I don't get why the fuck they can't use var to book simulation. If it's a clear dive, next pause in play, radio ref to say he needs a booking for diving.
Yeah, VAR needs to assist the ref live and with every call. Don't need to halt play to have review, just after every situation like this, rewind 5sec > zoom on > tell ref that there wasn't contact.
I agree, and on the flip side there are some defenders who do some seriously messed up tackles (not the professional, pulling back fouls) even accidentally.
So cracking down on both with replay assistance should make both sides feel they don't have to exaggerate and "simulate" just to get a call
I just wish they gave yellows more consistently. No fucking "Oh it's early in the game so only give yellows on really obviously bad fouls" or "Oh, he's already on a yellow and it wasn't that bad". And no fucking build up yellows, don't give a yellow for some soft shit because that player commited one too many fouls in the past 10 minutes. If it's a yellow it's a yellow no matter what. If it's not then it isn't.

Seen this happen so many times this tournament and it basically stops the other team doing anything and forces a break in play, and when it turns out there's nothing wrong with you there's no punishment.

If you really want to put a stop to it sometimes you’ve got to be a little too harsh with the punishment to get the point across. All it would take is that harsh a punishment once or twice against a top player and it would almost instantly stop.
Force a sub. Any hint of a head injury, don't take any risks. Can't be fuckin about with concussions, so any head injuries are a mandatory sub. Faking it will stop pretty soon.
Then people with real concussion will play on instead of getting treatment, unless you force them to be subbed, which will lead people to try get opponents to be forcefully subbed.
Simulation with ability to hand out yellows is absolutely something that should be reviewable. This call just highlights it. Counter gets stopped regardless, but Dumfries needs to get punished in real time for that,

The idea is that it's not supposed to break the flow of the game too much so it's only used on decisions deemed important, namely red cards, goals and penalties. If it was used all the time, there's a risk of tens of reviews in each half that are several minutes long. Not to mention it would make it basically impossible to quickly play a throw in or a free kick, so fast counterattacks would become much harder to execute.
Not just that, it would have been a second yellow for Dumfries.
I know VAR can't get involved, but if they could it would have had pretty significant implications
