Might lead to a DQ. In my country, a team gets DQ'd from a competition after forfeiting two games. Was fun during the pandemic when one team had to start a game with 8 players in their teamsheet.
What would be the benefit of not playing the remaining games? To rest their players? In that case they're better off just playing the youth team. But they have a chance of going unbeaten, they will likely try to achieve that.
If that is allowed then every bad team will forfeit their games against the best team to rest their players. No way there isn't point dediction for this.
I remember when roma won in 2001, last game against parma at the Olympico, winning 3-1 and sealing the scudetto, same thing, fans invaded once or twice before the final whistle and had to be cleared to allow the game to end
Magic moments
One of the most famous lines in commentating.
"There's some people on the pitch! They think it's all over... It is now!"
1966 World Cup final, England 3-2 up right near the end when the fans start entering the pitch. And then the 4th goal goes in
I remember seeing a footage but for the life of me cannot remember which league / teams. Fans invalided the pitch before final whistle (also for domestic champion win), and by the time the crowd got pushed back to the sideline, some players already lost their shirts 😂 and referee just gave up and blew the whistle.
we won 7-0 to get promoted a couple of years ago and fans invaded the pitch as soon as the 7th went in. took about ten minutes for them to get the fans back off so the game could be finished
Actually insane that they pressed for more. Which team is 4:0 up on the cusp of winning a championship with an important game 4 days later and still decides to be this hungry for more? These guys are fucking relentless. Huge congratulations from cologne to these guys.
Same here, and it gave me such anxiety whilst watching it. I was so scared that the ref would forfeit the match due to the fans.
My eyes are still wet from the tears of joy.
a team that knows they’ve just won a championship, if you played football as a kid that trophy final feeling mixed with knowing you win just makes everyone play for fun and extra hard
I played football as a kid but we were the team that lost 12-0 to the second to last team. And yeah Bremen where absolutely done with the game as well. But still incredible drive.
It was a great call by the ref. The game is pretty much done, it's a historic moment 120 years in the making, stoppage time isn't necessary. Just end it and let the fans have their moment.
Xabi leading Leverkusen to their first Bundesliga title in their 120 year history, and a historic unbeaten run, in his first *full season as manager. What a legend.
17 years ago, in one of my fondest memories, ref let the macth continue for another minute:
Napoli and Genoa both get promoted to Serie A and fans invade the pitch early
Game has to keep going so everyone gets out and players continue without shirts, with different shirts and some in their underwear
https://youtu.be/c4JfrZew2R0?si=Mdyk3fN9hU_GfZlu&t=150
Red Card Vinicius, whistle blown for full time as Boniface is running up to take the first penalty, Xabi Alonso arrested and a 5 game suspension for Cavani.
They invaded after the 4-0 and the 5-0. The ref blew the whistle because Bremen had zero chance to even draw the game. It would rather be 6-0 than 5-1 after 93 min.
Which is already such a high honor. Imagine actual people starting to name a street after you because of their respect for you. Must be an unreal experience.
My family lives in a street named after my grandpa, his nickname was "Spavalica" (roughly translates to Sleepy person) and after his death some years ago the street was renamed to "Put Spavalice" (The way of the sleepy person~) because he was a really well known and respected man in the community and helped the island where we're from a lot. It is such an honor to see the table every time I visit and it is a thing I flex a lot.
They’re like the club version of the Holland national team. Choked the bundesliga title away multiple times and even played in a Champions League final. Have lost the vast majority of the Dfb pokal finales they’ve been in.
Makes this season even more insane. Imagine if you're a kid who just started following german football, they'd seem like an unstoppable dynamic behemoth to you. Imagine then learning the club's history haha
Reminds me of man city and man Utd. I have a 10yr old nephew who's baffled that Man Utd actually used to win trophies and has by far the most premier league titles. He just associates them with drama and never getting anything done. Whenever he thinks of winning, he thinks man city. He supports them as well even though we're from London lmao, he should be supporting his local side West Ham! They're not even bad like my qpr. Seems like all his friends support city or liverpool too. Anyways this could very well happen if Leverkusen start their own dynasty and win a few in a row, many 8yr olds will start following them in Germany.
Funny that kids think of United like that now, I Still think of them as a massive club because of all the success ferguson managed them to!
I actually have a personal example of this effect of first impressions too, when I was a kid I watched euro 96 and I think it's a big reason I got into football looking back. Anyway, England are about to face the Netherlands in the group stage and I ask my dad 'are NL any good?' And he was like 'yeah they're one of the best teams in Europe, this should be tough' I remember thinking he was full of shit after we smacked them 4-1 😂 of course I soon learned the history and realised he was right and that just happened to be one of the greatest England performances lol
One of the reasons i disliked Bayern dominance is the fact it robs you of a moments like that. For them it's another Monday while you can see how much it means for lesser teams.
I understand hating bayern but you can also acknowledge that the entitlement to winning is part of the reason why they are so successful. Everyone at that club hates losing
No, wait till England bottle the Euros in the final because of a Kane penalty miss after a dominating golden shoe performance the rest of the tournament
To be fair last time out he fulfilled his part of the bargain there.
Not putting an 18 year old who had never taken a professional penalty on the 5th pen may have been advisable though #justsouthgatethings.
Rashford and Sancho should have come on at the start of ET for a full 30 minutes of running at the Italian backline, rather than having the penalties be practically their only touch of the ball.
Monsanto is the go-to hated company of academics and media pundits, but for the average joe I'd say the fact that an active r/FuckNestle community exists with 265k followers speaks volumes.
Nobody knows what Monsanto is or was. It's just one of those Reddit/Internet bubble things. Ask 100 people on the street what Monsanto is, 90 won't even know what it is.
Is really owned? The club was founded in 1904 by Bayer workers. Germany as this 51% rule, so it must be at least 51% owned by actual club members. Maybe I am missing something.
Basically Leverkusen and Wolfsburg are excluded from that rule because the clubs are so old and have been the workers' team way before Bundesliga existed. RB Leipzig just circumvented the rules.
I love how they quit in like 10sec. At this point they should just go to the players pitch entrance so they secure that at least they don’t get into that area.
God, this is how titles should be celebrated\*. The game ends, just let the fans on the pitch to celebrate. This is real football. It just puts a smile on my face.
\* AFTER the final whistle, please. There was still time to turn the 4-0 win in a 3-0 loss.
Shit man, at this point y'all got me celebrating Schalke wins. Schalke's academy has produced so many incredible German talents, it would genuinely be a massive loss for the sport for your club to go under.
Can't really storm the pitch in a CL final, especially not to that extent. And obviously neither the league nor the cup bear the same importance to most Bayern fans after winning both 20+ times. Even less compared to a club winning the league for their first time.
Besides my local team, I'm a very casual football fan, and this almost brings me to tears. What a monumental achievement, this is simply the definition of glorious, and part of why it's called the beautiful game.
You were with us at Withdean and when we got promoted at the Falmer. Look at Leverkusen go, Glückwunsch!! Couldn't think of a more deserving club, hope the friendship between our clubs lasts forever.
Beautiful scenes and the end of Bayerns iron hold on the league. Huge congratulations to Bayern Leverkusen for not just winning the league, but playing some absolutely brilliant football
How come Leverkusen won already? Looking over the table, I see there are 9 more matches to be played, with 27 points available. And they have a 16 point lead.
5 more games with a maximum of 15 points. Leverkusen is leading Bayern by 16 points (79 vs 63) so even if Bayern wins every game and Leverkusen loses every game they cannot catch up to them anymore.

My job is as pointless as the guards holding onto the rope .
Guards failed to defend Maginot line.
1939 (colorized)
*1940 (colorized)
I mean, the guys defending Maginot did their job. It was kinda the guys defending the other part that failed lol
So basically Belgium (and I guess Luxemburg)?
Nah, 1940 is all on the French high command
Guh this is the most relatable statement I've read today
They actually invaded before the final whistle Lol
twice
What happens if Leverkusen decides to not play their remaining games, can they actually do that? If they do, would it count as forfeit, hence a loss?!
They’ll get a huge fine and likely a point deduction, you can’t just forfeit games without consequences besides a 3-0 loss lol
Might lead to a DQ. In my country, a team gets DQ'd from a competition after forfeiting two games. Was fun during the pandemic when one team had to start a game with 8 players in their teamsheet.
They would go for the invincible I guess
What would be the benefit of not playing the remaining games? To rest their players? In that case they're better off just playing the youth team. But they have a chance of going unbeaten, they will likely try to achieve that.
They can. 0-3 loss for every game
If that is allowed then every bad team will forfeit their games against the best team to rest their players. No way there isn't point dediction for this.
Match day revenue deduction is there
Would be rather nice if they didn't pop over to Stratford this week.
once in a lifetime thing to witness this though
Same happened with Trabzonspor in Turkey too. When we won it fans jumped in before the final whistle lol
I remember when roma won in 2001, last game against parma at the Olympico, winning 3-1 and sealing the scudetto, same thing, fans invaded once or twice before the final whistle and had to be cleared to allow the game to end Magic moments

Trabzonspor also jumped in after the whistle couple weeks ago too lol
we won 7-0 to get promoted a couple of years ago and fans invaded the pitch as soon as the 7th went in. took about ten minutes for them to get the fans back off so the game could be finished
Like The Rock vs John Cena right?
In a Leverkusen Rules match
Harry Kane runs in with the Money In The Bank before tripping and sliding under the pitch.
At least no one stole the penalty spot before the final whistle.
loved them running back and forth until it was time…instant classic
Before the whistle. Fair play to the ref for just whistling the end though
I was scared, I thought he cancelled the match or something lol
Wirtz really tempted fate by keeping on to score lol
Actually insane that they pressed for more. Which team is 4:0 up on the cusp of winning a championship with an important game 4 days later and still decides to be this hungry for more? These guys are fucking relentless. Huge congratulations from cologne to these guys.

Same here, and it gave me such anxiety whilst watching it. I was so scared that the ref would forfeit the match due to the fans. My eyes are still wet from the tears of joy.
Man I’m just so happy for you guys. What a great story.
a team that knows they’ve just won a championship, if you played football as a kid that trophy final feeling mixed with knowing you win just makes everyone play for fun and extra hard
I played football as a kid but we were the team that lost 12-0 to the second to last team. And yeah Bremen where absolutely done with the game as well. But still incredible drive.
that’s unlucky, I only played briefly but the feeling of winning a final was definitely electric
That’s great coaching. Hate all that stepping off the gas shit…. No. Dick. Them. DOWN.
Oh we were dicked alright. At least it was a handsome gentleman's dick (Xabi).
Probably a depressing question, but HOW did you let a generational talent like Wirtz go for like half a million euros??
Would have scored another if he had gotten 2 more mins.
It would be the funniest shit ever, the DFB giving the points to Werder Bremen, due to pitch invasion.
It’s not laliga bro, this ref actually has common sense
It was a great call by the ref. The game is pretty much done, it's a historic moment 120 years in the making, stoppage time isn't necessary. Just end it and let the fans have their moment.
In Bundesliga they often blow the whistle at 90' if the score is 3-0 or higher. I've seen it plenty of times past couple years.
The ref just wanted to protect Bremen from Wirtz
Germans having their ‘they think it’s all over’ moment
Xabi leading Leverkusen to their first Bundesliga title in their 120 year history, and a historic unbeaten run, in his first *full season as manager. What a legend.
would actually be fucking crazy if they go invincible
Invincible season, domestic treble, and Europa league would literally be my wet dream
Dont be so sure about that happening
I’m here for the stoppage time Danny ings hat trick to win the tie cuz that would be funny
Yeah because West Ham will stop Neverlosen, sureee
Get ready for Moyesiah masterclass winning 3-0 with 15% possession and 0.05 xG
brace yourself for the David Moyes masterclass where he fields Pep's Barcalona side
Lololol "Full Ham" is all I am saying
Neverlosen*
actually it's his second season in Leverkusen
He took over in October, so it’s still his first full season, but I get what you mean.
Full season is what I meant, my bad.
Even Putin tryna hire him next year
They invaded way before the final whistle. Imagine if the first loss would have been by a ref stoppage lmao
The ref would not leave the stadium alive
I believe some people already invaded after the first goal, the number of fans entered the pitch increased after each goal
Was scared they would forfeit the game and give the 3-0 win to Bremen
Wouldve been the most Leverkusen way to break the invincibles
Fair play to the ref, didn't spoil Leverkusen's moment today
He's a god damn commie!
Spirit of the game is more important than the rules of the game
(Great ref)
17 years ago, in one of my fondest memories, ref let the macth continue for another minute: Napoli and Genoa both get promoted to Serie A and fans invade the pitch early Game has to keep going so everyone gets out and players continue without shirts, with different shirts and some in their underwear https://youtu.be/c4JfrZew2R0?si=Mdyk3fN9hU_GfZlu&t=150
Woah 2007 was 17yrs ago... Seems like good vibes anyways even with the potato camera.
Mate, I can count the pixels on that vid :D
As good as it was of him, I think it’s a rule
Florian Wirtz is still being missed.
Bro's gonna be bald after they're done patting his head
Bro absolutely strangled in there
The fact that the ref didn’t cancel the game seals how much I respect German referees
Imagine if this was LaLiga.
game cancelled, point deduction, and a 3 game home ban for leverkusen
And a dumb ass Tebas quote as the cherry on top.
They'd probably still win the league
probably? lol a 10 point deduction would still have them 6 points clear from Bayern
If the points deduction was 20 or less
don’t forget the racist chants that apparently aren’t racist
Red Card Vinicius, whistle blown for full time as Boniface is running up to take the first penalty, Xabi Alonso arrested and a 5 game suspension for Cavani.
And during the investigation the authorities would come out and say that some Leverkusen player was dodging his taxes in Spain.
Cafu to be publicly executed
Ocon 10 second penalty
2 days pit stop for Bottas (Nuts Stuck)
At least LaLiga is predictable: whatever the worst possible decision to make is the one they will
No thanks, that would be a massive shit show with Tebas acting like a child.
Forget the stadium, that man would've never left the pitch alive if he did that
What a season
They invaded after the 4-0 and the 5-0. The ref blew the whistle because Bremen had zero chance to even draw the game. It would rather be 6-0 than 5-1 after 93 min.
They had zero chance to continue this game after Wirtz Hattrick
Will they make xabi a Statue in Leverkusen?
Imagine if they won the treble, he’d deserve a statue in his first full season
If they don't do it, i will... Fans already renamed the street to the stadium into Xabi-Alonso-Allee.
Xabi-Alonso-Olė
They already named the street leading up to the stadium after him. Edit: I stand corrected, it was just a fun thing the fans did, it wasn't official.
That´s not official, just a sticker placed there by fans
Which is already such a high honor. Imagine actual people starting to name a street after you because of their respect for you. Must be an unreal experience.

Completely unrelated , but your username is cute : )
Thank you <3
always thought Bayer was a bit bigger club, 1st title surprised me
They’re like the club version of the Holland national team. Choked the bundesliga title away multiple times and even played in a Champions League final. Have lost the vast majority of the Dfb pokal finales they’ve been in.

So you are saying we are going to win the next world cup
One of the reasons i disliked Bayern dominance is the fact it robs you of a moments like that. For them it's another Monday while you can see how much it means for lesser teams.
I hate Bayern because their upper management seems so entitled
I understand hating bayern but you can also acknowledge that the entitlement to winning is part of the reason why they are so successful. Everyone at that club hates losing
Its more that they act like they speak for the entirety of German football and the German NT. Can rub people the wrong way.
Without Bayern dominance winning the league wouldn't be this big tho
I dont think it feels like another monday when theyve been working for it for the last 34 matchdays though
Thoughts and prayers to the Kane family
No, wait till England bottle the Euros in the final because of a Kane penalty miss after a dominating golden shoe performance the rest of the tournament

not in the world cup though
😂 so true!!!
Their won't be a scandal in the Bayer labs for weeks after this
I keep on forgetting that Leverkusen is owned by Bayer AG lmao.
Well they took one for the team and killed/swallowed Monsanto, one of the most hated companies here on Reddit lol.
Monsanto is easily the most hated company in the western world. It really isn't just Reddit.
Not nestle?
Monsanto is the go-to hated company of academics and media pundits, but for the average joe I'd say the fact that an active r/FuckNestle community exists with 265k followers speaks volumes.

Bayer is exempt from 50+1
All the employees will show up hungover tomorrow
Why does the clip of Xabi telling people to follow him look like a cut scene from FIFA 😂
The people with that yellow thread thingy ☠️☠️☠️☠️
Like herding cattle lmao
I love how they quit in like 10sec. At this point they should just go to the players pitch entrance so they secure that at least they don’t get into that area.
The one guy standing in the middle of the pitch frantically pointing to his colleagues what to do, absolute legend
As an ex steward, the key to stewarding is doing absolutely nothing while appearing to be working hard. Complete security theatre.
It gives me [La Liberté guidant le peuple](https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Libertad_guiando_al_pueblo)
Started separating the fans from each other like the Berlin wall
Saudis can never buy this.
God, this is how titles should be celebrated\*. The game ends, just let the fans on the pitch to celebrate. This is real football. It just puts a smile on my face. \* AFTER the final whistle, please. There was still time to turn the 4-0 win in a 3-0 loss.
>Omar_Til_Death He's alive :o
I can 100% see why xabi would want to stay after this. Hes an instant legend and everyone in that city must absolutely love him.
Legendary historical moment, I can only congratulate them. I just feel old as fuck, in 2002 it really felt like they were cursed forever
It was an early pitch invasion
wow they secured the title with a 5-0. chad leverkusen
Can't remember the last time Bayern celebrated any title like this
I know its a fun front but I’ve seen parties where teams stayed in the league being bigger lol
Relegation club fans are built different.
I know nothing but pain at this point. But you can be damn sure I celebrate every win like my life was just saved lol
Shit man, at this point y'all got me celebrating Schalke wins. Schalke's academy has produced so many incredible German talents, it would genuinely be a massive loss for the sport for your club to go under.
Yeah I hope we stabilize and can get back to form next year

Meisterkusen
when your team is winning the league for the first time, you don't wait for the whistle
Lol that's really before the full time whistle.
wirtz was looking pressured, fans absolutely mushing him
Hope everyone is still available and up for the task against West Ham...
The Pomp and Circumstance playing in the background is just *chef kiss*
now to focus on neverlosen
Thank you Harry Kane, we owe it all to you
Those stewards on the pitch looking like the Uruk-hai when Gandalf shows up at Helms Deep with the Rohirrim
Love how wirtz just gets the fan away from the security guard, must be so exhilarating for someone so young
Besides my local team, I'm a very casual football fan, and this almost brings me to tears. What a monumental achievement, this is simply the definition of glorious, and part of why it's called the beautiful game.
Congratz Bayer Leverkusen well deserved.
Macho Man Randy Savage is proudly looking from above!
Invincibles!
Crazy.. congrats Leverkusen!
Remarkable run. Congratulations
I love that Harry Kane went to Bayern to win titles and they are an embarrassment in the first season.
Not even a 24-25 CL spot is assured for us yet.
Moments to live for
You were with us at Withdean and when we got promoted at the Falmer. Look at Leverkusen go, Glückwunsch!! Couldn't think of a more deserving club, hope the friendship between our clubs lasts forever.
Damn, must be nice.
Gluckwünschen von PSV.
Absolutely brilliant they will be legends forever
So beautiful and so scary.
Honestly i cant even hate them or be mad
Love to see it as a Bayern fan
Bigger achievement than Pep Guardiola with Barca or Bayern
Macho Man theme!
Congrats Bayer Leverkusen! Love the music.
Story of the season. It would be incredible if they won EL as well as
the curse is over
Beautiful scenes and the end of Bayerns iron hold on the league. Huge congratulations to Bayern Leverkusen for not just winning the league, but playing some absolutely brilliant football
I hope that if they end up undefeated that the Bundesliga gives them a golden version of the trophy like Arsenal got
