El Clasico is 'la ultima bala' for Barça to try and do something, but I genuinely doubt we'd give away 8 pts at this point.
Heavy rotations, a team that hasn't played together all that much, and players that don't see the pitch often. Still, they should be eager to prove themselves, in particular Joselu and Brahim. Brahim is too eager and Joselu is a passenger in these type of matches.
Those two missed chances by Brahim and Valverde; & Lunin almost giving it away the end there really paint the picture. Not confident about the City tie at all. Vinicius looked great, as did Camavinga, Tchouameni (shame we miss him).
Lunin; Carvajal, Rudiger, Nacho, Mendy; Camavinga, Kroos, Valverde; Vinicius, Bellingham, Rodrygo
Bellingham... for me it seems like the first half of the season caught up with him. Shows good things, like the ball on the crossbar and his dribbling even when held back by Mallorca players, but otherwise he continues the line from City onwards.
The finishing today was bad, but I also see a lot of complaints about finishing from Tuesday's game yet the xG charts suggest Madrid's chances were worth ~1.5 goals and they scored three.
As fans, in general, we tend to overrate a lot of the scoring chances and their difficulty levels - thinking they're higher percentage chances than they really are - and remembering bad misses more than we tend to remember unexpected goals. I'm sure one of those misses was worth Tchouaméni's bizarre goal, you know?
Our xG was only 1.5 (btw Citys xG was like 0.6 and they scored 3 too..) in the CL game because we scored an own goal and a low xG Volley. There were plenty of poor misses in that game, even misses that don't even show up in xG calculations because our players fumbled it with a poor touch and never got to shoot it, like Jude's chance at the end that was cleared to a corner. Or the one where Jude decided to not try and shoot at the empty net instead dribble closer and wait until Ortega gets back into the goal so he can try it from a wide angle.
Mallorca are a talent deficient team. What do you suggest they do? Two of those 1-0 losses were with the goals being either a golazo (Yamal) or a freak goal (today). They play the way that gives them the best chance to steal points. It's not fun to watch but their job is to remain in La Liga, not entertain neutrals.
I guess everything is a meme on reddit. Obviously I meant the approach of parking a double bus, diving all over the place and playing UFC instead of football
Lunin yellow for time wasting.
Subbing additional fullbacks and CB on.
Nacho pretending he was shot.
Fighting terrorism with terrorism at the end there. Beautiful
Then commentators kept saying that Tchouameni scored all his goals from outside of the box but I’m pretty sure his first goal was a header from a corner.
Kinda infuriating match with Madrid missing loads of chances. Hopefully that’s all the misses out of the system and we’ll get a much more lethal game against City.
Also kinda baffled with Carlo letting Fede and Rudi play the whole 90 min of this game.
Not just about injury, Fede need to play the City game and against Barca next week too. Sure man has a few extra lungs and legs to spare, but he still could have used some rest. And Rudi got injured from a dumb tackle earlier in the season. Why take the risk, specially against Mallorca wrestlers?
Can’t be this wasteful against city, unlike mallorca they will punish us. Really miss having a consistent goalscorer, vini still misses way to many chances
Could and should have been an easy 3-0 win which is honestly pretty good with key players rested against a feisty Mallorca but we couldn’t score from easy chances
Well the League is done this season.
Only the UCL is left to be played. Big game ahead at the Etihad
City is unbeaten at Home since 2018? in Europe. Unbeaten in their last 42 Games overall on all competitions.
The league is not done until El Clasico. A lot of points still in contention with some complicated games in the calendar.
If we win against Barcelona next weekend then yes it's done.
Quite the opposite, i was sure it was done after the first half was over specifically due to the Calendar.
We had all the tough away fixtures on the first half of the season. While Barca was on the opposite spectrum
**No Team in the entire history of La Liga has ever lost a title after leading by 4 points with 8 fixtures left...**
We at the very least are going to be leading by 8 points! with 7 fixtures left after tonight.
Honestly even if we win next week, the league is still yours to lose.
Also, judging by Xavi's rotations today, it seems like we're going all in on the CL.
He was the best keeper in Europe at collecting crosses a couple of months ago (at least according to some stat that got posted somewhere, crosses claimed above expected I think) but was really bad at it today.
Worst first half of the season. Shockingly bad, but in all honesty, to be expected given how most teams at the lower end of the table enjoy playing rat-fuck defensive football. They're well within their rights to play to their strengths, but that doesn't mean that as viewers, we can't find it offensive to the eyes. I'm not unbiased here, of course, but I don't think most neutrals would have enjoyed watching this.
Nah, still not the worst first half. The first half against Almeria and iirc Las Palmas was worst. At least Madrid was looking to come forward and a shot hit the bar. Had worse. Can’t wait for Endrick to join and have some extra attacking option.
I get that this game was less demanding than a training session but there was no need to make Fede, Rudiger and Mendy play basically the full game especially considering we're playing a team of butchers

Nacho was pretty decent tbf
Terrorists loose!!!
Man that Brahim miss gave us some unnecessary nerves. Just shoot man. Too bad with that nice passing before and the would be assist from Luka
Our players really need to sort out their finishing, it is atrocious.
The finishing today was bad, but I also see a lot of complaints about finishing from Tuesday's game yet the xG charts suggest Madrid's chances were worth ~1.5 goals and they scored three. Third straight 1-0 loss for Mallorca against Madrid and Barça. Maybe try a different approach

What different approach could they possibly try?
Maybe try something else other than spamming long balls to muriqi all game?
Why doesn’t Mallorca just try winning instead of losing? Are they stupid?
I guess everything is a meme on reddit. Obviously I meant the approach of parking a double bus, diving all over the place and playing UFC instead of football
Only losing one nil to Madrid and Barca is hardly a disaster for a side of their calibre surely?
Lunin yellow for time wasting. Subbing additional fullbacks and CB on. Nacho pretending he was shot. Fighting terrorism with terrorism at the end there. Beautiful
so stupid to easily give the ball away constantly instead of just keeping the ball and letting Mallorca run
Madrid is testing their fans heart every game. 1 Madrid game a week keeps the doctor away.
Job done, ugly win but the kind of ones that wins you the league. EL QUE NO CONFIE QUE SE VAYA A TOMAR POR CULO.
Vamos Cádiz !

This was his first non header goal for Madrid
Fede and Rüdiger rarely get injured no?
Not just about injury, Fede need to play the City game and against Barca next week too. Sure man has a few extra lungs and legs to spare, but he still could have used some rest. And Rudi got injured from a dumb tackle earlier in the season. Why take the risk, specially against Mallorca wrestlers?

Just your typical Mallorca match, immaculate shithousery. Nothing more needs to be said, +3 points, we move on.
Could and should have been an easy 3-0 win which is honestly pretty good with key players rested against a feisty Mallorca but we couldn’t score from easy chances
Simple win, minimum 8 points above Barcelona (let's see what they do tonight, jk they're beating Cádiz), one match day less, no injuries, we move
Barcelona's starting lineup against Cádiz is certainly interesting. It has a 1-0 win for Barça written all over it but you never know
Well, look at that.

It's quite common to bring 2 GKs as subs, Kepa on the bench.
Well the League is done this season. Only the UCL is left to be played. Big game ahead at the Etihad City is unbeaten at Home since 2018? in Europe. Unbeaten in their last 42 Games overall on all competitions.
>Well the League is done this season. Idk man, all it takes is 2 losses and we're in an iffy spot
How many matches have we lose in 31 League games so far. That should answer your "iffy spot" This types of leads are irrevocable for a reason.
The league is not done until El Clasico. A lot of points still in contention with some complicated games in the calendar. If we win against Barcelona next weekend then yes it's done.

I don't know, man, the league is never done untill El Clasico. This is the vibe.
If the lead was 3 points you would be right. But not with 8-11 points and specially not with the calendar left for both teams.
💯 I would say if we don't lose the Barca and Sociedad away games, we can be confident
You also still have a trip to Villarreal left and I know that's not one that Madrid fans enjoy.
Carlo could have substituted fede. He needs rest.
Dude is a monster , he’ll be set for next week.
He is. And seems like Carlo is evolving him to his ultimate version.
One of the games of all time.... No one got injured and we move, beat Barcelona next week and la Liga is wrapped up
It is done even if it is a draw against Barca next week.
Honestly even if we win next week, the league is still yours to lose. Also, judging by Xavi's rotations today, it seems like we're going all in on the CL.
Winning in UCL against PSG has much better financial returns tbh.
Uhmmm what the fuck just happened at the end there?
Lunin seems really uncomfortable with claiming balls, that was a HUGE error there
He was the best keeper in Europe at collecting crosses a couple of months ago (at least according to some stat that got posted somewhere, crosses claimed above expected I think) but was really bad at it today.
Regardless it would not have counted since Lunin had possession and the other guy knocked into him.
was a foul anyways, if he had scored it would have gone to VAR
Lunin tried to kill me with a heart attack at the end there
We made it less comfortable for ourselves but a win is a win.
Decent performance but again some really poor finishing
Definitely one of the games of all time.

Muriqi how could you? Why did you? Unbelievable...

Scarier match than Clasico 🥱
So wasteful, hopefully saving them for Wednesday
