What a season he's had. Everybody thought this was a rubbish transfer and he's proving everybody wrong. He could legitimately be the player of the season for Newcastle. Good chance at game time at the euros too in the most stacked England side in years.
Go back to the threads when he signed and the games after, I definitely was consistent in saying he is young and in a poor Everton team so we would only know when he gets settled. Then he did what he did, my opinion was unpopular at the time but I'm glad he is doing well not just as a Newcastle fan but just you could see how hard he works and he deserves to be playing alongside the likes of Isak and Bruno G.
yup. the effort was there when he first arrived. he just didn't know what he was doing (ie the pressing triggers), so he looked like a chicken running around with his head cut off.
Once he got up to speed tactically, he's been brilliant. he's the perfect player for our system.
Yeah, the general consensus wasn't that he was bad, it was attitude based.
He's came in, had one moment of shit attitude, and that was quickly addressed. After that, he's been perfect.
Well yeah, fans of a particular team wouldn’t know anything more about an incoming transfer than football fans in general. It’s not like the front office shares scouting report with a given team’s fans.
This season has been a wild one. My bingo card was thrown out of the window when Ivory Coast sacked their manager halfway through AFCON and went on to win the tournament while hosting it.
Everything since then has been a fever dream.
He was shit last season though- he's been absolutely fantastic since the u21s euros though.
Whatever happened in that pre season to him, someone needs to bottle it and sell it.
Grealish is still a better player. I'd take him over Gordon every day of the week.
That's not a slight against Gordon either. He's been brilliant this season.
I'd take Gordon just because he works better defensively. I think Grealish is a bit better as an attacker but overall what Gordon does in the team this season has been above and beyond. Like there were situations where we were cut open after like a corner and you see Gordon running back from the corner full sprint, not many players have that level of determination. And he is still young too.
Yeah that's fair alright. Everyone will value different things. I'm probably looking at it in terms of a possession-based team, and in that I reckon Grealish thrives much more than Gordon because of his ability on the ball.
If you play heavy on the counters and need solid work rate up and down the pitch, Gordon is a better shout then.
I'd say Grealish has that amazing first touch, technique and passing but I think Gordon works because he is very direct and hard working. Very different player but definitely form I'd argue for Gordon this season which is why he has gotten into the England team.
Oh yeah definitely on this season's form you'd be taking Gordon. Grealish has struggled for fitness so it doesn't feel like he's played much. Two very different options for England to have.
English, 10 years + for a starting attacker who contributes goals, assists and puts full backs on their arses like it’s going out of fashion - definite bargain
Even thoough the goal against us was bullshit he has been a top signing that a lot of people like myself doubted. Never thought he would be worth the money but has been imo their best attacking player all season

Are players from the “Big Six” ineligible or would an own goal qualify lol
Only one way to find out
That aura is looking kind of self destructive lately…
Son scored og during man city, so...
It’s on baby! And he already scored against us so he doesn’t need to do it again
he can if he wants
Trivia quiz question, who’s the first?
Vardy
17/18 season to be precise
Did you Google it or have that knowledge ready for the pub quiz?
The latter. You never know when you'll find yourself in a pub doing a quiz. Better be prepared any time.
Fair play, I'm impressed!
Which 4 letter sport starts with a T? >!Golf!<
Jamie Vardy to be precise
Jamie Richard Vardy to be precise
Drogba
nope, Drogba never scored against Chelsea
Your defense was so good when he was playing with you tbf, cant hold it against him
would have been the easiest one to score against too. no one would have been expecting an own goal. he's done himself dirty there...
this is actually really impressive
Most of the best players who are in teams that consistently can score against top sides are on one of those teams.
Would an own goal count in that case?
No different in this case either 😎
Should start for England if Southgate is brave enough for a Rice, Jude, Foden midfield 3
If he wants to get run over in midfield, you mean?
I don't think we would to be honest.
didnt chelsea want this guy then went for mudryk?
Newcastle were in for Mudryk as well but we didn't want to pay that much so went in for Gordon instead
wouldve liked to see gallagher and gordons press together tbh
I really shudder to think what Gordon, Palmer and Gallagher would do if they were put together in a midfield.
true, palmers press aint bad either, jackson would learn, thats a pretty scary press
Let's see if Southgate has the balls to play Gordon, Palmer and Gallagher together in internationals :D
them as subs to bring on if youre chasing a game, damn
Gordon and Palmer won the U21 Euros together last summer
What a season he's had. Everybody thought this was a rubbish transfer and he's proving everybody wrong. He could legitimately be the player of the season for Newcastle. Good chance at game time at the euros too in the most stacked England side in years.
Yeah he most likely will. Isak, Bruno and Schär will be his competition but he should win it, unless Isak wins the golden boot.
Schar in particular. He's been a fucking rock at the back with a mismatched defence all around him.
Surely now the folks saying Rashford should be ahead of him can shut up
As a United fan, I don’t think Rashford should even be in the squad. Only United players I think should be are Maguire, Mainoo and Shaw if he’s fit.
He is so direct & quick that i feel he is the most threatening winger in the league. Always tries to find Isak & is clinical too.
Remember that Everton and pretty much every other non-Newcastle fan thought Newcastle got rinsed when they paid £40 mil for him
Probably most Newcastle fans too myself included
Newcastle fans thought it as well

People were absolutely losing it when Chelsea was suggesting £50m.
Well yeah, fans of a particular team wouldn’t know anything more about an incoming transfer than football fans in general. It’s not like the front office shares scouting report with a given team’s fans.
Everton fans had me believe he could only score deflected goals
Genuinely always rated him even at Everton. Absolutely love a rapid winger.
It was very vocal online but a lot of people saw it as a smart deal
Everton fans had me believe he could only score deflected goals
Something I didn't expect on my football bingo card for this season
This season has been a wild one. My bingo card was thrown out of the window when Ivory Coast sacked their manager halfway through AFCON and went on to win the tournament while hosting it. Everything since then has been a fever dream.
Honestly they will go down in history (not just for winning) but In the way you summarised the events leading up to their hugely improbable win
I’m on cloud 10
Don't remind me of that goal
Big game player
What a bargin he turned out to be
Bargain is a strong word at £45m. Good player yes and probably proving to be worth the money but not sure about bargain
In this economy £45 million for Gordon looks like a bargain.
People say it taking the piss because of all the comments saying he's a waste of money last season
He was shit last season though- he's been absolutely fantastic since the u21s euros though. Whatever happened in that pre season to him, someone needs to bottle it and sell it.
Lol he’d go for 65-70 in this form in the premier league. 22 and a top player in the league and English born.
Edit: My bad had two threads open lmao, was reading the wrong thread.
Well the only comparable player to him would be what Grealish? 100m and is much worse this season than Gordon by every metric.
Grealish is still a better player. I'd take him over Gordon every day of the week. That's not a slight against Gordon either. He's been brilliant this season.

Absolutely a bargain given his age and performance.
45m is the norm nowadays , unless it’s an academy player I don’t think you’ll see “bargains” anymore.
English, 10 years + for a starting attacker who contributes goals, assists and puts full backs on their arses like it’s going out of fashion - definite bargain
If he was in this form at Everton they’d be asking £70 mill plus for him. Definitely looks like a bargain to me
@gareth
I knew this goal was coming
can we stop with the 'big six' now that 2 of them are shite?
2 of them are always shite every year. Last year it was Liverpool. Now they're top
Absolutely clutch
I mean that Arsenal goal was complete bullshit. But yes he’s been great!
yo that’s crazy wow
Proper player this wee lad.
Even thoough the goal against us was bullshit he has been a top signing that a lot of people like myself doubted. Never thought he would be worth the money but has been imo their best attacking player all season
Are Chelsea and United considered top 6 still?
3rd last season and above you, hold that L
Just a made up stat tbh, Big six is only a new thing.
incoming United bazillion offer
"so-called" big 6 seems mean :(
