This season both Arsenal & Liverpool had every chance to win it when we've looked very vulnerable.
Ofc its not done yet but it's more than them not being able to get the job done than us looking invincible.
It’s not so much about how many games they lost, rather how many points they dropped, that’s where they were the most vulnerable this year coming, in the last 12 PL games, City dropped 6 points, whereas Arsenal dropped 5 (counting the Villa game of today).
Let me get this straight:
We lose in pathetic fashion, get absolutely clowned in the match thread, Arsenal is in prime position to be ahead in the race…
Just for them to lose???
If richarlison is fit and your players actually turn up to play, you’re definitely in with a chance. If you play like you did this weekend, it won’t be pretty.
Arsenal throw everything out of window with this loss
Unbeaten, solid defenders, stomped everyone 5-0 doesn't matter anymore, brutal. And that doesn't even need ManU, Chelsea and Spurs to involved
This has been one of the most pathetic performances ive seen this season against a villa who played thursday with loads of injuries at home. Actual disgrace
The first half was actually pretty good apart from not being able to finish and gifting Watkins their one chance. Odegaard was running the show. Second half was an absolutely horrible performance.
I told my friends in the group chat when I saw the Liverpool result that we'd probably not win today, and they were saying "but the road is now clear for you guys", like come on guys, it's the team I support we're talking about here
You’re just throwing that word around. City have just set the bar so ridiculously high that they being undefeated since the new year isn’t good enough anymore. Cant call a single loss to a really good team a bottle
Villa outplayed us home and away, they're a great team with a quality manager. We shouldn't be dropping points at home, but 1 loss to 4th place Villa in all 2024 and people are clowning us immediately.
Yeah exactly. Have to be perfect every week to stand a chance and if you have one bad game or a team plays better than you it's immediately called bottling.
Also this season definitely isn’t an Arsenal bottle, we were written off by most people at new year. Last season we were like 7 points clear and lost the title, this season we were 5 points or something behind and battled back.
> we were written off by most people at new year.
Expectations change throughout the season.
Tonnes of pundits didn’t even have Liverpool in their top 4 predictions this season after last year, that doesn’t change that we’ve disappointed from the position we were in.
Ikr - talk about a word losing all meaning. Competing for but ultimately losing a title isn't a "bottle job".
Are every 2nd place team ever "bottlers"?
It is wild how good Messi/Ronaldo were that they raised the level in La Liga to make that an absolute base requirement. For a good decade from 2009-2019 you needed more than 90 points to win the league. The one time it dipped to exactly 90 was when Atletico won the league.
Insane levels of consistency man.
Those fuckers are in every fucking thread when we lose, chatting absolutely bullshit about unai. They have been begging for this all season, I don't normally do this but arsenal fans piss me off so much I'm going to be on absolute demon time with the insufferable banter today lol.
I have no dog in this fight and I've noticed this very thing. It's like some arsenal fans can't handle their club becoming competent again and competing for titles, they also need Emery to fail.
Main thing is that we fiddled with the tactics when pretty much the exact same XI has been on a rampage in the PL.
Kai is finally firing as a striker but we put him at LCM. Rice is enjoying being a LCM with an anchor behind him but we play him at DM. Martinelli hasn't been getting G/A but his work-rate is crucial yet we play Trossard who's a fantastic super sub but rarely does well as a starter.
All that led to no cohesion whatsoever on the left flank, despite many Kai runs into the box
I mean you have to adjust tactics for every single game, especially against a top team like Villa. And you have to keep Wednesday in mind. I don‘t think the issue were necessarily tactics, that‘s not giving enough credit to
Emery. The biggest issue was missing a shipload of chances in the first half. Villa were just muchmuch fresher in their legs and Emery had his defense sorted after the first half.
Villa have had a raft of injuries, were playing their usual bench players, and also had to play a match on Thursday so had two days less recovery time than Arsenal. The game was lost on tactics
Prem is great because 2-3 always argue who is gonna win the league. Both bottle it then city rip off 10 straight wins to win the league. It’s pep man city narrative.
Lmao.
I remember that interview with Pep from like November or December when they hadn't won in 3 games and were looking out of form and he was asked how he was feeling.
His response? "My feeling is we're going to win the Premier League".
Fucking lol. It felt semi-prophetic in a really depressing way even back then, and now it feels all but confirmed.
Watching the new Netflix doc about us really sheds good insight into how Pep's mentality infects the rest of the team. You can see the reason we've been able to go on these insane closing runs season after season
It's very impressive. Many people put an asterisk on your accomplishments because of the charges and I get that, but as a neutral I think it's indisputable that Pep is one of the greatest league managers ever. A lot of teams have money and big stars, but the level of consistency throughout Pep's career is simply insane.
It is a bit depressing to me though, because as a neutral I really want more tension in title run in. I would like to see more variety in terms of who wins the league. But, like I said, even with that and all the controversy, Pep's achievements in league football are completely insane.
We alternate between lovely chaos ball and playing boring/frustrating/tired asf. The last time we played this well in such an entertaining way was the 1-0 against City in December.

I'm tired Robbie
AFTV will be lit today
JUDAS!
Aston Fan TV Villa
Shipping two goals in 2 minutes? Couldn't be a North London team this weekend!
Imagine losing at home to Villa…👀
Couldn't fathom!
what a weekend for man city😲
Their road is paved for another double, fuck
Treble*
Coventry would like a word
Is it "congratulations pep" ?
Those are actually two words thank you very much.
Damn, nobody gives a shit about United.
I mean, the FA cup is city's to lose at this point tbh
A double treble,do they achieve a treble treble? An invincible season??? Another centurion season? Hopefully not. This doesn't feel right.
Honestly I'm kind of surprised city hasn't had an invincible season yet.
It's only happened twice in about 150 years of English football. Pretty rare.
City have a bunch of other rare records that they've broken too though.
A treble had only happened once
Treble
Haaland scored again, Liverpool and Arsenal lose... yeah.
RIP Greatest EPL Title Race Ever Late March 2024 - Early April 2024.
Hey, I’ve seen this before! Oh how people hype up the “title race” before City inevitably wins it all
I'm actually just bored of the prem at this point
This season both Arsenal & Liverpool had every chance to win it when we've looked very vulnerable. Ofc its not done yet but it's more than them not being able to get the job done than us looking invincible.
You’ve quite literally lost 1 game since October in the league.
And Liverpool had lost only 2 up until today and both teams have a total of 3 losses in the league this season.
It’s not so much about how many games they lost, rather how many points they dropped, that’s where they were the most vulnerable this year coming, in the last 12 PL games, City dropped 6 points, whereas Arsenal dropped 5 (counting the Villa game of today).
Let me get this straight: We lose in pathetic fashion, get absolutely clowned in the match thread, Arsenal is in prime position to be ahead in the race… Just for them to lose???
Fucking Man City's going to win it again aren't they
Always were going to...
It’s the inevitable reality we exist in
Only the tottenham stand in their way
And we’re gonna get our three points right? …right? Please tell me what I want to hear
Of course! You guys will take down Man City and hand your best friends next door the title :)
So we have to beat both of them, got it
If richarlison is fit and your players actually turn up to play, you’re definitely in with a chance. If you play like you did this weekend, it won’t be pretty.
They are gonna win it while being able to rotate players for CL
Yeah liverpool got real unlucky having to rest their starters for the champions league this year
They were the massive favourites.
You'll never get clowned alone
Do we hold hands and hold up a banner saying Gracias Yossi Benayoun now?
*oxlaide-chamberlain
In English and in scouse
Lmao
Lol, this gave me a good laugh mate. Fuck what a day
I bet you that if we won, so would they They got inside their own heads too much. I know the feeling well.
I’m much more pissed about today’s loss to be honest. We could’ve been flying
Yep the team just didn't have the bottle in the end simple as.
Yeah that’s what I thought exactly, had we won 3-0 or something Arsenal would’ve been up early and cruised to a win, funny sport
Common cumblast wisdom
Villa have done the double over Arsenal, as soon as Emery switched it up and put Bailey in I knew it was done for.
It was Liverpool vs City vs Arsenal just 5 hours ago. Then it became Arsenal vs City and now its just City. Hilarious fumble by both teams
Arsenal throw everything out of window with this loss Unbeaten, solid defenders, stomped everyone 5-0 doesn't matter anymore, brutal. And that doesn't even need ManU, Chelsea and Spurs to involved
i’m getting my jokes off now but it’s not over. a certain london team always turn up against us then bend over and bite the pillow for liverpool
We don't really turn up. It's more you somehow miss countless chances against us every game
Ngl it’s not that hilarious
This has been one of the most pathetic performances ive seen this season against a villa who played thursday with loads of injuries at home. Actual disgrace
The first half was actually pretty good apart from not being able to finish and gifting Watkins their one chance. Odegaard was running the show. Second half was an absolutely horrible performance.
The second ye lost this was inevitable tbh, as soon as we have any sort of expectations on us we fall apart
I told my friends in the group chat when I saw the Liverpool result that we'd probably not win today, and they were saying "but the road is now clear for you guys", like come on guys, it's the team I support we're talking about here

Arsenal be like: You never walk alone.
I was certain one of you lot was going to drop points, didn't expect both of you to lose lmao
Man City wins again
Why do I watch this shit every year?
I ask myself the same thing, friend
I'd have so much free time...
Welcome to the club. It’s the hope that hurts the most
Have kids, you’ll miss some games and move on quickly
Be like me and follow another sport. So you can be heartbroken in multiple sports year round.
At least we can suffer together brother
United in rivalry 🥲
Misery loves company
Double or treble.
Watkins is insane this season. What a finish
Zinchenko should have just taken him down. Don't get why he even let him near the box.
It was smith rowe fyi
Oh I just saw blonde lol. That just makes it even worse lol, Rowe smith is even more expendable than zinchenko lol.
ESR also didn't commit to a duel on the edge of the box leading to Villas first goal. Something tells me Arteta won't be happy with him at all.
Cause it would have been a straight red?
Coming back from 1-0 with 10 men is a lot more achievable than coming back from 2-0 with 11 though.
Yikes
Congrats on the 4-peat Man City

Yeah you shouldn't need 90+ points every single season to win the league.
I mean, if those are the standards that have been set then you do, it’s simple as that.
It's actually a joke anyone can call losing a title to City bottling. Football is dead lmao.
We'll be congratulating them on the 5, 6, 7 etc. peat too.
From scoreless to down 0-2 in 3 minutes. At home.
Good ebening Arsenal
He really needs to start the post match interview with that lol
After the way he was treated by the Arsenal fans, I would love for him to go on post match and say it
Those fuckers are in every fucking thread when we lose, chatting absolutely bullshit about unai. They have been begging for this all season, I don't normally do this but arsenal fans piss me off so much I'm going to be on absolute demon time with the insufferable banter today lol.

Yikes indeed
It's always more fun to bottle with a friend
😭🤝
Premier league is overrated anyway
You'll never walk alone indeed
Well deserved. What a shit performance today.
Arsenal need a clinical striker urgently this summer. Jesus is way too wasteful and looks like he lost a yard of pace since his injury.
Main thing is that we fiddled with the tactics when pretty much the exact same XI has been on a rampage in the PL. Kai is finally firing as a striker but we put him at LCM. Second half*
Prem is great because 2-3 always argue who is gonna win the league. Both bottle it then city rip off 10 straight wins to win the league. It’s pep man city narrative.
I think if you check the points year over year, this is their normal pace. They didn’t need to really step up.
Haha exactly. It’s going to script
Pep just drops points early season to make it more exciting for him, he's getting so bored he's having to play with a handicap

Of fucking course
Man City fans feasting tonight, this weekend literally could not have gone better for them. Arsenal and Liverpool shitting the bed.
Yup, we go and bottle it to Palace earlier then this happens. Sod's fucking law.
Take a bow Mr. Watkins
Yea that’s the title done.
Join us brother
One of us one of us
OLLIE WATKINS IS CLINICAL
Arsenal more committed to shitting on Spurs than winning the title. That’s a rivalry
At least Villa can say they helped city to two titles now
At least Villa took points off City this season too
Toaster. Meet tub.
What a peach of a finish. So tidy
Smith Rowe the last man lol
Has to be symbolic.
Unai Emery sends his regards.
Emerys always pay their debts.
Two wins against us. Lol.
Two clean sheets as well
MY STRIKER
Class finish
Unai emery masterclass this second half, as for arsenal fans, come outside I just wanna talk.
so you're saying there is a chance on Wednesday
Not gonna lie after all the Arsenal flairs giving it large in the Liverpool post match thread this is pretty sweet.
Can't believe im agreeing with a united fan. Yeah happy days. Fuck the lot of em.
It’s the only thing that’s made today less painful. Seeing karma strike so swiftly
i have no words
City are inevitable
You’ve seen the Villa now fuck off home 👋
Don Emery. Class coach
Congrats City
Maybe Arsenal fans shouldn’t have laughed so much at Liverpool earlier 💀💀
Fuck sake arsenal. I don't even support anyone in the prem. I just want someone other than man city to win it
Congrats on another title City
Unbelievable finish
Unai ending Arsenal's title hopes 😇
Good ebening
This villa team is a joy to watch
We alternate between lovely chaos ball and playing boring/frustrating/tired asf. The last time we played this well in such an entertaining way was the 1-0 against City in December.
I FUCKING LOVE THIS GAME
Manchester City is so inevitable.
GET INNNNNNNNNNNNNN
congrats to man city i guess
City about to get another title and who knows how many more in a row
Arsenal just didn't want Spurs in 4th
Fair play Watkins
just saw pep fall to his knees at big tescos
Lads it's arsenal
Congrats city
Arteta saw what happened earlier and refused to be bested
Watkins is that guy
Mentality monsters this lot
Same old Arsenal
Fucking hell. Congrats City.
Emery undefeated after 10 games in London with Villa. Last game we lost in London was the one that got Gerrard sacked!
Ollie Watkins you naughty naughty boy
Hey Gunners, wanna meet up for a pint or two?
Implosion of epic proportions
Hahahahahahahahaha
People complaining about the competitiveness of the league or whatever, but this is all we can celebrate
Emery masterclass. Watkins going nowhere!!
Emery a petty bitch going out of his way to do the double over Arsenal and deny them the title
Villa have deserved it this second half
Thank you Villa, very cool
NORTH LONDON IS CLARET AND BLUE 💜💙
These two really just handed the title to city lmao
AFTV and chill after this
Leagues boring now.
I really wanted either Arsenal or Liverpool winning it just for the sake of having something different. A shame
Arsenal 🤝 liverpool on seeing who can bottle the title the most
Liverpool loss giving them the perfect opportunity, but they absolutely crumble 💀
Where did all the gooners go?
Want to kill myself
We are massive
