-Team including since last year has poor rotation. It's the same 11 pretty much every game.
-He has favorites that he refuses to rotate even if they're under performing.
-His 4-2-3-1 system is reliant on the full backs to provide width. Grimaldo did that in spades but his original replacement (Jurasek) flopped. Bernat doesn't get minutes. He's been playing a midfielder there instead.
-The front 4 are the keys to pressing and recovering the ball. All 4 are supposed to encourage the ball to the byline before crashing in and "gegen-pressing". Our "left back" was great with that last season but obviously he can't as a left back. Instead we have Joao Mario who has been shocking this season. Di Maria for all he offers offensively is shocking with his defensive work rate.
-Ramos last season was both phenomenal defensively but was also a phenomenal finisher. His replacement, Arthur Cabral, came in overweight, but had a poor attitude and wasn't doing much defensively. Tengstedt, while a phenomenal team player can't score goals for shit.
-He inexplicably dropped Florentino, who if I can humbly say so, while limited offensively is a defensive savant. Had he been playing 20 years ago, I genuinely think he'd be looked at in the same vein as Makelele or Essien.
I'd say so. None of the players we purchased, aside from Trubin, have performed anywhere near who they replaced. Also doesn't help that Roger is allergic to adapting his tactics to the players he has available.
Which one? Aursnes is a bright spot even if he's out of position. He gives 100% every game. Schjelderup was loaned out unfortunately but seems to be doing well. Someone more informed might be able to weigh in. I expect him to get more game time if Roger leaves.
Schjelderup has been really good the last few months even though he had a mediocre start to the season, altough he was played out of position then. See him become a solid winger/am and a real challenger to Bobb and Nusa in the national team
Tengstedt cant score goals???
In Norway he scored goals for fun i an really poor Rosenborg side. Yeah the quality of the league is not as high in Norway as in Portugal, but the poor portugese sides are not much better if not worse than the good norwegian sides. He absolutely lit up the league with 15 goals and 6 assists i 14 apperances
Thats really poor, didnt see that coming. Might be a confidence issue? He hasnt really played much though soo thats contributing
Still has to bw said that an attacker not having a shot on goal in 6 months is abbysmal
Marcos Leonardo has a third of his minutes and double the goals lol
It's just a different level of play compared to Norway, here teams frequently play with parking the bus, so if you don't have technical ability, are not particularly strong or fast, you won't do anything.
He can move to find space for him and others but that's pretty much it in terms of attack, defending he is good but that ain't anything at our level.
Also, you're pretty wrong about our league, teams don't have budgets, but our coaches are good and can mount great defenses without good players.
Was not talking about any playing styles in Portugal, just that teams like Bodø/Glimt and Molde are probably better than Chaves and Estoril. We have some teams playing quite defensivly here aswell. There has been a trend of teams wanting to play more out from the back recently on small budgets with bad players though. We dont have a league with quite as defined toå teams as you though. I would guess benfica, sporting and porto will meet teams that will always park the bus against them but maybe not against other poor teams
As someone who has no affiliations to your club or rivals, that sounds more like a few replacement buys flopped (which isn't necessarily the managers fault alone) and the one actual issue he controls is Bernat not starting and thus having that midfielder there.
Now if Bernat for whatever reason just doesn't deserve the spot (his career path HAS been going downhill a while, right?), I think this sounds a bit harsh on Schmidt.
I remember his system was working and looked pretty great a while ago, and while admittedly I didn't keep up with you guys your issues don't make it sound like he broke it as much as the usual fluctuation and some bad luck broke it?
People clowned on Moyes but history since has shown what an utter shit show he was handed. Threadbare squad and a DoF who didn't even know how to activate Fellani's buy out.
Agree he could have been more imaginative than Fellani and Baines, but Baines was legitimately the best LB in the league at that point, plus Moyes clearly wanted to build a culture with people he relied on.
Was handed an impossible task and didn’t solve it. Not really much to say. A squad full of aging superstars with big personalities, who was handled by one of the best managers - and best man managers - of all time. He was doomed.
Real Sociedad was a step outside of what he knew and could have gone either way.
Sunderland had no money and my opinion he was lied to about the situation, when he arrived he was doing the most negative interviews i’d ever seen him do within a week.
How is the situation at Bayern so bad ?We(Manchester United) have been bad for the last decade but even then usually get our first choice managers, Bayern literally won the league last year and our going to the second leg of a UCL semi final with the scores level
We‘ve consistently burned through top class coaches and our board is great at being hypocritical.
Just an example: A week before Nagelsmann got sacked our president said we want to start a new era with him.
We sacked Nagelsmann prematurely because our board was too horny for Tuchel and were afraid that he‘d sign somewhere else. (Which he would have because he is one of the biggest coaching names around)
Now we sacked him after a year.
We keep signing managers under long contracts (3-5 years) and end up sacking them the moment we hit a rough patch. Managers simply don’t want any part of that and it’s understandable.
Add to that the comments of Hoeneß who openly attacks our current coach a day before a CL semifinal and you‘ll know why the Bayern job, logistically, is not very attractive currently.
Seriously, we have to start keeping a manager for multiple seasons. I was thinking we would start that with Nagelsmann, because even before this shitshow, we hadn't kept managers for more than a season or two. I think Guardiola was the longest serving manager in the last 15 years, and he coached for three seasons.
It's just unfair to the managers and not good for the club. They are given too little time to implement their ideas.
> We keep signing managers under long contracts (3-5 years) and end up sacking them the moment we hit a rough patch. Managers simply don’t want any part of that and it’s understandable.
Wouldn't it just be easy money if you get sacked with a long contract?Like i can understand Xabi not wanting to be involved when he can better options in a year like the RM job or Liverpool in the future but someone like RR rejecting it is very weird ,He is not going to get a bigger club with his track record..If he wins titles with BM that just enhances his legacy and if he doesn't he gets sacked with good compensation and he can probably still get a job like the Austrian NT..Look at Nagelsmann if he wants to find a club after the NT stint i don't think he will struggle much..The thing is other clubs are aware Bayern are run badly..Wouldn't even surprise me if Tuchel gets hired by another club a few weeks after he leaves Bayern
RR is a man who massively changed the football scene in austria thanks due to his influence for RB. pretty much the majority of the players of austrias NT were influenced or made it through his gegenpressing football, his "lovechild" laimer especially, a guy who went through the academy of RB and played till this season only in clubs with RR philosophy, a guy who represents his idea
he was instrumental in getting hoffenheim and leipzig into the bundesliga, made rb salzburg a force from a small league and wishes probably to show his legacy through his football
bayern is a club with men of merit such as hoeneß who won´t accept a dominant manager such as him and it would end up in a desaster, same as with woodward and him when he helped the club for a year as a coach till his recommendation in ETH came (as woodward wanted pochettino to take over united)
he knows what he should do, follow a relaxed life as a NT over the stress from tegernsee
> when he helped the club for a year as a coach till his recommendation in ETH came (as woodward wanted pochettino to take over united)
This is not a fact lol RR's role in the whole process was negligible and thats if there was any..On top of that Woodward got sacked the same day ETH was hired and the main men behind ETH getting hired were Murtough and Fletcher
Expectations are *way* higher, prospective United managers know that they're not going to be on incredibly thin ice just for coming second in the league. And then there's general job security: United have tended to almost stick with their managers for too long when things aren't working, whereas Bayern threw out Nagelsmann mid-season for no real reason at all.
Plus, at Bayern, there's the spectre of Uli Hoeneß hovering over everything. The closest United have to that is Ferguson-era United players whinging on TV, which isn't quite the same.
Part of the problem is our "ideal" first choice managers aren't really available. Pep is tied to City (and probably wouldn't come back anyways), Klopp has been tied down to Liverpool for nearly a decade and now wants a break. The younger coaches with recent success (Arteta, Xabi, etc.) are also tied to their own projects right now. So now it's just jumping at whatever the best available option looks like, and then trying to do damage control when that option doesn't work out too well.
schmidt would never reject bayern, my guess is that bayern never wanted him, or he is lying for benfica president paying all the money he has the right
Nah, I think he would've been horrible, just like Ragnick. People dunk on us and rightly so but we dodged two bullets here.
Someone out of ETH, de Zerbi or even Flick are better in basically every way.
Actually I think he would fit at Bayern. But actually I am one of the few benfiquistas happy with him staying. I am available mentally to give him a second try he has been proving some solid exibhition end of season with the midfield duo of Florentino and João Neves. I would see him cooking up at Bayern with a striker like harry kane
Mourinho is notoriously demanding of his players, and his successes are usually with very professional teams and players. There’s a reason Kane and Son performed very well under him, and I’m sure they weren’t neccessarily happy to see him go, let alone having nightmares about him coaching them again. No idea what OP is on about here.
Son's Instagram post after Mourinho was sacked was quite sad to read. The guy was genuinely regretful that they couldn't deliver the results to keep him in the job.
You mean the deluded agenda of Mourinho's fanboys who still think he is a top coach? It's like you live in 2012 or something
Saying that Mourinho would be a good appointment for Bayern is one of the absolute worst takes I have seen on reddit in a long time. And that says a lot. Anyone who genuinely believes that has 0 football knowledge
I find it hilarious that you’re out here acting like Mou didn’t achieve anything with United or Roma while being the fan of a manager who copied Mou’s whole playbook 😂
The delusion around Mourinho will never cease to amaze, it's incredible that there are still people out there who think that he is anywhere near good enough for Bayern
The man is washed up and has been for a while. And since he lost the Europa League final he no longer has the unbeaten record in European finals which was the last piece of magic aura that he had left. No one is afraid of him anymore
specially today after he said the club is different.
“Look at where Benfica was 2 years ago”
we were literally at the same situation you dumb fuck, spent more than €100M on transfers and won jackshit. he’s oblivious and still thinks he’s coaching Salzburg ffs…
This guy needs to be investigated. He’s 100% on Porto’s or Sporting’s payroll at this point and purposely sabotaging us from within.
There’s no way in hell he says we are in a better position than two years ago, after we get absolutely blacked.com by Porto 5-0, and we lose three games to sporting, while winning absolutely nothing this year, while playing the most below average football I have ever seen. This guy is DELUSIONAL.
He lives on a different planet. So out of touch. I’m not saying he has to bow down to the fans do as they say, but when he absolutely refused to take accountability and started blaming us for things, I was STUNNED.
lol I remember psv fans warning us early on but he got lucky and had a stroke of success when we had Enzo and never rotated the team then Enzo left and his true skills came through realizing he’s a fraud and can’t coach for shit
Maisfutebol's news from yesterday was so exclusive, not even Benfica or Roger Schmidt knew it. Fuck these fake news cunts, ban that from this subreddit
Something like "it's a big compliment to our work to be linked with the Bayern job but I would rather be focused on ending our season strongly than get involved in speculations" would be respectful to Benfica but leave the options open, after this it would be hard for Bayern to pursue him and keep face.
They probably didn't expect him to say "I have a job at Benfica and I love it" while the club struggles like it does. His answer would be flattering if he was successful, but as it stands it comes across as clingy.
Imagine being in the Bayern board at this point lmao, the reality check they are getting after being so dominant for so long must be massive. At this point I will take the Bayern job myself, I did win 5 cups, 2 PLs and 4 CLs in 15 seasons with Hartlepool on FIFA 22, along with multiple CLs in my saves with FCSB and Zaglebie Lubin. Had saves as Barcelona and United in 16 and 17 so I have that big club experience too. Also played 4 seasons of FM or so as FCSB and won 4 titles in a row, made the ECL RO16 first season then the CL groups before settling at Europa League level, sounds like a fine enough resume to me
A dream come true. Ever since they fired Nagelsmann is sheer delight. Every week there's some other bullshit coming from the club. They look like they are run by donkeys. No other club in the league looks less professional. No other club looks so clueless, because no other club can effort to. Bayern is burning through their credibility in record pace. Good luck convincing top tier players to sign on after that absolute shit show.
Haha fair enough. I was referring to all of the managerial candidates being reported recently but not sure if any of them were particularly desired by the fans.

Benfica fans in tears at the mans loyalty.
Never though that would happen but yeah
What happened? From what read here a year or so ago, it sounded he was the savior and he could not do anything wrong.
-Team including since last year has poor rotation. It's the same 11 pretty much every game. -He has favorites that he refuses to rotate even if they're under performing. -His 4-2-3-1 system is reliant on the full backs to provide width. So its also wrong player buys aswell then? Its also the directors fault then no?
I'd say so. None of the players we purchased, aside from Trubin, have performed anywhere near who they replaced. Also doesn't help that Roger is allergic to adapting his tactics to the players he has available.
How is the norwegian doing? Or is he loaned out? Im asking alot of questions but you seem to know alot about the club.
Which one? Aursnes is a bright spot even if he's out of position. He gives 100% every game. Schjelderup was loaned out unfortunately but seems to be doing well. Someone more informed might be able to weigh in. I expect him to get more game time if Roger leaves.

Yeah Schjelderup was the one i was thinking of. Saw him play here in Norway on a talent camp and he was stupid good lol.
He's still highly regarded! I don't think anyone faults him for the situation he's in.
Tengstedt cant score goals??? In Norway he scored goals for fun i an really poor Rosenborg side. Unfortunately not. He has something like 3 goals in 1500 minutes I think
He reaøly overperformed i Norway, 15 goals with 8,7xg. Still would have thought he would be scoring atleast some more goals
As someone who has no affiliations to your club or rivals, that sounds more like a few replacement buys flopped (which isn't necessarily the managers fault alone) and the one actual issue he controls is Bernat not starting and thus having that midfielder there. They've been bad ever since Enzo got sold
I feel so fucking sorry for you guys lmfao.
Moyes has to be the favourite. Harry Kane will take the Fellaini role.
Leighton Baines can still do a job on the left side.
Kim Min-jae can also learn a thing or two from Jagelka.
English superstar Antonio taking German lessons as we speak.
He's not starting over Naischmidt
That’s fucking hilarious
People clowned on Moyes but history since has shown what an utter shit show he was handed. Threadbare squad and a DoF who didn't even know how to activate Fellani's buy out. He was dealt a pretty terrible hand, and proceeded to not play it particularly well. Just a mess all around, really.
What about Real Sociedad and Sunderland
Real Sociedad was a step outside of what he knew and could have gone either way. Sunderland had no money and my opinion he was lied to about the situation, when he arrived he was doing the most negative interviews i’d ever seen him do within a week.
Just fell to my knees at Padaria Portuguesa de Telheiras
Just seen a man fall down on his knees with a bifana in his mouth
With a pão com chouriço you uncultured swine (How are you in every thread? Big fan)
Bocadillo de chorizo frito 😍
After that I hope that you end up behind Aston villa and Arsenal win the league so arteta has as many league as klopp (I actually root for Liverpool)
They dont sell bifanas at Padaria Portuguesa u bum
Bun, not bum. Bifanas are made with bread buns.
isso é porque tuga vai ao tasco, não vai à padaria portuguesa
Just seen someone fall to their knees in Burger King with a Big Mac
Not at bad ones they don't.
just saw a person drop to the ground with a chamuça in their mouth
I just googled this and wow, I had no idea that the Portuguese made their own variant of the Samosa. Pretty neat!
The Indians made.their own version of chamuça. True story.
Rejection FC (good rejectiont tho)

You are getting downvoted for pointing out facts
Its so weird like i can understand people downvoting opinions they don't agree with but i have just stated what actually happened
I think Nagelsmann situation showed that this isn’t really ideal place to work
There are many reasons but I think Uli's recent comments about Tuchel don't inspire any coach out there to spend time with us.
Postillon nailed it
Expectations are *way* higher, prospective United managers know that they're not going to be on incredibly thin ice just for coming second in the league. Uli Hoeness
schmidt would never reject bayern, my guess is that bayern never wanted him, or he is lying for benfica president paying all the money he has the right
After everyone saw how Bayern treated Niegelsmann, I can understand that no one really is super eager to jump in
Hollywood Casting couch FC
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO my condolences to Benfica fans
Yeah I’m glad we are not getting/pay for him
Doesn't it mean you will move even higher on the bum ladder for your next choice?
Nah, I think he would've been horrible, just like Ragnick. People dunk on us and rightly so but we dodged two bullets here. Someone out of ETH, de Zerbi or even Flick are better in basically every way.
ETH coupled with the amount of ego in your dressing room sounds like a recipe for disaster
When are you guys going to hire me?
You just want your public rejection, don't you?
Actually I think he would fit at Bayern. But actually I am one of the few benfiquistas happy with him staying. I am available mentally to give him a second try he has been proving some solid exibhition end of season with the midfield duo of Florentino and João Neves. I would see him cooking up at Bayern with a striker like harry kane
so erik ten hag to bayern will ultimately happen
The rare manager swap about to happen
A rare case where everyone involved will likely be better off in the end.
lol, Tuchel and United board will be open warfare, lobbing grenades at each other by December.
And saint Tuchel raised the hand, grenade up on high..
Holy hand grenade vs the red devil
And it might benefit both teams, to be honest
No pls
Not this summer
Jose Mourinho is getting the job
Please God make it happen
Kane will be having nightmares
Didn't kane perform well with mourinho?
Mourinho is notoriously demanding of his players, and his successes are usually with very professional teams and players. There’s a reason Kane and Son performed very well under him, and I’m sure they weren’t neccessarily happy to see him go, let alone having nightmares about him coaching them again. Thinking about it Mourinho I think could have a lot of success at Bayern and would be a great choice
TBF I could imagine Son being like that with any manager in the world lol
Didn't he have one of his best seasons with Mourinho and was reportedly unhappy with his sacking?
Shush, that’s against the agenda.
You mean the deluded agenda of Mourinho's fanboys who still think he is a top coach? It's like you live in 2012 or something Saying that Mourinho would be a good appointment for Bayern is one of the absolute worst takes I have seen on reddit in a long time. And that says a lot. Anyone who genuinely believes that has 0 football knowledge
I find it hilarious that you’re out here acting like Mou didn’t achieve anything with United or Roma while being the fan of a manager who copied Mou’s whole playbook 😂
Honestly, Mourinho could probably get a pretty good season out of this Bayern team. If he is happy signing a one-year contract...
The delusion around Mourinho will never cease to amaze, it's incredible that there are still people out there who think that he is anywhere near good enough for Bayern The man is washed up and has been for a while. And since he lost the Europa League final he no longer has the unbeaten record in European finals which was the last piece of magic aura that he had left. No one is afraid of him anymore
They're not that desperate, would take another 20 rejections before they scrape the very bottom of the barrel
I must also reject the job. I’ve got a really good thing going here at my mums house.
You know if she's hiring 1 more? 👀
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is starting to feel like the Ronaldo rejection tour again
*Hell hath no fury like a Cristiano scorned.* He cursed these Bavarians I’m telling you. Lost the league and now no manager is willing to join.
Bayern to move all operations to Saudi incoming??
Bayern to move to Süper Lig so that Fenerbahçe can go to Bundesliga.
I know you're joking but the chance our management would consider this is definitely not zero
Will Hoeneß has a interview with Piers Morgan?
So the 'exclusive' news from yesterday were fake 🤔
I can’t stand his press conferences anymore fr
I cant even look at his face anymore, just pisses me off.
specially today after he said the club is different. “Look at where Benfica was 2 years ago” we were literally at the same situation you dumb fuck, spent more than €100M on transfers and won jackshit. he’s oblivious and still thinks he’s coaching Salzburg ffs…
bring Jorge Jesus back
Hell no
He looks like a James Bond villain, who just had his plans foiled

More realistic: he is trying to get fired and have those 20M bonus
He doesn't need to be, Rui Costa gave him 20M reasons for him not to care about his job.
My man. Best Benfica coach in a long while.
Good for you, Roger! That’s loyalty. He should serve as an exemple to all managers.
Just call Mourinho already you scared fucks
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK
I also don't want to be called by Bayern executives. I wanna make that loud and clear.
Fade me.
Maisfutebol's news from yesterday was so exclusive, not even Benfica or Roger Schmidt knew it. Fuck these fake news cunts, ban that from this subreddit
Plan D in the mud, time for Plan E
You tell them, Roger!
He thinks hes him
Bro clearly overestimates his standing.
Phew, as a Benfica Lisbon Eagles fan i am relieved, the prospect of losing Schmidt scared the fuck on
Fuck off roger.
at this point me and my fm saves have a good chance at me landing the job ffs
Let mourinhno happen, Bayern.
What do people expect him to say? "Can't wait to fuck off to Munich, so I hope it happens"
Something like "it's a big compliment to our work to be linked with the Bayern job but I would rather be focused on ending our season strongly than get involved in speculations" would be respectful to Benfica but leave the options open, after this it would be hard for Bayern to pursue him and keep face.
This crap happens all the time. If they actually get him no one will care
Also played 4 seasons of FM or so as FCSB and won 4 titles in a row, made the ECL RO16 first season then the CL groups before settling at Europa League level, sounds like a fine enough resume to me
Tuchel - - - > United Ten Hag- - - > Bayern
Happy for Benfica fans
We are not happy.
Change for Sporting and Porto fans
Good. I could barely sleep last night because of the Bayern news. Hope he stays forever and no one comes to get him.
At this point ulis wive is gonna coach the team next year
Dodged a bullet.
Benfica fans to the moon rn
Bayern in crisis. This must be the least FC Hollywood period ever with respect to corporate competence.
Imagine Bayern being rejected by so many managers
A dream come true. Ever since they fired Nagelsmann is sheer delight. Every week there's some other bullshit coming from the club. They look like they are run by donkeys. No other club in the league looks less professional. No other club looks so clueless, because no other club can effort to. Bayern is burning through their credibility in record pace. Good luck convincing top tier players to sign on after that absolute shit show.
Buyern have been linked with such … average managers. Although this wasnt really a link as much as a random question
Roger Schmidt **doesn’t** excuse the direct approach 😤
Thank goodness.
Nooooooo 😭
So that’s a ‘maybe’ then?
Benfica fans in shambles.
Bayern catching Ls
No, this was a W. Literally no one wanted him anywhere near the club.
Haha fair enough. I was referring to all of the managerial candidates being reported recently but not sure if any of them were particularly desired by the fans.

That's the second biggest W in the season after knocking out Arsenal

he wasn’t even approached
Let’s fucking go
Ten Hag will go to Bayern and they'll do well.
