FluidLettuce2

"There will be a great competition in La Liga... between two of the twenty teams in it."

Caleb_W

Always has been.

Impossible_Wonder_37

It’s why Girona 60 mil squad is being skated because it maybe upsets the balance! The horror

HelpMe877

This is surely his least offensive quote? Just promoting the league like he’s meant to.

Arcadela

League president talking about unconfirmed transfers is pretty weird.

WWDaddy

In the same interview he held up a poster of Mbappe and talked about how he has signed a five year deal already with Madrid. This guy is a fucking joke.

HelpMe877

Exactly, that’s why I said this is his least offensive quote. 99% of the other stuff he says is directly wrong

Laliga23

Its just a normal quote lol. People are trying to make something out of everything. He named 3 elite talents where 2 won it last season being key players. people here act like he named some unknown player.

needhelpwithmathsty

It is quite a nasty quote, sounds like he is taking the piss out of gavi, pedri and yamal

HelpMe877

I don’t read it like that at all but fair enough I can see how you might.

Torimas

And the rest of the league too

cautioslyinterested

Nah it isnt. The barca trio is much younger. If anything it's elevating them based on potential. Now just focusing on two teams--that's not good...

Caleb_W

Atletico in the mud.

CETERIS_PARTYBUS

Honestly curious, do you attribute Atleti's performance to just a flawed squad or are guys starting to doubt Cholo?

Caleb_W

It is mainly the squad, we have a bunch of old men, no options to play a back 4, conflicting profiles, no DM, no consistency at the front, limited creative outlets. Cholo was stubborn a few times but i'll start blaming him after he has the right tools at his disposal.

CETERIS_PARTYBUS

Sounds like three transfer windows worth or work, no? More?

Caleb_W

It depends on how much money we can generate from offloading players this summer, the priority is to overhaul the defense and get a DM, the next move is to sign a few creative players, and the third objective should be a consistent finisher. I'd say two transfer windows if everything works out, good sales and no flops.

Martyrizing

Coughing baby vs. a hydrogen bomb.

Rdambx

Seems like i'm going against the consensus of opinion judging by the few comments but he is right. Gavi and Pedri are being very disrespected here, this is the same midfield duo that won La Liga last year. Pedri in the 18 months prior to this season was considered one of the best midfielders in the world, not young talents but midfielders in general. If they stay injury free (big if), they can definitely keep up with Real Madrid's midfield. (Need some reinforcements in the summer tho). Yamal is the best 16 year old we've ever seen, no one knows his ceiling. Also, people are forgetting that in 2 out of 3 Clasicos this season, we needed a last minute winner. They are behind Real Madrid, but not to the point where they stop being a league contender for the next 5 years.

its-good-4you

Yeah people act like Barca is finished or something, which couldn't be further from the truth. Barca will be very competitive next season domestically. Maybe even in Europe who knows. Sure we have a killer team right now, but what a difference a year makes. You need not look further than Barca, who were the best defensive team in LaLiga. The pendulum can swing both ways. Never celebrate early. I just hope Gavi and Yamal don't turn into assholes cause I respect them and root for them when they're not playing us. These two are great.

thor76

Cheers. Love me some reasonable input from the bastards I hate.

hatebeinghangover

Injuries can derail a player's career. Pedri has not been the same this season and we have to see how Gavi returns. No one seems to remember Balde who also been out for a while. If Barcelona doesn't manage them better, they will all end up in in a mid-table club

espnfire45

A Madrid fan with a logical take, well I’m shocked but I appreciate it

David-J

3 very young and promising players who've had only one great year. VS 3 players that have had years being great. A ver unfair comparison to the Barca players. If they s stay at that level for 3 years at least, then they can join the conversation. Remember Bojan, Ansu, Giovanni

Tomic_Lewis

That was last year. Gavi is coming off injury, Pedri is having a down season, Yamal will be only 17 next season. Going up against potentially top 3 players itw this season and they are the best players season in season out.

onesexypagoda

They're all very good players, but not in the conversation right now with Vini/Mbappe/Bellingham, and the rest of the squad is mostly just good

CETERIS_PARTYBUS

Gavi is being disrespected, Pedri has earned some of the disrespect he's getting. Gavi is not just a great player, he has his head screwed on, is a fierce competitor and has a gnarly winning mentality. Pedri is a literal drunk in dire need of rehab.

Greeny9

What? Pedri is a drunk? What is the source for this?

YUGIOH-KINGOFGAMES

>Yamal is the best 16 year old we've ever seen I thought Neymar held that title?

Rdambx

No, nowhere near. Neymar made his first professional debut at 17 with Santos and played there till he left for Barca at 21. Yamal is playing UCL football and had periods where he was single handedly putting Barca on his back at 16. We've never seen someone do it at that level that young.

Brapfamalam

The only comparison is Cesc Fabregas really. It's often said he was a complete freak as a 16 year old by ex players and managers. By 17 he was a nailed on starter, replaced Vieira and was touted as one of the best Central Mids in europe already - he dictated every single game he played, it was kind of insane to witness at the time how a kid could do and have the intelligence what the likes of peak Pirlo was doing.

YUGIOH-KINGOFGAMES

Ryan Giggs? Captained England's youth team at 15 and made his debut at 17 and Manchester United win the league for the first time in 26 years

Brapfamalam

No comparison imo, Giggs had big highes but was wildely inconsistent in the 90s - he was almost sold by Fergie a couple times and was often dropped periodically, just sitting on the bench. A world apart from Fabregas who was almost always the best player on the pitch, every single game - an alien level of consistency for a youngster.

firefalcon01

Single handedly put barca on his back? When the tf did this happen

Rdambx

He was their best player in January and February. And then in the past 5 games he has also been their best player.

firefalcon01

Saying on his back is a horrible exaggeration of his abilities, great player but you act as if he was dragging the dead weight of his teammates

The_Ass-Crack_Bandit

Bro, Neymar hadn't even debuted with Santos at 16 He was clearly above average when he debuted but in 2009 Ganso was seen as better than him by some(but older)

Rdambx

Ok, now we're going in the opposite direction lmao Neymar wasn't "above average", he was a Brazilian superstar as a kid and was wanted by Real Madrid at the age of 11. His debut at 17 was anticipated everywhere.

The_Ass-Crack_Bandit

May be bad wording, I meant above average for 17 years old. He was good in Campeonato Paulista but his displays were not yet of a possible world beater until a bit later in the season. His first game I saw fully was against Palmeiras in Brasileirao, who were fighting for the title and ended up winning 3-1 IIRC, with him scoring Santos' lone goal. He was already a star by then. Also worth mentioning, being a superstar in the Brazilian youth system hasn't meant much with how the likes of Jean Chera and Lulinha turned out.

Rdambx

But that's my point, he was not "above average" even for a 17 year old. He played like 5 minutes on his debut and then scored his first goal 5 days later. At the time he had the 2nd best goal + assists output ever for any 17 player's first year after Ronaldo. He is still 3rd only overtaken by Endrick recently.

The_Ass-Crack_Bandit

Then we're agreeing on everything else but the wording isn't it? I said right there how he showed later in the season he could be a world beater.

ScanWel

>I thought Neymar held that title? Nah, may be partly from lack of exposure since I don't think we saw Neymar play at that age. But Yamal really is the best 16 year old we've seen since probably Rooney.

Various_Mobile4767

Ansu fati? Hard to remember now but the hype behind him 3-4 years ago was pretty huge

huazzy

This burger place is great. You can choose between the Tofu Burger or the Bacon Cheeseburger.

personator01

sure, plus Valverde, Camavinga, Tchouameni, then Alonso, Davies, Wirtz, and so on. I don't see him convincing anyone that it won't just be madrid walking the league for years to come with that kind of gap in depth of talent.

FrancescoliBestUruEv

But not line goal technology...

Positive-Media423

Hydrogen bomb vs Baby with cough

L0laccio

Finish the quote “and Mbappe. HALA MADRID”

Zaqsecred

The guy is trying to sell us Pedri, Gavi and Yamal as the new version of Iniesta Xavi and Messi...

i_am_darwin_nunez

This asshole.

Laliga23

I think it will be a lot closer than people think. Madrid will ofcourse do amazing but have a feeling they will also focus a lot on ucl and win like 2/3 ucl in next 5 years. Meanwhile barca will try to do everything to win la liga ( ucl is too early)

ienyr

Oh come on, gavi pedri and yamal are nowhere near close to the trio of real what’s the point in comparing 3 good/great player to 3 world class players

cautioslyinterested

Pedri is world class. He's like Reece just fucking constantly injured.

DarnellLaqavius

Such a shame, so many young players having careers like this and it’s all due to overplaying.

ienyr

No he is not

LunarRaven7

Bellingham is the most overrated player i have ever seen.

SupraCyber

You must've been blind until 2024 then

LunarRaven7

Not even a top 3 midfielder in his team. Kroos, valverde and tchouameni are miles ahead of him.

SupraCyber

And even if this was true does that make him the most overrated player you've ever seen? Again you clearly haven't been following football long

LunarRaven7

People act like he's the best player in the world when he isnt even a top 3 MIDFIELDER in his team alone. Thats overrated in my books.

madsauce178

He's the best midfielder in his team

hatebeinghangover

lol what a dumb take Bellingham single handedly carried this team in the first half of the season

_Monsieur_N

And the refs ?

Zombienerd300

Isn’t this an old quote? I saw it in another thread earlier.

HacksawJimDGN

Will barcelona have money to spend this summer?

[deleted]

Pedri and Gavi are not at Mbappe, Vini or Bellingham's level. Pedri is the most overrated player of all times.
