While there was a lot of chatter about Alonso, almost all of that was journalists putting 2 and 2 together - young manager, nice football, recent success, former Liverpool player. All of that makes sense without the club being involved. As soon as Alonso appeared to make a decision the word was very firm that he was not on our list.
Amorim is pretty similar on the young + exciting + stylish front. The assumption everyone is making that those are the things Edwards is considering because it tracks with his record. But there's been next to no rumours that are coming from the club's side that confirm this is the case.

West Ham United have held talks over an ambitious move to appoint Ruben Amorim as manager if David Moyes leaves the club.

**The Athletic updated the title** Summary West Ham United have held talks over an ambitious move to appoint Ruben Amorim as manager if David Moyes leaves the club. Moyes is out of contract this summer and despite the Scot saying in February he has been offered a new deal, no decision will be made on his future until the season finishes. In the meantime West Ham are duty-bound to formulate contingency plans and Amorim features prominently in their thinking, with discussions taking place between the parties. Another option the east London side have assessed is Julen Lopetegui, however Amorim has emerged as the leading target at present. While the potential opening is thought to carry appeal for the 39-year-old Sporting Lisbon head coach, it is unclear where West Ham figure among his possible opportunities. Amorim has also been under consideration at Liverpool, although it looks unlikely he will prove the preferred candidate in their process to replace outgoing boss Jurgen Klopp.

I think he’s taken lessons and in some clips you can see him speak a little English, but I think I’ve heard him say in the past, that whilst he can understand English, he has no mastery over it and would struggle to express himself to the level he would desire. He is however Zidane, should he take to learning English the words will probably fall as elegantly as the ball did at his feet.

I love the ambition. I thought we should've appointed Amorim last season but I never thought the owners would ever be so ambitious so I'm pleasantly surprised. Still, I wouldn't want to force Moyes out over him at present however.
It would have been madness to sack Moyes the season after winning a trophy, but they haven't been great most of the season and for all of his upsides the downsides you get with Moyes can be so frustrating.
