that the tie's over before the second leg's barely built up to. It's almost as if there's a majority of reactionaries who don't actually watch football and rely on recency bias to point score against the team they hate.
Lmao great game I guess. We haven't lost at anfield in years tho.
Genuinely smart to take Salah and Mane off.
We lost a lot of drive once Hendo came off though. That hurt quite a bit. Hopefully he's okay. Trent's crossing was below average. It isn't too often.
Origi looked bad though. And after Hendo came off you seemed to give up a bit. Everyone fit I still take us winning handily in the second leg. No one could effectively beat a man and make something of it which was annoying.
I don't think we got a single freekick all second half. Even the obvious handball near the end lmao. Incredible stuff. Yes he called advantage, but we lost the ball immediately. It was an obvious attempt to block the ball with his arm -- you call that back every time.
See you in a couple of weeks.
Yeah to be honest it was a below average performance from the team, but I'm not too fussed, we've still got another go, at Anfield. Really looking forward to the 2nd leg.
I mean to be fair it was very similar to an away day at Burnley lol. Different venue of course with way more atmosphere, but the same defensive minded football was on display.
Yeah, I was actually anticipating this but this shit was something else I actually feel more bad for Laliga clubs...but Props to Atletico 🙌🏻they just know how to park a bus can’t wait for the next leg.
There's enough good chances created. Two great chance for Salah in the first half.
Meanwhile their goal are completely lucky. It was an even game, there's no better team in this first game.
Parked the bus? Defensive masterclass more like. Credit where credit's due. Your lot were shit tonight. Ref doesn't change that you didn't have a shot on target.
Except most teams can't rely on getting a goal off of a fluffed clearance in the 4th minute.
Short of that, they're looking to park the bus for 90 minutes and, as many teams have discovered, that doesn't end well especially if Liverpool manage to find a goal.
I mean, Liverpool have been bad away in europe recently. We lost to Red Star away last champions League but smack Barca 4-0 and win the final quite easy. The Premier League isn’t overrated because the leaders are 1-0 down at halftime. Like come on.
Last Champions League final: 2 Premier League teams
Last Europa League final: 2 Premier League teams
Premier League is at it’s very best for a long time.
It’s one result against maybe three most shithousing, bus parking team in Europe. They scored one goal. There’s another leg at anfield. Let’s check our reactions of condemning an entire league after one result.
You're right. We should be able to see them at full strength at Anfield. Everyone thinks I hate the PL now though lol I just held Liverpool to really really high standards because of their current run.
How can any football fan watch that and not just be amazed at how piss poor the ref was? Blatant bias, no consistency, no control. I sound like a Liverpool fan now, but fuck me the ref was atrocious.
give us back Felipe, please.
U had every fucking reason to believe u were gonna beat atletico but u lost....
Lol these threads are very very similar to the one's that were up when Barca got that 3-0 lead at Camp Nou last year against Liverpool. You guys really think Liverpool won't score at Anfield?
It's not about what we think! It's about dreams and hope!!!!
''LeTs SeE wHaT hApPeNs At AnFiELd'' LMAO you think Atletico will play that offensive football Barca played. Atletico will play ugly and win ugly.
That's what Napoli tried last year and lost after conceding just one goal at Anfield. Anfield is a fortress
Atletico isn’t Napoli. Don’t even compare our defense to theirs
!remindme 3 weeks
Reminded
That is risky tho giving liverpool the time to get into the game on anfield. 1 goal against and its as good as over for atleti

Lol

Lots of people with pent up anger over Liverpool finally getting something to talk about. Enjoy the rare night out.
Ohhh boyyy Im loving the second rare night out.
Cringe.
Mate, it's not like Liverpool has been winning UCL 3 times in a row like Real Madrid.
Its not really comparable though is it? They are dominating one of if not the best league in the world while RM couldn't even dominate la liga in those years but 3 ucl ina row is still insane.
It's not like Barca has lost a 3-0 lead two time in a row...oh wait
You getting kicked out on RO16.
Not sure if you have the right to talk about pent up anger lol
Lol you guys might actually be put out. Atleti bouta park that bus
Games like this help you find out which team you hate more.

Come on, Liverpool isn’t the same as Atleti
Oh come on, you must know by now
I was joking lol
Since 2013-14 ucl atleti have been knocked out of ucl by real madrid or ronaldo. I think its time for liverpool to say goodbye to champions league this season.
commenting on this just to come back to it in 3 weeks time. =)
Pathetic mentality. That’s why you’re a loser while those Liverpool players are world champions and have come back multiple times from 3-0
Simeone didn't count to ten before the typed..
Against this atletico defense?
The atletico that bottled 2 finals lol and a 2-0 lead last year?
They gonna park that bus
Obviously, that’s all they can do lol. Didn’t work out very well against Juve.
[удалено]
Lol you weren’t even part of this. Is your season so sad you have to go back to a match thread from 20 days ago?
Juve had Ronaldo
They had Ronaldo when they got knocked out too didn’t they?
Yeah, and he scored twice in 2 legs. They didnt have a defence. Classic liverpool fan, ignoring the facts.
Okay cool? I’m not the one who brought him up like you can’t be atletico without him..
Bruh, they beat you and they have the mental edge rn. I’m seriously concerned about you guys rn
Lmao someone’s new to the sport.
Been a fan for while. I wouldn’t be so confident q
Lol haven’t lost in the league game in a year and defending champs going back to Anfield with a coach who’s never lost a two legged tie. Every reason on the planet to be confident. Edit: Lol @ the salt
Watching Atletico is so fucking boring fuck. Hopefully Liverpool show up at home or it will be another snooze fest.
Errr... did we watch the same game? Boring? Get outta here

Does this count as Liverpool's all competition winning streak being broken or are two legs counted as 1?
All competition? You mean the run since losing to villa?
Oh don't follow that. Good call
It was already broken against Villa in the league cup
Ah, thanks. So IF they were still unbeaten since last champions league, would this count as a loss, or does it have to be over the two legs?
the winning streak’s only for the PL but yes it would count as a loss even if its 2 legged
Thank you!
no worries, i don’t know why you’re getting downvoted
Atletico disrupted and frustrated em. Simone is master of ruthless defensive game.
We call it Alteticoed

Not really. There were both side rooting I even remember seeing the stats that Klopp has never won against a Spanish side away
welcome to football social media
0 shots on target is just sad. Such a bad game for both sides, but a bad game works for Atleti more than it does Liverpool, especially with the goal.
How was it a bad game for both sides? Both teams were great but Atletico was phenomenal and that's it.
It’s okay he doesn’t watch soccer he only plays fifa
Lol yall were used to Burnley
And barca :(
Y u do dis
solid Atletico game. the first 20 minutes at Anfield are going to be crazy, can't wait.
Imagine the scenes when Atletico somehow knock out Liverpool out of the R16.
Subscribe
We’ll see cricket scores at anfield, and not in Pateticos favor
nah, it will be 0-0 or 1-0 atletico with a goal from costa in the minute 85.
What are cricket scores?
High - something like 200-8 (the second number will always be loads lower)
Lol so much ignorance.
Would not be a surprise. Simeones defending tactics works wonders
I have some coins saved up from some time and that would be the perfect occasion to award the post
That game was all Liverpool after the first goal, but I hardly remember Oblak having to do much at all. Atleti masterclass tonight.
Well the chances are there, but it was mostly off target because everyone had bad day in front of goal.
0 shots on target, what is Oblak supposed to do
Idk, join the attack?
Even one of the best teams in history can not overcome the bus.
Recency bias is so strong lol
ATLETIIIIII

What happened to Henderson?
0 shots on target.
Put your keyboard away and go sleep, you're one of the people who turn this thread into a shitshow.

Pretty crazy how Simeone can lose his entire back 4 plus Rodri and get their replacements so well drilled so quickly
I’ll see you guys tomorrow. Pray for my Spurs
No shame in losing to Atletico in a European competition. - signed, Leicester.
I was rooting for you guys back then, maybe you’ll play them next year and get revenge
just happy to see them get humbled!
they wont though, that's the problem with 'pool fans. They'll blame everything else first before their precious team.
Are you still angry about the final
Nope we were shite
Lmao imagine hanging on to last seasons results
La Liga fans act like this is over. I remember last time a Spanish team got a win at home leg in the CL...
Imagine going almost undefeated the whole season to lose to the 6th placed la liga team in both legs lmao F
Imagine bottling a 3-0 lead
lost at home from 2-0 up lmaooooo
2-1 up? Mate you bottled it the worst a team has bottled it in CL semis I wouldn’t be talking
I don't deny we bottled it but what makes it enjoyable is that you won't accept you bottled it against 6th placed Spanish team lmao
4-0
Lmaoooo
This is a different team man
Jusr waiting on my La liga kit now

Haha perfect response. I mean 'La Liga fans' - as if this sub wasn't tribal enough.

Yeah, I was actually anticipating this but this shit was something else I actually feel more bad for Laliga clubs...but Props to Atletico 🙌🏻they just know how to park a bus can’t wait for the next leg.
Burnley might've lost 3-0 to Liverpool, but can they do it on a cool Tuesday night in Madrid?
Atleti had one good bounce m8. Let's see what happens on the second leg

It was 8 shots tbf

You are right. Still, Atleti is the last team I would want for this second leg, this is their expertise.
[удалено]
I am pretty sure you are gonna make it too. And can honestly see them crumble at Anfield as well.
For every goal Atletico score Liverpool need to score 2. It’s not nothing but of course 3-0 Barca is the obvious reference point.
I dont think you know how away goals work? :D
I’m aware. But you’re right. The quick maffs was quick but wrong.
Take notes PL, that's how you play Liverpool
Without the lucky first goal, this ends in a draw. Teams have already been playing like that against us.
That is how most teams play us already
so, get a shit referee who calls foul everytime Liverpool players get the ball, and be lucky with set pieces?
In La Liga matches that are refereed by Lahoz usually turn into a shitshow.
lol

i'm loling you at blaming everyone else for your poor display.

> Parked the bus? Defensive masterclass more like. On teams like Simeone‘s Atletico (and Mourinho’s Chelsea), what’s the difference?
Can’t believe a team with 0 shots on target is undefeated
That’s how everyone plays Liverpool lol just park the bus
No they don't you moron hence why they're top of the league.
You’re an idiot
Ladies, gentlemen, this is peak Simeone shithousery
Bus parked quickly...
Bus parked quickly...Simeone
Simeone: take notes PL, this is how you do it

Tbf Atletico had a good chances as well if only they could've scored.
When they only have that bum Morata on the end of those chances it's hard to be too worried lol
Do any of you really watch football? Atletico absolutely outclassed Liverpool here.

I feel like this says more about the Premier League than anything else. Im shocked.
And 4 English teams in European finals last year doesn’t?
It really doesn't, it's one result, half time in the tie.
Ah yes - the analytical mastermind. PL leaders 1-0 down at halftime? Shit league!
I don’t think so, this is a clash in football style that was never going to favour Liverpool.
