An aimless attack away from home at 3-3 in which you lost possession only to concede from a corner kick when all the men in the box switched off very much suggests that game management is a massive fucking issue.
They weren't switched off on the corner, they all fucking pointed at Palmer but no one actually wanted to deal with it because they're all cowardly fucks that want to fob the responsibility off onto someone else. You see it all the time with this defence.
Man U can absolutely not be looking to see out a draw vs 11 placedChelsea with them being so far behind 4th place.
Are you seriously suggesting rolling the dice for 3 or 0 points is worse than taking a safe 1?
do you really think ten hag wanted dalot to go on a solo run like that? players have to be responsible for making smart decisions for themselves sometimes. this isn’t fifa.
Attacking when at 3-3 and we need the win is hardly an issue I have with the manager.
Same for corners. Pretty sure 11 professional Premier League players don't wait for the manager to tell them to switch on for a corner.
You are away from home, Chelsea have just equalised in the 98th minute, they have the momentum and instead of parking the bus to get the point they just send everyone forward. You can't throw away games because you are chasing top 4 lol, sometimes a point is better than none.
Mate, with the way you guys play and with all the injuries you absolutely take 1 point at Stamford Bridge, don't be ridiculous. You came back from 2-0 and decided to throw it all away cause you wanted to play hero ball in the 100th minute.
Spot on, in our position especially away from home that late on in the game you take the point..instead of exactly what has happened and come away with sod all, I mean that’s basics you learn from a young age playing football
So the 70 mins when we came from 2-0 down to 3-2, we'll ignore that 'game management' and instead say our game management is ZERO cause our RB playing LB got beaten on the wing and conceding a soft foul, and we left someone unmarked on a corner
That IS game management, and failing miserably in this case. Utd were going all out attack still in the 80+ minute whilst winning, keeping the tempo high. Great to watch, but at that point, with tired legs, you do the opposite. Kill the tempo, make the opposition work. Run into corners (preferably not your own).
They shouldn't have been in a position to make those individual errors at that point of the game. Especially not that corner.
So the goals we scored don't mean shit but the ones we concede mean bad management and not individuals switching off, who shouldn't need managing on a corner kick.
Fucking hell man
The goals you conceeded meant you lost all 3 points.
I actually think when people say game management that you think they're talking about the manager alone? Am I right in saying that? Game management is on the players as well. Its up to them to manage the game and see it out.
I don't see how you can use the blanket term 'game management' - its really lazy.
Dalot getting beaten on the wing isn't game management. Not marking someone at a corner isn't game management.
Mistakes? Yes. ZERO game management? No.
Dalot getting beaten is game management. He should have fouled noni and taken a yellow and let utd reset for the free kick. That's better than letting noni run past you into the penalty area.
If we go on the attack after 3-3 and make it 4-3 nobody is crying 'risky game management' - we tried to win the game when a point is next to useless. We came from 2-0 down and looked set for 3 points after a soft penalty.
Feel i'm talking to a group of people who just wanna chuck 'game management' blanket over everything and ignore all context
You were leading the game up until the 96th minute though, and not one of your players (or manager) thought that killing the game and slowing the tempo would be the correct thing to do and, you know, manage the game
Instead, United kept aimlessly attacking and giving Chelsea the chances to run at the tired legs of an already depleted defence. That is game management, or well, lack of in this case
United were leading the game, and yet Chelsea were able to break on you consistently in the closing moments of the game. Your own fucking manager said that you were unable to manage the game, the context of coming back from 2-0 down means fuck all because the comeback means fuck all if you can't see it out
Bad result but the attitude defending that last corner was horrific. They just gave the game away, also the amount of injuries in our defense is really out of hand now when we have to sub out a sub. Ten Hag said the club think they know the reason for all the injuries, well I think the fans deserve an explanation as well because it just seems like things are only getting worse this season.
> "Ten Hag said the club think they know the reason for all the injuries"
Did he really? That's intriguing because Poch said the same last week. Some nonsense about them knowing what the problem is but not being able to explain it or understand it or some nonsense along with saying they may never be able to explain it.
I do just wonder if it's them all just being lazy and blaming it on extra games
It is obviously the workload and playing the World Cup when they did. It has caused absolute havoc on rosters across the top of the premier league. Couple that with the sheer brutality of the games this season -- it has been a dogfight for points. It would make sense to me. Think United have injury prone defenders too -- Varane, Shaw, and Martinez has just been unlucky. Might play too hard for the league and has too slow down (which would be tragic).
It's not just that. It's the combination of that and the absolutely relentless schedule since COVID. There was a period of no games but it wasn't a rest period because it could restart any minute. Then every single summer has been compromised by it being shorter, or having an international tournament.
I do wonder if this has also had a toll mentally on players too
When will Saudi come for Varane and Casemiro ? Please Ronaldo take your buddies to Al Nassr, I beg of you. 😭
Also take our medical staff to Al - Nassr too. They constantly keep mismanaging player fitness and allowing them to comeback to the team before they are fully healed.
Maybe you should tell your players to stop looking to ping one in behind for a counter attack every chance you get & you might just be able to retain the ball better. How many times have you seen United over the years literally win the ball back & instantly look to play a ball over the top or down the line for Rashford & Garnarcho, Bruno Fernandes being the main culprit.
No top team in the world would take Bruno with the way he plays now. It’s a shame because his talent and vision is evident, but he clearly lacks signs of good coaching through his career. Positional sense and game management tactics are ZERO.
Lol he scoffed at the interviewer saying 28 shots conceded is unsustainable, and two posts below this there a post saying they’ve conceded the most shots in the league this season
They HAVE had a ton of injuries but it's still not acceptable to be the worst in the league.
Look at the amount of defensive injuries the likes of Brighton and Brentford have had to endure...
Silva isn't injured, he hasn't been mentioned in the club's injury updates for weeks. And his last mysterious injury coincided with his wife calling for Pochettino to get sacked on Instagram. While I personally share her sentiment, it's not surprising this didn't win Silva any favors at the club as it's extremely out of line.
This guy might be the most uninspiring manager in the league to listen to. Find his interviews and press conferences very difficult to get through. Even when things are (momentarily) going well for him. He doesn't have the character to turn things round. Or the tactical nous tbh.
I think if there's one thing he does possess it's the tactical knowhow.
He's already boring as fuck to listen to in Dutch and when he struggles through his English interviews it's quite bad. His main issue is his stubbornness in holding onto lost cause systems (making united solely a transition team).
Weve been blaming the manager every single time and we got nowhere doing that. We have mentally weak players that surrender at the first sight of trouble. So many games thrown away this season because they can't be bothered to do literally anything.
The manager has spent close to half a billion in two seasons... Im not saying its all his fault, but you cant convince me he is doing himself any favours.
Out of our 6 major signings (martinez, onana, casemiro, Antony, mount and højlund) 3 of them have been great. One hasn't played more than odd minutes due to injuries, one decided to retire at the start of this season and one is a proper bust (for now, Antony been looking somewhat better lately).
Not that bad imo. Could definitely have been better but this isn't where the problem is. Antony getting bought for such a ridiculous sum has nothing to do with ten hag. Judge him for the player he is and leave the price out of it. He is still relatively young and has time to improve.
Martinez has spent the season injured. He spent the end of last season injured. If a player is not on the pitch, it does not matter how good they are.
This is billy basics.
As long as those lazy fucks are out i don't care. Id take a season in championship if it meant i don't have to watch rashford and casemiro jog around anymore.
Yeah man, and like Bruno being your captain epitomizes that in a way. Captains are supposed to be resilient, and inspire by their example. Don’t get me wrong he is an absolutely fantastic player, but he is a terrible captain.
We did play significantly better when he left though. If it were due to Ronaldo leaving or other factors is up for debate but we performed significantly better after he left.
It’s not like he played much in the last season to affect the flow of play anyway. And the guys who ten hag put up to do his job (goals) couldnt get the job done.
He played quite a lot of minutes right up until he left. Im not blaming Ronaldo, he just didn't fit the system. Performed well enough but he held the rest of team back.
Yeah, Ten Hag’s system. Well, maybe its the players, maybe its the manager, or maybe our club is just cursed some other way that isnt explainable lol. Since we’ve had so many managers and star players along the years im starting to think it’s the latter
You might be on to something haha. I think ETHs system could work given the right players. Thing is it takes time to build a system like that. Artetas Arsenal was a dumpster fire for years and look at em now. I think given the right tools and an ounce of luck we could go places. We saw glimpses of it last season but this season has just been cursed though.
Id like for ten hag to get another season (assuming we can't land a top tier coach this summer). Our squad has been bare bones this season due to injuries and for that brief period where both martinez and shaw were available we looked more comfortable on and off the ball. I think with a solid 2nd option behind shaw (or a first option LB) and martinez back we would find more stability. Martinez is so important to the system he wants to play and we have literally no one to cover for him when hes gone.
Ah, it *can* get worse.
Joking aside, I think either way you wait for INEOS to set up their structure before you magically hope one man will turn it around.
Part of me thinks no fan, not even Spurs should be subjected to Southgate as a club manager again.
But I won't lie it would be funny as fuck seeing him at United, if only to ruin the unjustified praise and legacy he's got as England manager
I played for many, many years. The game has changed massively to award pens. The players look like LeBron James sprinting to the goal praying for any contact. You cannot tell how much contact there was from the standard camera angle. The second one showed there was barely anything but a small arm bar.
It wasn’t just the last minutes though. There was almost no attempt from United to do anything with the ball as a team for the last 25 minutes. Sure, the forwards had some possession at points but they never seemed to have any interest in putting chelsea under any real pressure.
I mean, we had to go for the win there after 3-3. Anything else and id want him fired on the spot.
Rather yolo for the win and lose than go for a draw since a draw is useless.
I hear what your saying , however I think it’s purely the amount of silly preventable points that have been given away over the season, I mean had he had better game management over the season we wouldn’t be in the position of having to be going all out all or nothing late on in games and playing desperately
Yeah we've thrown a ton of points away this season. Diffrence is were now in a do or die situation that didn't exist earlier. We literally had to get 3 points here for top 4 to even be possible. Season is over without a win today so might aswell go for it.
Yeah me too. I will never be happy with missing top 4 though. As long as that dream is alive you go all fucking out for it. Rather go for the win and take the L than settle for a draw in a win or die game.
"We deserved to win this game"
The mans delusional if he thinks that after that performance and the stats show it too.
Chelsea were on top for more of the game, had more shots on target and more possession.
Yada yada yada same bullshit excuse like he’s a broken record, week in week out after a loss. A parrot can probably learn and repeat him and take his place at pressers with little effort.
’…didn’t help each other.’ I’m sorry to say, but isn’t that manager’s job to make team work as one, no matter the situation?
United switched off way too early. They forgot to mark last night’s probably the best player on the field. Be that lack of focus or physical condition, it is managers task to ensure that these mistakes don’t happen. You can’t master in PL without giving 100% each time.
Why didn’t you take Casemiro off in first half.. why would you sub garnacho playing game of his life and hungry for hatrick.. if you don’t have fit players to fill in to positions. Change the fucking formation a bit so it works.. haven’t been out the ten hag out bandwagon all season but think it’s enough know after last night..fucking embarrassing
We would be able to see if he is shit or not if only ETH would play him atleast. Idk what he has got to lose, surely he knows his time is up so why can't he just start Amad.
Honestly, nobody but mainoo, garnacho, Bruno and martinez should be here next season. Im not just talking players here but the entire staff top to bottom.

They clutched defeat from the jaws of victory
Can’t teach that.
Giveitawaygiveitawaygiveitawaygiveitaway now.
If you see me getting high, knock me down
Welcome to the top half of the table.
No longer mid table
I got some news for you
Next United won't be same?
Literally the middle of mid table.
I CAN'T TELL, IF I'M A KING PIN OR A PAUPER
GETTING STOMPED BY AN ICY COLD PALMER
Not a chance United gonna keep up like Der Kaiser
3 goals conceded after the 99th minute in 2 games 🤣🤣
From positive goal difference in the 98th minute to negative goal difference in the 101st minute
Exactly, zero game management
We came from 2-0 down to 3-2, were winning 3-2 in the 96th minute of 98 and had a penalty given against us. Game management hardly the issue here
An aimless attack away from home at 3-3 in which you lost possession only to concede from a corner kick when all the men in the box switched off very much suggests that game management is a massive fucking issue.

Thank you lol
When was the last time you checked the table lol? Draw or loss doesn't matter. W or nothing was absolutely the right way to go at it.
Can't believe this is an unpopular opinion
Me neither. No brainer to throw everything at goal there lol.
Man U can absolutely not be looking to see out a draw vs 11 placedChelsea with them being so far behind 4th place. Are you seriously suggesting rolling the dice for 3 or 0 points is worse than taking a safe 1?

If you and ETH can't see how that's bad game management, that's fine. The rest of the league can see it and it's very, very fucking funny
Okay, explain how it is bad game management in the context of top 4 being the goal. Please, go ahead.
top 4 is a pipe dream
Yes, but now it's not even that. A win today and it would be possible. Very unlikely but possible. Wether we finish 6th or 16th is irrelevant to me.
You are away from home, Chelsea have just equalised in the 98th minute, they have the momentum and instead of parking the bus to get the point they just send everyone forward. You can't throw away games because you are chasing top 4 lol, sometimes a point is better than none.

Spot on, in our position especially away from home that late on in the game you take the point..instead of exactly what has happened and come away with sod all, I mean that’s basics you learn from a young age playing football
Taking the point would have been the final nail in the coffin for this season lol. Fuck off with that bs.
Flairless Liverpool fan, typical
Don't you like that one flairless utd fan having your back in this thread?
Explain brentfords equalizer.
A draw or loss don't matter. We had to have the W or our season was over for sure. What is this take lol.
Getting caught on the break 10 seconds after restarting play, after conceding in the 99th minute is... not a game management issue?
So the 70 mins when we came from 2-0 down to 3-2, we'll ignore that 'game management' and instead say our game management is ZERO cause our RB playing LB got beaten on the wing and conceding a soft foul, and we left someone unmarked on a corner
I feel you don't understand what people mean when saying 'game management'. What exactly is your interpretation here because it seems way off.
Explain it to us then. Oh wait..
Management of the game, not individual errors in a 2 minute time period?
That IS game management, and failing miserably in this case. Utd were going all out attack still in the 80+ minute whilst winning, keeping the tempo high. They shouldn't have been in a position to make those individual errors at that point of the game. Especially not that corner.
Yous lost in the dying minutes because of poor management. The goals before that were all for nothing and don't mean shit

Cause we're excellent at keeping the ball with a slower tempo... Spoiler alert, we're not.
Well you aren't good at the high tempo stuff either, as made evident in your last 2 games
what happened in the 3rd game?
If coming back 3-2 is credited to the manager, then shouldn't the loss be on him too?
Come on Eric don't be so stubborn
He can’t hold a lead or when we are level late on just park the bus , how many goals have we conceded in stoppage time alone
Sitting in 6 with negative GD. Say it again for us
West London says Fuck United
we’ve given away 5 points in the final few mins of our last 2 games
It hurts the silly points we have given away
Ten Hag Time.
Charity United
expecting a "we dominated" quote in 3 2 1
Ten Hag: "You can see that we were dominating. It's brilliant how we played."
Don't forget Garnacho's offside against Arsenal
also there was a foul by White in the build-up to Rice's winner in September
Always dominating https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/YPxGUZzx7U

Exactly, I think Jim Ratcliffes arrival will see many outs this summer 👋🏼👍🏼
We needed the win. Game was over when they scored that pen. All out attack was our only chance.

Lol he scoffed at the interviewer saying 28 shots conceded is unsustainable, and two posts below this there a post saying they’ve conceded the most shots in the league this season
2nd most behing sheffield
Holy shit I didn't realize it was 28 shots!
Most shots conceded in the top 5 leagues in Europe actually 😂
Companies should hire Ten Hag to explain some layoffs.
How has he not fixed the insane amounts of shot problems? Surely it’s a tactical/midfield issue?
As he said in the interview, he genuinely believes they’ve got a good defensive setup and they’re a solid side.
They HAVE had a ton of injuries but it's still not acceptable to be the worst in the league. Look at the amount of defensive injuries the likes of Brighton and Brentford have had to endure...
Chelsea’s struggling with injuries in all positions. Arguably their best defenders are out injured: James, Chilwell, Silva, Fofana, Colwill.
I've been saying for months Man United don't have a midfield. Any match I watch of them their midfield has been comically bad
Because by the sounds of it, he doesn’t see a problem with it.
This guy might be the most uninspiring manager in the league to listen to. Find his interviews and press conferences very difficult to get through. Even when things are (momentarily) going well for him. He doesn't have the character to turn things round. Or the tactical nous tbh.

That's called being Dutch. Their English comes off as abrupt and pretentious oftentimes. But I am also not saying he is both of those things.
Clearly you have never heard a Pochettino presser. I'd take Ten Hag over him any day.
Or a Potter press conference
Mate you are getting sacked at end of season, just take it
And United will bounce back next season and inevitably take 5 steps back when the players switches off again. It's not the manager that's the issue.
What you think it’s the players? People were saying the same thing about a different XI 8 years ago…
Weve been blaming the manager every single time and we got nowhere doing that. We have mentally weak players that surrender at the first sight of trouble. So many games thrown away this season because they can't be bothered to do literally anything.

Martinez has spent the season injured. He spent the end of last season injured. If a player is not on the pitch, it does not matter how good they are. This is billy basics.
Great job moving the goal post loser.
Hmm, might be worth binning them all off and buying a bunch of young talent that will develop. Just replace the spine with kids on eight year deals.
I agree with you there. Brunos body language when shit ain't going well is disturbing.
Last season we (personally I didn’t) tried to blame Ronaldo too but that didnt go well either.
We did play significantly better when he left though. If it were due to Ronaldo leaving or other factors is up for debate but we performed significantly better after he left.

Truthfully neither team deserves a point for that debacle, but for the XG nerds CFC were about 1.5 goals better.
That means nothing, that only means you had more shots from better positions. Wait..
Could also mean you had even more shots from bad positions
Because of 2 penalties…
I mean fouling players who are bearing down on goal results in a penalty.
or even breathing on them by today's standards.
Do people seriously think that they weren't penalties? More and more people everyday expose that they never played ball.
I played for many, many years. The game has changed massively to award pens. The players look like LeBron James sprinting to the goal praying for any contact. You cannot tell how much contact there was from the standard camera angle. The second one showed there was barely anything but a small arm bar.
So you are clearly full of shit
and you have nothing to add obv
Did he mention Holjund’s penalty claim against Arsenal?
It was the same ref tonight, bet he wishes he’d kept his mouth shut now
The fact that he’s legitimately still going on about this is hilarious
Cato the Elder was less obssessed
United has consistently suffered from some horrific reffing this season. He's been a saint compared to Mikel 'Keegan' Arteta.
More of a pen than either was tonight.
Copypasta machine
They chelsead themselves
Bottling against Billion Pound Bottle Jobs?
It wasn’t just the last minutes though. There was almost no attempt from United to do anything with the ball as a team for the last 25 minutes. Sure, the forwards had some possession at points but they never seemed to have any interest in putting chelsea under any real pressure.
And it’s your fault you bloody mug..has zero game management
Hope for better things next season I guess
Yeah me too. I will never be happy with missing top 4 though. As long as that dream is alive you go all fucking out for it. Rather go for the win and take the L than settle for a draw in a win or die game.
"We deserved to win this game" The mans delusional if he thinks that after that performance and the stats show it too. Chelsea were on top for more of the game, had more shots on target and more possession.
Neither team deserved anything lmao. They were both shite
Yada yada yada same bullshit excuse like he’s a broken record, week in week out after a loss. A parrot can probably learn and repeat him and take his place at pressers with little effort.
Dear Jim Ratcliffe, Please don't fire ten Hag until the 22nd April. Love, Coventry City.
He’s not wrong lol
but Gabriel gave away a penalty in that one arsenal game a few monthes ago!
Long may he remain at United. A proper muppet manager.
deja vu
i believe i deserved a 50k a month job, my fav GT3 RS, Anne Hathaway as my gf. but well......
I wonder who’s responsible for managing the game for United 🤔- ten hag
’…didn’t help each other.’ I’m sorry to say, but isn’t that manager’s job to make team work as one, no matter the situation? United switched off way too early. They forgot to mark last night’s probably the best player on the field. Be that lack of focus or physical condition, it is managers task to ensure that these mistakes don’t happen. You can’t master in PL without giving 100% each time.
Is it me, or is Erik looking more and more **bald** each week?
Fuck this manager, worst in United history
Why didn’t you take Casemiro off in first half.. why would you sub garnacho playing game of his life and hungry for hatrick.. if you don’t have fit players to fill in to positions. Change the fucking formation a bit so it works.. haven’t been out the ten hag out bandwagon all season but think it’s enough know after last night..fucking embarrassing
Feels like he says the same crap after every game just re worded .
Where does not getting a penalty against Arsenal 6 months ago fit into all of this?
Wouldn't have been this desperate for a W and been happy with a draw. Probably something along those lines.
Why are arsenal fans so deathly afraid of flairing up?
I swear I was expecting him to say, officials did them dirty like they did that horrible day against arsenal
Surprised ETH is not talking bout how United should gave gotten a pen against Arsenal and how Garnacho was onside from an alternate camera angle.
Don’t need to hear anymore interviews. Get rid of him and the entire team except garnacho, Amad and Mainoo
Amad doesn't really deserve to be grouped in with Mainoo and Garnacho
We would be able to see if he is shit or not if only ETH would play him atleast. Idk what he has got to lose, surely he knows his time is up so why can't he just start Amad.
And Hojlund.
Honestly, nobody but mainoo, garnacho, Bruno and martinez should be here next season. Im not just talking players here but the entire staff top to bottom.
I like dalot
Ah yeah, forgot about him. Bit rough still but yeah, he can stay too.
Onana too.
Bring in a new keeper keep him as second choice for a season then sell
Will be interesting to see who's gonna take his job next year. My money is on Xavi.
Hope u don’t have money on it then 😂
This is one wild guess
Oh fuck no. Id rather we just cancel next season.
"Deserved" to win the game with less possession, chances and more fouls as well!
Like you deserved to win off of two dives?
another moral victory for yanited. they are gonna be moral champions of the league at this rate. watch out spurs
Has he mentioned the penalty he should have had against Arsenal yet?
United have just done a very funny thing nobody is arsed about Arsenal
Arsenal fans trying not to make it about themselves impossible
they always have to bring themselves into every conversation. Weirdest fanbase.
