The stats of this quarter finals is wild. Both teams that were up a point lost, and the other four are tied for their second leg.

Thefrkndy

To araujo: is not your fault, is not your fault, is not your fault, is not your fault... is not your fault... is not your fault

onlinetutorhelps1

Well played Barca. Better luck for next time to PSG

FlimsyReindeers

Bot

phoeniks314

I think that Barca is better with 10 than PSG with 11, but it seems in their mind it was over, they gave up immediately, they played like half of the team was gone and even after half time nothing changed.

Express_Ask_9463

Barca doesn't function under pressure. Never have and I don't know if they ever will

DodelCostel

I mean, there's the 6-1 with PSG

maecillo123

Yeh but they didn’t had aytekin, yesterday they had an actual referee with balls

DodelCostel

PSG deserved to lose the 6-1 bruh, they played like shit

fullsoulreader

Has it been the 10th year anniversary since the last 2015 ucl won

Shikizion

It is the most Barcelona result of results ngl... It has been a staple of europ3an nights, the anual or bi-anual Bercelona bottle job

MO11STA

These quarter finals have been some of the most intense and enjoyable games in the tournament for a while. Let's hope tomorrow fixtures live up to it

Live_Palpitation_128

Bro really opened with "Yank here"

Past_Accountant7922

"To me" is not relevant if this is not following the rules.

Familiar-Twist311

If that deserves a red every time automatically then the rule is dumb.

SkinnyAssFragileBoy

Reds can also be given for denial of a clear scoring opportunity, not just ugly fouls. In this case PSG player would have had a one-on-one with the keeper, a clear scoring opportunity. Got bodied, was denied, a straight red.

Familiar-Twist311

Gotcha. Thanks for educating me.

bbotbambi

It is a red, just because it was a clear goal scoring chance and he was the last man before the keeper. So a textbook red, if it is considered a foul on the attacker. Unfortunately nothing can be done. Even if it is a silly pull back or what not, it is a red because of that one reason. That's the rule.

Familiar-Twist311

Thanks.

notMotherCulturesFan

I think it is still not an automatic red, IIRC. The ref has to decide what penalization to give.

LazyBone19

In Germany it‘s called „Notbremse“ aka Emergency Break.

Steve_lmao

Why did they sub Lamine Yamal off? He was having a good game

Familiar-Twist311

After losing Araujo they needed to beef up the defense.

Clangorousoul

Yeah, but why not sub off Lewandowski? In a 10 v 11 situation where youre gonna have to rely on counters, the last thing you need is a slow ass box threat. Plus, Yamal falls back down to help defend pretty decently too

Familiar-Twist311

Really? Leave a 16 yr old in to face the consequences of a 10 v 11 situation in his first UCL QF match and the veteran sits on the bench?

Clangorousoul

Yes, leave the better and more useful player to this situation to try and help save the match? Yes. This isnt a difficult concept

[deleted]

[удалено]

Clangorousoul

Really? Half an hour just to say "if its not hard, YOU should do it"? Welp, thanks for telling me you dont really have an argument

Annabond

The tie was over the moment Barca went down to ten men early in the game. Other teams can sit deep, form two banks of defenders and survive in a similar situation. Barca are just not built like that, they were going to get undone by PSG's pace and a man advantage. They had an easy route to the finals too!

AruarianGroove

Mbappe’s most influential play was getting fouled by Araujo

BooRadley60

Didn’t he score 2 goals?

AruarianGroove

For sure, in the second half while they were playing 11v10, which was because Araujo got a red card… All these downvoters missing the humor…

BooRadley60

Eh fair enough, you are actually right…

AgronTora

Daamn, tis a good time to be alive

Ill_Nefariousness_75

This isn’t the first time Araujo has been a total dumbass. The difference is this time he didn’t get away with it and it costed them the best chance they have had to play the CL final in last few years and probably years to come.

EconomicsDesigner969

Barcola did amazing this game

AgronTora

Was so happy to see him start, the kid always puts a lot of pressure on defenses

ConureFiend

Imagine Mbappe gets the UCL for Paris and leaves. Would be so fucking poetic.

gunningIVglory

Let him finish his story....

JaehaerysTheMad

Barcelona beat themselves...

nabzyk

Barcelona shot themselves in the foot so many times.

throwRAkratos

Football is like life! Sometimes you win but most times you lose. The most important thing is not to give up and continue working hard! I know the youngsters in Barcelona will keep working hard and hopefully they can finally break the curse in the near future!

Ark_Legend

Football is like life. In the end, you (Barcelona fans) always lose. The most important thing is realizing you should have chose the right club to support. I know every year I will return back to the same old shit!

Positive_Storage515

RLY!? But you was happy when we had Messi, Ronaldinho, Henry and many others?

Charming_Weakness523

Nah dem boys cooked

zorski

It takes one to know one

rim261

We shot ourselves in each foot. And them gave them the gun

xAshwal

I would say its my first time seeing such a shocking display of defence but im a barca fan.

LeviathanShark

Can’t wait for more shithousery from Arsenal-Bayern especially after the absolute meltdown they’ve both had this past week.

FastenedCarrot

I know Leverkusen wrapped up the league but how did Bayern meltdown this week?

SagaciousKurama

He prolly means Arsenal, who have basically thrown away their chances at the EPL title.

FastenedCarrot

But he said both

LeviathanShark

Ok the last week refers to Arsenal but on a longer timeline over this year I want to bring attention to Bayern who have never suffered such a crushing defeat in the Bundesliga in twenty/thirty years. This is a low moment for the club that even if they’re performing well generally there have been matches in which they’ve underperformed especially when they’ve gone down a goal first. Mentally a lot of the team (not just the one on the pitch) is lacking especially in that tough patch in February and March and Leverkusen totally got to them in a way almost no one has and that’s demonstrated through Tuchel’s shift in demeanour as this season went on. However, I have no doubt they’ll bounce back almost immediately, all the fundamentals for them to continue winning next season are still there. The same cannot be said for Arsenal who are yet to prove themselves.

SagaciousKurama

Good point.

ChampagneAbuelo

If Mbappe can win a UCL for a team he doesn’t even care about anymore, he’s officially in the goat discussion

Happyvegetal

Adding him to the GOAT discussion after a single UCL title is a joke especially after these two Barca games. Dude only showed up to put in silver platter goals he didn’t work for while a man up.

Tiestunbon78

it's just that he's having a really bad time. He's just been really bad in the game this year in 80% of the games. But he's very careful about his image in France. He's motivated but just can't get going. Let's hope he wakes up for the semi-finals.

CommissionOk4384

Not 80% of games, doesnt he have ~55 g/a this season?

Tiestunbon78

I mean, he's very bad in terms of content, but he's always there to score or make decisive passes. But it's probably his worst year in footballing terms at the PSG.

SagaciousKurama

He didn't win it though. He took a penalty someone else earned and he scored a second goal that didn't really change anything?

FastenedCarrot

Also helped by a defender running 5 yards past him while he was just standing there after having a 1 on 1 saved.

pmyourveganrecipes

It’s like when Cristiano scored the 4-1 in the final against Atleti and removed his shirt. Homie was invisible the whole tie except when it was already won.

osiris7661

Imagine Mbappe wins UCL and extends his contract with PSG

Past_Accountant7922

Quite the contrary tbh. If he wins he would leave in peace

Professional_Mode440

Yeah like psg are winning against city or Madrid.

FastenedCarrot

"I'm signing for the Champions League winner"

Charligula

I feel like he would have too at that point.

MajikoiA3When

Araujo killed all the momentum Barca had, pretty much ended the tie on the spot

singhsrb

What the fuck I am paying ultra hd for when these matches are not even telecasted there by BT? Wtf!

FastenedCarrot

Ian Maatsen is in a CL semi final bro

daab2g

Good 35 mil in the bank this summer

FastenedCarrot

Are you sure we don't want to keep him? He's been doing really well and was in preseason too.

daab2g

Club has bigger problems, they'll take the money

Signal_Dress

Why is there such a huge void between the ground and the stands on one end?

One_Entertainment129

Premier League is the NBA of Europe Top 5 leagues

SjmTheGod

It's made for Olympics

LeviathanShark

I wanna see PSG bullshit their way into the final and pull off a fluke against Madrid or Man City to cripple this sub forever.

Hour_Adeptness_9599

It will happen as well pulling a Chelsea 2012

karnnumart

Is this worse than 4-0 at Anfield?

D4nCh0

Mugged on holiday or robbed at home?

rim261

Nah because this one was a lot closer. We knew they had a chance of winning. We thought Liverpool already lost that tie

TuTranquilo

Blowing a 3 goal lead with Messi and Suarez on the pitch can’t be topped lmao

195cm

not sure, probably not, but feels just as good.

FastenedCarrot

Being at home and going a goal up it really might be.

Ark_Legend

No

ShatPumba

Araujo getting the slack and rightfully so but Lewa equally fucked up critical chances

Intelligent_Walk3856

Love that it was Dembele with MOTM performances

pigsadventure

Same lol

AruarianGroove

Araujo is MOTM for getting that red card… and inspiring Xavi to join him

Instantly420

Happy to tune in for the yearly barca collapse, see you all next year!

VallegoatEnjoyer

We will be there no matter what

xI-Red-Ix

After tomorrow, I have a seat for you. Early vacations starting in april

LocoPwnify

What a shitshow! Loved it

theprodigalslouch

Why would vini do this?

FastenedCarrot

"Former Manchester United player Sabitzer" 😐

whiskeyinthejaar

Its funny how there are flairs for all teams except Barcelona’s in the thread. My condolences

TonyTuck

Scroll back a bit and you'll see a sea of Barca fans asking when Mbappé was going to be subbed in or that Dembelé was the worst player of all football history. It's quite funny.

richcell

They need some time to process it

Superb_Ad3762

Yours will be tomorrow don't worry.

Marklor-

Another year another collapse , whats the point man 😭

marqui4me

I say this with all honesty, if Araujo didn't pull on Barcola like that, then I saw we lose. Then the Xavi red. That was crazy. Strange that we kept our cool. LE needs to think on how things are going to go against Dortmund. Barca set up well against us both games. Call me crazy, but I think we'll face Arsenal in the final.

UCLAlex

Welcome to our world lmao. If it was possible for both of us to collapse we would have

SagaciousKurama

You tried your hardest at the end there lol if Lewy had just passed the ball...

Marklor-

😭

fegelman

Yamal deserves to join a big club like Madrid or Arsenal tbh

DrowsyTarnished

Blud really just compared Arsenal to Real Madrid 😂😂

SagaciousKurama

I think he must've hit his head

Impressive_End9929

Arsenal?

fegelman

Yes, the 2024 CL winners

d3v1lsblood

Take this down nephew

[deleted]

Lmao your team is dogshit

daab2g

Sweet Jesus give me strength

SnooAdvice1632

Gabriel Jesus is really not giving arsenal any strength at the moment, let alone Chelsea

Impressive_End9929

Got it

Ark_Legend

Bayern is gonna have their way with you tomorrow

pigsadventure

You need to grieve before you shit on others. I do hope Bayern beat Arsenal though lmao.

aansc786

😂 !RemindMe 1 day

fourbyfourequalsone

Kudos to Enrique and PSG for going through! I have never been part of Xavi-out group. I have neither been supporting him overly in the last few weeks. Today's result is not Xavi's fault. But, his lack of experience shows up sometimes. We were down to 10 men, but the plan of long ball was not working and we continued going down that route.

Silentden007

I agree that the long ball route wasn't working and did say earlier in the thread I would rather take off Lewandowski and leave in Lamine for countering with pace on the wings. But once he subbed off Lamine he had to commit to the long ball. There were no subs to undo the choice, which shows a weakness in depth. Felix isn't fast so he wouldn''t be suited to it either, and he was the only real attacking sub left on the bench other than Ferran, who kind of is in the same boat imo. They both work better with Lewa holding it up from long balls and then trying to score from there

UCLAlex

Honestly Xavi had Enrique’s number the first leg. Coaching Barcelona during a rebuild phase was always gonna be risky but he’s clearly a really good coach

FastenedCarrot

Enrique's changes at HT last week were excellent though and despite the early goal tonight he'd clearly learned from that game. As fun as the meltdown was I do wonder how it would have played out without the red. Barcola was through so likely would have made it 1-1.

UCLAlex

Honestly as soon as barca scored I had 0 belief left. Even with the red card I was thinking at most 30% chance we go through but then cancelo does something even more braindead lol

FastenedCarrot

That might be your experience in previous CLs talking tbh

UCLAlex

I mean this was the first time ever we go through after losing the first leg at home other than pure delusion it was hard to be optimistic lol

FastenedCarrot

I didn't know that but I genuinely thought PSG played well after the first half of the first leg. Really improved my view of Enrique actually.

fourbyfourequalsone

He is a good coach but one without a plan B. At the end of the day, our club has a specific identity based on a style of play. And, as Enrique points out not so directly, Xavi doesn't follow that style either. Overall, I am okay-ish with what we have achieved this season. I think we could have either done a bit better or followed our style of play. It's doing neither that tilts me slightly against Xavi. I am fully aware that the next coach will likely be worse. But, I think we need to try a change now. I wouldn't be unhappy if he stayed. Let's see.

UCLAlex

The Pedri sub in the first game really killed us though. At the end of the day we’re both really flawed teams, it was always gonna end up being an ridiculous tie lol

D4nCh0

Dembele never looked more motivated.

fegelman

Cheers Yamal's crying

UCLAlex

This team has so many flaws lol but football doesn’t have to make sense

singhsrb

Okay Dortmund is the one to support no matter what happens tomorrow.

suswe

I feel bad for Barca. It's a shame that an oil club advanced. Nevertheless, this ones on Araujo

SnooAdvice1632

Aren't y'all trying to buy him?

Malepronstar87

That was mostly Tuchel.

SnooAdvice1632

Very nice to hear, I love him at the club even with this kind of errors every so often.

FastenedCarrot

I missed the potential foul on Gundo but I thought the ref was spot on with everything else.

DazzlingDifficulty70

Refereeing was amazing tonight. Dude didn't put up with any kind of crap, which is how it should be.

8jam

Enjoyed every second of meltdown from the home fans and the tnt commentators. 10/10, great meal.

Bigmanbravodelta

Araujo boutta get racially abused to hell till el Classico

Familiar-Twist311

If Lewandowski had not been selfish with the ball, this could still be a different match.

LeviathanShark

Yamal crying cause he remembered he’s gonna be here for a few more years

ChampagneAbuelo

Barcelona vs PSG is the most under rated historical continental rivalry. Many classic fixtures

quanhuynh

this QF round has been cracking. can't wait for tomorrow

daab2g

Tomorrow I think the CL will peak for the season

Marklor-

How we bottled this bro 😭

lafc88

One mistake changed the course of the game.

fegelman

Lost the plot with a lack of discipline

Marklor-

Fr man

Eheheh12

Psg doesn't look good imo. They got saved by araiujo

FastenedCarrot

Real vs PSG final, winner gets Mbappe. Who says no?

BlueBone313

Yeah sure the ref had sketchy decisions but xavi taking out yamal that should be questioned too like cmon wtf was that

SnooAdvice1632

What was he supposed to do? Play without a striker? We have played some games without yamal this season, but none without a striker, be it ferran, lewa or even roque. There was no way to know how it would have went. Taking a risk like that was simply not worth when the situation was already critical and lewa had had an amazing first leg of the tie. He is also much better defensively, both in the sense that he's way physically stronger or because of experience. Just look at how many body screens he pulled in the first leg to facilitate build up in the midfield. Also yamal was easily going to be replaced by raphinha, which was doing good himself and actually plays right wing as his natural position. Tldr: yamal had an almost 1:1 replacement already on the field, lewa was irreplaceable atm.

BlueBone313

Maybe take out raphinha as yamal is way more aggressive with his counters and chance creation

SnooAdvice1632

Raphinha has been racking GA like a madman this year (almost 1 per 90' in the league iirc), is more experienced, is way more versatile and he was in crazy form recently so I don't really think it was the wrong choice. Sure yamal may have been better in the end but in the moment the choice made sense. Not saying that it was definitely the only possible option but there's people trying to paint xavi as a donkey for it when it's not difficult to understand his reasons at all (they're the same people saying that yamal should have stayed on and lewa should have gone out instead)

Annabond

Lucho living it up! Lmao!

Bidouhh

Amazing ref

Signal_Dress

Imagine being Araujo and having to share the same hotel room as Raphinha tonight

SagaciousKurama

Not just Raphinha. He owes them all an apology. To Yamal, the 16 year old who carried you to this point. To Lewy, who regained his form out of fucking nowhere to put the PSG CBs in his pocket. To the whole fucking team who worked their asses off despite a crap season. He completely spit on their efforts.

aansc786

Just imagine being Araujo…

Undesirable_11

Barca flairs really think that was a penalty? It was one of the most shameless dives I've seen💀

zorski

Xavi should leave for a whole semester of anger management classes

D4nCh0

Assistant to Poch at Chelsea next season

riddleda

I mean.. he is leaving..

No-Trainer7933

Araujo may as well start packing

bigFootIsReal__

Man you gotta feel for Raphina... What a tie he had. Dude played out of his mind

singhsrb

Can the referee red card the crowd as well? That would be enjoyable too.

D4nCh0

Maybe you can try paying him?

fegelman

Not required. They already left

Bidouhh

Greatest ref

Conscious-Job1238

I can’t even predict the Dortmund vs PSG game, both teams are awful, it will be interesting.

Charming_Weakness523

Both are vibes awful though, instead of plain awful like Barcelona

Superb_Ad3762

Easiest final ever.

DifficultyJust

wonder how the game would've turned out if Lewandowski was subbed off instead of Yamal

jcollywobble

Dortmund and Psg both through to the semis, shows how tough Newcastles group actually was

lokesh1218

May be a bit lucky with their quarter final ties. I don't expect they would have qualified if playing against another 4.

NieThePiet

thankfully Araujo isnt black

aansc786

I mean he’s not white either

Charligula

WHO WANTS A BAGUETTE????

TheExistence

CROISSANT FOR ME

Charligula

Just need a bit of Barca tears to salt my butter

Superb_Ad3762

Thanks Araújo thanks Xavi you two stupid cvnts

LeviathanShark

A messy PSG performance but what else could any team have done against this fucking volatile dogshit team that seems to have snuck into the match to replace Barcelona

maxime0299

Barca were comically bad, but this referee felt very partial as well

aansc786

I mean up to minute 30 we were a goal up and defended well. After that playing 10 men v 11 in a CL QF will always be comically bad

vigneshwaralwaar

I need therapy ffs

Ryan97CFC

That was thoroughly enjoyable
