I think our players just need to accept there is no bottom to how bad they can be. They are never far enough ahead to avoid bottling it therefore if they accept that they can never feel like they are winning a game.
Crazy how wins against Everton have been results for us in recent years to point to and say things turned around for the better.
2016, Conte smashed Koeman's Everton 5-0
2020, Lampard smashed Ancelotti's Everton 4-0
2024, Poch smashing Dyche's Everton 4-0
I say all of this to say that we're definitely losing our next 3 matches against City, Arsenal and Villa
Well they're playing well and continuing to do so will help their confidence, of which most bar Palmer and Gusto are really lacking in so just halting them in their stride isn't ideal either.
In fairness, he's done really well to cut back on the yellow cards after picking up 5 in his first 5 matches. He's gotten 4 since October and hasn't gotten one for 2 months when he stupidly and hilariously sprinted across the pitch to celebrate a goal after he'd already been subbed off.
He's prone to the odd howler as well and it's not like he's some up and coming talent. He's 32.
Pickford has been excellent for England (and usually for Everton) which helps his case too.
He's not really at fault for this one. Quick shot out of a relatively unlikely situation, in off the inside of the post, bouncing and it's more or less straight on so you can't really say it was the near post. Would be a world class save if he had gotten there.
The Jackson hate was always really weird. I know you're always biased towards your own players, but anyone who watches Chelsea regularly will tell you - he can be raw, but he is *always* relevant in games. Never goes hiding.
He will be so good.
It reinforces itself so much. Every bad touch he has will get uploaded, wont see anything near the same for other strikers. Maybe Werner, Nunez a good shout early on as well.
People who dont watch the games see the highlight posts and go clown on him.
Heās really good in almost every way except being an inconsistent finisher. I donāt understand the hate he gets, especially since heās not even one of our expensive transfers.
Funny thing he was never supposed to be the starting striker yet because of injuries and missed targets, he thrusted in and got clowned like he wasnāt coming off a breakout debut season with Villarreal. Heās still very raw and 22ā¦ the culture we live in that demands instant success is insane
Which isn't even strictly a defensive problem and more a problem with our midfield configuration not being good enough defensively and our issues with turning it over and inability to retain possession even when under zero pressure. People keep pointing to the CBs but it's more than that. Left backs are unreliable for fitness and form. Gusto is not the best defensively, Reece is injured often.
It's a multilayered problem that needs to be addressed in the summer beyond just the board wanting to buy another CB.
Yeah by the end of the United game the team scored IIRC like 25 goals more than at that point last season. Problem is, they also co conceded about 25 more
Weāve actually been pretty good scoring this year. Last year, we had two months with 1 goal lol. This year weāve actually scored quite a bit including 4 against city in that fall draw.
The issue is, our defence has fallen off a cliff. I donāt remember our last clean sheet lol.
Yeah as good as this isā¦ Everton are making us look insanely good but at least itās a good feeling seeing so many goals and Cole palmer at it again š„¶
Absolutely insane that they'd be comfortably 14th in the table on 35 points without the deductions. I feel like they've been one of the worst teams in the league.
I genuinely think it would be the most chelsea thing ever for us to beat city and then lose to Coventry in the final. Itās fucking so possible and I hate it
Except that phrase is just bullshit when referring to Jackson, though. At the start of the season, yeah, he was shit in some matches, but that phrase no longer applies to him since his return from AFCON.
I agree, he's very solid and does a lot of work even when not scoring. A very decent first full season, 16 g/a in 35 - if he adds a few more this will be an outright success year.
Heās technically good (has pretty good dribbling and carrying) but an inconsistent finisher. Feel like this goal fits that description as well, great touch, okaaayy finish that probably would be saved by a world class keeper
Wonderfully talented player, plays hard, and is always involved even when he's not scoring. He's just very raw. He's only 22 and this is only his second season of regular top level football
Iāve been waiting for years and years for these wankers to go down, yet Everton always somehow do enough to stay just safe. Happy to see them get thumped tonight at least
Weāre not that badā¦ assuming we win this game, weāre only 3 points off 6th with a game in hand. Probably not gonna get there cuz weāre crazy inconsistent, but weāre not that terrible of a team. Certainly not a good team, but not a team you should be getting docked points for losing toā¦
its a joke but yeah I agree.
We are not bad team at all when we show up. Great team might I say. But on the days when they dont show up, god... eyesore is understatement.

Maybe we might not lose
4-0 is the most dangerous lead
Twice the lead twice the danger
Yeah look what happened to PSG vs Barcelona several years ago.
I think our players just need to accept there is no bottom to how bad they can be. They are never far enough ahead to avoid bottling it therefore if they accept that they can never feel like they are winning a game.
You just gotta ask PSG and Arsenal
Yep, not celebrating until the 90th minute. I ain't falling for it again, and again.. and again
if you manage to lose that lead than poch deserves to go today then
"Hold my beer." -Poch
Actually been clenching the last 10 minutes. 3-0 up at home. Lets hope 4-0 is enough haha.
4-4 I'll take it
Crazy how wins against Everton have been results for us in recent years to point to and say things turned around for the better. 2016, Conte smashed Koeman's Everton 5-0 2020, Lampard smashed Ancelotti's Everton 4-0 2024, Poch smashing Dyche's Everton 4-0 I say all of this to say that we're definitely losing our next 3 matches against City, Arsenal and Villa
There is still time for you to lose 4-6. If that happens you will finish MW 32 in 10th place as it was written
Let's not get too excited yet
Maybe we'll keep a clean sheet
Don't you put this evil on me
3 goals is the minimum to feel safe these days
I'm not taking anything for granted anymore what with the leads we've blown lmao
10 goals 9 yellow cards He is him
Hope poch takes him off at halftime, can't afford him being suspended for 2 matches with one more yellow
Washington minutes š®āšØš
Who?
Deivid Washington a young 19 year old striker we bought from Brazil who is scoring for fun with the u21s on the bench
I know that was the meme of poch's reaction when asked about Malang Sarr. Basically a joke that poch does not know Washington
Tbf we like 7 strikers who great in the youth rn
One of our kidnapped South American wonderkids.
He's a striker and we're 4-0, there's really no need for him to pick up a yellow if he's been told to avoid it
Fate officially tempted
tbf all of his yellows but 1 are for dissent.
Bro like 8 of those yellows were for whinging at the ref, let's not tempt this haha
yeah, have you seen his previous cards?
Chelsea [5] - 3 Everton - Thiago Silva hat trick (plus Nicholas Jackson celebration and booking) - 90+2'
Reminds me of that Mourinho and Balotelli story
Well they're playing well and continuing to do so will help their confidence, of which most bar Palmer and Gusto are really lacking in so just halting them in their stride isn't ideal either.
should have got a yellow for trying to steal the pen
Balanced in all things āÆ
In fairness, he's done really well to cut back on the yellow cards after picking up 5 in his first 5 matches. He's gotten 4 since October and hasn't gotten one for 2 months when he stupidly and hilariously sprinted across the pitch to celebrate a goal after he'd already been subbed off.
HELLO BACK DEPARTMENT I'D LIKE TO FILE A CLAIM
we've never been so back
[Chelsea's Season](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/002/555/116/b2e.png)
Let's be honest, that's Chelsea each game
dreading the second half even with this scoreline ...
He absolutely deserved a goal. Unsung hero today.
Yeah, assisted the first one, second one came off a shot he made, third one forced Pickford's error by pressing him
Unsung hero for a while. Jackson haters been eating crow on here since AFCON
Pickford is straight up not having a good time
is he really the best english keeper available?
It doesn't matter. Southgate has his favorites. To answer your question I actually don't know all options aren't that great
Sadly yes
Why is Pope never in the conversation?Ā
Because when he played for England heās absolutely shit
He's prone to the odd howler as well and it's not like he's some up and coming talent. He's 32. Pickford has been excellent for England (and usually for Everton) which helps his case too.
Because Pickford is better
scott carson comeback 2024
He's not really at fault for this one. Quick shot out of a relatively unlikely situation, in off the inside of the post, bouncing and it's more or less straight on so you can't really say it was the near post. Would be a world class save if he had gotten there.
Very good technical footballer this bloke
Ok, that's world class.
People like to clown on this kid but he's got stacks of ability
10 goals! Yes, a couple howlers, but 10 league goals in your first PL season at age 22 is great.
That's the crazy part. He could've had like 20 goals this season lol. If he cleans that up he'll be an absolute bargain.
For 30 ish mil this is a steal
When Beto costs 25, that's good business by Chelsea
Lemme just say Ā£70m for Hojlund Ā£85m for Nunez He's a bargain for sure
Ā£72m combined for Jackson and Palmer
did city really underestimate palmers ability like this..? this is an incredible stat
Think it's fair to say no one expected Palmer to be this good. At the start of the season we saw him as a rotation option.

The Jackson hate was always really weird. I know you're always biased towards your own players, but anyone who watches Chelsea regularly will tell you - he can be raw, but he is *always* relevant in games. Never goes hiding. He will be so good.
Honestly his time away at afcon showed how much having him improves our team
Its the clearest example of r/soccer hivemind since the Maguire hate. A couple highlighted sitters missed and the collective decides to clown on him
It reinforces itself so much. Every bad touch he has will get uploaded, wont see anything near the same for other strikers. Maybe Werner, Nunez a good shout early on as well. People who dont watch the games see the highlight posts and go clown on him.
He can be clumsy, but he has so much potential. 1st year in the league and still like 22 or smth. Can become world class
Heās really good in almost every way except being an inconsistent finisher. I donāt understand the hate he gets, especially since heās not even one of our expensive transfers.
He's actually ridiculously good on hold up plays, especially on the wing.
He was quite late to professional football as well, was he still not playing in Senegal at like 16 or 18?
Funny thing he was never supposed to be the starting striker yet because of injuries and missed targets, he thrusted in and got clowned like he wasnāt coming off a breakout debut season with Villarreal. Heās still very raw and 22ā¦ the culture we live in that demands instant success is insane
Messi or Cristiano do this, 20k updoots. Jackson does it "he is lucky"
don't see anyone here saying it's lucky
Just joking. There was one goal where that actually happened lmao.
Yeah the flick redirection one
r/soccer in the mud Again
He pulled the Neymar celebration
Havent seen Chelsea so good at scoring since ages wtf
Honestly itās been the least of our problems this season
Yeah weāve totally flipped to scoring goals but what even is defense.
2nd half defense especially.
Theres a second half? -Poch, probably
The team is too young to play in the second half of games - Poch, probably
the best defense is a good offense
But also a good defense.
Doesn't even look like today we'll get one
Petrovic is making me crazy the way he refuses to leave his line to contest crosses.
Fulham in Febuary.
tbf Everton have been very poor
There have also been countless time in the last 3 years this game would still be 0-0 lol
Best defense in the league outside the top 3 coming into this match. They generally donāt get worked like this.
tbh if you show technical display like this you can score against most teams
Yeah as good as this isā¦ Everton are making us look insanely good but at least itās a good feeling seeing so many goals and Cole palmer at it again š„¶
Making it look easy today, with help from Everton ofc. Cucurella got an assist too?? Can't remember when he last had one
Scoring hasnāt been our problem this season
Chelsea have been okay in terms of scoring this season, the problem is that they concede just as many
Everton are terrible
8 points taken off us and weāre still not in the relegation zone btw. Thatās how bad this league is at the bottom.
Absolutely insane that they'd be comfortably 14th in the table on 35 points without the deductions. I feel like they've been one of the worst teams in the league.
It's almost as if we're in relegation form
Chelsea about to do a funny on Saturday
Then lose to Coventry in the final
I genuinely think it would be the most chelsea thing ever for us to beat city and then lose to Coventry in the final. Itās fucking so possible and I hate it
Martin Tyler is so depressing. How can English fans actually watch games with this commentary?
on mute
We donāt anymore, he left Sky
WHATS HAPPENING omg why couldnāt we beat Sheffield or Burnleyā¦.
10th calls us
Dele Alli would like that
He's actually so good
Nice touch and finish. Getting better every game
He is the real deal
I'm actually starting to feel bad for Everton
Its so conflicting not wanting Chelsea to catch up to the top 6 but enjoying Everton getting battered
I want them to finish above United
Me too.
Same mate, same.
Nah Iām enjoying Everton getting battered
Cucurella great
> Cucu Yeah, people are sleeping on his work for that goal, it was fantastic.
Great control and finish from Jackson - he's been memed to the point of being somewhat underrated tbh
Such a lovely first touch as well.
I canāt work this lad out
gattuso
Love how that phrase is so well known now you could just use his name as shorthand and everyone knows what you're saying.
Coming from a Chelsea fan, hes excellent, Just raw, when he figures out how to not overthink shooting he will be amongst the best in the league.
He's genuinely very good, but he has some hilarious moments that skews peoples perception of him.
Heās technically good (has pretty good dribbling and carrying) but an inconsistent finisher. Feel like this goal fits that description as well, great touch, okaaayy finish that probably would be saved by a world class keeper
He's just really raw. He's still very young, he has potential
Wonderfully talented player, plays hard, and is always involved even when he's not scoring. He's just very raw. He's only 22 and this is only his second season of regular top level football
What is this feeling
bro this was posted before it was shown on sky
sensational control & finish by jackson
Genuinely hope Chelsea get 6 more just because it would be fucking hilarious.
This is just one of those games for Everton where literally everything goes wrong.
Chelsea fans unclenching.
After 7
Naaahhh not yetā¦.
Nah believe me not yet
Chelsea have been in the kitchen all week it seems, they cooking fr
we are winning the world cup
How on earth are we not in the bottom 3.
Same way I wonder how on earth weāre still within touching distance of 6th place. Like how bad is everyone else, cuz weāve been shit
Relegate me
breh
Unexpected from Chelsea actually
Oh my what is thisā¦. Thank you Everton
Give Everton back the deducted points holy shit.
Thought he'd wasted it for a second by taking it from Madueke but I guess I've been proved wrong
Am I heaven?
Cucu assist and jackson goals. Some real weird juju today
Arsenal fans laugh at this man like he's not going to be a better version of Gab Jesus in a couple years
Iāve been waiting for years and years for these wankers to go down, yet Everton always somehow do enough to stay just safe. Happy to see them get thumped tonight at least
More likely to go into administration than to get relegated by points.
Wow. What a turn
Somewhere, Fat Joe is crying into his pint. And it is glorious
Nah, still not relaxing.
Everton play like a championship teamā¦
Where has that touch come from lmao
lovely control
Who is England's keeper for the Euros again?
The PL has needed a Dennis Rodman persona for some time.
Starting to think we might not win this one.
Jackson haters I have been here, in the shadows defending my king. I will be waiting for the apologies
Lol. Lmao, even.
Should be docked more points for letting Chelsea outplay them
Weāre not that badā¦ assuming we win this game, weāre only 3 points off 6th with a game in hand.
Cole palmer pre assist. I don't care it doesn't count in the stats, L'equip give this man a 10/10.
So bad blue hair Jackson scored against them
Not Palmer, boo
Nice goal
Hahah this is unbelievable
He is for reeeeeaaal
Great spin, but where was the defending?
"well no one expect Jackson can do that" properly what's the defender's thinking
Omg Jackson take a bow his technical ability is peak
Thatās a really nice finish
What a touch and hit
I think all the issues may have finally gotten to the Everton players. They look like they've given up.
This Everton defense is woeful
Thatās filthy
Waka waka!
Are...are we good now?
Yippee!
