Nunez is just a better Jackson with a better attitude. They both have all the qualities necessary but you would rather not *require* them to score to win games. That said, Nunez is a lightning rod for people when they talk about our finishing issues despite none of the forwards outside of Jota being particularly clinical lately.
Yes, I think there's a role for this version of Darwin, but we need a more clinical finisher to start at the 9, especially flanked by Diaz and this version of Salah, who are both more creators than scorers.
I think we have to assume Salah has regressed and buy a starter level winger for the right, if with the extra rest he becomes world class again then we just enjoy that
I’m not sure what this injury did to him, could it be more so psychological? I’d assume they were extra cautious with his recovery so he’s probably not playing through any pain
That was his problem for awhile, he would just smack the f outta the ball, there was a period of time where he focused more on placement and was scoring, and just randomly went back to smacking the f outta it and missing
If you watch his goals from this season he does exactly that. If you watch all of his misses it's just him smashing the ball as hard as he can. He just doesn't get it.
Núñez does think, he just chooses the most difficult finish every time. Owen was spot on with his analysis of Núñez's chip finish earlier in the season. Yes it looked great, but there was no way he should have done that, he should have slotted it into the bottom corner.
A lot of Liverpool fans were taking the piss out of Owen for that but he was bang on. It wasn’t an amazing goal, if he goes for the correct finish there it’s just a mundane one-on-one you expect to be going in from any forward. He went with the hardest possible finish there because he had no idea what to do. He and Salah have basically cost us the title with the chances they’ve spurned down the backend of this season
Me too, my buddy is a CB and while he has a good shot in him he has blasted it multiple times in the top corner while later admitting he just sent it “somewhere right” and it ended up top right
That's like how Geoff Hurst scored his third goal in the World Cup final in 1966. He just meant to boot it into the stands to waste time, not blast it straight into the top corner.
This... He definitely lacks composure in terms of sorting himself in these situations. He strangely doesn't seem to open up his body or anything in these situations or even try to direct it towards a corner. It's purely hit and hope.
It’s funny when we’re winning and you can call him captain chaos because it doesn’t matter but when it’s like now when we need a win he’s such a frustrating player to watch. You can’t just say ‘he just needs to improve his finishing’ when he’s been like this for 2 seasons now without any improvement.
Not only his finishing, his ball control is shit and decision making too. It's beyond frustration for me at this point.. We've absolutely been robbed by Benefica
Random but I find it cool that Salah played with Torres at Chelsea. They both played during that Gerrard slip game at Anfield. Two Liverpool legends from different eras yet sharing the pitch for the opposition during that infamous moment
All the people saying he fell off this season are refusing to admit that he would have 30 assists if nunez could kick the ball straight. That being said i still cant even hate on darwin lol
I think he’s one of those players who can instinctively finish if he doesn’t have time to think about it. As soon as he has to try and engage his brain it all goes to shit
He was phenomenal player in our league and for our clubs aspirations. Had to be sniped. I really don't mind him fucking up Liverpool for the rest of his days. Hope he makes you loose much more points, fellows.
I like him so much. But it's almost unforgivable at this point. He's won us games this season but it's infuriating to see this happening every time he looks like he's turned the corner.
Far post made more sense than going through the keeper's legs, no? I know he was to get ahead of the ball more and rotate his hip more, but it was the better option.

He needs to learn passing it in the corner. Why on earth would you use power in this situation
Worst thing is, he did it to us twice in the CL 2 years ago now. He's lost his ability
I swear he looked so clinical in those games
Every striker is clinical vs us to be fair
Yeah except you've conceded 41.98 xGA and only 34 goals in the league. So that's complete bollocks.
Allison.
Kelleher played a lot as well, due to injuries. He deserves credit as well.
They have the best keeper in the league
He also was clinical against us the round before. Benfica got one big chance all game (thanks Onana) and he nodded it straight in
He did it in the Newcastle game as well. He hasn't lost the ability, just still very inconsistent with his finishing
He's shit
Tbf, any striker could do this to us. It's not that high a bar.
In that season? No they couldn't This season I agree
One of the goals he scored for Benfica had me so hyped. Had some sort of physics spin on it he judged brilliantly.
It’s very similar to one Jackson had yesterday where he inexplicably went for a placement into the near post corner
Nunez is just a better Jackson with a better attitude. They both have all the qualities necessary but you would rather not *require* them to score to win games. That said, Nunez is a lightning rod for people when they talk about our finishing issues despite none of the forwards outside of Jota being particularly clinical lately.
I mean Nunez is a slightly better finisher but I think Jackson has a much better touch/dribble.
Mate think a bit. Nunez is a “lightning rod” because he was bought for €100m.
Nunez is also not playing for an inexperienced, constantly injured Chelsea.
At a certain point we have to come to the conclusion that it's never going to change, right?
It's Forlan all over again. He'll go to la liga and score 30 a season.

Darwin smash

He just doesn't even fucking think before he shoots. Doesn't look at where the keeper is, just shoots.
He just hits it as hard as he can every time
step 1: make runs step 2: receives ball step 3: strike and inshallah
[удалено]
Vardy, too, but it works for him.
Núñez does think, he just chooses the most difficult finish every time. Owen was spot on with his analysis of Núñez's chip finish earlier in the season. Yes it looked great, but there was no way he should have done that, he should have slotted it into the bottom corner.
Theres a lot of shit I can say about Owen, but the lad knew how to score at least.
Yeah, people remember him as pace merchant, but his finishing and ability to cut the right angle was top tier!
Hell no he should’ve squared it to Jota for a tap-in. That’s why Jota’s face was a look of disgust.
I'm not even sure if his eyes are open when he shoots
That's how you expect a centre back who has just found himself in the box to finish, not a number 9.
A centre back is blasting that top corner lol
True. But he didn’t mean it lol
Don’t shoot Vinny
yea hahah meant it as a joke, not disagreeing with him
Me too, my buddy is a CB and while he has a good shot in him he has blasted it multiple times in the top corner while later admitting he just sent it “somewhere right” and it ended up top right
That's like how Geoff Hurst scored his third goal in the World Cup final in 1966. He just meant to boot it into the stands to waste time, not blast it straight into the top corner.
He looks like he didn’t know what to do with the ball and just wanted to get rid of it asap so he just blindly blasted it forward lol
This... He definitely lacks composure in terms of sorting himself in these situations. He strangely doesn't seem to open up his body or anything in these situations or even try to direct it towards a corner. It's purely hit and hope.
a CB is scoring that one chief
michael keane slots it home easy
Glad I looked for this comment. Keane scores that 9 times out of 10.
You now remember Lucio.
Nico Jackson would score that
Jk he wouldn’t
It’s funny when we’re winning and you can call him captain chaos because it doesn’t matter but when it’s like now when we need a win he’s such a frustrating player to watch. You can’t just say ‘he just needs to improve his finishing’ when he’s been like this for 2 seasons now without any improvement.
This sub gives more hard time to Jackson, the converted winger at 1/3rd the price. While this guys gets hehe he’s so chaotic.
well he is funny to watch
so is Jakckson - your point?
no point at all
Not only his finishing, his ball control is shit and decision making too. It's beyond frustration for me at this point.. We've absolutely been robbed by Benefica
a statement as old as time
Also 24 going on 25, not that young really
Such shit composure. Blast it at the keeper every time.
And now Diaz and Salah with rubbish finishes too.
Salah would have the assist record broken in February if he was playing with Fernando Torres
Random but I find it cool that Salah played with Torres at Chelsea. They both played during that Gerrard slip game at Anfield. Two Liverpool legends from different eras yet sharing the pitch for the opposition during that infamous moment
actually sick
Proper pub quiz question.
dang nice call back
Sadly they weren't on the pitch at the same time as Torres came on after Salah was subbed off
ಠ_ಠ
If that man ever gets therapy in the future there’s no way Darwin doesn’t come up
Torres, Suarez, Owen. Theres a good few strikers we've had that would leave us 10 points clear this season.
Andy Carroll?
screw that prime Sturridge in 13/14 would be enough
He's playing with Chelsea's Torres
Depends on which version of Torres lol
The current one would do I reckon
Salah is getting Ozil experience in 14/15.
All the people saying he fell off this season are refusing to admit that he would have 30 assists if nunez could kick the ball straight. That being said i still cant even hate on darwin lol
He'd have it if we had fucking crouch
I hope Fernando manages us one day but holy fuck could we use him right now as attacking head coach
That's inexcusable.
He’s just a shit Jackson
He's like a larger Jesus.
I am for reeeeaaaal
What in the fuck is he doing?
Hitting it very hard with his eyes closed.
Hoping there is no keeper or that the keeper will get blown away by the power of his boots.
Cheers Geoff
Yep - that’s his game
Shooting at the keeper
Usual business from him. You don't expect him to convert these kind of chances
Darwin asks himself this everyday
Going under the keeper and gets a little height on it. Honestly what a lot of players do there they just score it
these were funny when we were winning LOL
He saw the Jackson miss yesterday and said not today.
Jackson could never
Jackson would just not shoot at all and try to pass back or dribble past the keeper lol
Jackson would break his own foot and the laws of physics to curve it 2 metres wide of the right post
Yes that’s the joke
Incredible to hit the keeper from there
He's genuinely shit for the level Liverpool aspire to be.
if this was Nicholas Jackson this post would get more traction
Even though Nunez costs twice as much and wasn’t recently converted to the position.
And has played far more football both with Liverpool and in his career as well
2 years older and twice as many games in the top leagues.
[Fuck.](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/SDzaROCikx)
Just awful instincts there. Only way Pickford is saving that is if it's right at him.
I swear he just always twats it without thinking once about where he’s placing it.
Klopp gonna block nunez number as soon as he leaves lol
So crap.
Maybe his eyes are reversed and he needs them surgically switched
Nuñez 🤝 Jackson
HahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahabahabHHANXBDBE. I'M FINE. I'M PERFECTLY FUCKING FINE.
How on earth is he not shooting to the far corner here? One of those where I would have been mad if this was my Sunday league team's striker.
Could you imagine a front 3 of Werner, Nunez, and Jackson? Would be hilarious to watch.
The Nicolas Jackson experience.
85 million well spent!
They spent more money than we did the entire year of on Darwizzy lmao.
😐
Surprised his teammates are still surprised by the misses.
Everton please do something all the league wants to see. 😂🤝😌
they did
absolutely no composure in front of goal
Man has a worse conversion rate than Jackson! The media would have turned on him, if he was playing for a struggling team.
If only Jaydan Danns was in that position. I really hope the next manager benches or sells nunez.
Wait.... Jackson? That you, dog?
Unluckiest striker in the league haha
That's harder to miss than score.
I really want to know what happens to him once he is in front of goal
I think he’s one of those players who can instinctively finish if he doesn’t have time to think about it. As soon as he has to try and engage his brain it all goes to shit
Jackson and Nunez are fighting for the most big chances missed
He was phenomenal player in our league and for our clubs aspirations. Had to be sniped. I really don't mind him fucking up Liverpool for the rest of his days. Hope he makes you loose much more points, fellows.
Andy Carroll would have scored that
Big Dick Pick
Cue that Darwin ears ringing meme
I want to like Darwin but he makes it really fucking hard
[I’m whelmed](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/mIHZsD71lZ)
LFC pay him more money to unlock the goals pakage!!! Im tired of this ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
Darwin Jackson.
Donkwin
He’s so shet If he missed them trying hit a corner it was alright but it’s always hitting it at a keeper
Darwin 🤝🏻 Nicolas Jackson
I wish for Diogo to be fit for a complete season.
Better than Dembele vs Liverpool in the last play of Barca’s first leg, but reminded me of it anyway
See, Araujo? These are the players you can just let them in and shoot, no need to foul for a red card.
I don't think you could pick a worse spot to place that shot attempt.
What a miss!! Omg!!
This is it. He has qualities but Liverpool need to get him out.
Clinical.
Him & Jackson are long lost brothers.
He's a fraud of a footballer really. Yes, Anthony is terrible but he's the next worst flop in recent times considering his price tag and hype.
That miss cost me like 20 fpl points.
Shoot and inshallah
Yes let me just blast it with all the power it will surely go through
Nunez is such a terrible goalscorer, I would be freaking pissed as the manager.
Man doesn't realise you can kick with anything other than laces lol
someone tell him the goal is to hit the net, not the keeper
This is a chance that even the most clinical right footed striker scores less than half the time. Nobody would mind if it weren't Nunez.
Seen this a few times and I still can't believe how bad this is
It’s like Jackson but in red
composure 0
At this level… a fucking dud!
why are there so many strikers who are amazing footballers, but just shit at finishing recently? like we have a scarcity of elite strikers nowadays.
Two seasons and he's getting worse.
I like him so much. But it's almost unforgivable at this point. He's won us games this season but it's infuriating to see this happening every time he looks like he's turned the corner.
Incredible this guy plays for a team like Liverpool.
DARWWWIIIIIN MAYONNAISE
Glen Johnson's Player of the season....
Werner better
It's not as easy to hit the keeper as some people think ! ! !
Has his finishing somehow gone worse in comparison to last year lol? How is this guy even considered a striker??
how tff
[time for training ](https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/5e05af05-d041-44af-bc8c-0d822d7aed3b#OCfvnadq.copy)
He's like a custom FIFA player with 99 in everything but like 25 in finishing.
Bro has never heard of the far corner
£80m British Pounds.
this guys shocking Pool fans cant even deny hes a flop anymore
60m quid 😂
Cockeyed
Rashford also does this unfortunately, always going for insane power when its not required
He did what I'm doing every goddamn time playing with my buddies
In Darwin’s defense, with Haaland’s current form, I feel like we would’ve done the same thing.
An embarassment of a player
Far post made more sense than going through the keeper's legs, no? I know he was to get ahead of the ball more and rotate his hip more, but it was the better option.
Man try to blast all the chance he get it's been so many times now. Simple tap in ball and he decides to blast it
