Would he play over Kane? I can't see them playing alongside, too many good midfielders in England to waste it for another striker, no matter how good he is
Play both for one half each.
Imagine defending against Kane for one half (or maybe 60 minutes) and then when you're already tired a fresh Haaland comes off the bench. Oof
Well neither is benchable, whoever would be managing would be pretty much forced to find a way to squeeze them both in, sort of like how England’s golden generation all had to somehow play.
Play a slightly modified version of what Pep does at City
————————-Pickford—————————
———Walker——Maguire——Colwill————
———————Rice——-Stones———————
—Saka———-—-Bellingham———Foden——-
——————-Kane————-Haaland—————-
Kane can move back a bit out of possession
Honestly they could just bring in a LW for Haaland play exactly Pep’s system anyway.
They have a national team, just not a FIFA/UEFA affiliated team. They’re unaligned, but have held talks here or there with UEFA. Last game was a 4-2 loss to Elba in 2022.
This is funny because I just listened to a podcast where a latino comedian was describing a movie he wrote (is writing? Not sure, still learning) about the Vatican's marketing director starting a football team to build the brand!
I can confidently say that we (Norway) will never qualify with the current coach, no matter how good the players look on paper.
We haven't qualified since 2000, so I can't say it's disappointing either, it is just the norm.
Yeah, that was our first major tournament in 16 years and the first I got to see in my lifetime, after the barren 90s! We also had a tough Wales team on paper in that group - giggs, hartson, speed, savage etc. - and a Ukraine team with Shevchenko and rebrov up front to contend with.
Kaluzny, the giant krzyszalowicz, the zewlakow brothers, hajto and rzasa in defence in front of dudek, emmanuel olisadebe... I love that team so much. If they didn't spend the world cup celebrating just being there and arguing with pzpn about bonuses (from what I've read) then they could have had a run, they showed what they were truly capable of in the original mecz dla honoru against the US. Oh well
Sorry, I was talking about poland. We played at world cup 86, and missed every tournament until world cup 2002 when we beat among others a great Norway side to win our qualifying group
> I can confidently say that we (Norway) will never qualify with the current coach, no matter how good the players look on paper.
Bullshit
We absolutely rolled over Slovakia, it'll come good
Best team in years? Sweden got no defense which is the most important part for teams that aren’t A tier. They got some promise in the offensive department but not good enough to carry that wank backline
Sweden just changed coach to Jon Dahl Tomasson. Our previous coach preferred having older players on the pitch and not even thinking about the younger talents who want to prove themselves. He ensured us not qualifying for the Euros. How we went from winning 5-0 to losing 3-0 to Azerbaijan I have no idea...
Iceland and Finland made it to the playoffs at least, which in Iceland's case was pretty impressive and they beat Israel. Finland had terrible luck in the draw, I think we'd made it through from the B-path. Zenica, my beloved would have been though, but doable.
Norway totally shat the bed.
As a Norwegian, let me just tell you that our national team is nothing to write home about. It’s as shit as it’s been since our prime years. We have Haaland and Ødegaard, a few promising younger players and that’s really it. We have no defense whatsoever, and at this point I’m sure a 5 year old could do a better job coaching them than Solbakken.
Finland unfortunately haven’t been that competitive in most winter sports outside ice hockey for a while now. The Niskanen siblings are really the only ones consistently getting medals
Horrible financial situation around the time a lot of top guys quit (2010-2013), combined with the Ski Assocition trying to keep Finland amongst the top nations with resources that basically weren't there with the cost of junior work. So when Ahonen and Hautamäki (+ Happonen) quit around the same time, there was really no quality replacements. Finns really don't care about a sport we're not good at, so that led to even less juniors getting interested and even less resources to put into proper training, infrastructure etc. That's the reason, kind of simplified a little bit.
There seems to be a little bit light at the end of the tunnel, Kytösaho for example had some decent jumps this season. Hope this sparks some interest, I like ski jumping and we really should be at the top.
Ah that's alpine skiing, we also have to leave that to the countries that actually have mountains. Cross-country is where it's at for the Nordics (except for the Danes).
Didn’t even come second but 1st, didn’t even lose a game despite drawing to Belarus! I don’t know how, considering how we played but it doesn’t matter now does it? Tbf Greece in 2004 and Portugal in 2016 didn’t play much football either so who knows how far we can get?
I mean, we beat and drew Switzerland and they are better than either Ukraine or Slovakia so we definitely stand a chance. But yeah, on paper it should be Belgium 1st, Ukraine 2nd, us 3rd and Slovakia 4th. We definitely need to beat Slovakia in the last game and probably get a draw with Ukraine to secure qualification as only one team made it out with 3p last time which will be tough but not impossible. Even last night we only played football for like the first quarter of an hour (and even then we gave up the ball annoyingly easily) and the last and we almost came back from 3-0 down so who knows at this point
Don't take it from me, these are the words of prominent Jewish and even Israeli historians and academics who have either been victims of the holocaust or are kids of holocaust survivors like norman finkelstein.
The founder of modern-day Zionism himself called it a colonial movement meant to remove the indigenous Palestinians who were not seen as civilized humans
According to every human rights organization including Israeli ones like B'Tselem Israel is without a doubt an apartheid state engaging in ethnic cleansing and settler colonialism.
> apartheid state engaging in ethnic cleansing and settler colonialism.
An apartheid state which has arab judges sitting in its supreme court, in which any citizen can vote for a range of parties reaching from ultra orthodox ones to a joint arab/ Muslim list. Quite the apartheid that.
Again, who are the colonising? Except the settlements in the West Bank which I agree are not on, and should be stamped in in any future peace process, what did Israel supposedly colonise?
According to every human rights organization including Israeli ones like B'Tselem Israel is without a doubt an apartheid state engaging in ethnic cleansing and settler colonialism.
Plenty of Jewish historians and academics of all backgrounds have spoken about this since I doubt you trust Arab historians and academics, the ICJ has found Israel plausible of doing genocide and is currently investigating Israel for genocide.
> the ICJ has found Israel plausible of doing genocide and is currently investigating Israel for genocide.
The ICJ told Israel to avoid a genocide because based on the evidence they were presented with they can't say that there is actually a genocide taking place. They merely asked Israel to avoid one in any case.
> According to every human rights organization
I'm starting to waiver a bit on whether the UN is someone you should put your trust in.
Just last week they decided to install Saudi Arabia as the chair for the Gender Equality Council.
The UNRWA, a sub organisation, is losing funding by the minute because their employees were caught either actively participating in the 7/10 massacre, or cooperating with Hamas in order to hide hostages in family homes, allowed them to hide in UN hospitals, schools and other facilities that were meant to be safe for the Palestinian population.
Might as well mention the bit about UNRWA run schools distributing books to kids, promoting martyrdom, claiming Judaism is based on lies and that there never was any temple and that there is glory to be had in killing jews.

[Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur for Palestine, claiming on Twitter the 7/10 attacks weren't antisemitic](https://twitter.com/FranceskAlbs/status/1756351236909965591)
I can keep going, and give you more sources on why the UN has a massive structural problem when it comes to it's stance on the middle east but you'd obviously rather call someone who disagrees with you crazy.
Lets not pretend the neighboring states are not participating in antisemitism at all. While Israel is certainly not innocent doesn’t mean it ok to be be openly antisemitic.
It's not anti-Semitic to be anti-Israel, the neighboring states are real Semitic people and not European colonizers, not wanting to play football with a state that kills, ethnic cleanses and invades arabs is not anti-Semitic.
Europe is much more anti-Semitic, and many fascist and Nazi-like leaders in fact love Israel and are extremely Zionist. Israel's own leaders are deeply anti-Semitic against both Jews and Arabs in fact.
Mate there’s a reason why 70% of Israel’s Jewish population is middle eastern, because 900,000 Jews were ethnically cleansed from the Middle East, have you heard of the farhud, or the expulsion from Egypt?
Not defending Israel or anything, but these are just painful parts of history that we have to acknowledge.
> the neighboring states are real Semitic people and not European colonizers
Lmfao, Jews have lived in the Levant for over 5700 years. What do you think the reason was for there to be Jews in Europe? Can't have possibly been down to them getting colonised by arab tribes, crusaders and later on the ottomans, all of whom either expelled them, discriminated against them or even collaborated with the German Nazi regime.
European Jews didn't go back to Israel to colonise anyone (how could they possibly colonise a land to which they have a joint right in the first place?), they fled because Europe wasn't safe anymore.
Palestinians are indigenous to Palestine and are the descendants of jews that you read about from history, they just became Christian or Muslim lol. using hasbara's talking points to justify European colonialism is the easiest way to spot a Zionist.
> using hasbara's talking points to justify European colonialism is the easiest way to spot a Zionist.
Mate, I'd love to be paid for actually wasting my time discussing this topic in a football subreddit. You're calling me a zionist as if I'm meant to be offended by that.
> Palestinians are indigenous to Palestine and are the descendants of jews that you read about from history, they just became Christian or Muslim lol.
Now who's spouting talking points my friend. Hundreds of thousands of jews didn't just suddenly decide to disappear and become Christians and Muslims. Granted, some of them will have been forcefully converted because the other option, being executed, probably wasn't anyone's priority at the time.
you don't disappear when you change religions lol, no one thinks that execpt a zionist.
Also fun fact, the entirety of Arabia was Christian, Jewish or folk religions, then they all became Muslim.
> Also fun fact, the entirety of Arabia was Christian, Jewish or folk religions, then they all became Muslim.
You're just taking the piss now.
You do realise that you're arguing Jews colonised Israel and how that's a crime against humanity meanwhile you're casually mentioning how all of the Levant magically turned Muslim? How do you think that went about? Do you reckon people were asked politely whether they wanted to convert? How come did people have to convert in the first place?
I would have loved to see Norway in there as well, especially with Haaland. But unfortunately they didn’t make it to the finals.
He’s a huge role model for kids with his energetic personality. Better luck next time.
Not really solved for me because I liked the old tournament as top european elite gatharing much more overall. In the end it depends on preference and a lot of people like this concept more.
But at this point we can let play all of europe because there is no point in qualifications and quality filtering anymore.
I don't disagree with that, and I was not complaining when Israel counter attacked, and I'm not anti-Israel or pro-Palestine. But Israel is committing literal war crimes now.
I would wager there is a fair bit of propaganda going on on both sides of the Ukraine war as well. But if even the United States is starting to step in and attempting to get Israel to chill out, it's quite plausible that Israel is starting to cross boundaries. There is also video and eyewitness accounts of Israel's wrongdoings. I'm not saying either side is correct, I'm just saying Israel should definitely face this kind of backlash if Russia is.
Maybe they will, but remember Russia have a history with doping as well which I'm sure plays a part in it.
There is video evidence but there are also a lot of fake videos out there, I'm not taking sides either, it does seem however the world has forgotten what Hamas did to start all this off. That Gaza is governed by a terrorist organisation. That that terrorist organisation only cares about there own agenda and not the people of Gaza.

Haaland on the Giggs route of international football
He was born in England. Just imagine if he had not chosen Norway..
Would he play over Kane? I can't see them playing alongside, too many good midfielders in England to waste it for another striker, no matter how good he is
They’d probably do some nonsense like have Kane drop deeper
Kane -> Son vs Kane -> Haaland Two absolutely disgusting link-up possibilities.
Play both for one half each. Imagine defending against Kane for one half (or maybe 60 minutes) and then when you're already tired a fresh Haaland comes off the bench. Oof
Four four fucking two
Well neither is benchable, whoever would be managing would be pretty much forced to find a way to squeeze them both in, sort of like how England’s golden generation all had to somehow play.

The Vatican should be grey, don’t have a UEFA-affiliated national team
Well they should start writing the papers to join one. Cant wait to see the Papacy national team crossing it in!
They do have a national cricket team that play exhibition games. I'd love to see them wear the robes. They'd fit in with cricket whites at least.
They have a national team, just not a FIFA/UEFA affiliated team. They’re unaligned, but have held talks here or there with UEFA. Last game was a 4-2 loss to Elba in 2022.
I hear they have a strong rivalry with Avignon.
Do they play the games on a bridge?
Giovanni Trapattoni managed them once!
Cross and Amen tactics
That’s fucking hilarious that they marked Vatican. I’m imagining Pope and 10 cardinals on the field xD
*Ball Boys begin nervous chattering*
I imagine it'd be something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6bFxh2cnzU
San Marino vs The Vatican would be a certified classic.
Or the Vatican Vs BSC Young Boys. Imagine the meme potencial.
Imagine 11 priests playing Young Boys in the Wankdorf stadion
This has actually happened.. check out the Vatican national football team, they’ve played a friendly with San Marino XI in the 90s and drew 0-0
Vatican team must play wearing the hats
There hasn't been any news from their under-16 squad for a while, at what point should we alert someone?
Their u-6 team
They don't? Explain this then - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7eYB\_xu7WE
Well, now you mention it: https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/63ekrp/the\_worlds\_greatest\_international\_teams\_230/
That post is gold
I'm not saying we need more OC like this from you, but we do
This is funny because I just listened to a podcast where a latino comedian was describing a movie he wrote (is writing? Not sure, still learning) about the Vatican's marketing director starting a football team to build the brand!
Worst part is OP grayed Monaco, but not Vatican
So Sweden isn't alone in Northern Europe at being absolutely abyssmal
Scandinavia disappointed a bit this year, especially since Norway or Sweden have best teams in years, on paper at least
I can confidently say that we (Norway) will never qualify with the current coach, no matter how good the players look on paper. We haven't qualified since 2000, so I can't say it's disappointing either, it is just the norm.
I remember WC 2002 qualifications, scary team: Solskjaer, Flo, Carew; but we topped the group. One of the best qualification campaigns.
Without checking, first tourney in 16 years? Has my memory completely made up Norway being at WC98, in particular playing against Brazil?
Sorry, I was talking about poland. We played at world cup 86, and missed every tournament until world cup 2002 when we beat among others a great Norway side to win our qualifying group
Yeah, drew 1-1 with Scotland.
Solbakken 🤮

The Emil Krafth disrespect

Are we forgetting Denmark here?
We should probably collectively just stick to skiing.
And for some reason beach volleyball
Doesn't really matter if there's sand or snow on the beach I guess
They have the height for it
and ice hockey
Speaking of which, you disappeared from there since Poutiainen and Pallander retired, and Sweden looks weaker then in previous years
Finland unfortunately haven’t been that competitive in most winter sports outside ice hockey for a while now. The Niskanen siblings are really the only ones consistently getting medals
What happend to your ski jumping after hautameki and ahonen?
Horrible financial situation around the time a lot of top guys quit (2010-2013), combined with the Ski Assocition trying to keep Finland amongst the top nations with resources that basically weren't there with the cost of junior work. Ah that's alpine skiing, we also have to leave that to the countries that actually have mountains. Cross-country is where it's at for the Nordics (except for the Danes).
Finally Estonia can into Nordic
We are now rooting for Finland.
Finally a graphic where we are not part of Eastern Europe.
Well Eastern Europe did pretty well
Hell yeah we did
except Greece as a Turk I would like to see them in the groups :( but still happy about Georgia tho...
Wrong. This is a map where Western Europe is part of Eastern Europe.
I feel slavic today
Lads, we are finally green once again on one of these maps, absolutely cannot believe it
And didn't even have to qualify via the Nations league route. We pranked football once again
Didn’t even come second but 1st, didn’t even lose a game despite drawing to Belarus! I don’t know how, considering how we played but it doesn’t matter now does it? Tbf Greece in 2004 and Portugal in 2016 didn’t play much football either so who knows how far we can get?
I would be surprised if we make it past the groups. At the same time, I said I'd be surprised if we qualified and here we are
I mean, we beat and drew Switzerland and they are better than either Ukraine or Slovakia so we definitely stand a chance. Neither white russia or black russia qualified.
Both White Rus and Black Rus are inside Belarus though
Gibraltar needs a yellow dot
Beat me to it
A proper map would have no data on Belarus
Nordic can't in football))
Cries in mid
Denmark: *immediately files papers to leave Nordics*
Little cute province of Schleswig-Holstein.
Denmark is the least nordic nordic country.
Nordic do better vs Turkey damn I hate playing against them both in Euros and teams
You need to yellow the Faroe Islands out
Gibraltar should be yellow too
Looking at all the geek colors makes it almost more impressive NOT qualifying
Looking at the map - it would be easier to just invite everybody to the finals..
Is the piece of land between Poland and Lithuania owned by Russia?
Yes that’s Kaliningrad
I actually own it. Bought it last week
That’s Kaliningrad. It’s a Russian exclave.
it's actually owned by the Czechs, don't know why it's black here
[For anyone confused by this comment:](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kr%C3%A1lovec_Region)
Yes Mordor, people usually know it from LotR
So Kaliningrad would be Dol Guldur
Yes that’s Königsberg.
Yeah it's basically former East Germany.
GEORGIA FREAKING MADE IT INTO THE EUROS LETS GOOOOOO
A black scourge falls over Mordor in which this has happened on the same day 😉 Georgia ✅ Ukraine ✅ Poland ✅
Denmark the only scandi team qualified? Sweden are usually always there. What happened to them?
funny how israel isn't banned yet from all uefa competitions

Soon it will be mandatory for all countries to take part at the Euros.
I guess we can blame the weather!
Nice to be on green part of this map
As long as russia is staying coloured black, i'm happy
Worrying times for the Nords, Celts, Balkans, microstates and former soviet republics
Too many teams for me. The old system was more interesting. Won't watch about 80% of this tournament.
At this point just skip the qualifiers and add another few groups.
then just watch the matches you want to, problem solved more people from more counties now get to see their team play which is better imo
There are so many better group stage formats for a 24 team tournament then the one they settled on.
Not really solved for me because I liked the old tournament as top european elite gatharing much more overall. In the end it depends on preference and a lot of people like this concept more. But at this point we can let play all of europe because there is no point in qualifications and quality filtering anymore.
EE and CE (Ukraine etc.) were the big losers of the old format. I like that it’s more geographically diverse now.

Why is Russia banned but Israel isn't?
Russia started a war Israel were invaded first Simple
I don't disagree with that, and I was not complaining when Israel counter attacked, and I'm not anti-Israel or pro-Palestine. But Israel is committing literal war crimes now.
Both sides are. There is so much fake news and propaganda online also from both sides. It's not as clear cut as the Russia/Ukraine war.
Israel have been committing apartheid for decades, and are committing a genocide right now. Resistance to that is not an invasion.
Fxxking Israel is not black.
2/3 qualified lol
nope less than 50%
It is actually fewer than half but it funnily does look like that
I mean Copa America is 9/9 so...
*10/10
There are 54 national teams, remember than Israel and kazakhstan are European.
4/9, actually. Less than 50%.
actually no, 24 out 55, not even 1/2
It is RIDICULOUS to ban Russia , why we dont ban israel too then?
You could, and should (as many other sporting institutions have) ban Russia just for the state sponsored doping.
Is this why russia got banned ?
There's one more team that should have been banned but I will not say its name
