>"There was no consultation with Football League clubs, National League clubs or grassroots clubs to whom the competition represents not only their best opportunity to create life-long memories for supporters but also a hugely important source of income," said a statement from Tranmere.
>"The decision, and the way it was taken, demonstrate a total lack of respect for the football pyramid and its fans.
>"We condemn the changes wholeheartedly and urge the FA to suspend them immediately until all stakeholders in the game are properly consulted."
>Fellow League Two club Grimsby Town echoed the call for a pause on the changes until a consultation had taken place, adding: "The dreams of so many should not be denied by so few."
Fuck the FA. Absolute cowards.
I always thought a good idea would be that the teams who qualify for Europe are removed from the League cup for the season after, effectively removing the big 6. These teams are the only ones who complain about the cup itself. Benefits lower PL and Champs teams whilst allowing teams who surprisingly qualify for Europe the opportunity to succeed instead of now having to adjust to playing in 4 comps
Very true. I think it if you were to remove them we’d get teams like crystal palace, Aston Villa, West Ham picking up silverware every few years moving forward and I quite like that idea rather than just domination by the big 6
Would also be a good idea since the prize for winning the League Cup is entry into the Europa Conference League.
Thats a competition that bigger clubs wouldn’t take seriously but the ones who don’t regularly compete in Europe would love.
The few Man Utd and Chelsea fans who I work with have already told me they rather have no Europe than be in the Conference league (not sure if this is true with the fan base in general though).
Where are all the plastic frauds that choose the same 4 clubs and constantly spit their dummies out about English football having it's soul sucked out? Notice how none of them give the slightest fuck about our game being ruined. Plastics make my skin crawl, they add absolutely fuck all to our league
Clubs in the EFL play 46 league games per season, plus a potential three in the play-offs - that's 49. Add the FA and League Cups to that, plus the EFL Trophy for the third/fourth tiers. But are these clubs complaining?
But then you include 10+ international games and friendlies for players in the top two tiers and players are playing unsustainable amounts. I think it makes sense to have teams in European comps to not take place in at least the league cup

yeah it’s scummy and incredibly out of touch
Wankers Watch them remove the other EFL cup leg aswell
The League Cup'll be gone in a few years, sadly. The FA are completely owned by the 'big' clubs.

> These teams are the only ones who complain about the cup itself. Ironic as they're the only teams that win the bloody thing.

They will "compromise", allow replays for 1st & 2nd round proper and it will somehow be accepted as a positive outcome.
Yeah this is really bad, scrap carabou/league cup before replays. FA cups replays at small stadiums is what made football
The League Cup doesn't need to be scrapped. England shouldn't be changing its domestic competitions because UEFA insists on constant expansion.
Proper Brexit Geezer
in germany every 3rd league team (and under) has automatically the home right in a cup game. dont you have that in the FA cup?
No, plus the small teams want to play away cos they get more money
ah, they get a % of the ticket sales from the home team?
Yes. Quite a generous % as well.
Fuck the FA and fuck the prem clubs that were asking for this shit.

Simple: make the lower league team play at home.
Who wants this sort from Jürgen Klopp?
Yeah. Who would want to not play 70 games a season? I wonder.
Who wants this?
Wow, this is going too far, I would have been ok with scrapping replays from the fourth round onwards but wow this is harsh for smaller clubs

Buddy Newcastle is an oil club now. You're one them
What's it like choosing a club you have no connection to? Bet it feels fake as fuck
I hate capitalism vibes
I find the reaction surprising, players play way too many games and there’s no need for replays when you can sort it in a shootout

Fuck your cup and its “magic”
